Title: Teaching Fawne
Description: Fawne....duh.
Dorien Hurt - January 2, 2008 01:02 PM (GMT)
*Dorien paced around the room. Earlier in the day, Dorien had agreed to teach Fawne how to prduce a patronus in order to ward off dementors. She had been highly affected by them durring the battle between the family and the resistance, and with all the new rumors flying around that dementors arein posession of the elder wand, it would be best if she knew how to defend herself. Dorien was just the person to teach her. He had been around for over a century and in that time had become a rather good wizard. However, he had tried to kiss Fawne durring that said conversation. And it had been awkward. SO he had left and furiously played piano in the RoR untill recently, when he had taken to pacing instead.*
Fawne Sugarmoon - January 2, 2008 06:11 PM (GMT)
Fawne hummed to herself lightly as she wandered down the corridor towards the room of requirement. Of course this was more of a calming gesture for herself. Earlier she had practically forced Dorien into teaching her the spell today, in an attempt to get rid of the tension that had grown after he kissed her. Although Fawne was a hard person to surprise she had not been expecting that and it had completely confused her; It still was confusing her.
She stopped abruptly, both her walking and humming, as she reached the door or the RoR. She began to hum again when the confusion caused her nerves to act up. She lightly tapped her fingers on the door in a knock before pushing it open; stepping through the small gap.
"Hello Dorien." she gave him a small smile before continuing to hum very lightly under her breath.
Dorien Hurt - January 2, 2008 08:08 PM (GMT)
*Dorien nodded to her when she entered.* "Alright. The best way for you to learn how to do the charm is in the presence of a dementor. However, I couldn't seem to find one. And it would be a bit dangerious." *He sighed and continued to post* "So We'll just start with you getting the charm down. Then I'll try to get us a boggart or something." *He Stopped and looked over at her to see how she was taking all of this.*
Fawne Sugarmoon - January 2, 2008 08:25 PM (GMT)
She nodded numbly, not trusting herself to have enough sense to speak. It wasn't enough she had thousands of little thoughts running through her head she was now all confused about Dorien; who had placed all his walls back up again. Which surprisingly enough made her angry, something she didn't often feel, although it was her fault anyway. She twitched her fingers lightly; fidgeting in response to her mental thoughts. Another habit she'd developed recently.
"That sounds like a delightful plan." Her voice was carefully trained into a soft monotone. She had a hard time replacing walls she'd willingly let down, and her grey eyes displayed so.
Dorien Hurt - January 2, 2008 10:33 PM (GMT)
"Right." *He muttered, trying to brush off her airy voice which seemed slightly off to him. He turned to her, standing with perfect posture.* "Do you know the incantation?" *His light brown eyes flickered over her form. His eyes had been darker last time they had conviened; he had fed since he last saw her, afraid of being thirsty and angry around her all at once, not trusting himself at all.*
Fawne Sugarmoon - January 2, 2008 11:06 PM (GMT)
'yes right' her soft mumble was barely spoken to herself never mind the world. A small movement of her lips being the only sign she spoke at all. Grey eyes held steady as she looked at him, refusing to move her gaze from his face; only now noting the change in eye colour he often possessed. Upon normal circumstances she would of just thought over why but right now she was to busy attempting to retain an air of normality to focus on much else. She reached her hand to the left side of her shorts belt loops, drawing her wand and twirling it nimbly through her fingers.
"Expecto Patronum i believe." her voice once again held in careful soft monotones. This was obviously a tone she had to use in the past.
Dorien Hurt - January 5, 2008 08:04 PM (GMT)
*Dorien had picked up on her comment but just pretended like he hadn't. When she repeated the correct words he nodded* "Correct. Now to get it to work you ahve to think of the happiest memory you've ever had. and you have to concentrate on it; let it fill you up. Do that now."
