Title: Making a dent in the home work armor
Description: ~*Anyone, please*~
William Cobring - April 26, 2007 12:21 AM (GMT)
Will walked into the Library feeling a bit guilty. Since his absence, a steady growing pile of homwork grew in his dorm room. It was time to sit down and get to work as he dropped the huge load onto one of the old tables. Then he walked to the book shelves to find the proper books he needed to complete his research.
Brinlynn Bennett - May 12, 2007 01:23 PM (GMT)
Brinlynn had been walking all around the great school, taking in anything and everything. The only spot she had yet to see was the Library. She walked in and her mouth dropped open. It was huge! Giantic piles of books were stacked all over the place. Some where flying over her head while others were situating themselves back in one of the many bookshelves.
"Wow," she whispered in her thick Texas accent.
Suddenly excited to explore the largest library she'd ever encountered, Brin walked in taking long strides eyeing every shelve, book, and oak table that she passed. The library was fairy empty, which dissapointed her, but she figured she'd stumble upon someone soon. Just as that thought came to mind, she turned a corner and found a boy standing alone, obviously looking for a book. Behind him was a rather old table with a large pile of books and papers stacked upon it. Brin walked towards him with a smile on her face. Despite her fervish exporing, she had yet to come upon anybody. Maybe this person would be her first Hogwarts aquantience?
"Hey, you need any help? I couldn't help but notice that huge pile of books behind you..."
With one hand, she grabbed one of her braids, twirling the end back and forth between her fingers, awaiting the answer of the boy.
William Cobring - May 13, 2007 03:53 PM (GMT)
"Wha... Oh, me?"
He said turning from the book shelf to face you, pointing to himself.
"Well, the only help I'll need is help finding a coffin. Theres no way I can get all of this done."
He turned back around and continued searching through the books.
"Hey, heres the one!"
He exclaimed excitedly as he placed his hand on his long lost book. But as soon as he did, it flew from the shelf, knocking him to the floor as it began to fly to another destination.
"Quick! Catch it!"
Brinlynn Bennett - May 13, 2007 06:11 PM (GMT)
She giggled, "Yes you, silly. I don't see anyone else around here. It looks like you could use some help." At the boy's next comment, she tilted her head slightly to the left, confused. "A coffin? What, someone's dyin'?" She figured that it must be some sort of joke, so she blew it off.
"My name's Brin, by the way and I-" she was cut off by the boy's excited exclamation. She giggled again, her thick accent showing through. "Well dang. I didn't know it was that important to-" Once again, she was cut off, this time by the book that the boy had reached for. Quickly, she ducked as the book zoomed over her head. For a split second, she looked back at the boy, who was now on the floor, for conformation. Yes, he DID need that book.
Brinlynn quickly shrugged and then took off after the book, leaving the boy sitting on the floor. She ran, dodging other flying books and tall stacks of encyclopedias. Her arms were streached out as far as they could go, she was determined to catch this flying misfit of a book. After a moment, she got smart. In the blink of an eye, she jumped on top of one of the shorter stacks of books and lunged off of it, only to tumble down on the library floor. In her arms was a thick writhing book: the one she was looking for! Sheepishly, she grinned. "Guess 9 years of pig chasin' has paid off."
William Cobring - May 13, 2007 06:19 PM (GMT)
He quickly ran over to you, kneeling down on the floor with a look of concern on his face.
"My God, are you okay?"
For a breif moment, he lost his old British style cool seeing her fly through the air.
Brinlynn Bennett - May 13, 2007 09:23 PM (GMT)
Brin giggled. Was he worried about her? "Yeah, I'm fine. I was a pig wrestler for a few years back in the States, so this is nothin' new. I've actually got quite a name for myself back home." Remembering her old home made her smile.
Still holding the rather large book in her arms, Brinlynn looked down at it and giggled again. "I believe this is for you." She looked up at the boy with a grin. Scrunching her nose a bit, she spoke again, "Easy cheesy." Once more she laughed.
Brinlynn looked up at the boy, her light green eyes curious as to just who she's just dove off of a stack of books for. "So, you got yourself a name?" Feeling a bit silly sitting on the floor, she stood up and dusted herself off, the thick book still held tightly in one hand. She then held out her other hand to the boy, offering him a hand to help him up off the ground.
