Jacob sat in the deserted library. He silently flipped through the pages of his book, he was doing his best to study the extremely mundane text. It was getting very late and Jake had been sitting in the library all day, he had yet to realize realize how pointless it had been. He had reread the same pages so many times he should have known them by heart, but he only had a vague idea concerning what they were even about. Normally studying wasn't hard for him, but his mind was in so many different places that it was hard to concentrate. He didn't even realize that he was the only person in the dark library. If it weren't for a sudden noise Jake might have remained there the rest of the night in that stupor. It had been a quiet sound, barely audible, but he had been sitting in silence for over an hour and the slight commotion pulled him back into reality. He didn't even look around before closing the book and getting ready to leave, he thought it was probably just a mouse or something harmless. He didn't consider that there might be another person around so late at night.
