Title: Potions #3

Milo Scone - December 28, 2007 07:00 PM (GMT)
Milo Scone walked into his classroom with all the class assembled in their placed. He sat on his chair and sighed. He placed his tattered suitcase on the desk and pulled out a bottle of brandy, bit of the cork and swigged it, taking care to wash it around his mouth before doing so. He rubbed his eyes, stroked his stubble and then stood up.

"Potions." He spoke in a slurred, tired voice. "There is no art in this subject. You either can chop finely or you can't chop finely. Good or bad. If you are bad at potions there is little chance you will improve. However we have to teach this subject and pretend you can."

He was slightly and uncharacteristically aggressive. "Today. We shall be making "Marrowaith's Hangover Cure for Hangovered Hangovers" More commonly known as the binge-up cure."

Finnigan Tatupu - December 28, 2007 09:41 PM (GMT)
God... Finn thought, Why would you come drunk and continue drinking... Finn agreed with his point however. He knew that potions was difficult to learn and improve in. Finn raised his hand. He knew that things had gone poorly last class, and didn't want to ruin them for another week. He approached his brother's desk. "Sir," He said quietly, nearly whispering, "You shouldn't show up to class drunk... You shouldn't be here... You could get into trouble and I can't bear to see you hurt..." He paused. He looked at the ingredients list for this potion it wasn't particularly difficult. "Why don't you lie down, and we can run the class today?"

Felicity Sanders - January 3, 2008 07:12 PM (GMT)
Felicity wasn't going to lie - she knew she was awful at Potions. But being told so by her teacher did not do much to help her confidnce, even though it was evident that he was smashed. "Yeah, I'll bet you want us to make a hangover cure," she muttered as she got out of her seat and strode toward the ingredients cabinet. At least, she figured, she would get a good grade for this class. Scone was much too hammered to grade potions, and if she could get hers to him first, she would probably get her first ever O. In fact, she'd be happy with just an A.

As she passed the teacher's desk, however, she heard someone (and when she looked, she saw, to her annoyance, that it was Finn) suggesting that the class be taken over by someone else. That would put a dent in her passing, no doubt.

"No, no," she squeaked, hurrying over to the desk as well. "I mean, I'm sure Professor Scone wouldn't have come to class if he wasn't prepared to teach it. Isn't that right, Mr. -" But she broke off with a slight cough as she caught a whiff of the professor's breath - it made her eyes tear up instantly. "Merlin," she gasped, standing back quickly. "Erm, on second thought, maybe Tatupu is right, you really should get some rest today...but so as not to put undue stress on you, class might as well be cancelled." She smiled hopefully at the drunken professor.

Fawne Sugarmoon - January 4, 2008 12:40 AM (GMT)
Fawne was having one of 'those days' where her mind was too busy else where; in this case staring out of the window. And so she hadn't been paying particular attention, from her seat near the front of the class, especially when the teacher is negative about you passing. But then she would scrape an acceptable at the end of the year, hopefully, after all she was good at the detailed processes and the measuring. It was the timings she usually made a mess of.

She blinked and continued to stare out of the window her mind, vaguely aware of what was happening. It wasn't until a girl passed her seat on the way to the ingredients cupboard that she actually turned to the class payed attention. Her eyes moved the board quickly copying down the ingredients and instructions with her quill, whilst listing too the two students talking to Milo.

"Perhaps the professor would rather wait for someone to have a finished potion; for him to sample?" She didn't really mind whether he was in the class or not, she'd do the work anyway, now she was paying attention. Milo just looked like he could do with a hangover cure. Or for someone to take his alcohol away...