William Cobring - May 14, 2007 01:04 AM (GMT)
He took her hand in his and stood up, brushing himself off as well.
"Pig wresteling huh?
He said a little confused.
"Erm, I'm Will. Or William. Whichever. Oh here, I'll take that."
He said offering to take the book for her. Judging from her accent, she was not from around here. And this made him a little intrigued.
"And you are?"
Brinlynn Bennett - May 14, 2007 02:21 AM (GMT)
Brinlynn smiled excitidly as she helped him up. This was the first person that she had spoken to since she'd gotten here, besides the teachers, naturally. Finally, she was experiencing what she had transfered for.
"Oh yea." She grinned at the thought of her large Gold Medal hanging up in her dorm. Engraved in it was her name and Pig Wrestling Campion - Girl's Division. It was her pride and joy. "I've been pig wrestling for a long time, now. I guess you could say it's kinda a hobby of mine. I really enjoy it. Actually, it was my Aunt Patrice that got me into it. She's the one that first taught me how to-" Brin stopped herself. She was rambling, like she ALWAYS did. "Sorry. When I get worked up, I have a tendency to be a bit of a motor mouth." She smiled sheepishly, casting her eyes to the ground. "So don't be afraid to just shut me up every now and then. I won't take it the wrong way or anythin'."
She looked up at the boy that she was talking to. He definately didn't look like one of the boys back home. What a lovely change. Plus, she adored his accent. She thought it was a little funny, but figured that he was probably just as weirded out by hers. "Well hey, William," she said in her Texas drawl. "I'm Brin. Or Brinlynn. Whichever." She winked at him playfully, taking the words that he'd just used into her own introduction. "It's very nice to meet you."
Brin sat staring at him for a second and then got a bit nervous. She looked away quickly. What was her problem? She NEVER got nervous around anyone! She told herself that it was simply the fact that this was the first person she'd officially met in her new school. Or maybe it was that British accent of his...
Casting her eyes away from his, the light green orbs fell to the emblem on his robes. Red and Gold. "So you're from Gryffindor? What's that like?"
William Cobring - May 14, 2007 07:09 PM (GMT)
"Oh, I don't mind. I've been known to go on for ages as well. It's a little embarassing though."
He said happy to meet somone who shared the same curse. Rampling syndrome.
"Yep, Gryffindor. It's alright. I really don't get along with anyone in my house though. I guess I'm kind of a outcast."
He said looking down at the emblem on his chest. The Lion. Heh, that was humorous.
Brinlynn Bennett - May 14, 2007 10:15 PM (GMT)
Really? Was he really just like her? Did he really have the same tendency to chatter on an on? She smiled inwardly, perfect.
She then gave him that same titled head thing that she had before. Once again, she was confused. "An outcast? Such a nice guy like you couldn't possibly an outcast." She gave him another wink, but he really didn't know just how close he had hit home. True, it was easy for her to chat her way through any situation, but she simply wasn't one to make friends easily. Her chatter mouth usually drove everyone away. Thinking about the situation with William, a light suddenly went off in her head, "Well I guess we're just two of a kinda, eh?" She smiled at him, a pearly white smile.
Brinlynn was busy thinking about how William had really been the only one to warm up to her since her arrival when she looked down to see the thick book in the boy's hands. "So what exactly was it that I just jumped off a stack of books for?" Really, it wasn't such a big deal that she'd jumped off a bookstack. It was more the fact that she'd jumped off a bookstack for someone she didn't know for a book that she knew nothing about. Did it have some sort of top secret important information in it? Or was it just a bitof light reading that William had been planning to catch up on?
William Cobring - May 15, 2007 12:50 AM (GMT)
"Well, not an outcast outcast. It's just not too many people in my house see things in my point of view. They like prim and proper. I like a little excitment."
He said laughing a bit at an old memory of him and a freind from Ravenclaw. He then looked down at the book in his arms.
"This? Just a bit of Astronomy. The peak of my homwork mountain. And really, thanks again for retriving it. You basically save my life."
He was being truthful. He didn't know what the professer would of done if he skipped his homwork assighment again. He then thought about the expression on the professers face seeing he'd skipped it again.
