Title: A New Bode

Milo Scone - October 21, 2007 04:38 PM (GMT)
Milo leaned against the wall of the dungeons making sure that all HOgwart's students had their robes on tight while they walked to next lesson. "Oi You - Top button please!" He barked at an unsuspecting first year. He put on his reading glasses and began to mark some essays while he was "on duty."

After a few fights between second years and a measles breakout the lesson transition was over. Milo started back to the Potions room.

Finnigan Tatupu - October 21, 2007 08:01 PM (GMT)
Finn was walking back down to the common room. He had a free period next. He laughed as the first year got yelled at. He saw that it his favorite new professor, Professor Scone. "Ah Professor... Terrible loss for your team yesterday..." He smiled. He loved quidditch banter.

Milo Scone - October 22, 2007 02:26 PM (GMT)
Scone laughed sarcastically. "Yeah well.. a team like the Wasps can afford an odd loss now and again... in fact we let them win." He always spoke of his team in the "we" perspective - spoken like a true supported. Quidditch banter was the bane of society. His clothes transformed into a wasps strip then back again at the flick of his wand. "In truth. We were thrashed."

He began to walk and indicated that Finn should follow.

Finnigan Tatupu - October 22, 2007 10:54 PM (GMT)
Finn smiled at his quick change ability, and followed behind him. "So professor, that was a rather interesting lesson you gave the other day..." Finn thought about saying how he wanted to hurt someone to see how well it worked, but thought better of it. He continued to match him pace for pace.

Milo Scone - October 23, 2007 09:49 AM (GMT)
"Yes, I think Potion's lessons should be useful. Everyone will need to make a Pain Reliever at some point - there is no point in making silly potions that no one will ever need." A first year ran past. Scone, flicking out his wand cast a petrificus charm which froze the first year in his tracks.

"Pity... he'll be late for class," Milo laughed at his handiwork.

Finnigan Tatupu - October 23, 2007 01:09 PM (GMT)
Finn smiled. "That was excellent, sir." He had only heard of another teacher to use magic on students, and that was ages ago. "I agree," Finn said, "What's the purpose of learning to make wolfsbane potion, when very few of us are going to run into werewolves... The way the world is now anyways..."

Milo Scone - October 23, 2007 04:22 PM (GMT)
Milo was deathly silent for a while, not wanting to betray his allegiance or to seem against Werewolves either. He trusted Finn but the Grand had many powers to break minds. "I am not allowed to teach Wolfsbane anyway," he said quietly, a hint of hate towards the Family in his voice. He tapped his wand in his hand during an awkward silence.

Finnigan Tatupu - October 23, 2007 09:56 PM (GMT)
Finn's smile faded. "I'm sorry," Finn said, he really didn't mean to say something offensive, "I didn't mean to. I was only trying to..." He stopped. He knew he could only make the situation worse from here. They reached a moving staircase. "Up here sir?" Finn said, showing that he was following. He had a few guesses as to where he was being lead, but didn't want to seem like he was leading.

Milo Scone - October 24, 2007 08:40 AM (GMT)
"Yes," Scone smiled, "Can I ask you where we are going?" If Finn asked him correctly he would take him there, if he didn't then he would not. Milo walked on, rather smugly. THe corridors were quiet, how Scone liked it. No noise, no beating up in the corridors, no screaming girls. Peace. Perfection. Tranquility.

OOC: I actually have no idea where we are going Finn but it sounds like you have a good idea lol

Finnigan Tatupu - October 24, 2007 01:42 PM (GMT)
Finn smiled. He had a few places in mind, though, none of them seemed worth mentioning. Finn didn't know where his office was, though, if it was like his first year, it would have been near his classroom. Offices changed much like the staircases. He decided to ask, "Are we going to your office Professor?"

Milo Scone - October 24, 2007 01:47 PM (GMT)
OOC: I was thinking that lol
BIC:

"Yes Finn, we are. There was mildew in the Dungeons so I decided I would have Harshing's old office on the third floor. I have some goodies stashed there, lemonade and chocolate anyone?" He quickly went up the stairs then up another flight so he was on the third floor. He waited for Finn to catch up. Finn was quickly becoming his favourite student, Milo wanted to show him a few things over a nice snack.

