*Almost everything in the house was quiet. It was almost time for everyone to go to bed. Except Kiley. Kiley was laying on her bed on her back staring up at the ceiling, thinking. She was thinking about all the people staying in the house, rogue's boy problems and her own boy problems. She was flirting with milo earlier and she felt guilty. She wanted to talk to Jake, but she was afraid to be the one to initiate the conversation.*

Jake hadn't really talked to Kiley since the first resistance meeting so decided to go see her before he went to bed. He knocked softly on the door, hoping she wasn't asleep, he didn't want to wake her.

"Come on in..." *Kiley called, letting her head drop off the side of her bed so she was looking at the door from upside down so she would see who was coming in. She figured it was probably Rogue, thought she wasn't sure why she would be knocking...*

Slowly opening the door and entering the room, Jake saw Kiley looking at him from upside down on her bed. "Hi." he said, walking a little farther into the room. He didn't really know how to start a conversation.

*Kiley smiled a little as she saw it was Jake* "Hey....." *She paused for a moment, then when she realized he wasn't gonna say anything* "Is everything aright?" *She asked, sitting up and looking at him right side up.*

"Yeah...I just haven't seen you in a while." he smiled slightly, "Can I sit down?" he asked, almost shyly. He knew he was acting strange, he felt like he needed to talk to her bt he did not know what about. There relationship had been sort of static lately and he didn't know how to fix it.

*Kiley nodded slowly* "Yeah...of course...." *She moved back so she was leaning against her headboard, hugging her knees to her chest.* "Are you sure everything's okay?" *She asked again. She had a feeling like something was wrong or off.*

Jake sat at the end of the bed. "Yeah, I guess so. I just felt like we needed to talk..." he wondered if she thought he was crazy or if she knew what he meant. "I mean...We haven't really seen each other much lately." he added to try and make his meaning more clear.

"Yeah, I know. Everything's just been so crazy around here with the resistance and all. I'm sorry. I shouldn't be making excuses." *Kiley sighed* "I'm sorry I dragged you into this whole thing."

"You didn't drag me into it, I want to be here." He attempted to smile to make her see that he genuinely did want to be there. "I just wish I was doing more than taking up space." Jake didn't feel like he was doing any good to the resistance at all.

"You're not taking up space....it's not like you're the onyl one not doing anything. Nobody's really done anything yet. When the rea action starts, believe me, you and I could possibly be the ones in the thick of it."

"When is the real action going to start?" he asked seriously. "What's going on right now? How are we going to do this?" he asked. He was still a little lost on a lot of things.

"I don't know....we need to come up with a plan...Milo and I were talking about bluprints earlier...I think he's got some new information..." *Kiley absently wondered if Jake had seen or heard about kiley and milo flirting..innocently? was it innocent? she wasn't sure....*

"Milo...?" Jake wasn't even sure who Milo was, he hadn't heard anything about him and Kiley and wasn't worried about it. "Which one is he again?" Jake asked. He hadn't been concerned with getting to know everyone.

"He's the younger one...well, not young really. He's 21 I think. Or 23. I don't remember. He has brown hair and he was working on the blueprints today without a shirt on." *Kiley said this matter-of-factly, ignoring the slightly flutter in her stomach.*

It suddenly dawned on Jae who Milo was. "What did you talk about?" Jake asked, he couldn't help sounding a little jealous. He wondered if Kiley would tell the whole truth and felt guilty for not trusting her. "Anything besides the blueprints?"

"Not really." *She said lightly, avoiding his eyes as she brushed something off her bed.* "Just sort of talking for a while. Then Harshing came in and started talking about invading Hogwarts." *Kiley looked up at him then, her eyes bright with excitement* "And Harshing's taking me to help him...not Milo....me." *She couldn't help but grin. Kiley lowered her voice to a whisper as she continued* "I tihnk we're going tomorrow....we're going to try to capture Hans and bring him here."

"What?!" Jake exclaimed. "Is he crazy? You can't do that." he didn't even bother to try and be calm. He had forgotten all about Milo. "How many people are going? What's the point of capturing Hans anyway?" he was obviously upset and didn't want Kiley to go.

