A.J. sat on the dock her legs pulled to her chest and her arms wrapped around them. She sighed and threw a pebble into the water watching the ripples it made. She got another letter from her mother today about the things going on back home. Her mother insisted that everything was fine but A.J. wasn't stupid she knew what was going on. Her mother cheating on Her father, she was tired of all the lies all the things her mother was trying to hide from her. She had a right to know what was going on. She let her brown hair blow onto her face as she watched the moonlight reflect off the water.

Tynan walked down to the lake. His gait was light and his eyes were on the sky. In his right hand he carried a large bucket of fish. With a little skip he came to the top of slop that led down to the lake. He was about to charge down the hill when he noticed a girl sitting on the dock, she seemed deep in thought. Silently Tynan crept down to the dock and stepped on to it with a thump. At the same time he spoke. "'Scuse me." He said gently, not wanting to startle her.

A.J. jumped slightly when he spoke. She looked up her blue eyes shined in the moonlight. " Hi..." she said softly with a little smile.

"Do you... Ummm D' you mind if I sit down?" He asked, seeming a little nervious. He didn't talk to people alot. He suddenly felt self concious, especially considering he was out, at night, carrying a bucket of fish.

" No not at all!" she moved over a little making room for him. " I'm A.J....." she said smiling.

Tynan sat down next to her, taking care to place the smelly bucket on the side opposite her. "I'm Tynan." He said nodding a greeting. "What brings you down here?" He asked, although he didn't make eye contact, instead he looked out over the lake.

" I don't know I just thought I'd come down here to be alone for a little...just to think about some things..." she said sighing then asked. " You?"

"I... Uh... I came to feed the, uh, squid." Tynan said, turning his face to her with a sheepish smile. "He's sort of a friend of mine." He explained, "The squid I mean."

" Ah I see..." she said with a smile. " Can I help you feed him?"

Tynan stretched his leg out to touch the water. When his toe touched it Tynan splashed the water in what sounded like a code. Then he moved the bucket between them. "He'll be here in a minute." Tynan explained, taking a fish and throwing it into the water. Before the morsal hit the water a tenticle shot out to pluck the fish from the air. Tynan looked at A.J. and smiled.

A.J. smiled when he threw the fish but gasped a little when the squid caught it but laughed a little. She took a fish and threw one in.

Tynan watched as she fed the squid and chuckled. "Not many girls I know will feed a squid." He said in a quite voice, looking her in the eyes. Meanwhile the squid moved closed, now floating on the surface, it's huge, dinner plate eyes gazing indolently at the star studded sky.

A.J. giggled and crossed her legs so she was in and indian style position then looked back into his eyes. " Well you know I'm not like many girls....I'm diffrent you see?!" she said with a smile.

Tynan let his eyes stray over her. "You look like most girls," He said with a wink, "Tell me what makes you different, besides the whole fish, squid thing." Tynan continued to let his legs dangle in the water and threw the last fish to the squid.

A.J. smiled when he winked. " Well I'm not plastic for one thing, and i'm not scared to be myself...most girls think I'm odd, which I am but that's beside the point." she laughed before continueing. " And I have my own style and I'm not afraid to express myself..."

Tynan laughed. "I don't think you're odd." He looked thoughtfully at the now calming water for a moment. "Well, maybe a little odd, but in a good way." He smiled at her.

A.J. smiled back at him. " Well I just have my own style and my own way of doing things is all.."
