*Sentinus had just unveiled his true form to The Family, and Melanie's mental state was deteriorating rapidly. Her doubt in The Family was growing, and she was panicking at the idea that she had made another horrible decision. Fear was overwhelming her, because she knew that there would be no safe way out of it. She needed someone to talk to who would understand how she was feeling and not be angry at her or threaten to tell Sentinus how she felt. She put almost no thought into her choice of who to talk to, because there would be only one possible person there at that moment who would be able to console her at all, because he was the only person who wasn't on Sentinus's side.

Dorien.

She ran down to his cell and was in tears before she got there. She collapsed in front of his cell and started bawling*

Melanie:"Everything's going wrong! It wasn't supposed to end up like this. It wasn't supposed to be horrible!"



~Mel

*Dorien had his back to Melanie, looking out his tiny window. He listened to her crying. Dorien eye brows furrowed slightly and a crease formed in her flawless skinbetween his eyes. He turned to look at the girl on the floor, and took a step closer towards the bars, the chains he was bound to the wall with rattled, reminding him that he couldn't help her as he wanted to help her. The weakness that Melanie potrayed sent a fresh dose of venom flooding into his mouth. He ignored it as best he could.* "What did you expect it to be like?" *He had spoken after a long pause and kept his voice low, not taking his eyes off of her.*

*The sound of his voice relieved her of some of her tension. She began to take deeper breaths to try and calm herself down.*

Melanie:"I didn't think that my plans would all go wrong. Sentinus wasn't supposed to be the bad one, he was supposed to help me and make me better. Now he's ruining me...he's ruining everything! He's awful, Dorien! You should see him...and he's condemning so-called monsters....I don't know what to do!"




~Mel

"I should see him? Melanie, I have seen him. I've seen him every day as he torutes me to try to find a way to kill me. He has always been a monster and always will be a monster. Unless someone can break him...." *Dorien wrapped his long white fingers around the bars of his cell* "And now itmight be too late...."

Melanie:"Have you seen him now, Dorien? After his transformation?" *she asked with urgency*"It's too late to stop him, no one will fight that. They know that they would lose."




~Mel

*Dorien leaned his forehead against the bars and looked down at her.* "Of course I know what he looks like......I was there for the transformation." *He sighed* "There will always be people who will fight him. The resistance won't give up untill it kills them. You should know that. They're your friends. Or were your friends at least."

Melanie:"They're still my friends!" *She lashed out at him, being angry that he would think otherwise.*"If they want to be." *she continued after a pause.*"And now I have to go back to school again- everyone will be there, but no one will talk to me. At least I'll get to see my brothers again. I shouldn't have abandoned them like that...they had nothing to do but stay at Hogwarts. What if I die, Dorien? What if I die and it comes to summer break and they have no where to go?"

*Melanie had absolutely no idea that Ian had joined The Resistance; She figured that Kiley wouldn't have let him.*



~Mel

"After what you've done to them? I was there when they heard you'd betrayed them all and joined the Family. I heard about it for abouta month afterwards.....about how much it had hurt them. How much it had hurt all of us." *He wated a long moment for that to sink in before dropping the bomb.* "Ian's with the resistance, Melanie. He has a place to go." *Dorien watched Mel's form on the ground with his dark eyes. His voice was like velvet, but dangerious., There was deffinetly an edge to it. He wantedd her to feel some of the anger of the resistance through him.*

*When Dorien told her about how her friends reacted, she lost the bubble of hope that she had inside her. Her friends meant everything to her, and now that she was assured that they would never forgive her....Ian was with The Resistance? Kiley let...he actually...he was staying with...risking his life....*

Melanie:"God d*mmit!" *She screamed, banging on the floor in front of her (because she was still on the ground).*"If they find out, Dorien, that he's there...they'll use him. They'll kill him in front of everyone because they know it would prove something. Sentinus would do that because...." *She was talking without really thinking, but caught herself before slipping and saying that he was a cold-hearted murderer. Stupid vampire talents. She stopped and glanced at Dorien*"Because it's what he does."



~Mel

"I know." *He took a step back away from the bars. Dorien was without a shirt and his pale skin almost glowed as he stepped into the patch of moonlight shining through the mall window* "He's tried to mill me.' *He wasn't saying it to evoke pity, just to state a fact. Maybe make her feel guilty for the group of people she was with* "And just beacuse I'm who I am. Maybe just because..." *He looked down at his arm and ran his finger along a blue vein. After a moment he looked up from his arm at her.* "Why are you here?" *Dorien looked at her with mild currosity.*
