Title: Talking to Owls
Description: Open to Anyone
Fawne Sugarmoon - October 25, 2007 10:23 PM (GMT)
Fawne had been having a pretty unusual week so far. She'd made friends with a Slytherin girl who had openly despised her at first, had a professor kick her things down the hall and refused to let her into the class until a Hufflepuff boy and said Slytherin girl asked him to. She'd seen somebody get scarred and she'd joined the Family; the later was proving the hardest challenge on the Gryffindors mind, but she had made her choice and she would let it run it course. She would be loyal.
She was mentally exhausted and it showed; she even looked ill, far paler than her usual fair tones. Her hair as always was left to fall down in chocolate coloured curls to mid way down her back. It contrasted greatly with the white floaty dress she was wearing; the dress itself had sleeves down to her elbows were the flared out slightly to match the torso of the dress that was fitted till it reached her hips where is also flared down to the end of the skirt which was a few inches above her knees. Her legs were adorned with grey tights that had white snowflakes on and her feet were covered with grey ballet shoes. She was obviously of a wizarding family since her clothes had that charmed look to them.
She was sat on an owlery windowsill, one with glass in the window of course, with her black long eared owl resting on her propped up
knees. She was tying a letter to her Owls leg, it was to her mother, hoping to explain the situation better than Craven would. Her mother would be mad but she would respect Fawne's choice in the end she allways had before. She stroked her owl between its ears before speaking in her her normal melodic voice.
"What do you think Thess? Will she believe in me?..."
She needed someone to turn too, and as friendly as Flame might now be Fawne was still learning the rules of their friendship. And you did not dicuss problems with your brother. What she needed now was some company...
Rasaq Jones - October 27, 2007 10:30 PM (GMT)
Rasaq was holding a letter in one hand, and a hair pick in the other. As he walked up the stairs in a long sleeve white shirt with black shorts, he combed his hair, pushing it out. He had taken it out of the braids he normally kept them in and now possessed an afro. He put the pick in the waistband of his shorts as his hand went back up, feeling the facial hair on his chin. It puffed off his chin much like his hair. He needed a hair cut soon. His hair wasn't even by any means, so his afro had a messy look to it. He reached the owlrey and noticed a girl standing there. The same one who Professor Scone had locked out and he told to let back in. He smiled and said "Hey. I guess I'm not the only one who just has to tell someone something."
Fawne Sugarmoon - October 27, 2007 10:37 PM (GMT)
Fawne smiled at the boy brightly. She still didn't know his name, even though she had owed him thanks. She stood from the window sill and walked over to an windowless window ,with Thess seated happily on her arm, after all the owls had to get in and out somehow. She raised her arm and the owl quickly flew from its perch and out of the window. She turned towards the hufflepuff boy and continued to smile.
"I don't think we were properly introduced. I'm Fawne Sugarmoon. And Thank you very much for your help." She curtsied in a playfully odd greeting since she felt as if, lately, she had been using a handshake far to often.
As she raised back up to her full height again she seemed to stare at the boy, not horribly so as her eyes had that glazed look they always held.
"If you like i can call Thess back and he will take your letter too?..." She paused to blink. "I like your hair."
Rasaq Jones - October 27, 2007 10:48 PM (GMT)
He grinned and said. "I'm Rasaq Jones. You can just call me Ras though." He was a bigger guy, but he didn't intimidate at all. He stood at six foot three and weighed about two hundred twenty pounds, at least last he checked. He smield and said "Naw, I got my own owl somewhere..." After her comment about his hair he simply laughed and said "Thanks."
He reached up and lightly patted it and said. "My momma would kill me if she knew my hair was this long. She says I look like nuthin' but a common thug wit this hair." He laughed lightly again, he drak face lighting up.
Fawne Sugarmoon - October 27, 2007 11:01 PM (GMT)
Fawne smiled in return and walked away from the window, since after all she wouldn't have to call Thess back. She stood a short distance from Rasaq but not imposingly close. She fiddled with the thestral pendant that was constantly around her neck, today it was on a grey choker, watching as he patted his hair.
