[[Okay, so I copied and pasted appearance and personality from my application due to laziness, but I've included her history and backstory as well]]
Appearance: Haruko's father was a Japanese pureblood wizard, and she inherited most of her looks from him. Her hair is just past shoulder-length, and very dark and straight. She has small, almond-shaped eyes, and they are an exotic dark brown and framed with thick black lashes. Her mouth is rather small, and the lips are quite thin and very pale, but they are shaped attractively in a cupid's bow. Her nose has a rather low bridge and very upturned nostrils, and sticks out slightly more than is normal. Her cheekbones are high and prominent, and her eyes are wide-set, lending her overall round face a rather exotic appearance. Her skin is pale, and tinged slightly with yellow; she has the odd freckle and a few pimples.
In build, Haruko stands tall at an unusual 5ft 10". This is especially unusual by the standards of her family. She used to be ashamed of her height, but over time has accepted and even embraced it, finding it brilliant for looking down on people who deserve to be looked down on. She is thin, but the image is more one of wiriness and bones than of slender delicacy. She's all thick wrists and ankles, with an overall solid build. She finds this regrettable as it's hardly the most feminine body shape, but consoles herself with the facts that (a) she is not fat and (cool.gif she has decent-sized breasts. Her feet are quite long, a fact she manages to hide by wearing high heels– placing them at an angle to the ground makes them seem shorter.
Clothes-wise, casual elegance is the name of the game as far as Haruko's concerned. She either wears her hair up in a bun or in an elegant side plait, and takes it down for very special occasions. Her clothes mainly have simple colours and lines, with very few patterns and little detail. She looks dignified above all, even when she hasn't been making much of an effort– Haruko's typical everyday outfits include a tank top and black denim skirt, or a cashmere jumper and black trousers. She rarely wears jeans, but when she does they are either very pale or very dark, and closely cut– Haruko has no patience with those who hide their body under baggy clothes.
Personality: Haruko is not exactly shy, as much as she is reserved– she reveals little about herself to others, but is very willing to make small talk that doesn't delve into who she really is. Likewise, she has a subdued charm that she employs whenever possible, but while making friends easily finds it hard to keep them. Often enough, she gets bored of people and tries to cut them out of her life slowly but surely. She'd be able to make and maintain friends if she was so inclined, but unless someone has a lot in common with her Haruko generally doesn't need them.
Haruko is very ambitious in everything she does, whether it's the OWLs or acquiring a boyfriend. She always aims for the best, and the wily determination this ambition brings out in her means she usually gets nothing less. Born into a wealthy pure-blood family, she has always been privileged; however, unlike many of her pure-blood peers, she has taken pull advantage of her position. There are many things one could accuse Haruko of, but laziness is not one of them. She studies very hard, straining herself to the maximum and then some; she doesn't want to just be another pure-blood daughter, wife and mother, married off to the heir of some important family. Independence is another of Haruko's core values, and she wants to be able to make her own living should the need arise. Hence, she spends a lot of her spare time studying, and as she's intelligent her grades match her effort. It's gotten to the point where she goes to answer in class, and the other students groan loudly.
Haruko does have a softer side, and if someone doesn't get in the way of her ambition they may never discover that there is more to her than this. Quick with compliments and rather generous when she can afford to be, Haruko has a rather likeable demeanor at times. Though she feels pure-bloods are generally superior wizards to half-bloods and muggle-borns, she admits that there are exceptions to this rule and, though arguing for separation between the blood classes, insists that non-pure-bloods do have something to offer to society– even if they aren't as important as the naturally superior pure-bloods.
History: Haruko's parents both come from prominent pure-blood families, though from different parts of the world. Haruko's father, Yuki, was the heir of the major Japanese pure-blood family, the Sakamotos, while her mother, Evaline, is English and comes from the Glyffing family, also a major dynasty, of Caterton, Oxfordshire. A marriage was arranged between the two by their families as part of a clan-wide alliance when they left school, and Haruko's mother moved to Japan to live with her new husband. Shortly after Haruko was born, however, her father died, killed by the Avada Kedavra curse– the supposed perpetrator was a member of a rival family, but the case has never been satisfactorily resolved.
Haruko's mother Evaline had no choice but to return to England, this time with a daughter in tow. Her wealthy parents gladly took her in; they had missed their daughter, but knew that the marriage alliance was more important than personal sentiment. They were slightly disappointed that Haruko was a girl, as since they had no son they had been hoping to instead pass the family fortune on to a grandson; however, in spite of themselves they came to love their grand-daughter as much as they were capable of. She was thus brought up on the family estate, and probably would have turned out arrogant and spoiled but for her mother. Humbled by the sudden and startling death of her husband, Evaline had resolved to make her daughter realise that being pureblood and from a good family did not make one invincible, or even universally liked. This injection of common sense mingled with her grandparents' praise and pressurising her to do better, creating the present day Haruko.
