Title: Harry Is Dead
Harry Potter - April 23, 2006 04:27 PM (GMT)
I can just tell that Harry is going to die... It's going to come down to a final battle between Harry and Voldemort and they are going to kill each other.
Hermione Granger - April 23, 2006 04:37 PM (GMT)
yeah, i think they are both going to die too. and i have a knack for knowing who dies. Like, fifth book, i KNEW sirius was going to die before the book came out. Same as i knew that commander root was going to die in the 4th artemis fowl book like 6 months before it came out and dumbledore in the sixth book. So i think harry and voldemort will die, let see if my guessing streak continues...
Harry Potter - April 23, 2006 04:42 PM (GMT)
Harry might have a child though? That would be cool.
Squall Leonheart - April 23, 2006 05:27 PM (GMT)
i dont think that they will kill each other as such, but i think they will both die.
i think the scar is the key. my belief is when Voldemort is killed, Harry's scar kills harry in some way. thats just what i think
Coldstone_Harshing - April 23, 2006 05:37 PM (GMT)
Maybe, but I dont think the scar will play a part at all.
As for deaths I dont think Harry will die, Harry potter is Young Adult fiction, its not something we want, after the story beong dragged across 7 books we dont want the MC to die, I just dont think it will make a good ending.
Squall Leonheart - April 23, 2006 05:52 PM (GMT)
it wouldnt be a bad ending though, and its the only way JK can get out of writing more books about him, which she wishes to do
Paige Robohn - April 23, 2006 06:14 PM (GMT)
But she mightchange her mind. she might want to do more books on him, therefore not killing him. I don't think he'll die. If he dies, every little child that reads harry potter will think that evil triumphs over good. which JK doesn't want. she's not evil.
Coldstone_Harshing - April 23, 2006 06:14 PM (GMT)
Harry won't die. I would like to bring up the relationship with LOTR and Narnia here, none of the Main character's die:
Frodo lives
Lucy, Edmund, Peter, Shasta, Caspian and Susan also all live.
The only evidence you have of him dying is one small thing that JK said in an interview, and I believe she said it as a joke else she would have been giving away to much:
Interviewer: Will harry have any more adventures after thelast book?
JK: WHo says I will keep him alive?
<all laugh>
or somthing like that.
Paige Robohn - April 23, 2006 06:25 PM (GMT)
that doesn't sound serious, yea, jst a joke. and the comparison makes sense. Harry can't die. it will depress people.
Squall Leonheart - April 23, 2006 06:32 PM (GMT)
she got hate-mail after killing Sirius. i dont think she cares about depressing people
or at least, i reckon she'd have gotten hate mail. i know some people probably considered it. Sirius dying depressed a lot of people, and Sirius was a more favourite character than Harry is. there arent many that say Harry is their favourite character, but a lot say Sirius
Coldstone_Harshing - April 23, 2006 07:06 PM (GMT)
Admittedly I hate Harry as a protagonist, takehim out of the situation with his parents and voldy and remove his scar, whats left: a bland idiot!
All other characters have so much more character, although Sirius never really captured me, I never really thought much of him.
Fav Charries:
Moody
Snape
Dumbledore
Umbridge
Lucius and Draco Malfoy
Squall Leonheart - April 23, 2006 08:11 PM (GMT)
yep, ill have to agree there.:
Fave characters:
Snape,
Moody
Dumbledore
Draco (im not a lucius fan)
and everyone knows i like Ginny, not for her being an amazing addition to the plot, but because she adds a change to everything. i dont, i just like her. same with Luna.
Paige Robohn - April 24, 2006 07:19 PM (GMT)
Okay, I disagree. Harry is not an idiot. He's got remarkable courage and a pure heart. that is character.
Squall Leonheart - April 24, 2006 07:57 PM (GMT)
so what? he wouldnt have all these things without his parents dying. hes nothing special, just a boy prophecised to kill someone. hes not almighty in any way shape or form. his physical characteristics are that of a weak teen, he's very emotional, he's not particularly bright, half of his things he got through purely through luck and help, and he's not really fascinating, because hes more predictable than the others. you never know what other characters are going to do (i speak about Dumbledore, Snape, Malfoy) and their unpredictibility make them much more interesting to read about. if Malfoy had to go through what Harry went through, that would be excellent, as Malfoy is a much more interesting person than Harry.
Kelly Adair - April 24, 2006 10:55 PM (GMT)
I agree. I'm not all that crazy about him, sometimes I honestly forget he's the main character. It seems like it's more about him, Ron, and, Hermione and he's the one that stands out the least in my mind.
I keep changing my mind about whether or not I think Harry will die, but I think it would make a ood ending. I think it would be more interesting.
Harry Potter - April 24, 2006 11:23 PM (GMT)
Do you all think Harry wanted his parents to die? He'd give anything to be normal. So it's not like he wants all that... Harry wouldn't be normal without his scar and his parents dieing. He still would have been a great quidditch player and a quite powerful wizard considering his background. He might of even became a great auror. I think it would be fun if JK made Harry Potter from different points of view. Like Ron and Hermione's view. And Ginny and Luna do really change everything. Lets see Luna is funny and weird. Ginny has pulled Harry out of depression, been his girlfriend, and she's been saved by him. Without Ginny the second book would have been different. I think she will play a big part in the final book.