"What do you mean I can't?" *She said just as instantly angry at him* "The point of capturing Hans is that Hans is a major member of the family. We'll take him down and then while the family's hurting we'll attack them again." *It really hurt Kiley that Jake would say that he didn't believe in her like that* "And as far as I know it's just Harshing and I going."

"It's just...You could get hurt. And there should be more people going." Jake sounded like he still wanted to argue but was trying to get back into her good graces at the same time. He managed to make her mad almost every time they talked and he wanted to stop fighting so much. He had wanted to talk to her to help their relationship, not hurt it. "And I don't trust Harshing. I don't want you to go anywhere alone with him."

*Kiley couldn't help but feel a little bad for yelling when he made it clear that he was only looking out for her well-being.* "Look." *Kiley sighed and looked him straight in the eyes* "I know you don't trust Harshing. Very few people do. But we're going to have to work together if we want to have a chance at this. And I tihnk he said something about Milo helpling us on the outside so that we can find our way in...." *It didn't occur to Kiley that telling Jake the Milo would be there too could possibly have the reverse effect that sh intended: to calm his nerves.*

Jake made it clear that he didn't like Milo, even though he had never actually met him. "Why Milo? Why not Dorien? Why not me?" Jake even liked Dorien more than Milo at that moment. The obvious answer to that was that she and Dorien would probably kill each other and Jake probably wasn't anywhere near as good a wizard as Milo, but there were still other people. Jake would choose any of them to go over Milo. Kiley hadn't given him any reason to be jealous, but he was. He knew something was wrong. He moved beside Kiley and rested his head on the headboard next to hers, as if that would somehow fix everything.

"I can't believe you'd expect me to go with Dorien." *She said, looking over at him and raising her eyebrows.* "And besides. Milo's an auror. He does this sort of stuff all the time. So really, Jake. Would you rather have a highly trained auror watching my back, or a vampire that just so hapens to be my mortal enemy and would like me to die?" *Kiley smiled a little* "There's nothing to worry about."

He looked over at her with a grimace on his face. "Why Milo?" he repeated, even though she had just given him the answer to that question. He didn't care that he sounded suspicious. He didn't want her to go anywhere with him.

*Kiley sighed* "I'm sorry Jake....I know you don't like it but...." *Kiley paused and looked at Jake* "Don't look at me like that...." *She said miserably* "I'm sorry...."

"For what?" Jake asked sarcastically. He was starting to get the feeling he really should be worrying. Kiley was acting strange, sort of distant, since they had begun talking about Milo. He couldn't just come out and ask about Milo, but he thought he had made his suspisions clear enough for her to understand what he was worried about--- she wasn't denying it.

"Fine. What can I do that will make you happy?" *Kiley was beginning to get frusterated.* "Just tell me what I can do that will make it up to you. Okay? I'll do it."

Jake's grimace turned into a glare. "That depends on what you're apologizing for." He replied. He suddnly didn't feel like talking to Kiley anymore. He was starting to wonder how much longer they were going to last. He didn't want to break up with her, but he was beginning to think that she might.

"I didn't do anything wrong Jake." *She said quietly, looking at him* "I don't know what you think....but I didn't do anything but talk to Milo." *Kiley looked away and crossed her arms across her chest* "You could trust me a little, you know."

Jake ignored the slight pang of guilt that he felt. He had no reason to think that Kiley was lying, but something told him she was. He wanted to believe her but he couldn't. The fact that she looked away from him when she talked just made it harder. "Are you sure about that?" he looked over at her accusingly.

*Kiley just looked back at him for a moment before standing up and walking to the door. She didn't say anything or look at him. Kiley didn't really know if she was sad or hurt or guilty....but she couldn't deal with being accused of something she didn't do....and she hadn't done anything...had she?

Kiley pulled the door open and slammed it shut behind her. She didn't care if she woke anyone up, she just wanted to gt away. Kiley threw herself into a chair in the living room and fumed, silently glaring at the wall.*
