Title: Cover

I dunno if you guys saw it, but the cover for DH was released. Personally, I don't really like it. I wanted it to be a solid color like OTP or HBP. I guess it's okay though. The back is cool.

I kind of like the contrast because on HBP and OOTP there is like..no focal point or anything and the main objects don't really stand out. But this one is definitely less fun to look at. All that's on there is like..Harry. And on the back.. Voldy. What's up with that?
I liked how the other covers had objects and NEW people to make you think "WHO ARE THOSE PEOPLE!? WHAT ARE THOSE CRAZY OBJECTS?!" before you read the book.
But I am wondering what the arena is.. Hmm..

The American Covers are always crap compared to the British ones. This applies to almost all books - publishers must think that Brits need a more attracted cover to buy it....
In terms of the UK cover, I like it - it fits well with the rest and has some interesting images on.

I like Mary GrandPre's style and I actually LOVE the cover of the 4th book. But it kind of annoys me that the people look so cartoony. I don't know.

The English cover looks terrible from what they showed on TV... or the children one does not seen the adult one. Anyway- it looks terrible.

Obviously what you and I percieve as good are totally different.
Example:
US Version - Total Crap:

British Version: Awesome Cover

We have two different book covers for the Harry Potter ones and the children one this time is absolutely terrible.

There is no mystery with either of the covers. I think that's bad. If the illustrators weren't given adequate information about the story, that's Jo's fault.
Just a side question, why is there a British version and a US version? We both speak English... The only basic difference is that we spell some words differently.
Flame Lestrange - April 5, 2007 08:26 AM (GMT)
Noone is actually sure- just the publishers I guess.

With most international books there are different cover types.
My guess is that different covers sell better in the US Market than they do in the UK, on the whole I think we get the better deal and US covers are quite shoddy in comparison.

So what do the covers tell us? The adult version UK has what looks like a rune or maybe a locket on it... I think it must be a horcrux, or horcrux finder maybe? The children's version features a similar item. The US version has some kind of coliseum or something... What's the deal with the hands being so big on the US version?
