Mia sat on the edge of the lake. A cool breeze played with her blonde wavy hair. Her eyes stared blankly off into the distance. It was like the calm before the storm. Mia absent-mindedly stuck her hand into the water. It was pretty warm. Mia thought itwas good for a swim.

She jogged back to the castle and got into her bathing suit in her dorm. The swimsuit was blue and black. It had her muggle swim team's logo on it. She did a cannonball into the lake. A person walking towards her would have heard a big boom as she hit the water.

Mia opened her eyes and hr eyes stung. She quickly slipped on her goggles and opened her eyes again. the lake was marvelously green. The seaweed swayed at the bottom. If she squinted, she could see the outline of the merpeople's city.

Suddenly, she saw something flash and glimmer at the bottom. She swam down to investigate. The object was a shiny conshell, resting on a boulder not far away from the city. She swam over to it. It was immensely beautiful. Mia reached out to touch it.

As soon as her finger met with the shiy serface of the conshell, half a dozen of gaurd merpeople swam towards her, sharp pitchforks pointed. Mia quickly realized that this was a special symbol of the merpeople and started swimming back up to the surface.

Mia was a fast swimmer, being a champion on her swim team, but six extra fast merpeople against one good human swimmer, was still not a fair fight. Mia had enough energy to break through the surface and scream for help as loudly as she could before the merpeople dragged her back under the surface.

It was late afternoon and the sun had set, leaving a low light across the entire lake. Lucas was taking his usual time at the lake, it seemed when ever he had free time he would always end up at the lake. As he walked along the edge he saw a girl running towards the lake, she looked familiar as her blonde wavy hair flew through the air. Lucas laughed as she made a splash in the lake.

Lucas went and sat on the edge of the rock looking into the lake, he squinted as he saw somthing reflecting in the lake, it was the girls hair he watched her thrash about in the lake, as she camecloser it looked stranger and stranger, until finnaly she broke out onto thesurface and screamed. Lucas jumped up "Damn!" he said as he kicked off his trainers and took his shirt off and threw all his things out of his jean pockets until he was just in boxers, socks and jeans, he then dived in and started to swim towards the girl...

Mia would have cursed because she was so dumb as to leave her wand on the shore, but she didn't have too much breath to spare. As all her breath was used up, she passed out and floated down with the merpeople.

When the merpeople realized that she was out, they stuffed some gillyweed in her mouth before continuing the journey down. Mia came to and saw a human shape swimming down after her. She yelled, "Over here! Help!" All that came out, though, were a few wierd gurgles. She hoped that the person, whoever they were, had seen her.

Lucas saw the girl pass out and started to put the peddle to the metal and started to swim faster towards her, as soon as he got closer he saw that she was concious again, but he still wanted to get to her quicker, he kicked harder and got within a metre of them, as he did he kicked both feet and reached the merperson that was at the back and he grabed it, he tried his best to punch it but because he was under water it was kind of hard, but as he did the merperson swam off ~Must of been harder than i thought~

Lucas smiled as he kicked forward to the girl and sort of shoulder barged the merperson to her left, he saw his opening and grabed the girl, as he did so he saw it was in fact Mia, the girl he met in the common room the day before. Lucas started to kick away hoping Mia would be in a state to help him swim away...

Mia realized that it was Lucas who was fighting the merpeople. She smiled slightly and kicked hard when he grabbed her,. She wanted to at least help with the little strength she had left. The gillyweed had worn off and Mia couldn't breathe.

Finally, the two broke the surface. Mia took many huge breaths and scrambled onto the land and started coughing. When she had wrapped herself in her towel and recovered, Mia walked up to Lucas and said, "Thank you SO much! I don't know what I would've done!"

Then, without thinking, she kissed his cheek. She quickly turned red and started stuttering,"I... uh... gotta... uh... dry my... uh... hair" She walked over to where her wand was and flicked it at her hair. It quickly started blow drying her hair.