Fawne Sugarmoon - January 5, 2008 09:28 PM (GMT)
She wracked her brains for the happiest memory she could think of. Her thoughts vaguely passing over time with her family, time with her friends, time with Dorien and the end of the battle. Each a happy event in some form but each not particularly the happiest. She continued to twirl her wand nervously whilst thinking, closing her eyes in thought. Eventually she settled on a happy afternoon she'd spent with Craven; not the happiest but worth a try.
She kept her eyes closed and stopped the fidgeting. In an attempt to get rid of her nerves; thought it was hard since it was Dorien making her nervous. She wrinkled her noise lightly as she scrunched her eyes closed further, attempting to focus on the memory as she spoke in the same soft monotone as before.
"I think i have a suitable memory..."
Dorien Hurt - January 5, 2008 09:41 PM (GMT)
*Dorien, in turn, tried to think of his own happiest memory, even though he didn't really need to. He settled on the memory he normally used, one with his family of them all playing baseball together about 10 years ago. It had been pouring down rain, and thundering and lightning, but that had been necessary so the loud crack the ball made when it struck the bat would go unnoticed. The memory faded when she spoke, pulling him ack into the present and the tense situation he was in at the moment.* "Alright....take out your wand and try the spell....Expecto Patronum...." *He spoke softly and clearly, trying not to disrupt her thoughts and ruin her chances of a patronus.*
Fawne Sugarmoon - January 5, 2008 10:11 PM (GMT)
She listened to his voice carefully, whilst retaining the image of the memory in her mind; she decided vaguely that she preferred his soft explaining tone of voice to the cold indifferent one she'd been receiving. She followed his instructions, pointing her wand vaguely in front her; eyes still shut focusing on the memory, it was getting to the point where Craven had joked with her.
"Expecto Patronum"
Her voice took on its normal tones as she spoke the spell as clearly as she could manage. She focused all the happiness from the memory she could into the words. Opening her eyes quickly as she could after speaking; she was just able to see the small shapeless silver mist that formed and vanished shortly after.
"Oh." her voice held very mild disappointment but it had yet, thankfully, to switch back to the monotone she'd been using.
Dorien Hurt - January 5, 2008 10:16 PM (GMT)
"No no, that was a good first try...I didn't expect you to get it perfect at first....nobody would." *He took a step foward.* "Try a different memory....maybe a happier one. Something...stronger." *He nodded and watched her eagerly, forgetting momentarily about the tension.*
Fawne Sugarmoon - January 5, 2008 10:34 PM (GMT)
She gave him a half smile, thanking him for being supportive about the failed attempt and not mean. She bounced slightly on the balls of her feet, eager to complete the spell and not at all bothered about the nerves that being around Dorien had been given her.
She closed her silver eyes slowly her mind searching through memories. This time she settled on one during the battle, she blocked out the surrounding memories of the actual battle filed and focused only on the happy feeling she had gained from seeing Dorien free. She pointed the wand more firmly in front of her, putting more effort into focusing on the happy memory. Opening her eyes before speaking the spell.
"Expecto Patronum"
This time the silvery mist appeared for longer and even took a more solid form, nothing decipherable, before vanishing.
"That was better." her tone of voice was set somewhere between a a question and a statement like she wasn't quite sure if it was better or not.
Dorien Hurt - January 5, 2008 10:50 PM (GMT)
"That was much better." *He grinned for the first time around her since being back in the school.* "Obviously a much stronger memory. Can I ask what it was?" *he asked hesitantly, telling himself that he was trying to help her, but in reality, it was really because he was curious about her still.*
Fawne Sugarmoon - January 5, 2008 11:00 PM (GMT)
It took a lot to make Fawne outwardly awkward, she was the type of person who would just brush things off. There was only one person she knew who had accomplished making her awkward more than once and that was Dorien. Thankfully now was not one of those times, mainly because she saw nothing wrong with stating the memory aloud; a normal person may have but not Fawne. She didn't even pause before answering her now normal voice tinted with childlike happiness at having improved.
