Title: A Way to Entertain Herself
Description: Mei

Jenna Wright - February 20, 2008 02:59 AM (GMT)
Jenna wandered the corridors aimlessly. It was still the bitter winter outside that she had grown accustomed to, but still didn't enjoy. She was ready for spring: flowers, sun, days outside. If anything, she was sick of being cooped up inside the castle, despite the vastness of it. She sighed, trying to think of ways to entertain herself. That was when she stopped and peered inside a classroom. It appeared as if it wasn't a used one. There were a few desks pushed up against the wall, but other than that the room was empty.

A smile began to form on Jenna's features as an idea formed in her mind. So it wasn't exactly the most excited idea in the world, but she needed practice, and the room of requirement was probably more practical. but the empty classroom would work just as well. Jenna was going to use the room as a place to practice her spells, charms, and hexes. It would be good practice and might even be helpful for future reference. Besides, she had spare time.

Jenna set to work, filling the room with things she needed. She found some pillows, which would have to do for now, at least until she could something better to use. For now she planned on just practicing the simple things, like Accio, until she got really good at them. She stood facing the pile of pillows that she'd collected and pointed her wand at them. "Accio pillow!" Jenna's voice filled the room. And as she had expected the pillow zoomed through the air, though it's path was wobbly and not as strong as it could've been. She kept on trying, the spell becoming a little bit stronger each time.

Mei Feng - February 22, 2008 10:00 PM (GMT)
Having spare time and being a teacher was never a good thing. She couldn't just up and leave for home since she was required to be here, to well teach. But her lessons were planned for the next two terms, unless the 'Headmaster' made her change them, and her classes were over for the day. So in an attempt to cure boredom Professor Mei Feng decided to take a wander around the castle.

She stared amused at the antics of some paintings down a rarely used corridor, her amber eyes sparkled with mirth but she refused to laugh alone; it was a pointless exercise. Perplexed she fiddled with the hem of her usual dress before taking a few more steps towards no where.

Mei paused as a female voiced spoke the summoning spell. She supposed it was a lesson of some sort, but then she could hear no others around. Curiosity got the better of her and she wandered towards the repeating voice, finally ending up in the door way of an empty class room. She watched the student, who she recognized as Jenna from one of her classes; choosing to lean in the door frame making her short height appear even shorter. She placed a polite smile on her face before speaking.

"You know if you say the spell firmer the path tends to be straighter...But I'm no charms teacher."

Jenna Wright - February 22, 2008 10:19 PM (GMT)
Jenna jumped, losing concentration immediately. A pillow that had only just been airborn plummetted to the ground. She looked over in the direction of the voice trying to hide the the surprise that Professor Feng had created. However, color seeped into Jenna's cheeks, turning them a rosy red. But despite that, the blonde girl managed a smile at the advice.

"Sorry," Jenna said, to excuse her startled state, "I hadn't realized that anyone was around, you made me jump. But thanks for the advice."

She looked at the pillow that was now and the ground and decided to try it just one more time, this time heeding the professors advice. Her voice was mre confident and firmer, and sure enough the pillow's path was much straighter and direct than it had previously been.

Jenna knew that Logan and Professor Feng were good friends, but she wondered if the professor knew of the relationship between her and Logan. It was a big possibility, that much she knew. She turned to the professor, the color in cheeks no longer as apparent, she was glad for her advice. "Thanks... I was just practicing some spells. With N.E.W.T.s and everything," She said, feeling a strange need to explain herself.

Fawne Sugarmoon - February 22, 2008 10:45 PM (GMT)
Mei hand a tingling feeling that she was missing something about Jenna, she knew the name other than form her classes. But with everything happening lately she couldn't place the thought. Inwardly sighing, although keeping her smile in place, she walked into the room.

"No, no. I'm sorry i always was nosey i didn't mean to startle you." Glancing around the room she noticed the practising items, and despite herself normally avoiding helping students outside of her own teaching area she rather wanted to help. Her smile went from polite to bright as her normal attitude and thought processes took over her teacher ones. "You know in my N.E.W.T years I'd have been using this room for causing trouble, I'm glad to see students have matured." She smiled to show it was not a bad thing before looking directly at Jenna, trying to place what she was missing.