Finnigan Tatupu - October 24, 2007 01:51 PM (GMT)
"That sounds excellent sir." It was not hard for Professor Scone to be his favorite teacher. He was young enough to relate to his students still. Finn had not had chocolate and lemonade since the last time he had to have permission to go to Hogsmeade. Finn lengthened his pace, and caught up with the professor. "I don't blame you for not wanting Harshing's office Professor... It was so cold down there..."

Milo Scone - October 24, 2007 02:03 PM (GMT)
He stopped right outside the thinnest door in Hogwarts, it could be mistaken as a crack in the wall. He took out his wand and tapped it in several different places. The fissure widened and a round door emerged, still small. He opened it and crawled through a small tunnel and got out at the end. The office - a large round room covered with Wasps memorabilia, posters and signed strips, golden quaffles on stands. Yet there was a second layer, potion racks and tables with maps on, there were more strange maps than Wasps stuff but the bright yellow seemed to camouflage the serious work Milo was doing.

In the centre of the room was a rounded couch. He sat down and summoned a jug from a drawer filled with freshly made, fizzing lemonade. A barrel of biscuits appeared next to him. He took a glass and filled it then dunked several biscuits in. He gestured for Finn to do the same.

Finnigan Tatupu - October 25, 2007 12:14 AM (GMT)
Finn watched the professor tap the cracks in the wall. He would have never guessed that that could have held an office. It was good to know if he ever needed to hide. He entered after Scone. Finn gazed at all the wasp gear. It reminded him of his bedroom at his parents house. "You are more then just the casual fan I take it?" Finn said jokingly. Finn sat on the oddly shaped couch. It was soft, and would have absorbed him had he not made every effort to sit up. "Thank you sir," He said, dipping a biscuit in the lemonade. "So... What's on your mind professor?" The only other times he had been invited into a professors office was when he was given detention.

Milo Scone - October 25, 2007 12:24 PM (GMT)
Milo sighed. "Finn for some time now I have been studying Family history. Genealogy. It is somewhat of an interest of mine." He stood, downed his drink and then got a pile of paper from a drawer. He then got a tiny black book from his bookcase and opened it.

"My mother's name was Andrea Scone. I never knew my father but I do have this: my Mother's friends diary. There is only one entry."

He began to read aloud.

Milo,

I've left you 400 in the bank for your education. Wont see you around.

Miss Tatupu.

He looked at Finn inquisitively.

Finnigan Tatupu - October 25, 2007 01:27 PM (GMT)
Finn choked on the biscuit he was about to enjoy. Finn's heart stopped. Tatupu was his family name. One of his great relatives had moved to Britain from Hawaii. He had a long pause. He was clearly in shock. He always knew that he could have family anywhere with his deadbeat dad, but never would have guessed it could have been so close. Finn could not believe this revelation.

"Is that my mother?" Finn asked after quite some time.

Milo Scone - October 25, 2007 01:30 PM (GMT)
"Perhaps." It was the only answer, Milo didn't know for certain, it was mostly guesswork. "Tatupu isn't the most common of names. What can assume that you are related to this woman who kindly wrote in this book on behalf of my father. When he left my mother he took everything. This mere 400 sickles was obviously some kind of guilt but he didnt have the guts to write to me himself. His knew woman did however."

"Its shrouded in mystery but my guess is that somehow you and I are connected to the same story."

Finnigan Tatupu - October 25, 2007 01:40 PM (GMT)
"I never knew my father..." Finn said, "my mum said that he had to go away... He left when my mother found out that she was pregnant with me..." He paused to avoid having his voice break, "Professor, if money is a problem... I can help you with that... The man that raised me is a muggle doctor... He's made a fortune creating new prescription drugs..." It was clearly a difficult topic for him to talk about. "I'll owl my mother... Ask her if she knew anyone named Scone... Like you say, I'd bet that you're right..."