"Of course. I choose to think on the memory of first seeing you free. I was rather happy to see you free; no longer hurt and no longer restrained by your brothers during escape. But actually free. I thought of my time spent with Craven before." a small half smile was set on her lips as she bounced lightly on her feet, happy at having improved.
Dorien Hurt - January 6, 2008 09:54 PM (GMT)
*Dorien almost shot her a disapproving glance, but couldn't bring himself to do it. Instead he just turned around and closed his eyes, his long pale fingers rubbing his temples in small circles as if he had a headache. He didn't know why that bothered him so. And at the same time he didn't understand how the stronger of the two memories, the one that made her happier, was one of him and not of one of her family members, and yet she had reacted like she did when he kissed her. It didn't add up to him. It was beyond frusterating.* "Try it again....you can use that memory or another one if you'd like." *His voice had the strangled quality again.*
Fawne Sugarmoon - January 6, 2008 10:14 PM (GMT)
Her smile dropped when she heard the strange tone in his voice again, momentarily forgetting her glee at improving. With the forgotten glee both the childish quality of her voice and the bouncing on the balls of her feet stopped. Now she absently picked at the hem of her shirt with her right hand, left still holding her wand.
"Perhaps i should choose a different memory. Though i find it hard to choose which is happiest. May i ask what you remember?" she couldn't quite bring herself to force the soft monotone back on her voice and it stayed its normal melodic tones, if a little quieter.
Dorien Hurt - January 6, 2008 10:28 PM (GMT)
*Dorien silently hesitated before moving over to the piano bench. He faced the piano for a moment, thinking* "I find it easier to alternate between memories. Sometimes there are memories that are clearer than others." *He sighed and lifted his hands to the equally pale key of the piano. He pretended to play, hearing the notes in his head instead of actually pressing down to make the music outloud.* "Sometimes it's playing baseball with my family. About ten years ago. When it storms we go up to a clearing near our house and play.....there needs to be thunder so nobody can hear the ball hitting the bat." *He sighed and stopped 'playing'* "Other times it's the feeling I get when I play my piano....Or when I go to an empty field on a sunny day and just lay there in the sun...." *There was a fourth. When he was in captivity and Fawne would come to visit him. But he didn't intend on telling her that.*
Fawne Sugarmoon - January 6, 2008 10:41 PM (GMT)
She had watched him move about carefully, though she herself didn't move an inch from her own spot. Her grey eyes watched his fingers with rapt attention as the moved across the keys without actually playing; it was rather distracting. It took a moment for her to reply after Dorien had spoken. Mostly because her mind was picturing each of these events but in her own case. But it didn't help that another part of her mind was upset that her question had caused him to act all odd again,
"They sound like delightful memories, i recall you mentioning the piano before." she choose not to add 'in the cell' to the end of her sentence. There was no smile on her face yet her tone was sincere. She did just not feel like smiling.
"Thank you Dorien. I think i know of a new memory i can use now." Her new memory was a sort of combination of the themes Dorien had mentioned. "May i try again?"
Dorien Hurt - January 6, 2008 10:59 PM (GMT)
"Of course." *He concentrated on sheilding his pain before turning around on the bench to watch her.* "Remember to concentrate fully on the memory. Even moe than you feel you need to. When there are dementors around it will be much more difficult. And speak loud and clear." *He lowered teh key covers on the piano and leaned back, watching her.*
Fawne Sugarmoon - January 6, 2008 11:56 PM (GMT)
As he turned around she watched him, her eyes expressing some unreadable emotion at the gap that had grown between them since earlier. She blinked breaking her gaze before she nodded her head lightly in response. She gripped her wand tighter and dropped her right hand to her side before concentrating on the memory she had chosen. Though this time she did not close her eyes, emotions drifting across them as she thought.
She had chosen to think back on a time when she visited Dorien, since last time Dorien's presence in the memory had improved the spell, that and he had been a big presence in her recent memories. She specifically thought back to the time she visited him with daisies in her hair; it had been a sunny day and she had been happy to see him glad for his friendship. She numbly blocked out the fact it was in a cell and he was a prisoner. Focusing only on the conversation and the sense of happiness she gained from it.