"I don't think you could be a thug, your aura is too soft."
She tilted her head to the side, much like an owl, it looked as if she was trying to see his aura. She sighed but a smile was still set on her face.
"I can't see it of course but it feels like a soft aura."
She pulled on a curl in her own hair empathising its length, which was to mid way down her back, before twirling on the spot to show it was the same length all the way around.
"There is nothing wrong with long hair."
She stopped her twirling and stared once again at Rasaq's hair, before standing on tip toe as if to see it better, which was shocking because Fawne wasn't that short.
"Gosh you're tall..."
She giggled to show it wasn't a malice filled comment. In fact it seemed rather strange to see the dream filled girl giggle, her usual i
outward indifference meant she didn't giggle. But she was feeling in the mood to be light hearted.
Rasaq Jones - October 27, 2007 11:24 PM (GMT)
He grinned and said "Thanks. I dunno. I've always had people think I'm some sorta thug based on my appearance. Maybe it's because I'm black, maybe it's because I wear clothes 'thugs' would. Maybe both. I dunno. Either way, I hate people who are iggnorant. Like Professor Scone." He looked at her hair and smiled. He liked how it was curled. He always thought gilrs with good hair was his weakness. He smiled and said "But my hair is somewhat uneven and loose, so I'll probably just get it braided again. Not sure who can do it, since last time I tired to do it myself...well...needless to say I had to cut my hair a bit shorter." He grinned and went looking for his owl while still trying to face her. "So what is Scone's problem with the Family?"
Fawne Sugarmoon - October 27, 2007 11:41 PM (GMT)
"The professor likes to play games and i think he forgot his place as a teacher..."
She smiled when he spoke about his hair, she barely did anything to her own since she liked it down with its natural curls. She could however be quite handy when it came to hair styles. Since he was beginning to move around Fawne decided to occupy the window sill she had previously been sat on. This way it was easier to observe him.
"I could try to braid your hair if you like, if it goes wrong there's always magic to help out?"
She tilted her head in thought when he asked what Scone's problem with the family was.
"Who knows, perhaps he thinks our cause is evil...Though he doesn't understand the reasoning behind it i think..."
She paused as if thinking about whether or not to tell Rasaq why she joined the family. Well it was common knowledge that her pure blood father was dead anyway and she had wanted to talk about the Family to free the issue from her mind.
"I think he thinks we are all 'thugs', though that is not true. I joined the Family because there cause helps stop what cost me my father. Attacks on wizarding families... I do love magical creatures though."
Just not whatever wizard now beast that attacked her dad in front of her very eyes.
Rasaq Jones - October 28, 2007 06:29 AM (GMT)
He found his old grey owl and tied the note to it's leg and walked her over to the window. He smiled at the owl and said "Off you go Dee." He let the owl go, and as she flew off he said "I'm sorry to hear about your father. My momma never knew my daddy. She says it coulda been this guy who is rich now, or some crack dealer. She neva knew." He looked up at her, a weak smile on his face. He sat down on the ledge with her, his feet dangling. He looked down at the socks and sandals on his feet and said "I guess I don't even know if he was a wizard or not. If he was, my momma doesn't know or neva told me. For what I know, I'm Muggle born. Made it difficult. Still is. Sixth year here and I have no friends. Weird huh?"
Fawne Sugarmoon - October 28, 2007 07:21 PM (GMT)
Fawne turned her head to look at Rasaq, though since the where sat on the same window sill she had to lean back a little to do so. She showed no outward signs of distress about her fathers death. A clear sign of it being an old wound.
"I'm not sorry, its best to remember and not forget..." she smiled properly now. "Though it is sad that you do not know your father" She never apologised for something she could not control.
"If you are at Hogwarts then you are magical, who you parents are should not be important. Anyone who refuses your friendship on blood purity is clearly not worth your friendship..." her voice was not hash but floaty level.