Milo Scone - October 25, 2007 01:43 PM (GMT)
"No, no - its not your fault. In fact I wouldnt put it past my filthy father to have forged that letter himself to shield his own misdeeds and to make others look bad."

He waved a hand and poured more lemonade. "And Im a teacher now, we get a good wage here." He was burning to know the truth about Tatupu - how did Finn fit in with his past. And if he did, how did he?

Finnigan Tatupu - October 25, 2007 01:55 PM (GMT)
Finn knew it wasn't true. He knew that teachers made some of the worst sums of anyone. "I'm going to write that letter now.

Finn pulled a piece of parchment, some ink, and a new quill out of his bag. He began to write.

Dear mother
You told me long ago that the man who I've called father isn't actually related to me. I accept that. I need to know something. Do you know anyone by the name of Scone? A young professor of mine has been studying his genealogy and has discovered that we may indeed be related. It is critical that you answer me quickly and honestly.

He waited to sign it. "Is there anything else you would like to add?" He asked.

Milo Scone - October 25, 2007 02:01 PM (GMT)
He deliberated for a moment then shook his head. It was a tense moment, a moment of discovery - life or death.. well maybe not life or death but it was one hell of an important discovery. He nibbled on a biscuit while he called his owl. "Use her, shes quick."

Finnigan Tatupu - October 25, 2007 10:07 PM (GMT)
Finn signed the letter, and tied it to the owl. He hoped the Professor was right. Every moment was another that he didn't take advantage of with his new family member. He patted the owl, signifying that she should go. Finn wasn't sure how she would get out of a room that didn't have a clear window, but knew she would find a way. "My mother should be home taking care of my little sister Mackenzie..." He hoped that this owl would be able to return within the day.

Milo Scone - October 26, 2007 12:43 PM (GMT)
He took the owl and threw it against the wall. It vanished - another bit of hocus pocus of the room. It was indeed a room full of mystery and had many secrets, half of which Milo did not know. All he knew is it used to be a room of horror, of poison, named "Room 101". Harshing had once tortured here. Now, Harshing had turned it into a base of the Resistance within Hogwarts, disguised as a simple office.

"Lets hope she comes back quickly."

Finnigan Tatupu - October 26, 2007 12:59 PM (GMT)
Finn was still in shock over the owl... He had never seen a window so convincingly bewitched to look like a wall. Finn said, "I hope so too."

Slowly time dragged on. Seconds became minutes, minutes became hours. Finally Finn heard the flapping of wings. "How does she know where the entrance is? I've never seen it from the outside..." He asked, not thinking of a bigger question they were about to have answered.

Grand Sentinus - October 26, 2007 01:03 PM (GMT)
"No idea... the room is... full of mystery. I did not enchant it."

The owl flew back and to Finn's arm, with a letter attached. Milo sat and looked at him - eagerly awaiting him to read the letter. Then - revelation, celebration or hated? Who knew?

Finnigan Tatupu - October 26, 2007 01:22 PM (GMT)
Finn stroked the owl on the head, then untied the letter from its foot. He unfurled it and began to read aloud.

Dear Finn,
Your coward of a father did have a child with someone with the last name of Scone. Then, much like he did to me, he left when she was pregnant. You do indeed have a half brother or sister somewhere in the world, and there last name probably is Scone. I didn't keep his name for you because I knew that you would be a better person than he is...

Anyways, Mackenzie has started trying to walk... Your father and I have had difficulty because we did not have to baby proof the house this early when you were learning to walk... You should come and visit us during the winter holiday... Bring someone if you want...

Love,
Mom

Finn furled the letter back up. "I guess that settles it... Brother." Finn said, with a small smile, "That seems strange to say..."

Grand Sentinus - October 26, 2007 03:49 PM (GMT)
There should have been a greater sense of joy at the revelation yet Milo viewed Scone no differently from there previous talks. Still, there was friendship but a sense of brotherly bonds was not present. Finn and Scone had a good relationship, the letter didn't make it any better.

"Yes... it seems very odd indeed. I always knew I wasn't an only child."

