*Dorien was sitting in the shadows in the library after hours. Mostly everyone else was alseep but not Dorien. He was sitting on the floor, looking out into the halls. If anyone walked by they would probably see his eyes and then when they looked again they would see all of him.*

Darian being extremely bored at this hour in the night, was found looking for a book to read. She looked up and down the isles of books and couldn't find anything that interested her. She then saw somone sitting and said "Who are you?"

*Melanie was walking around with Mark in her arms. He couldn't sleep (as usual) so she decided to stroll about Hogwarts with him. If he couldn't sleep, she couldn't either. She walked past the library and almost peed herself when she saw eyes. She stopped and looked back, this time seeing a person. They scared her a little...okay, a lot. Most people who hid in the shadows in the middle of the night were not the best people to be around. She stared at him. If any sudden movements were made, she would run.*



~Mel

*Dorien smiled a little when he saw a girl out in the hall. He stood gracefully and walked over to her slowly. He hadn't used his hands to get up just to add to the affect. He moved to her slowly* "You look like you could use some sleep." *He said to mel* "No offence of course."

*Melanie tilted her head an looked at him oddly. Oh yeah, he was creepy.*
Melanie:"I'm fine." *she replied simply, even though she was so tired that she was afraid of falling over.*"I sleep during the day...at night I play with my....snail and maggot collection." *she replied, trying to creep him out so he'd leave her alone and not hurt her or Mark.*"So I might look tired, but that's because...everyone looks tired at night."

*Of course she had absolutely no idea how stupid she sounded. She's Mel, she never notices things like that.*



~Mel

"Snail and maggot collection....I have one of those." *He said with a small smile. He looked down at Mark and smiled* "Your son is very cute.....he is your son, right?" *HE asked, looking back to mel. His eyes were very light, not just in color but in mood*

*Melanie backed away from him and covered Mark more. If he tried to hurt him...the strange boy would die. Painfully and slowly.*
Melanie:"My collection kicks you collections arse." *she challenged, avoiding the subject of Mark so maybe he would forget that he was there and then not hurt him.*"One of my snails is...sparkly." *she explained to him.*



~Mel

"Mmmm, I'm jealous. I wish I had a sparkly snail." *He said, watching her back up. He was suprised that she was acting like this so soon. normally people did eventually but not untill they'd found out what he was* "Is everything ok?" *He asked, not taking his eyes off mel*

Melanie:"I miss my pet lobster." *she replied*"His name is Elmo...dunno if you know where that's from...I do. I like to give Elmo kisses. He snaps at me...I threaten to eat him for dinner...he stops."*Mel was trying to be as creepy as possible so he would get the heck away from her and never try to hurt her or Mark. Ever.*"I once ate one of my maggots. It was good. I like eating maggots."



~Mel

*Dorien sighed* "Alright I can take a hint." *He turned and retreated back to where he had been sitting in the library.* "SOrry I bothered you." *He closed his eyes and tilted his head back, waiting for mel to leave seeing as that was obviously what she wanted*

Melanie:"You didn't bother me." *she lied, trying to make it so that it wasn't obvious that he scared the crap out of her. He was even scarier now that she couldn't really see him again.*"You bothered my maggots and snails. When I don't talk to them at a certain time they have a rebellion against me and attack me with...jello." *Jello? How the HELL would maggots and snails attack someone with jello? It just didn't make sense, but maybe it would make Dorien think that she was crazy.*"Lime jello." *she added, just to be more specific*"Sometimes when they run out they have to use kiwi."



~Mel

"That's nice." *He said, obviously irritated that she was acting like this* "Ok, look, if I'm scary or you think that I'm going to hurt you or your baby, why don't you just leave? You don't have to stand there and mock me." *He stood and walked deeper into the shadows between the stacks of books. He couldn't be seen at all now*

Melanie:"STOP MAKING FUN OF MY SNAILS!" *she shouted, pretending to be overly sensitive and phsycotic. No, that wasn't very hard for her.*"THEY'RE VERY CUTE. THE MAGGOTS ARE EVEN CUTER BUT DON'T LET THE SNAILS KNOW THAT!"

*she completely avoided mention of anything that Dorien had just spoken about, wanting him to think that she was crazy, not mean.*



~Mel

"Sod off." *He muttered from where he was in between the stacks. However the library was so big it would be extreamly difficult to pinpoint exactly where he was located. Dorien was really hurt that she was treating him so rudely. Had he been very hungry she could have been in danger. Not purposly, but his hunger and anger combined wern't really that great. Lucky for her, he wasn't hungry*

*Then Mel realized that she was upsetting him rather than creeping him out and stopped. Mel couldn't take people being mad or upset with her for very long before going all mommy on them. She walked into the library for the first time, not going too far in since she didn't want to run into a bookshelf or something stupid like that.*
Melanie:"Hey...I'm sorry. I didn't want to upset you....The people who walk around here at night are normally perverts or pshycopaths. I know because I'm one of them...one of the nutters, I mean."*she explained to him.*"So I ...tried to creep you out so you wouldn't try to suck my blood or something." *obviously that was Mel just kidding since she didn't know that he was a vampire. She had a way for saying stupid things around people....this entire topic so far proves that*



~Mel

*Dorien was quiet for a moment, calculating what she had said. He decided to test the waters* "What would i want to suck your blood for?" *He asked, just wanting to hear what she said. This would be the determining question for if she really knew what he was or if it was all a coincidence. Before he said this he moved, vampire speed, to the other side of the library so his voice would sound like it was coming from a lisghtly different place* now lets see if I can creep you out a little...