"Expecto Patronum" her soft voice was firmer in quality though still melodic. It an attempt to produce better results.
The silver mist formed once more, only this time certainly more solid than the previous attempts. It even took on a shape of some form, perhaps the size of a large bulky dog, four paws were decipherable. She attempted to concentrate more on the memory, the sense happiness, she even attempted to focus vaguely on the comforting sense having Dorien near provided. Her eyes became vaguely aware of the more solid form the spell was taking by the second. When she finally gave the patronum her full attention she realised it looked like a bear cub; though what type she hadn't figured out as the form disappeared.
"That is rather difficult."
OOC: this took me so long because i couldn't decide what her Patronum should be . A bird seemed to obvious lol. And poor Dorien, all the tension. Makes a nice plot though lol.
Dorien Hurt - January 14, 2008 03:49 PM (GMT)
ooc: lol, Yeah, I understand. And I'm sorry I was gone for a while. I had my chemestry mi terms and I've been studying like crazy (which is why I'm home sick...I had to leave after the mid terms.)
ic:
*Dorien watcher her, his pale hands balled up into fists. He wanted her to get it. If she could accomplish the spell i would mean that their friendship had actually produced a tangable result, and he would be satisfied. In a selfish way, it would be proof to him that maybe there was some sort of reason that he was how he was. Her patronus almost had reached it's solid form, but then dissolved into tthe air. He sighed and let out a breath that he had not noticed he was holding.* "Yes, it is very advanced magic." *He said wearily* "Do you need to rest? It can be draining."
Fawne Sugarmoon - January 14, 2008 10:10 PM (GMT)
OOC: honestly its fine, exams are horrid anyway.. But since you have a bit of time off, treat yourself to doing nothing lol.
IC:
Fawne had failed to notice Dorien's reaction to her attempt as she had been so wrapped up in attempting the spell. She shook her wrist lightly, like she had writers cramp, before grasping the wand tighter. She seemed none the worse for wear, though she did admit thinking of memories was a rather mentally draining process. She realised she hadn't answered him and she shook her head slowly.
"No thank you, i would like to try once more." her voice was soft but stubborn, and it was infamously true Fawne was the type of person who stuck to an idea.
She choose not to use a memory this time but rather an idea, one that made her feel happy. She pictured her own Family well and together, her with them, alongside her friends. The people who truly mattered to her, surrounding her. She used previous events for inspiration before focusing on the happy feelings.
"Expecto Patronum"
This time the mist formed into a shape right away, taking on the slightly blurry form of before. It seemed to solidify into a corporeal patronus rather quickly after that and she finally found it was a bear cub, probably a Brown Bear cub. Though of course she couldn't really tell without colour, as it was silver.
Her eyes widened in glee and a smile quickly framed her face. She bent down towards the still formed Patronus and reached a lithe hand towards it. As expected her hand past right through it though she could have sworn the bear cub blinked as i did so.
"Oh, its delightful, a bear cub!" She stopped concentrating on the spell and the patronus disappeared, before so rose back to her feet. She took a step forwards as if about run and hug Dorien. Before she stopped dead and instead offered him a smile, though no words yet.
Dorien Hurt - January 15, 2008 02:58 PM (GMT)
*Dorien had stood and smiled when the patronus took on it's true form. And he had been prepared to hug her, simply because he was caught up in the moment of acomplishing the charm. But she stopped short. His smiled faultered and he glanced away.* "Well done....I wasn't expecting yoursto be a bear cub...." *He felt the tension once more. Thoughts bombarded him for possible reasons why she would have stopped short. The most likely being that she simply forgot for a moment that she found him repulsive and had also been caught up in the moment. But then she remembered and had stopped just in time. He took a few steps towards the couch and bent over to pick up his jacket.* "Anyway, i should probably go...." *He mumbled.*
ooc: you better stop him lol
Fawne Sugarmoon - January 15, 2008 06:56 PM (GMT)
She watched him step towards the couch without moving. Though her smile seemed to lesson. She was still very much confused about before, that's why she had refrained from hugging him. For her own state mind. Without thinking if through she took a few quick steps towards the couch and Dorien. Her hands replacing her wand to her belt loops.
