Title: Novel Writing Challenge

Coldstone_Harshing - May 21, 2006 10:03 AM (GMT)

3 months

1 novel

Right, ready for this? You have 2 months to put together a novel (50K+ Words) It can be about anything, but it has to be longer that 50 thousand.

I recommend daily doing a thousand words or more.

The contest ends at the end of the Summer Holidays.

Post your progress in the this thread if you wish to participate.

Sorry I locked the topic lol.

Perdita Brequaire - May 22, 2006 08:24 PM (GMT)
OH OH YAY!!!! I'm gonna try and do it, i'll be on vacation for about 3 weeks so i'll have bunches of time to write, hopefully, yaya i'm excited :D

Damien Martel - May 22, 2006 08:48 PM (GMT)
yeah. it sounds cool

Chloe Young - May 22, 2006 08:55 PM (GMT)
I'll definitely be attempting it. I need to set a goal sometime and this is perfect! I already have some of the characters down and I know the plot and 3 months will be plenty of time especially in summer! :D

Melanie Hunter - May 22, 2006 09:06 PM (GMT)
I know about one of the charries. teeehee.

Yeah, I'm trying, too. I already started it for one of the previous challenges but then Lumos crashed and you changed it, so now I'm going to extend it and work off of what I already have. I have about 500 words already.

Kiki Relove - May 23, 2006 10:58 PM (GMT)
yea I know, how much is 5K?

Kelly Adair - May 23, 2006 11:38 PM (GMT)
It's 50k, that's 50 thousand.

I'll try, I'm going to be really busy allsummer but I'll work on it.

Damien Martel - May 24, 2006 01:32 AM (GMT)
Define: "end of the summer holidays?"

what is the aprox. date?

Tyler Laurence - May 24, 2006 01:55 AM (GMT)
Why not. I've got few ideas. I'm not a great writer, but I'll try.

Melanie Hunter - May 24, 2006 01:57 AM (GMT)
I love my Prolouge. This is an entirely different style for me. I'm used to happy kinds of stories, and stupid ones, too. This one is more serious and stuff, which I like. I want to write when I'm older and experimenting like this helps me know what areas I'll write in. I think I'd be a good Children's Author, but that's just me.

I'll totally do it. I tried a contest like this once...except it was for one month, not 3. so far I have 362 words. Impressive, lol.

Coldstone_Harshing - May 25, 2006 06:39 AM (GMT)
4, 000 so far

Melanie Hunter - May 25, 2006 11:41 AM (GMT)
My compy doesn't have word count so I have no idea.<_< I do know that it's not 4,000 though. :P

Paige Robohn - May 25, 2006 06:30 PM (GMT)
yea, most programs use have it. All microsoft stuff does. I think....

Melanie Hunter - May 25, 2006 07:19 PM (GMT)
Well I'm unloved and I don't have MS Word. I have Wordpad and WordPerfect.

Thanks for the link, Adam.

I have about 1600 words, which I think is pretty good for me.

Squall Leonheart - May 25, 2006 07:43 PM (GMT)
alright, i have about 2,400. but the time it takes me to write, ill be done in about 50 years, as Adam will tell you.

Paige Robohn - May 25, 2006 09:08 PM (GMT)
hey, anyone wanna partner edit with me? I need someone to edit mine, to help me.

Tyler Laurence - May 26, 2006 01:36 AM (GMT)
PM Kelly Adair. She's an english wiz. Every time I IM her it takes forever becasue the only word she abbreviates is bcuz. Besides that it's all in perfect english and it gets on my nerves! She won't even do U R or ttyl most of the time. I only know her through the internet but she has to be some kind of genius.

Annmarie Hargreaves - May 26, 2006 02:55 AM (GMT)
HA! I already wrote a novel! But it would take me forever to type it, since when I wrote it it was all in script, and it's kinda hard to read. Plus, I need to do major editing, since I wrote it in like...6th grade. But i think it's pretty cool!

Chloe Young - May 26, 2006 11:16 AM (GMT)
I finished mapping out 5 out of 10 of my characters which is a HUGE accomplishment for me! Because I usually never map out characters, but this time I want to know everything about them before I start writing and making up stuff.

:) And I'm a procrastinator, but most of it is because I'm still in school and my story is on my laptop at home.

Coldstone_Harshing - May 26, 2006 03:25 PM (GMT)
Paige, the short answer is: You don't need an editor until the novel is finished, write the thing, leave it a month then edit yourself.

Tyler Laurence - May 26, 2006 11:59 PM (GMT)
I've started mine. I'll probably never finish it but I'm having fun writing it. It will probably suck too, but I'm still having fun.

Chloe Young - May 27, 2006 01:34 AM (GMT)
As long as you're having fun, it won't matter what the outcome is. ^-^ I'm having fun with my story. I'm incorporating some of my friend's personalities into it. ^-^ Mel knows all about that. And yeah, not much progress...a few more details about characters, but the story is all in my head.

Edit on June 3, 2006:

1,887 words so far not including my character profiles...and my map that I'm making. ^-^ Not that great...but I feel proud of myself. :)