"Priceless"
He muttered to himself as he grinned.
Brinlynn Bennett - May 15, 2007 09:23 PM (GMT)
Brinlynn nodded her head. She knew exactly what he meant. She then raised an eyebrow. "Excitement? What kind of excitment?" Under her thick lashes, she looked directly into the boy's eyes. She was gonna like this kid. She could tell. At this point, the boy laughed. She raised her eyebrow to him once again and then let it go. He was obviously simply thinking to himself.
"Oh, Astronomy!" Whilst being taught by her mother back in Texas, Astronomy had become one of her favorite subjects. She had also enjoyed Defense Against the Dark Arts and Charms, but there was just....something....about the stars that amazed her. "I'm actually pretty good with Astronomy. Mind if I take a jab at that homework of yours? Maybe I can help you knock it out quickly." When William told her that she's basically saved his life, she blushed a bit and looked down. "Oh, it was nuthin' really. Anythin' for a friend." Before she could catch herself, the word has slipped out. Friend. Was that was he was? A friend? Well, she could already tell that she really enjoyed his company. And she HAD jumped into the air for him. Then again, she had only just met him...Well, maybe he just wouldn't realize that she had said it at all.
Will muttered to himself. Something about being "priceless." She laughed, "Do you always talk you yourself, William?"
William Cobring - May 15, 2007 09:30 PM (GMT)
"Well, you know. The kind of excitment that gets you, erm..... excited. I'll show you somtime."
He said nodding and smiling.
"So wait, your good at Astronomy? Thank God. I just can't get it. It looks like you'll save my life once again. Let's do it"
He began to walk back to the table when he caught your last comment.
"Somtimes. I just had a minor flashback. That's all."
Brinlynn Bennett - May 15, 2007 10:29 PM (GMT)
She laughed again. Just like she did, he stumbled over her words. "Yea. I guess I am pretty good at Astronomy. My mom got be really into it back at home, and i've been sticking to it ever since." Thinking of back home made her smile slightly. She missed her mom. Silently, she made a mental note to go off to the owlery later to write her momma a letter. She'd barely been gone three days and she already missed her dearly.
William began walking back to the table with the book still in hand, so Brin followed suit. "Ooh," she began. "Well at least you're not crazy, then." She winked at him and kept walking. As she came to the table, her green eyes grew wide. "You weren't kiddin' when you said you had a lot of homwork, were ya?" Eyes still wide, she grabbed a seat, flipped it backwards, and sat it in with the backrest pressing against her stomach. "Well, let's get started..."
William Cobring - May 15, 2007 10:37 PM (GMT)
"Alright, well you can take this."
Hands you the Astronomy book.
"And I'll get to work on Potions."
This was miserable. Was he really going to start doing his homwork? Unbelievable. This must be a dream. Or really, a nightmare.
Brinlynn Bennett - May 17, 2007 10:11 PM (GMT)
She took the Astronomy book in her hands and flipped through the first few pages. She loved Astronomy, but this was crazy! She was going to need a microscope to read these words. The font was so small that she had to squint to see them. Yikes! She pursed her lips and looked up at William to see if he was really working. He really was pretty easy on the eyes.
Quickly, she looked away. She barely knew this person and already she was thinking about what it would be like to walk around with his arm draped around her shoulder. Shaking her head, she flipped through the next few pages. Brin sighed, this was ridiculous! She looked around the library before sighing again. She snuck another glance at the boy next to her, blushing and looking away again. Hopefully, he didn't notice that the flirt in her was coming out. She didn't want to scare him away. Imagine, the first person she met to have been scared away by her flirtatious nature.
"You're not REALLY doing your homework, are you?" She knew she was supposed to be working, but she really couldn't help it! "Besides, I ususally don't help with homework till the third date," she joked. She giggled again, the thought that they weren't going to actually get any homework done floated through her mind.
William Cobring - May 18, 2007 12:05 AM (GMT)
"Heh, you figured me out."
He said putting the huge book down and smiling. He really didn't notice it before, but this girl sitting next to him wasn't that bad looking. After a few moments of just stareing at her, he realized what he was doing and quickly looked away. Blushing ever so slightly.