*Melanie was shocked by the sudden change of location of his voice, but figured she was just really tired. She looked down and saw that Mark was asleep and figured that that was it. Normally once she was asleep she felt like passing out.*
Melanie:"I dunno...because you were really hungry and thought that I looked like a bananna or something."



~Mel

"I was thinking more like lime jello." *He said sarcastically, going to a compleatly different location. Only now he was in her field of vision. He stood there quietly , waiting fer her to ramble on some moe about feeding her baby dead hampsters or washing her hair with coffee grounds*

*Melanie turned and saw him. She looked at him cautiously*
Melanie:"Don't hurt me...because right now it looks like you're going to....I'm tougher than I look." *she told him. She couldn't defend herself for crap if she didn't have a wand, but after all she had been through it was harder to hurt her*"So if you're some sort of sadist...I'm not the kind of person you want to hurt."



~Mel

"I am not a sadist." *He said wearily, looking away* "You're good at offending people. That's twice and I don't even know your name. How informal. Mines Dorien. Now you can propperly insult me." *He had a calm smile but youcould tell he was being compleatly serious*

Melanie:"Well you're scaring me! What do you want me to do, be all bright bubbly and happy as I grin and say 'Hi, I'm Melanie Hunter and it's a great and sunny day for me'?!"*she asked him incredulously. She wasn't TRYING to offend him, but it seemed like he wanted her to be like some sort of freaky barbie doll or something.*




~Mel

"I'm not going to hurt you." *He said calmly then took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. He had been smelling the air but unless she was an expert on vampires or onw herself, which she most deffinetly wasn't, she probably wouldn't realize this.* "You're not my taste" *He said darkly, the smile gone from his face*

*Melanie laughed, taking that to be a joke not like he actually did have a taste in people.*
Melanie:"What is your taste then?" *she asked, continuing the 'joke'.*"Don't say babies." *she warned him, smiling afterwards. It was obvious that she didn't mean anything by it since she was smiling and stuff...she was just extremelly naive and stupid and just...Mel.*


~Mel

"No......most deffinetly not. Espically not sweet ones like yours....now, those ones that cry all the time and throw things at me....they're a different story." *He said with a smile, obviously kidding with her*

Melanie:"So you only like sour people? Could you eat Delilah Ferrari for me, then?" *she asked.*"She's a slut." *this was before Mel had found out the Delilah had been sleeping with Liam, of course. If it wasn't, Mel would have said many more, even crueler things about the girl. It wouldn't have been pretty at all. If it turned out that Dorien was friends with Delilah...that was just too bad.*



~Mel

"I've never met her...I know her sister Cecelia very well." *He sighed* "Actually, Cecelia was recently mistaken dor delilah and was chased down the hall and cursed....she came to me in the room of requirement bleeding and crying."

Melanie:"Oh, Cecelia is fine. Delilah on the other hand...." *she sighed*"Will have sex with anything that moves. She's a drama queen and an attention seeker. It's disgusting. I don't know how anyone likes her, I really don't. In fact, I don't think anyone really DOES like her. They either just pretend or they want her for a good time."


~Mel

"That's what Cecelia said." *He told her as he leaned against the wall8 "I heard she had a boy friend though." *He shrugged, not really caring* "So what's your son's name? Or am I still too scary to qualify to recieve that information?"

Melanie:"Mark." *she replied*"He's about a year old by now. He's growing up so quickly. My parents used to say that and I'd get embarassed and thing that they were crazy, but it's true. Kids grow up too quickly."



~Mel

I wouldn't know... "Do you find him hard to take care of with school and all? I mean, it would be a lot of responsibility...I don't think I could do it. I'm too easily frusterated" *He looked down at the sleeping baby and then back up to mel*

Melanie:"It's hard sometimes." *She started*"Most times I have help, though, so I'm not taking care of him 24-7. Sometimes my friends will watch him for me, sometimes my brothers will, and of course his daddy does, too. It's still stressful, though. Especially last year, since it was O.W.L. year for me and my best friend, and N.E.W.T year for my other best friend. It was hard to find a way to get him looked after. He's still alive, though." *she pointed out*"Which means all of the stress is worth it."


*She was rambling again, but Mel rambled about 90% of the time she talked, so it was pretty normal.*



~Mel

*Dorien smiled* "Well, they say whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger." *He smiled, enjoying a private joke* "So how many siblings do you have? Juts brothers?" *He asked, changing the subject*

*Melanie smiled*
Melanie:"No, I have a little sister, too, but she's 7 and...she wasn't here to take care of Mark...plus I would NOT trust a 7-year-old with my son for a long period of time. I have two brothers, and they're both here. The oldest is turning 13 soon, and the youngest is 12. They're both 2nd years, though. I don't know if you know them or not....Probably not." *she smirked*



~Mel

*He smiled a little* "No, I can't say I know them. However, I do believe I saw a little girl running around in the halls the other day. Red hair....small bundle of energy.....very loud for her side. She couldn't be your sister, could she?"

Melanie:"Oh, that's definitely her." *she started to laugh*"I love her to death. She's so adorable! Everything she does makes me want to give her a humongous hug." *she still felt bad about not being able to take care of Becky full time, but it wasn't like she never got to see her.*
