Amberly-Lynn sat staring at the lake with her arms crossed over her knees. She felt a little shy because she didn't know anyone. She wasn't used to feeling uncomfortable around people and wasn't sure what to do with the emotion. So, she sat staring silently, hoping that it would pass soon.

John walked along the shore of the lake. Spring was coming and he could feel it. John loved the outdoors and when the weather is warm he is just about always out there. He noticed a girl he didnt recognize sitting near the shore so he walked over. "hello" he said.

Amberly heard someone speak and looked up to find a boy standing before her. Oh, hi." She said cheerfully. She was happy to have someone to talk to.

"My name's John" he said with a smile.

Amber stood up to face him. "I'm Amberly." she replied unsure of what else to say.

"Nice to meet you Amberly" John replied. "Did you come out here to think too?" he asked.

Amberly thought about it for a moment. "I guess so. That's what I've been doing anyway." she finally replied with a smile.

John nodded "I find it difficult to concentrate inside the castle" He explained. John glanced at the lake.

"I don't." She commented. "I can get lost in my thoughts no matter where I am or what's going on." She also directed her gaze to the lake.

"Do you think thats a good thing or a bad thing?" He asked her. He watched a hawk fly over the lake.

(OOC: Sorry it took me so long to reply.)

IC:"Depends on the situation you're in." She said thoughtfully. "If you're in class or a meeting it's bad. But if you just need time to think, it's wonderful." She looked back at him.

ooc: dont worry about it

ic: "Exactly" He said with a smile. He picked up a small rock and attempted to skip it on the surface of the lake.

"I'm glad to know you agree." Amberly smiled. Amberly didn't know what else to say, so she waited for him to say something.

John felt uneasy in the awkward silence. He adjusted his sunglasses "Do you have a favorite class?" He asked.

"You mean whiich do I hate the least?" she asked with a small smile. "I would have to say Astronomy. School has never been my thing." Amberly admitted "Same question." She told him.

"I like Defense against the dark arts, but thats about it" He said.

"I guess that class is okay ." she replied . "So," She said as she felt that conversation beginning to die down, "what do you do in your free time?"

"I usually try to learn new spells to.." John caught himself "You know find interesting ones" He said. He didnt want to say anything about what he almost let slip.

"Oh...Okay." She said. It seemed like he was about to say something else but he caught himself. Maybe it was just her imagination. "Well, I guess that would be...interesting." She felt like she wasn't being told the whole truth. But then again, she was a little paranoid sometimes.

"What do you like to do in your free time" He asked trying to regain his composure.

"I'm not exactly a creature of habit. I don't like doing the same thing too much, but if I had to say what I like to do the most, it's reading." She said trying to shake the feeling that he was hiding something.