"I would prefer if you stayed..." Her voice was soft, mumbled almost. As if she didn't really expect him to stay. She fidgeted with her hands, as if contemplating something.
Dorien Hurt - January 18, 2008 07:20 PM (GMT)
*Dorien stopped and turned around to face her* "Why? You know Fawne, I don't get you. One minute we're friends, and then......then I kiss you and you act weird, and now we're friends again. Make up your mind. If you don't want me around anymore, I'll go. You don't have to pretend for my benefit. I've had worse." *He sighed and glanced around then looking back to Fawne.* "So what is it?"
Fawne Sugarmoon - January 19, 2008 01:27 AM (GMT)
She glanced down at his words, refusing to look at him. A contemplative look on her face. What did she want? She wasn't sure herself but she knew she didn't want him gone. She sighed softly, not a sad sigh but more a confused one. She lifted her gaze and looked at his eyes, hoping she could portray the truth of her words.
"I would like to share something with you Dorien. For you see I simply do not know. You surprised me before or rather that does not usually happen to me. And so i am confused but i do not wish to lose such a dear friend to me...." Her voice was soft and contemplative, she seemed even further away than usual but it was clear she spoke her truth.
Dorien Hurt - January 19, 2008 05:27 PM (GMT)
*Dorien sighed and nodded. he drpeed his jacket back on the couch and took another step towards the piano, his back turned to Fawne.* "I'm sorry I've dragged you into this." *He said softly.* "In a few weeks, I'm going back home...my family's been worried about me since they had to deal with me after the family situation." *He lifted up the key cover and just stared at the keys.* "They don't think that I can handle the school...I wasn't going to tell you for a while."
Fawne Sugarmoon - January 22, 2008 08:12 PM (GMT)
She herself choose to drop, surprisingly gracefully, onto the couch; folding her hands neatly in her lap as she listened to his words. She almost violently slammed her hands down on the edge of the couch in either annoyance or shock. Though she showed no other signs of anger.
"Stop it. i will not let you carry guilt for nothing. For i was dragged into nothing. I willingly choose my path..." her voice seemed soft though it held slightly harsher tones, after all she was upset. She sighed and clasped her hands. "I believe i shall be selfish today for i request that you stay here, with me. I- " she paused because she thought adding on 'only really have you left' was far to sappy even for her own blunt nature. "I am disappointed you were not going to tell me this soon. I like to think you would not leave without saying good bye..."
Dorien Hurt - January 22, 2008 10:22 PM (GMT)
*Dorien's jaw tightened considerably when she said he was carrying the guilt for nothing. It wasn't for nothing.* "It would have been easier on you if I wouldn't have told you." *He said, his voice still soft.* "You would have forgotten me soon enough."
Fawne Sugarmoon - January 22, 2008 10:29 PM (GMT)
She made a noise somewhere between a squeak and a sigh after he finished speaking; upset annoyance traveling off her in waves though her outward posture didn't change and her face was carefully blank.
"Stop it! Do not, do not pretend i would forget. I would not and you know it, i rather think i would have remembered all the more if you would have left without telling me." her voice although still full of melodic tones, which were laced in her speech, was less soft than normal. Almost upset.
She stood quickly from the chair and faced away from Dorien, attempting to calm down to her normal nature. She wrung her hands carefully in front of her.
Dorien Hurt - January 22, 2008 10:39 PM (GMT)
*Dorien turned around to face her jsut as she turned from him. Frusterated, he turned back to the piano and began to play. He played a slow, sad melody that he had written himself. Dorien closed his eyes and sighed, investing himself completely emotionally in the song. He didn't know what to say to her anymore, so he just played.*
*He hadn't decided if he was going to leave with Emmett and Jasper. Part of him wanted to leave and get away from the problems. But the other part of him didn't want to leave Fawne there by herself. If she got hurt after he left, it would be his fault.*
ooc: sorry.....that's kind of a really crap post. lol I'm sick...it's my excuse.