Lucas stood up in theshallow bit of the water as he watched Mia scramble up the beach ~damn thats nice~ Lucas thought to himself as he calmly walked up the beach, water dripping off his half naked body, he smiled and almost lost his cool exterior look as Mia ran up to him and kissed him, but he kept his cool just. Lucas smiled again and started laughing as she went to bits, he couldsee her blushing "What are the odds that it was me that came and saved you!" he smiled "Good job it wasn't that 4th year Slythirin!"

Mia decided he wasn't going to yell and cracked up, "Omigosh! That guy wouldn't have the guts to even put his piggy-toe in the lake! Maybe that first year would. Nah! He wouldn't care." mia smiled. It was really odd that the guy she was thinking of before she jumped in had actually saved her. What were the odds of that?

Lucas stopped smiling, realising how much he liked this girl, he had only known her 48 hours "So Mia, what did you do to rile those merpeople up anyway?" lucas sat down near where Mia had left her towel and other possesions.

"Well, I saw this pretty conshell and I touched it. Turns out, that thing was off limits to humans," Mia said. For some reason, she had butterflies in her stomach. It was really odd how much she liked Lucas. She had practically just met him. What were those butterflies doing in her stomach anyway? Perhaps...

Lucas laughed again "So you risked your pretty face for a shell?" Lucas asked as he continued to laugh at her. Lucas lent back and closed his eyes "So what happens now?" he said hoping she would get the jist of whatcontext he meant.

"I thought it was just a shell... Oh whatever!" she said. "So what happens now?" Mia was slightly confused at what Lucas had said. Suddenly, an idea popped into her head. She said with a smug smile on her face, "I don't now. Why don't you tell me."

Lucas had hoped she wouldn't of thought of returning the question but she had, he thought about shrugging it off and just not saying anything to her but then it hit him, why not just go for it? Lucas stood up and walked over to her, grabing her hand, he then moved in closer and closed his eyes,going in to kiss her,hoping she would do the same.

Mia had predicted correctly. She would have smiled, but now was not time for smiling. She leaned in for the kiss. She felt so good. Nothing else existed around her. Mia would probably relive this in her dreams, but she still wanted the moment to last.

Lucas moved closer to Mia, his hand moving roundto her backand hugging her tighter to his shirtless body he was still soaking wet andwas properly making her wet again, but he did not think that would bother her to much. Lucas other hand thatwas holdingMia's tighten as he kissed her more passionatly.

Mia felt Lucas hugging her. She wondered what would happen after this. She ha many questions to ask. Now wasn't the time, though. Her questions would be answered, but not now. Mia pulled away and looked into his eyes, smiling. She then kissed him once more. Although she was wet again, she didn't care. This new love for Lucas was stroner than that.

Lucas did not know what to say he had improvised with the kiss, he did not even now that Mia was not jsut going to go for it. He was expecting to get slapped and hten for her to run off, so when it came to talking he was speachless "Uhh so!" Lucas was actually embarresed, somthing that did not happen to him much.

Mia knew Lucas was embarassed. She was a little too. "So..." she said, "That's what you meant." She wondered what would happen between the two now. If it was too embarrassing, their friendship would be ruined. She hoped it wouldn't be like that. She wanted to be with Lucas. If he didn't love her, she at least wanted to be friends.

Lucas had a wierd feeling in side him, since the death of his brother he had sort of been dead inside, but he could feel it lifting. Lucas sat back down and tried to drag Mia back down to the floor with him..

Mia sat down next to Lucas and sighed. Her heart was thumping now. She waited for Lucas to speak. She felt like her fate was in his hands. She just looked at him as the wind started playing with her hair again. Her hair was getting in her face. She took two yellow ribbons and tied the strands of hair back, leaving the rest out.

Lucas turned to Mia, he could tell that there was a good future between the two of them. Lucas took in the sight of Mia, it was quite breath taking. "Mia you're so beautiful!" he smiled at her "Has anyone told you that before?"

Mia smiled as Lucas complimented her, "Lucas, that's so sweet! Noones evertold me that before except for my dad who think everything is beautiful." She really felt a strong need to kiss him, but held back as to not embarrass him again.