"Jenna right?...You can call me Mei when im not in class, everything else makes me sound old, and I'm not old. yet." She giggled lightly to show her mirth before continuing. "I don't suppose i can help? You can be in charge of course, its your classroom" she grinned brightly, looking much more like a student than professor.

Jenna Wright - February 22, 2008 10:57 PM (GMT)
Jenna grinned at the fact that Professor Feng had been a trouble maker herself. It was hard, though, to imagine that she had ever been a student, especially a trouble maker. Students never really saw teachers past the teaching point, and the fact that they had lives outside of teaching was a rather overlooked fact. But Jenna was getting fairly good about seeing past the teacherly position.

"Well in so much of a troublemaking mood today." She admitted, though the idea seemed like a rather good one. Mischieve was always fun and she was kind of disappointed that it hadn't occured to her before. Maybe next time then... "And I wouldn't say that all the students have matured. If you don't mind my saying so, I never really saw you as the troublemaking sort."

Jenna nodded, "Yup, that's me." She said, surprised that Professor Feng remembered her name, it was more than she could say for some other teachers. She couldn't help but grin at the professors offer, having help could be really useful, and she could never give an offer like that up. "Thanks! I'd really appreciate that... And I'll try to remember that Prof..." She stopped to correct herself, "Mei, I mean." It would definitely taken some getting used to.

Mei Feng - February 26, 2008 12:48 AM (GMT)
Mei grinned in her usual bright manor, her asian features making her look even younger than her short height. Mei was the least imposing teacher in her own opinion because she looked so much like a student. Amber eyes looked thoughtful for a few moments before she stepped further into the room, a few steps away from Jenna now.

"Maturity is for when your over 90 pet." she winced at the muggle nick name she'd picked up from one of her students before continuing as if trying to ignore she'd said it. "Yuk, i hate to think people see me as boring and old. Merlin I'm not even 30!"

She paused in her tirade realising she backtracked a few moments and decided to ignore the old thread of conversation and carry on the recent one, now she'd vented her annoyance. She rolled up the long sleeves of her dress and withdrew her wand form its folds. Before quirking a eyebrow at Jenna.

"So what are your commands?..." She blinked and lazily glanced around the room before her mind seemed to snap onto a fact and she snapped her gaze back to Jenna.

"Please tell me you do other things besides practise for your N.E.W.Ts. I don't know somehting like a hobby or boyfriend. this cannot be the modern life of students surely."

Jenna Wright - February 26, 2008 03:58 AM (GMT)
Jenna smiled, she was already beginning to feel more comfortable with Mei. She didn't feel like a teacher, standing there nexdt to her. Instead, Jenna felt like she was talking to another student her age, which in itself made her feel much more at ease.

She couldn't help but laugh at Mei's statement, especially at the nickname 'pet,' "I can agree with that. Where's the fun in being boring? Life is too short for boring!" She laughed, forgetting, for at least the moment, that Mei was even a professor.

Professor Feng... Mei. Whatever it was that Jenna should call her seemd nice, she was approachable, which made the whole situation that much better. She was grateful for her help, and she had a feeling that it would be less lesson like, and more friends helping each other. She wondered though, if she had made the connection between her and Logan. That thought was constantly at the back of Jenna's mind. She worried too much.

"Umm... I have no idea. What do you suggest I work on? And no worries. I do have a boyfriend, friends, and other hobbies. I'm only practicing because I was bored, and there wasn't much else to do. It's better than studying in the library at any rate." Jenna told Mei, laughing at her previous statement. This whole situation was quite unlike Jenna, she'd never been much for practice of any sort.

Mei Feng - February 26, 2008 10:25 PM (GMT)
She glanced around the room looking at all the objects placed within it, trying to think of what spells to practise. If she remembered rightly she didn't practise for her N.E.W.T's. Tommy and Logan were too busy using her magic to help in pranks, not that she objected.

"Hum, this could be hard. I have no idea what you guys learn now. Except for mine and Logan's classes of course." she paused as if realising something before rolling her eyes at herself. "That would be Professor Corso to you, i think." She still couldn't shake the feeling she was missing something about Jenna, something nagging in the back of her mind that flared up even worse when she mentioned Logan.