"I was actually hopeing that you had other plans in mind. I mean, if you want to that is"
He said hopeing that she to wanted to drop this hopeless task and find somthing to do.
Brinlynn Bennett - May 18, 2007 12:29 AM (GMT)
Once more, she sighed, but this time in relief. "Thank goodness." Brin looked at the boy and grinned. "I've got an idea, but..." She stopped herself. Narrowing her light green eyes at him, she pondered. "Well, I don't know if you're game enough for it." She giggled to herself. She knew that no boy could really resist a challange. This was going to be fun.
"Unless, of course," she added, "You'd rather go up to your common room and finish all that homework of yours." Her southern drawl gave her challange a bit on an edge. Lucky for her, he most likely had no clue that fun with a girl from Texas could get a bit 'down and dirty'. Pushing herself away from the table and standing up, Brin looked down at Will and smiled again. She reached into her robes, pulled out her wand and raised it in the air, "Accio Gamebook." With a lopsided grin across her freckled face, Brin waited patiently for her giant red bounded book. It zoomed in through the library doors and settled easily into her hands. The cover read Bored Games.
Brinlynn then raised one brown eyebrow at Will, "So, you game?"
William Cobring - May 19, 2007 12:58 AM (GMT)
"Oh, I'm game."
He said with a grin. He hoped this would be eventful. Even though the cover read board games, which he was not a fan of, this could be good.
"Mind if I take a look?"
He asked eyeing the book.
Brinlynn Bennett - May 20, 2007 12:17 AM (GMT)
She grinned. "It's all your's." She handed him the thick book, hoping that he would flip through it and find something that he would be interested in. Back in Texas, Brinlynn had made many memories using this book. With old friends on a rainy day, she would flip through the pages and find something interesting to play. Usually, everyone would have a great time goofing off and laughing till their sides hurt.
Silently, Brin laughed to herself. Remembering a particular time when her friends used the book to entertain themselves brought a giggle to her lips. She always had a great time when this book was involved.
"So, you find anythin' you like?" She looked at Will interested. She wondered which page attracted his fancy. She was pretty sure that she'd played every one of the games before and could definately admit that every single game was a bundle of laughs in itself.
William Cobring - May 20, 2007 11:02 PM (GMT)
He flipped through the book. Every now and then stopping and reading. Finnaly he decided to just flip through and randomly select the first on he landed on. So he did.
"What is 'I've Never' ?"
He asked after selecting the page.
Brinlynn Bennett - May 20, 2007 11:29 PM (GMT)
Brinlynn watched as the blonde flipped through the book. Again, she found herself staring at him for just a second too long. When he spoke, she jumped, thinking that she had been caught. Lucky for her, she hadn't. Smiling, she replied, "That's one of my favorites." She walked around behind him and peeked over her shoulder, reading the print on the worn page explaining the game. "Basically, you say 'I've never...', hence the title, and then say something that you've never done. If the other person HAS done it, they have to, well-" She stopped, trying to find some other way to pay out the consequences. Usually, the other person would drink a shot of some strong sort of whiskey. Being in a brand new school, though, Brin didn't think it would be too terribly smart to whip out whiskey on her first day. Quickly looking around, a replacement for the alcohol suddenly popped into her head.
Clearing her throat, she continued, "If the other person HAS done it, they have to admit something about them that the other person would never possibly guess." She blushed and looked down at her shoes, "Kinda lame, I know. But trust me when I say that the other option could seriously be dangerous." She looked at him, still peeking over his shoulder. At that moment, Brin suddenly realized just how close to him she was. Barely two inches of air seperated their faces. Embarassed, she pulled away and walked forward so that she was now facing him. "Again, I say, you game?" She winked at him, blushed just a bit and continued flirting with him with her eyes. She really hoped that he chose this game. That way, she could find a whole lot about him without seeming extremely stalkerish.
William Cobring - May 20, 2007 11:36 PM (GMT)
He looked into your eyes and smiled.
"Sounds fun. I'm game. But you'll have to start off. Just so I can better understand the concept."
This game sounded fun. Sort of a version of truth or dare. Which he loved.
"So whenever your ready."
He said eager to get started.