Kelly Adair - April 24, 2006 11:52 PM (GMT)
The 1st part seems totally unrelated to what we were just saying about Harry.
Paige Robohn - April 25, 2006 06:33 PM (GMT)
Yea. But I mean come on, He's the best in their year for Defense Against the dark arts. and he's pure hearted, How can that not stand out?
Coldstone_Harshing - April 25, 2006 07:40 PM (GMT)
Because paige hes like every other hero in every other book, a bland character thrown into a spectacular situation, nothing sets him apart from anything else, he has no quirks, major flaws or weaknesses, he possibley the worst character of the books even though everything is through his point of view.
Leslie Grace - April 25, 2006 11:00 PM (GMT)
It was also never mentioned that he was the best at DADA, just really good.
Coldstone_Harshing - April 26, 2006 07:03 AM (GMT)
No, Hermione said he was the best in OoTP trying to convince him to lead the DA.
But so what really? Just because hes good at something doesnt make him a good character.
Examples of Good Characters from other Books:
Artemus Fowl - A great main character, and hes the villain accept all the readers are on his side. (Artemus Fowl)
Robert Langdon - Excellently written. (Davinci Code/Angels and Demons)
Kohler - I felt myself in near tears when his backstory was revealed.(AandD)
Sabian Blake- Greedy and has depth (Wormwood)
Beauman (SP) - I thought he was a good MC (Slaves of the Master, The Windsinger)
None of these are as bland as Harry.
Harry Potter - April 26, 2006 02:08 PM (GMT)
Harry has emotional weaknesses. I don't really care anymore lol.
Squall Leonheart - April 26, 2006 04:04 PM (GMT)
yes, Harry has emotional weaknesses, but MC's always have weaknesses. they are never the big person whose better than everyone. he's no different to Frodo, who is a terrible main character. Harry's weaknesses are emotional, Frodo's are his size and strength, yet they are both brave and pure of heart, and are thrown into the problem, although they don't wish to be in it. LOTR is actually a good example. LOTR's main character is Frodo, yet without Gandelf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and Sam, it wouldnt have any effect at all.
Liret Baroqos - April 26, 2006 05:30 PM (GMT)
Yes, the best stories are about where the MC faces trouble head on, with no real help from anyone else, they have a fear and have to overcome that fear, they are scarred yet come out shining brighter than ever. Harry has been cradled since Book 1
Paige Robohn - April 26, 2006 07:21 PM (GMT)
Okay. It makes me sad that you guys dislike harry as the main charrie, but whatever. I think he's a good main charrie.
Squall Leonheart - April 26, 2006 07:38 PM (GMT)
we're allowed our own opinions, so no need to be sad. but we have outlined why we dont like him and we have not said "we dont like him so you cant"
Paige Robohn - April 26, 2006 08:38 PM (GMT)
true, true. But my life has always been "If you disagree with someone, prove yourself right." thats why some people think I'm arrogant. I still think harry is nice though.
Hermione Granger - April 26, 2006 09:02 PM (GMT)
harry is a whinning little prat. "my mommy died." "voldemort is out to kill me" "owww my scar" boo hooo. I dont like his character. he can at least be nicer then he is

Artemus Fowl - A great main character, and hes the villain accept all the readers are on his side. (Artemus Fowl)

OMFG! I LOVE ARTEMIS!!!! he's the best. and i love his character. He's so evil but i love him. He is one of the best characters created all time.
Another really good character is Bartimaeus fromt he Bartimeaus trilogy. I LOVE HIM. he's really funny and he has good logic and he's sarcastic (i love sarcasm).
Harry just doesnt connect with me.
Leslie Grace - April 26, 2006 10:54 PM (GMT)
I have to agree. (B4 Artemis. lol) But I do like Artemus Fowl.
Squall Leonheart - April 27, 2006 06:41 AM (GMT)
Paige: "if you disagree with someone, prove yourself right"?
thing is, you cant prove yourself right, just as we can't. its a discussion, not a chance to try and win people over to your point of view.
Liret Baroqos - April 27, 2006 06:48 AM (GMT)
Tim would know...
Yes Artemus is so evil bt you find youself rooting for him and wanting him to destroy the faeries.
Squall Leonheart - April 27, 2006 07:02 AM (GMT)
what do you mean by that Adam?
Paige Robohn - April 27, 2006 06:59 PM (GMT)
I know I can't change your minds (although I'd like to) but that is what I do. that is how I have always lived my life. so I think your misjudging harry. Judging him very unfairly at least.
Squall Leonheart - April 27, 2006 07:27 PM (GMT)
again, the words you used were "i think". I think that we are being perfectly fair, as it is our beliefs that he's a useless pile of sh*t
Leslie Grace - April 28, 2006 12:19 AM (GMT)
You can't prove yourself right when you're discussing oppinions anyway.
Squall Leonheart - April 28, 2006 06:42 AM (GMT)
correct, its my oppinion, to you it may be wrong, to me its right.
Liret Baroqos - April 28, 2006 06:44 AM (GMT)
Yes, Harry is indeed a usless pile of s**t (LOL!)
Paige Robohn - April 28, 2006 06:47 PM (GMT)
You guys act so cruel and are definitely not funny. even if he is a character.
Kelly Adair - April 28, 2006 08:25 PM (GMT)
Not to be mean Paige, but you're acting a bit babyish.
(I'm not calling you one, only classifying your behavior)