In an attempt to distract herself she levitated the pillows around slightly, into a neater pile before latching on to a previous topic. She hated not remembering something it could bug her for days on end until she remembered it

"Boyfriend huh? Anyone i know, do i teach him i mean? What house? Of course i don't actually expect you to tell your 'old' professor but hey a girl likes her gossip." She stressed the world old in a playful manner .

Jenna Wright - February 26, 2008 10:43 PM (GMT)
Jenna frowned, trying to think, "My biggest problem area is Transfiguration. I get it. I just can't do it all that well." She explained, thinking of spells that she could practice. It felt strange to hear Mei correct herself and call Logan Professor. She was so used to calling him Logan by this point that Professor Corso sounded so foreign.

As the topic changed back to boyfriends Jenna felt a nervous twinge. She wondered if she should tell Mei about it. She figured that Logan had already told, and it was possibly just slipping her mind at the moment. But she would probably disapprove of the whole relationship. She tried to think of ways to dodge around the conversation without giving too much away.

Jenna, despite her nervousness, couldn't help but give a little smile. She hadn't had a chance to talk about going out with Logan at all since she'd been trying to keep it a secret, seeing as it could potentially cost him his job. "He doesn't really go here per say, He's, uh, already left Hogwarts..." She said trying to say as much as she could without completely giving everything away.

Mei Feng - February 26, 2008 10:57 PM (GMT)
She inwardly beamed when Jenna stated she needed to practise Transfiguration. That had been her minor subject where as CoMC as her major. She flicked her wand and the pillows spread out evenly across the floor. She was going to suggest they transfigure them into something.

She watched Jenna intently as she spoke about her boyfriend, eager to have someone to spend some girly gossip time with. After all her two best friends had been guys and she sometimes missed out on the girly comforts.

"Yuk long distance relationship? Must be harsh, unless he lives in hogsmeade not too far then." She paused as if something suddenly clicked in her mind, the only young man in Hogsmeade where they could get access to the school was Logan. That's where she'd heard the name before, Jenna was Logan's 'girlfriend'. She paused and bit her lips before pointing her wand sharply at the door and shutting it before placing all the privacy charms she could think of wordlessly on the room. The last think she wanted was this conversation going public.

Her tone was still bright, though slightly resigned like she was worried. "So how about we transifugre these pillows?..." she paused for only a moment before blurting out what was on her mind. " You know Logan quite well don't you?"

Jenna Wright - February 26, 2008 11:05 PM (GMT)
Jenna smiled, it seemed that Mei had a good background in Transfiguartion then. So this could be a rather good lesson, and she might even learn something new. She watched the pillows as they spread evenly across the floor.

She snapped back to Mei when she heard the door close, frowning slightly, and wondering why she had closed the door. Apparently something had clicked, and based on the door closing, Mei wasn't a big fan of the student-teacher relationship, apparently. Jenna bit her lip nervously.

Color seeped into Jenna's cheeks, out of pure reaction. She shrugged. "How'd you...." she stopped herself. Of couse Mei would. The two would good friends. She really should have just avoided the hole subject, thinking back on it. Of course it was too late to worry about that now.

"I wouldn't say I'm know him that well. But I do know him fairly well. Why does that matter?" Jenna asked innocently. She wondered where Mei was going with this. It seemed that a Transfiguration lesson was not what she was going to get after all.

Mei Feng - February 26, 2008 11:19 PM (GMT)
Mei paused and bit her lip; she knew Logan liked Jenna, al ot form what she gathered, so she was trying to be clam. Though inside her protective love for her best friend was flaring up. She was sorely tempted to back Jenna into a corner and threaten her till she swore not to hurt him. However, thankfully, Mei's good nature won out and she didn't want to make things awkward when Jenna had so far appeared so nice; not the tart she had been expecting.

Sighing she turned her rather worried yet stern eyes towards Jenna and gestured towards the door. "Not the type of conversation that needs to be over heard...Want to practise whilst we potentially yell at each other?" she cleared he throat and turned back to the pillows. Obviously she did not do the girl to girl talk very often.