Fawne Sugarmoon - January 22, 2008 10:51 PM (GMT)
OOC:I'll let you off. This once lol
She didn't turn to watch him play, like she usually would of done. She continued to face the opposite way torn and even more confused than before. She was even more confused because it had been years since someone had been able to get under her skin so much that she could actually get mad at them. Even her mother had never achieved making her mad. It made her feel nervous and skittish to think of it.
As she turned to face him any harsh words she had contemplated died on her tongue. She felt bad for being so harsh already. She breathed deeply; and softly on purpose as if calming herself, a hand twisting a curly section of hair around her fingers.
"I apologise. You have every right to leave and i have no right to stop you...I shall miss you."
Dorien Hurt - January 22, 2008 11:46 PM (GMT)
ooc: if that's you only attempt to stop him....I will hunt you down and slap you. lol jk
ic:
*Dorien felt a twang of some strong emotion that he couldn't really place. He should beglad that he could leave and keep her from being in danger any longer. But instead he was somewhat dissappointed that he was just going to give up like that. He stopped playing and closed the keys off again before standing in one graceful and lithe movement* "Yes well....I suppose I should probably leave sooner rather than later." *He glanced around the room, figuring at he might as well leave now rather than wait*
Fawne Sugarmoon - January 23, 2008 12:08 AM (GMT)
She was far from happy that he was leaving, in fact her eyes seemed duller and sadder than usual there was even a hint of annoyance lurking in their depths. These mixed feelings all added up to an emotion sahe didn't quite want to name because it meant she'd been a fool earlier. Plus she wasn't used to feeling like this and it was still very much new territory to her. Then throw in the fact hes a vampire and she was plain odd and it all seem relativity simple, not.
She blinked but kept her gaze firmly locked on him as she took a few steps forwards. She stopped her steps forwards only inches from him and raised herself onto her tip toes, to reach a height closer to his. She was acting on impulse rather than thought and did something that surprised even herself. Closing her eyes and the now even smaller gap she placed a small, feather light kiss on his cheek before dropping back down the flats of her feet and averting her gaze to the floor. She spoke in an even softer voice than normal
though she did not seem embarrassed, it seemed some of her normal behaviour was returning.
"Would you like to know what though i used for the charm? I thought of you, my family and the other few i care for. All happy and safe. It was the most pleasant thought i had."
OOC: see that's were Dorien went wrong, make her mad and threaten to leave and he gets a kiss on the cheek lol.
Dorien Hurt - January 23, 2008 02:01 AM (GMT)
*Dorien was taken by suprise when she kissed him. It was a strange feeling. Regret from knowing that he couldn't leave even if he want to along with disappointment that it wasn't a real kiss, which came with a sort of releaf that she didn't really kiss him and take him by suprise since he still didn't totally trust himself, and joy that she was actually kissing him in the first place. He was silent for a moment, savoring the warmness on his cheek from her lips. Eventually he grinned.* "Does this mean you'd like me to stay?"
Fawne Sugarmoon - January 23, 2008 10:19 PM (GMT)
She raised her grey eyes to meet his, hoping he had caught the meaning of her statement. Upon noticing his grin she herself allowed a sweet smile to set itself upon her lips. The smile could almost be heard in her words as she spoke.
"I would like it very much if you stayed." She was no longer shocked at her previous actions and if anything although still a little confused she was following her impulses and was glad for it. She reached a lithe hand forward and attempted to grab hold of his, in a comforting 'please stay' sort of way; obviously she no longer had any qualms about touching him, vampire or not.
"Will you stay?" her voice was softer but still happy, and the smile had not left her face. Only her eyes seemed to show worry that he would still be leaving; and even that had been well hidden behind a misty look.
