Kate walked into the GH by herself her hair straightened and falling over her shoulders she was wearing...>>THIS. She had no one to go with but she put that aside she had to come to the Ball...she sat down at an empty table taking off her high heels that were hurting her, this made her shorter because she was short to begin with. She rested her elbow on her knee and her chin on her hand letting her hair fall over her shoulders. She sighed as she watched the other people dance and she was there all alone.

John arrived at the Great hall. He was wearing his black dress robes. As he was walking in he noticed Kate sitting by herself. For a moment he wondered why she was alone. She looked stunning in her white dress. He walked over to her table. "Hello Kate" he said.

Kate turned to see john and smiled. " Hey John..." she said softly.

John smiled "Are you here by yourself?" he asked.

" yeah..." she looked down and sighed. " You?"

"Yeah im by myself too" he replied. John looked around "Would you like to dance?" he asked offering his hand.

Kate smiled. " Sure!" she took his hand and stood up.

John walked with her to the dance floor. He put his hands on her waist.

Kate shyly put her hands around his neck and smiled blushing a little.

John smiled and swayed side to side to the music.

She smiled back and looked at all the other couples dancing around them.

John leaned close "Are you having a good time so far?" He asked Kate.

" yeah it's really nice...and thanks for ya know aking me to dance I was kinda down in the dumps...being alone and all!" she gave him a small smile.

"Thanks for saying yes" He said with a smile.

Kate blushed again like she usually did. " No problem..." she said softly.

John danced silently for a moment. "You are a great dancer" He said.

" You are too!" she smiled

John looked around at the decorations in the hall. The enchanted ceiling was snowing and there were banners everywhere.

Kate followed his gaze then ehr gaze fell on his eyes she looked deep into them almost getting lost in them.

John noticed her looking at his eyes. He turned so she could only see his right eye. His left eye was covered by his hair. He didnt want her to see it.

Kate smiled a little and the song ended.

"Would you like to keep dancing or sit down for a bit?" John asked.

" Um...let's go sit down.." She said letting her arms fall to her side.

"ok" He said. He walked to a table (assuming shes walking with him) and sat down.

Kate sat down by him and tucked some hair behind her ear.

"So" he said "Hows the school year going?" he asked her.

" Fine I guess loads of homework though..." she smiled. " what about yours?"

"Well, just going from class to class waiting for something interesting to happen" He said.

Kate smiled. " I see, so erm...." she didn't really know what to say and she just took to looking at him. she looked him over making sure her gaze fell on all his features, his eyes, lips, hair, nose, and everything else that she didn't acually look at before. She smiled to herself and let her gaze fall back into his eyes.

John felt her gaze. It made him nervous because he wasnt really confident with his appearance. "You said your favorite class was charms right?" he asked.

" Yes..." she said breaking her gaze blushing a little.

"Do you know any interesting spells?" he said starting to feel less nervous.
