Felicity was born into pureblooded privilege. The Sanders mansion was a thing of glory: white marble staircases, airy, beautifully decorated rooms, and of course, grounds for the children to roam. Felicity is the oldest of the bunch, her leadership skills can attest to that. Her first brother, Peter, is a year younger than her, and the vague memories she has of the mansion are those spent with him. However, by the time she was seven, her family had decided to move to a more secretive spot. As a pureblood family with lots of money, and one that refused to join in the dark movements that were stirring, her parents decided that for their children's sake, they would disappear. And so the Sanders moved to a small house (well, compared to the mansion), in the heavily Muggle populated town of Welshpool. Within six months of the move, her youngest brother, Brennan, was born.
Her childhood actually passed fairly uneventfully: she got into trouble with her brothers many times, and trouble for stealing her father's wand many more, but the family lived a happily peaceful life. Her father began working for the Ministry as an informant for the Order of the Pheonix, even though he didn't have to. Her mother made friends with a Muggle woman across the street and took up a post as her assistant in a flourist shop, and Felicity and her two brothers played amongst themselves without a care in the world. Felicity might have been a bit pampered, but she was allowed freedom to make her own mistakes and resolve her own conflicts. She got a few bruises and scratches from 'adventures' she tried to undertake, and shed a few tears, but she came away from her experiments fairly unscathed. She also idol-worshipped her father (and still does), and it was probably from watching him work actively against the forces of darkness in the wizarding world that she developed such a strong voice of her own.
When she was eleven and her letter came inviting her to Hogwarts, she was elated. Although her parents were reluctant to let her from their sight during the time of the Dark Lord's rise, they let her go and she would have jumped off the train and ran if she thought she would get there faster. In fact, away-from-home jitters worked quite the opposite on Felicity as they seemed to on anybody else; instead of becoming shy, she practically pounced on everyone she met in an effort to make lots of friends. As a result, she spent the first part of the year chasing after people who found her buoyancy overwhelming - and annoying. The second part of the year was spent pretty much alone and friendless; as a result, her grades were amazing, but her confidence was dented. She stated emphatically to her parents she never wanted to return, however, they knew better and a summer playing with her brothers was enough to get her hopes up once more.
Luckily for her, her second year at Hogwarts fared much better - at least socially. To her parents' disappointment, she had finally come into herself and started developing friends that she didn't scare off with her "vibrant" behavior. In fact, it was second year that she begun to grow close to Aiden, a boy from Ravenclaw that was soon to become her best friend at Hogwarts for years to come. With friendships blossoming as well as the arrival of her brother, her studies wilted immediately. It was also the year she got sent to the hospital wing for being involved in a rather memorable duel with a fifth year - she managed to hold her own for quite a while before she tried a curse she had only read about once that was supposed to turn an enemy's bones "soft", whatever that meant - well, she ended up shooting a jet of cotton at her opponent before being struck by a particularly nasty Jelly Legs Hex that managed to turn
all of her limbs to jelly. Regrowing bones was something she resolved never to have to do again.
Her third year was spent studying furiously...unfortunately, none of the studying was for her classes. It was the only year that Felicity could be seen with a constant pile of books around her, but she was studying Charms. Actually, it might be better to use the terms "hexes and jinxes". In any case, Felicity had discovered a very rapid natural talent of hers and was not going to let it get put to waste - or end up in the hospital wing with her skull being the only non-jelly part of her. Her devotion and constant practice made her a force to be reckoned with. Although she wasn't constantly dueling in the hallways, she knew her spellwork was developing nicely and it was proved by her perfect grade in Charms and the fact that if someone did cross her, they were usually unable to get a spell in edgewise. When she returned home, eager to show off what she had learned, she was greeted with the news that her father was going to join forces with the Protectors. She could not deny being a bit put off about it; she felt that he had already served his duty, and after all the Dark Lord had been defeated - she wished he could pick something to do that did not involve mortal danger.
Felicity sort of floated through fourth year, spending most of her time exploring the castle (for some reason a great deal of this happened after hours), and a fair bit of it in detention as a result. She was determined to learn as much as she could about Hogwarts, and she found that it was much more fun to explore as an obsession rather than read and study, as she had the previous year. Although her workload had increased, so had her lacksadasical attitude about it. She begun what would become a year long tradition of finishing her homework at the last minute, with much lacking from it, and her grades slipped so much that her mother actually threatened not to send her back the next year.
Being so lucky as to get away with dropping grades fifth year was never an option, Felicity knew. She stepped up her effort; being from a wizarding family, O.W.L.s were a very big deal to them, and both of her parents had let her know on no uncertain terms would they continue to invest in her education if she continued as she had. She also realized that she had no idea what she wanted to do after Hogwarts, so she would need as many O.W.L.s as she could get in order to have a bigger field for choosing. So she scraped up 9 O.W.L.s (her practicals did the trick, she was convinced, as she was quite certain she wasn't going to get 5) and bore her parents extreme delight as best she could...actually, with as many gifts as she could squeeze out of them which, to her disappointment, didn't include a new broom.
Now, she is determined to get the most fun she can out of her sixth year before she starts N.E.W.T.s - she can't even begin to imagine how much free time she's going to have to give up in order to complete seventh year. In fact, she's considered trying to convince her parents she has a terminal disease in order to get out of it, and then miraculously recovering when it's too late for her to take the tests - they couldn't be mad at her then, could they?
FAMILY:
William Sanders - Father, pureblood, Felicity's long-standing idol, in league with the Protectors
Amelia Sanders - Mother, pureblood, the one Felicity goes to for advice about life, and the person who showed her that Muggles were just like them. She co-owns a flower shop with a Muggle neighbor.
Peter Sanders - Felicity's oldest younger brother, a year younger than her and definitely one of her greatest confidants.
Brennan Sanders - Seven years younger than Felicity, she still has a good time with him when she visits home, but they're nowhere near as close as her and Peter.