"I would like to be your friend, everyone should have friends...And you do have a nice aura." She giggled to show she was genuinely being nice.
Rasaq Jones - October 29, 2007 04:11 AM (GMT)
He smiled and looked down at her. She seemed to be one nice person here. He looked down at his feet again and said "That'd be awfully nice of ya." He put one hand up to his chin and rubbed the facial hair then said "I guess I've always ntimidated people. That's all." He looked back up at her smiling. "But sometimes that ain't a bad thing."
Fawne Sugarmoon - October 29, 2007 03:54 PM (GMT)
Fawne could understand why people thought him intimidating but in all honestly she saw him more as a gentle giant. Though she probably saw him this way because she had first met him when he defended her. She smiled and lent back against the window.
"I have never been intimidating but i believe that sometimes it would be useful...Most people are" Here she paused as if thinking of the right word, but the smile did not leave her face. "Scared of me, they think I'm quirky."
This was a well based assumption; after all she was dreamy by nature, her eyes always appeared unfocused, she never seem to get angry, her voice was always melodic, she was obsessed with Thestrals and more than a little quirky.
Rasaq Jones - October 29, 2007 09:49 PM (GMT)
He smiled and said "Well that' something we have in common." He ran a hand over his right quad and looked out the window. He could see all the surronding areas. It was weird to think that his muggle mother could not see it. He sighed and wondered how she was doing back at home. His sister had gone and gotten herself pregnant, and his mother didn't know yet. He only prayed for her.
Fawne Sugarmoon - October 29, 2007 11:00 PM (GMT)
She turned her head to look as Rasaq whilst still keeping it rested in the window. She allowed her grey eyes to stare at him for a while as as she watched his aimless gaze out on the grounds. She allowed the comfortable silence to fill the room as she observed. She could tell his thoughts were miles away.
"Kunt for your musings?" Her voice broke through the silence softly rather than sharply.
Rasaq Jones - October 30, 2007 05:14 AM (GMT)
He turned to look at her after her statement. He looked at her and said "Well, my sis who lives with my mother got pregnant. She's known for a few weeks, but she doesn't wanna tell momma. She's only seventeen years old. She's my old sis, but I feel like I gotta help her out. I love her though. Only one that gets me. So far anyways." With that last statement he looked into her eyes and smiled. He then found his eyes following themselves back to her hair and the curls.
Fawne Sugarmoon - October 30, 2007 11:33 PM (GMT)
Fawne seemed to sit up straight and rather elegantly to stop her leaning on the window. She smiled sweetly rather than wistfully and her misty eyes bored into Rasaq's in a non-imposing manor. her voice speaking in light tones as if to express her idea as merely a whimsical thought.
"Perhpas she needs only to tell the truth. If the truth is revealed later by a someone other it often causes more hurt. Secret can bare heavy on their keepers. Honesty is a rather delightful defence..."
She seemed to follow his gaze for a short while to her curls, she reached up a hand and twisted one around her slender index finger, a rather girl like act for Fawne.
"I find natural curls are wonderful..." She grinned slightly in jest, the slightness matched her dream like persona.
Rasaq Jones - October 31, 2007 05:36 AM (GMT)
He looked at her as she twisted her hair and spoke. It was defiently a teasing mood in his mind, but he liked being teased. He reached up to his hair with one hand and pulled his hair straight. It went down to about his chest. "My hair is kinda curly too, so I know what you mean." He smiled and let his hair go as it went back up to where it was. He leaned back against the wood window sill but pulled back when it creaked slightly. His goal was to get down to one hundred ninety pounds, and right now he was at thirty away from that goal.
Fawne Sugarmoon - October 31, 2007 06:34 PM (GMT)
She stared in awe at the true length of his hair. It was like on of those muggle toys, shaped like a ball that extended and shrank. She reached up and lightly touched his hair as if to see if it was bouncy before placing her hand on the window sill.
"I am sorry i could not resist..." She tilted her head and allowed a thought to flicker across her eyes. "I do believe if you used a straighting potion that your hair would resemble one of those Muggle singer's. A..." She paused as if racking her brain. "Pebble Star."
