I am probably the only person who didn't know this, but:
Tthe Philosopher's Stone was believed be a real stone and Nicholas Flammel was a real person. He and his wife were believed to have been the only alchemists to successfully create one of the stones. I learned in history today what they believed it was made of. I thought it was pretty cool that the Philosopher's Stone in Harry Potter was based off of a true story. I was actually interested in the lesson for once.
I had heard of it before, but I never knew any of the details of it.
Anyway, this is moved to the HP discussion forum, since...well, it's HP discussion.

Yeah, I've heard that too. I think they just published a book about him, its called the alchimist or something like that. I saw it at the book store the other day.