Brinlynn Bennett - May 20, 2007 11:56 PM (GMT)
She nodded. "Alright then." Brinlynn lightly chewed her lip, thinking. "I've never.... stolen anythin'." She then added, "Well, not anythin' important." She grinned at Will, wondering just what exactly this game was going to lead to. She had all sorts of dares already thought up and couldn't wait to use them!
"Might as well get comfortable," she thought silently to herself. Gently, she eased herself onto the old wooden table. She pushed back papers and books that were stacked on it to the opposite edge, making room for herself. As she waited for the boy's reply, she shoved the papers in the spot next to he aside, offering the Gryffindor the seat.
William Cobring - May 21, 2007 12:00 AM (GMT)
"Oh, I have."
He said thinking back.
"Do I have to admit what it was?"
He asked smiling at the great time he had.
Brinlynn Bennett - May 21, 2007 12:28 AM (GMT)
She grinned. "Yea, you DO have to admit what it was. Otherwise, what would be the point of the game?" She giggled again, wondering just what his story was. "Oh, and then you also have to tell me something that I never woulda guessed." She looked deep into his eyes and lightly bit her lip. Her thick Texas drawl was very present now. Laughing to herself, Brin noticed that every time she flirted with someone, her drawl seemed to be more prominent.
"He sure is cute," she kept thinking. She could barely take her eyes off of him, but for sake of pure embarassment, placed her eyes on her feet, which were now swinging back and forth. She continued to offer the boy the seat next to her, this time lightly patting the old wood, indicating the offer. "Other then that, it's your turn."
William Cobring - May 21, 2007 12:36 AM (GMT)
"Well I guess your right. What would be the point?"
He said happily taking the seat next to her.
"Well, it was a broomstick. But not just any broomstick. It was a Nimbus series. Oh man, it was beautiful. Hand crafted. Unlimited speed. Everything. So one day, we were on Diagon Alley. Me and a few freinds. And I walked in and just, took it."
He said stareing off for a few seconds. Miles away. Then comming back.
"The joy ride only lasted a few minutes. But it was amazing. Right untill and Arour caught me. Some bloke with the last name Skelling. But yeah, that was my story. Boring I know."
He said blushing a bit.
"So now it's my turn?"
Brinlynn Bennett - May 21, 2007 12:48 AM (GMT)
Brin raised her eyebrows at the boy, "Oh, very risky." She laughed. She was being sarcastic of course, but didn't really want to show too much sarcasm, since she'd never really stolen anything herself. Then again, it was a very nice broom that he'd taken....
"Yupp, it's your turn." She turned her torso slightly to face him a bit more, locking eyes with his; this time, unfaultering. "But you forgot your punishment. Along with the explanation, you also have to state something that's true about you that I never woulda guessed, remember?"
She smiled deeply, one dimple showing lightly in her left cheek. She always thought it made her look childish, but her momma constantly reminded her that it was a simple trait that gave her "character." She'd always rolled her eyes jokingly when her momma went on the "you're beautiful just the way you are" speech, but vaguely realized that maybe her mother knew what she was talking about.
Bringing her head out of the clouds, she continued to lock eyes with the boy, awaiting his portion of the game.
William Cobring - May 21, 2007 12:52 AM (GMT)
"Welllll"
This one he had to think about. One thing that she would never guess.
"I am really happy that you came over to help me with my homwork. Not because you came to help. But just because you came."
He blushed. Oh no, had he went too far with that one?
Brinlynn Bennett - May 21, 2007 01:08 AM (GMT)
Brin gasped a bit, but in a good way. She definately wasn't expecting that one. She blushed madly and looked down. Brin smiled to herself as her insides squirmed. The pink in her cheeks, she was very sure, would soon spread to her entire face, embarassing her beyond belief. She then looked up at Will, still blushing madly, and grinned a very sweet sort of grin. "I am, too."
Her green eyes flashed with excitment. This was all so crazy! Could she possibly be crushing so hard on this boy? She confirmed with herself that it was very possible. "I believe it's still your turn, William." Brinlynn practically cooed his name, looking up at him through her thick lashes. Butterflies soared through the pit of her stomach as she looked at Will. She felt like she could sit on the library table for ages and still have an amazing time with the boy. She, obviously, would never say that aloud, but still thought it quite loudly.
