Title: Cookies and Milk
Description: anyone

Casey Bryant - December 16, 2007 05:24 PM (GMT)
Casey made her way down the familiar path to the kitchen. It was way past curfew, but she didn't really mind. When you have a craving you just have to satisfy it, and right now Casey was desperate for some fresh cookies and glass of milk. She doubted the house elves would mind, they loved to give her food.

There was a little more to sneaking to the kitchen than just a craving, she just couldn't sleep. She'd been sat by the dwindling fire for the past couple of hours and couldn't stand it anymore. Casey was restless and not even close to being tired and the best place she could think of going to was the kitchens.

Finn did not fear punishment. His brother was the headmaster for christsake. He lumosed his wand and headed towards the kitchen for a midnight snack. He was surprised when he entered the kitchens to see anyone else there. It was a girl he had classes with before, but he didn't know her well. "Casey, right?" He asked, picking up a cookie and dunking it in the milk. Elves made the best cookies... He hoped he would one day own one.

Casey looked up curiously as someone entered the kitchens, her heart raced momentarily by the surprise. She worried for a second that it might a teacher. She calmed down though when she found that it was a student. She recognized him from classes. "Yea, I'm Casey... Finnigan right?" she responded shyly. He was a slytherin, she was a hufflepuff, it was common knowledge that the two houses didn't get along, so she hardly knew him, just the odd class with him.

He watched her jump. He was glad he was still somewhat stealthy. He hadn't been able to scare people like that recently. Although, he supposed he didn't want to... "Just Finn will do." He said smiling. "Time for a midnight snack?" he asked, knowing that was probably why she was there. Finn liked eating at strange times. He absolutely hated having to eat at a specific time like the schedule at Hogwarts. He picked up another cookie, much to the chagrin of one of the elves.

"Finn. OK, I can remember that." Casey took a bite from a particularly good looking chocolate chip cookie and took a sip from her milk. "There's nothing better than a midnight snack," she stated with a bit of a smile, looking down at the floor rather than Finn. She was shy, as always, still, at least she was having a conversation with him rather than just standing there. Ok, so got a slytherin he didn't seem that bad really, actually he seemed rather nice.

Finn smiled. He was instantly reminded of a girl he went to muggle primary school with. She used to be on some kind of medicine that suppressed her appetite and so, she brought little containers and packed her school lunch in them. "I've had a hard time eating with everyone else. I think I worry about everyone's political motivations. Everyone thinks that what they are doing are right, but what is right? Do you know what I mean?" Finn picked up a knife and began cutting a piece of roast beef from the night's dinner. He cut in in smaller and smaller pieces until they were bite sized.

Casey nodded. "Yea, I know what you mean. I just don't like eating with so many people. It gets so loud, and there's just so many people there. I dunno, I'm just a shy person and I don't like crowds much," She admitted, surprised at the fact that she was actually holding a conversation with someone. She blushed lightly and looked back down at her feet, taking a cookie from the tray. "The elves make the best cookies, don't they? That's the best part of the holidays, all the great desserts."

Finnigan Tatupu - December 24, 2007 02:44 AM (GMT)
Finn nodded in agreement. He never talked to strangers like this before... "I don't really like all the cliqueiness of each house... I have never fit in with them... I'm not particularly shy or anything like that, but I just don't like all those people... I"m not good in those situations."

OOC: I'm sorry it's taken sooo long for me to post back... we have three computers and all of them crashed... Now we only have one working and have to take turns...

Casey Bryant - December 24, 2007 03:27 AM (GMT)
OOC: that's ok!! that really sucks though!! I would die.

Casey nodded, "I don't fit in and I'm completely shy, so I'm just kind of screwed over from that view point. Seems like we actually have something in common there." She smiled, still avoiding eye contact at this point. She was surprised with herself, though. She was holding a conversation and she was actually coming out with complete sentences rather than just one word sentences

Finn smiled. He liked this new girl. He couldn't believe he liked a hufflepuff. They were usually such oddballs, but not this one. He could tell she was different. She was shy like the rest, but wasn't necessarily a pushover. He finished his milk, and put his glass in a sink. "I don't think I could be a house elf." He said, "What a strange existence right? They are basically slaves... But with magic... I'm surprised they don't revolt or something..."

Casey Bryant - December 24, 2007 02:34 PM (GMT)
Casey finished off her milk, leaving a little milk mustache that she whiped away. She was surprised by Finn's statment, it was completely out of the blue, but she laughed softly. "I'd have to agree with you on that one. I don't understand it, I bet they could take over so easily, we'd never stand a chance against them, and here they are, cooking and cleaning for us. Some things I'll never get," Casey stated watching some of the house elves.

Finnigan Tatupu - December 24, 2007 03:54 PM (GMT)
Finn laughed too. It was a strange thing to say, but it was the only thing he could think of. He knew many people agreed with him, even though nobody would ever say it. House elves were better off left to their own device. Slavery in any form was awful in his opinion. House elves weren't happy being slaves, they just didn't know another way and wizards liked to believe that just to keep from feeling bad about themselves. Finn yawned. "It's getting late..." he said

Casey Bryant - December 24, 2007 03:57 PM (GMT)
Casey yawned, catching it from Finn. What was it about yawns and their contagiousness. "What time is it?" She asked, time usually had a way of slipping away. She was actually beginning to feel a little tired, maybe she could go to sleep at this point. She was surprised though, Finn wasn't exactly what she'd expected him to be. Not the typical Slytherin at all.

Finnigan Tatupu - December 24, 2007 08:31 PM (GMT)
Finn looked at his small pocketwatch. "Half past one," he replied. It wasn't so late, but it was late for him as his first class started at eight in the morning and he still hadn't written an essay.

Casey Bryant - December 24, 2007 10:26 PM (GMT)
Casey yawned again. "I guess it is getting late." At this point she was used to staying up late, she'd never been one to fall asleep easily. But she had to get up early tomorrow and she didn't want to be tired all day. She slipped off the countertop, taking a cookie off of the plate.