He pondered in quiet for a moment, "Ok, the next step is finding him."

Finnigan Tatupu - October 26, 2007 11:39 PM (GMT)
"I'm not sure my mother would tell me..." Finn felt a tension that didn't exist before, "She's not proud of the way she used to be... But she is a better person for her mistakes. She learned from them which is all any of us can do." He gave a small smile. "I'm not sure what I would be capable of doing if I found my father..." Finn had never seriously harmed anyone physically. He damaged many people emotionally, but he didn't feel bad about those people. His emotions were often stepped on and damaged. He managed to bury the crippling emotional pain and ask, "Where do we go from here?"

Milo Scone - October 27, 2007 09:33 AM (GMT)
"Azkaban," the world moved as the name was spoken and the Wasps posters seemed to fade into blurry nothings. The maps flickered as a wind rose, even though the room was air-tight. The name carried a curse, not a magic one but an emotional one and when spoken one couldn't help but revere in its magnitude.

"My bet is that he is there or has been there for the past few years. Hes obviously a vagabond."

Finnigan Tatupu - October 27, 2007 03:01 PM (GMT)
"You really think so?" Finn asked. His mother had never mentioned jail to him as a possibility of where his real father was. Finn always knew his father was a bad man, but had no idea that his father was a criminal. "How did you find this out?" Finn couldn't believe that their father might be a criminal, or worse...

Milo Scone - October 27, 2007 03:22 PM (GMT)
Milo was silent. It was a bare faced assumption. And, as assumptions often are wrong he didn't tell Finn that it was so, he simply looked at him. He sat again and crossed his legs. "Dad was bad," thats all his said, his voice full of his accented resonance from the North of England - he usually spoke RP but he felt at ease to use his accent where he was born and bred with Finn.

Finnigan Tatupu - October 27, 2007 04:46 PM (GMT)
It was crushing news for Finn. He knew life wasn't a fairy tale. What should have been a happy time for Finn was sad. He didn't want to think anymore about his father today. "We should be celebrating," Finn said, "We need to enjoy every day we have together... I've missed out on so much with you already..."

Milo Scone - October 27, 2007 04:54 PM (GMT)
Milo shrugged then winked at him. He took a bottle of mead and poured two glasses. "To hell with the lemonade," he roared and glugged down his drink. "The time of celebration is not here, little brother - for we are related through a vile man."

Finnigan Tatupu - October 27, 2007 05:12 PM (GMT)
Finn smiled. It had been a long time since his last drink, but drinking with family was different. "Salute." Finn said, taking a drink. He stopped smiling, and set his drink down. "Are you saying that we should go to azkaban?" Finn asked. He had only seen pictures of it, but knew of the horror.

Milo Scone - October 27, 2007 05:14 PM (GMT)
"Yes, its more like anarchy than a prison now, policed by Family thugs with wands, they bully prisoners into joining the Army of Sentinus or murder them. They still keep the records there though, so with the right authority we may be able to view them."

Milo sipped.

Finnigan Tatupu - October 27, 2007 05:31 PM (GMT)
Finn gave him a look... "And you have such authority?" He knew his brother didn't like to talk politics, but had no idea where he stood on the issues of the world. He simply didn't know him well enough. Finn took another small drink. He still couldn't believe that he may be able to find his father...

Milo Scone - October 27, 2007 06:06 PM (GMT)
He turned to him, perhaps it was time to tell him of the Resistance and the powers they held - although small - could quite easily gain access to Askaban with guys like Harshing masterminding their schemes. Finn wasn't Family, he knew that- but was he in favour of Resistance? Milo didn't know Finn well enough either to know his allegiance.

"Perhaps." It was a safe answer.

Finnigan Tatupu - October 27, 2007 08:55 PM (GMT)
Finn gave a small nod. He was still trying to feel Scone out. "Okay," He said, "I think it's important to try to go..." Finn didn't know the state of Azkaban, only that there no longer dementors there. Finn preferred not to listen to what the papers said, as he saw that many of them lied.
