*Dorien had jumped down out of the tree. He had gone through the stages of shock and anger, and now he was stuck in sadness. Dorien walked at a normal speed (incase someone was watching) to the back porch of the house. He slowly sat down and looked out across the yard. Rogue and James were done talking and now he was wallowing in the silence, wishing he hadn't listened to Rogue and joined the stupid resistance.*

rogue was frustrated. she didn't know what to do. she liked james, but she liked dorien. she was in a complete mess. she saw dorien after her conversation with james and decided she wuld go talk to him. walking over to him. resting her hand on the railing.
"hi..."
she said notiing he looked like he was in deep thought.

*Dorien looked up at her.* "Hello......." *He looked away from her again, looking back out across the grounds. It was obvious, from everything from his tone of voice to his posture, that he was hurt and that he had his guard up again* "You should go to bed....it's late. You talked to James for a while....."

rogue could tell from the way he acted towards her that he was upset. she didn't know why though. he had never gave her any indication that he liked her until rcently. sitting down next to him she looked at him.
"why are you upset with me?"
she asked the sadness showing in her voice.

*Dorien didn't speak for a moment* "Rogue...." *He paused again for a moment* "You lead me on....and it's............upsetting....to learn that it was all because you missed him and that I was simply a place holder." *He was chosing his words very carefully and not looking at her.* "However, I understnad completely." *He was hiding his emotions under a perfectly formulated mask.*

rogue looked at him stunned.
"how did i....lead you on dorien?"
she asked her temper rising.
"i admit i like you. i like you a hell of a lot."
she wanted to reah out and touch him. hug him something. instead she settled on picking at her shoe.
"you weren't his place holder dorien. up until the other day i didn't even get an inkling that you liked me or had feelings for me."
she wanted to cry. she stood back up and looked around the grounds so he wouldn't see the tears in her eyes.
"yeah james and i kissed. i like him too, but we're not together."
she felt completely confused.
"i....i don't know dorien. this is so confusing."
the lump forming in her throat stoped her from speaking. wrapping her arms around herself.
"i'm so confused...."
she continued to look out into the night.

*Dorien stood and started to reach out to her to hold her but stopped. He let out a frusterated growl and stood, staring out in the other direction across the grounds.* "I. Cant." *He growled* "Don't you think that I'd like to show affection and hold your hand and be close to you? Because I would. But I can't. Because I'm afraid. Because I don't want to hurt you. Do you realize that by being here alone with me you're putting your life in danger? Do you comprehend that if something would go wrong and I would snap you could die?" *He turned around to look at her, the pain clear in his eyes*

rogue turned to look at him.
"don't you hink i know that! i took a risk too you know! no matter how hard i've tried i can't stop myself from liking you."
she said in a loud whisper.
"i know what you could do to me. but i took that risk because i liked you and i wanted to know you better..."
she quickly whiped the tears before they could fall.
" maybe it's better if i just ................"
she looked away.
"if i just stayed away from everyone."

"Well....I'm not going to pretend like it wouldn't be better for your health if you'd stay away from me. Because it would...and you seem pretty happy with James so why don't you just....go with him." *He muttered angrly, turning away again*

rogue turned and looked at him. that had hit a spot and hurt her more than anything he had said so far. she stomped over to him and jerked on his arm trying to turn him to face her. tilting her head and thrusting her neck towards him.
"hurt me dorien!"
she sobbed. looking him in the eyes.
"hurt me!"
she shivered.
"you seem to like doing it thus far. hurt me some more, but i'll tell you what. i still like you."

*Dorien reached out and held her close to his chest. He wrapped his cold hard arms around her. He would have liked to hold her tight....really hold her...but he was too afraid to. He was still trying though.* "I don't want to hurt you." *He said quietly*

her arms went around his waist and she held on to him tightly.
"i know you don't want to hurt me. you're not a normal vampire dorien. you would have already ripped me to shreds if you were."
she burried her head in his chest inhailing his scent.

*Dorien smiled weakly* "normal vampire..." *He rested his chin on her head and closed her eyes* "I'm trying..I want to try to be with you...but if he's here.... "*He said, refering to James* "Then...I don't know. Things could get messy...." *He wondered if she caught the double meaning in the words....messy emotionally and messy like....carnage messy*

rogue stepped back hating to leave his embrace. taking his hand in hers she brushed his knuckles with her fingers.
'i need time dorien......i need time to think..."
she asked it more thanm said it. she wanted to know if he had a problem with her trying to deide who she wanted to be with.

"Okay." *He said, more reassuring himself than agreeing to it* "Yeah......why don't you sleep on it. Or at least get some sleep. Please? It's really late." *He attempted a smile* "And while you do that I'll just go catch some breakfast...." *as soon as he said it he regretted it. It had just slipped out* "Sorry....." *He glanced away again and looked back at her* "Think about it....okay?"

rogue watched him intently. nodding her head she just stood there.'"yeah...ok."
she said softly not moving. in reality she wasn't sleepy at all. she smiled at him and tok a step back. turning and begining to walk away. stopping in mid-stride she turned and walked back to him. her arms easily slipping around his waist. hugging him and softly reaching up to kiss his cheek.
"night."

*Dorien knew he wasn't being fair to her, but he had no intention of giving in without a fight. As Rogue reached up to kiss him on the cheek, he turned his head and caught her in a kiss on the lips. He didn't hold it for very long, but it was long enough. He didn't want to push himself. DOrien pulled back out of the kiss, one of his hands still rested on her waist.* "Sweet dreams...." *He pulled away from her and started to walk away into the night*

rogue stood there shocked to say the least.
"night"
togue said softly. she couldn't sleep. not when things were like this. she felt happy, guilty, and confusef at the same time. although james had never asked her out or anything she still felt as though she was doing him wrong. the happiness of doriens kiss elated her though. she had thought he didn't like her. she thought she didn't even have a chance with a guy like him. sitting down she watched him leave.