"Well your dad is right about one thing!" he said smiling at her. Lucas moved a little closer toher and intertwined his fingers with hers "So tell me more about you?" Lucas realised he did not know a lot about her.

Mia sighed happily, "Well, let's just say tht my whole life was based on singing back in Colorado. I had gotten a small record deal. My CD was distributed to my neighborhood in Colorado and when I moved to London. Nothing big. What about you?"

Lucas smiled "Singing hey?" lucas chuckled "Im rather a good singer myself!" Lucas lied, he was terrable but he loved singing anyway. "You want to show me your talent then?"

Mia bit her lip, still smiling. She stood up, trying to decide what song to sing. She finally said, "Okay, so this is from one of my favorite American Artists." She had picked the song Our Song by Taylor Swift. It was her all time favorite. She bagan, "I was riding shotgun, with my hair undone, in the front seat of his car..." As she sang, she hoped that he would like it. Some people who never listened to country music tended to hate it.

Lucas started to smile "Nice!" he said as he started to clap along as well as tap his foot. "You look so natural doing it, and it sounds so good!" Lucas siadhonestly, and he did not even like country music, but somthing about the song and the singer made him enjoy it.

When mia finished she sat back down and said, "You really thought tht was good?" She REALLY liked Lucas now. Now that she thought about it, maybe she was meant to be dragged down by the merpeople. Maybe it wasn't a coincidence that Lucas had saved her. Maybe it was meant to be this way.

"Its not surprising i thought it was good!" he said smiling "If it was good enough to get a record deal, if only a small one!" he smiled more "Its still some feet, i bet your parents were really proud!"

Now, Mia's smile dropped as she said, "Well, my dad sure was proud. I don't know if my mom was since I don't even know her." Mia embraced her knees and started rocking back and forth, looking down. This was not her favorite subject.

Lucas moved closer to Mia and put his other arm around her "Well you're really good and really beautiful!" he said with an honest smile on his face "If she knew you now im sure she would be incredably proud, and if she wasn't then its better that she isn't here!"

Mia smiled really widely. She really felt the urhe to kiss him again, so she did, lightly on his cheek. This sun was almost below the horizon now. It was a really beautiful sight. "Well the truth is, I never knew my mother," she said truthfully.

Lucas liked Mia kissing him, it was a very good feeling, and he could see a positive thing coming out of his secondday back at Hogwarts "Well then its better that you don't try to guess what she was like!" Lucas looked at her "Is she still alive?"

Mia was really joyful now. She answered Lucas' question unsurely, "Well, uh, I don't know, although I think so." She never had met her mom except for when she had been born, but how was she supposed to remember that. She only knew what she looked like because of the picture on her father's bedstand.

Lucas was intrigued, he wanted to know everything about this girl "So like what happened? How come you were left with your dad?" Lucas said, not realising weather she would want to talk about somthing as personalas that

Mia answered truthfully, "Well, they loved eachother a lot. For some reason, they felt like people were out to get them, kind of paranoid, you know. I also found out that I have a twin. Strangest thing. Make's me want to find her."

Lucas decided he would try and lighten the mood of the conversation "Mia i don't think i could handle two girls that looked as beautiful as you do!" he said smiling as he moved a little closer to her!"

Mia grinned, "Can you handle one?" She moved in closer at the same time that he did. Could this day get any better? Mia couldn't imagine it could. It was the best day of the best.

Lucas leaned in to kiss her "I don't know why don't you test me for like 3 or 4 hours straight!" Lucas saidas he started kissing her,hedid not stop for a while, seeing ifshewouldkeep going..

Mia kept smiling as she kissed him, although it was rather hard. The kis lasted for a while. Mia waited for Lucas to pull away, since she didn't want to end the moment. She was still amazed at how much their relationship had developed since they had met the day before.

Lucas smiled beneath the kiss, he was going to win, he was going to wait for her to break the kiss, as he continued to kiss her he pushed his weight gently towards her pushing her back down to theground slowly.