Rasaq Jones - October 31, 2007 10:10 PM (GMT)
He smiled and said "A rock star you mean? I guess. But that's not my style. I'm a fan of hip-hop and rap. It's a bit more...urban." He looked at her, waiting to see that she had no clue what he was talking about. He smiled and put one hand on his forehead and ran it back over his hair, pushing his hair down as he did. He held it back by his forehead before letting it go.
Fawne Sugarmoon - October 31, 2007 11:44 PM (GMT)
She tilted her head and watched him curiously as he spoke, obviously clueless. She was more than a little lost as to what he was speaking about. She hadn't taken muggle studies after all. She giggled softly as he fiddled with his hair. It wasn't often Fawne got to sit a discuss hair, with a boy no less.
"Do you not think Pebble Star sounds better, Pebble has more syllables." She smiled as she said this, to show she didn't mind be corrected. Some people would take offence but not Fawne; in fact the day Fawne took offence was the day something bad happened.
"May i request your help in learning about Muggle music, only it all seems rather confusing... Why would your Hip hop?"
Rasaq Jones - November 3, 2007 01:20 AM (GMT)
He smiled and said "Your hip doesn't literally hop, but it makes you wanna move your hips. If you want, I can explain some music to ya. Music is kinda my thing." He grinned and stood up, to turn around and look out the window. His mother raised him a Muggle until his eleventh birthday, and in many ways, he still seemed to be one.
Fawne Sugarmoon - November 3, 2007 01:41 AM (GMT)
She gracefully followed suit and slid of the window. Once fully stood up she twirled around on one foot, quite appropriate considering she was wearing ballet styled shoes. She smiled at Rasaq as she stop twirling and turned to face him...
"I think i would like that. Muggle music has many terms..."
Rasaq Jones - November 3, 2007 01:51 AM (GMT)
He turned to look at her, then turned back to looking outside. The wind blew his hair slightly, causing it to get pushed back. He smiled and said "Ya, there are a lot of things that are cool about it. It's sorta my passion." He continued to look out the window, thinking quietly to himself. He had a conflict. It was choose the wizarding world, or becoem a Muggle when he left and hide his powers. He sighed and looked at the floor.
Fawne Sugarmoon - November 3, 2007 01:57 AM (GMT)
She titled her head slightly, noticing his change in behaviour. She quickly too a few soft silent steps forwards and closed the gap between them. She tilted his head upwards away from the floor in a friendly manner before removing her hand and smiling lightly, her silvery grey misty eyes staring into his own as if looking for the answer. Her head was still tilted causing her long hair tumbling across her shoulders.
"Something is vexing you, as your friend i am inclined to ask what this something is...Friends help each other."
Rasaq Jones - November 3, 2007 02:03 AM (GMT)
He had been a little suprised to find a hand on his face but it didn't startle him. He smiled at her and said "Thanks friend." He opened his mouth and said after a few seconds "My passion is Muggle music, but I'm a wizard, so I dunno what to do. I've been doing pretty well in my community, but people here don't get much out of it. And it kinda sucks."
Fawne Sugarmoon - November 4, 2007 09:21 PM (GMT)
Fawne closed her eyes languidly in thought; though not scrunched she never scrunched up her face it looked silly. She blinked before staring back at Rasaq a small smile still set on her features, she was still imposing on his personal space and had yet to step back...
"I think it would be a delightful idea for you to let the wizarding world hear this muggle music, with its many interesting names... I'd be happy to add a few charms."
She reached her left hand into her right sleeve and drew out her wand, finally stepping back slightly from Rasaq. She flicked her wand and almost soundlessly spoke a charm; harmless sparks of many colours shot form the end of her wand as she twirled it in graceful arcs to make patterns, her silver eyes reflecting the gems of light. As owls began to hoot nosily at the disruption she stopped the spell to quieten them. She stared straight into Rasaq's eyes as if to see his reaction to her idea.
