Title: It's All Greek To Me
Description: (( Open ))
Aric Kaiser - January 5, 2007 11:34 PM (GMT)
Aric never imagines that he would be holed up in a library dusty as this one, perusing a Greek-English dictionary. As expected, his letter home has been thoroughly inspected by Archimedes, his tutor in Latin/Greek. It is returned with fewer pen marks than usual, which means the man is pleased.
But the request on the family letter as a reply ticks him off. He is to write his next letter in Greek. Greek is Othello's forte, not his. Hence the dictionary.
"...I'm never writing home again." And he almost means it.

A.J. walked casually into the library carrying her DADA book. She looked around with a sigh for any sign of an empty table. But to her suprise there were none. She spotted a seat open next to Aric, she walked over to him. " Um excuse me...do you mind if I sit here?"

Aric pauses in writing, trying to place the voice, it is something he has fallen into a habit of doing. Realizing that he could not, after a moment, he glances up. Indeed it is a stranger. To his chagrin, he too, reallizes that the library has gotten so full.
He shifts his dictionary and pile of parchment over to make room, "You may."
A.J. Grashina - January 10, 2007 12:16 PM (GMT)
She sits down " thanks." she smiled a little before opening her book and taking out a peice of parchment to start her esay. She didn't want to disturb him but she had to introduce herself. " I'm A.J."
Aric Kaiser - January 11, 2007 01:59 AM (GMT)
Aric pauses, quill still poised above parchment, "...I am Kaiser, Aric Kaiser." Of course, he should have learned by now that family names are almost meaningless here, but old habits are hard to break.
A.J. Grashina - January 11, 2007 11:49 AM (GMT)
" pleasure..." she said softly before looking back at her book and reading the first page.
Aric Kaiser - January 12, 2007 02:06 AM (GMT)
Aric nods briefly but says nothing. He can start if she asks, but this much he has learned from Othello, never give up any information unless simply asked. It makes life easier. He turns back to his letter.
A.J. Grashina - January 12, 2007 02:09 AM (GMT)
She couldn't help herself she was kind of interested in what he was reading. She felt curious so she asked but she hoped she wouldn't irritate him. " So...if you don't mind me asking...what are you doing?"
Aric Kaiser - January 12, 2007 02:12 AM (GMT)
So here it comes, truer words are never spoken by Othello, they would ask, because a commoner would always envy the seeming haven of the rich. "...Writing a letter in a language that I wish didn't exist." He replies blandly, not looking up.
A.J. Grashina - January 12, 2007 02:14 AM (GMT)
He seemed irritated so she just shut up and started writing again.
Aric Kaiser - January 12, 2007 02:20 AM (GMT)
Aric is not used to writing in a crowded library without his customary glass of champagne, mirror and candles. He heaves another sigh and runs a finger down the page, trying to locate the word that he wants. "...What are you doing?" The words slip out before he can help it.
A.J. Grashina - January 12, 2007 02:22 AM (GMT)
" DADA Essay..." she said looking up slightly smiling.
Aric Kaiser - January 12, 2007 02:26 AM (GMT)
"...Sounds more educational than mine." Aric takes out his wand and conjours up a shotglass of champagne under the table, it is small enough to hide. He takes a sip. This Greek dictionary really doesn't deserve to be called a dictionary, but such a statement would mean naught to her.
A.J. Grashina - January 12, 2007 12:25 PM (GMT)
A.J. watched him and raised her eyes brow slightly. She shrugged and smiled getting back to her work.
Aric Kaiser - January 13, 2007 03:28 AM (GMT)
The wine doesn't suit him, at least, not now, it makes his head swim, but Aric can't envision Italian coffee in a shotglass, he is sure that he can't hide anything bigger. He sighs, "...I shouldn't drink while studying..."
A.J. Grashina - January 13, 2007 03:33 PM (GMT)
" Hm, I agree..." she looked up at him again with a smile.
