The obviously expensive brown leather book is about the size of an 8" x 11" piece of paper, and the stationary is textured nicely. Large gold letters across the front read "PRIVATE DIARY". If that isn't a giveaway, what is? But anyway, it hasn't quite gone to it's intended use...

Lysander Warrington is far too busy to keep a journal. He thinks his memory works just fine, thank you, and besides that, he's not much for nostalgia or reminiscing. He's more of a do-er.

Thus, he's turned it into a To-Do list. It's a bit more personal, admittedly, than "Buy tomatoes at the supermarket", but it is fairly brief. He writes his goals - fairly short term, so that he can cross it off or put a checkmark by it, but he's been using it (and crossing things off) since his first year at Hogwarts. The pages are still crisp - he doesn't look back often.

On the first page lies the first list he created, consisting of only one item:

1. Use this for something.

Next to it is a tidy checkmark.

The list for that week was fairly long, as Lysander found that seventh years had a rather lot of homework to do. The last page he had written on was halfway full, and everything except the last item, which looked as if it had been hastily scribbled, was checked off.