"Alright lets be frank here. I know you both get on very well and you make him happy, this is fact. But i swear to Merlin if you hurt him in an way even azkaban will not keep you safe from me. Now the best friend threat is out of the way I'll state it doesn't matter as long as you don't hurt him...So care to tell me how?"

Jenna Wright - February 27, 2008 02:21 AM (GMT)
Jenna looked over at the door as Mei gestured to it. She had a good point. If the wrong person heard anything about her relationship for Logan, well that could be the start of many bad things. It looked like Jenna had no way out of this conversation. She looked back at Mei, smiling a little. She could see Mei's side of things, she was the protective best friend, just as Jenna was the protective big sister. It was a role she'd played many times.

Jenna nodded and looked at the pillows, "That's fine with me," The fact that Mei hadn't started yelling or anything of that sort was a good sign, at least that's what Jenna thought. She just hoped that Mei wouldn't try and convince her to stop seeing Logan, she wouldn't be able to do that.

Tearing her eyes away from the pillows, Jenna faced Mei. "I don't plan on hurting him. I really really like him, and I would never want to cause him any pain of any sort," she said in all honesty. Everything she said was true. She smiled though. Mei had said that she made him happy, hearing that completely lightened her mood. She blushed and averted her eyes, focusing on the pillows.

Mei Feng - March 9, 2008 04:47 PM (GMT)
Mei nodded her head numbly in response, she was a teacher and she would prove she had self restraint and that she didn't need to repeat her threats four times for them to be valid. They were the only thoughts that made any coherent sense in her head. The rest seemed to gravitate around the fact that Mei wanted Logan to be happy and she really did. But Jenna, as nice as she seemed, was only 17. That's a big age gap, 10 years give or take and she couldn't understand what they would possibly have in common. After all the older Logan got the more likely it is he would want to settle down, probably during the years that Jenna was beginning to spread her wings. She just hoped neither of them would get hurt in the long run.

She paused and flicked her wand absently at the pillow transforming it into a goblet and back, a very simple transfiguration spell but it served in the fact it brought her time to think. She stop her incantation and turned to Jenna, a very serious look in her usually mischievous eyes.

"So then do you see this, relationship, as long term?" she almost stumbled over the words relationship, as if she wasn't quite sure that she should call it that, but in the end she didn't and merely emphasised it by accident.

Jenna Wright - March 9, 2008 06:43 PM (GMT)
Jenna bit her lip and watched the pillows as Mei cast spells on them. She knew that Mei wouldn't approve of her relationship, well not many would. The age gap was one thing, and then the fact that was he was a professor was another. It made things difficult, which was part of the reason that Jenna hadn't told a soul about it. But for some reason Jenna felt the desperate to tell someone, and have the approval from someone. She didn't care that no one approved. but all the same, she wished that someone would.

Mei's question caught Jenna off guard. She hadn't really even thought about it all. So she shrugged as she turned to face her. "I don't know... I hadn't really thought about that. I want it to last. But I honestly can't say that I see it going in either direction.... I think I'd like it to be long term..."

Jenna frowned. She hadn't been going out with Logan for that long. She hadn't really thought of of the possibilites of the relationship. For now she was just enjoying. But the truth of the matter was that she really did want it last, however unlikely that seemed.

Mei Feng - March 19, 2008 10:54 PM (GMT)
OOC: so sorry, damn school kept me busy T.T

IC:

Mei nodded her head agreeing to Jenna's comment about not really thinking about it. She felt like she was being to harsh on Jenna. After all she seemed like a nice girl and when Mei was her age she flitted form boyfriend to boyfriend almost weekly. So perhaps she shouldn't judge.

The niggling thought the back of her mind did point out she just didn't want Logan to be hurt, nor did she want to be forgotten for the girlfriend. Sighing Mei straightening her hair almost subconsciously and plastered a smile onto her face. Being snappy with a 17 year old was not the right way to g about this. Plastering a smile onto her face she began to transform the pillows into more complicated objects; warming up her transfiguration skills.

"That's understandable, i didn't really think about such things when i was young...er. Younger, I'm not old." Her tone was light and the joke was made to lighten the air, which to her felt like a dead weight.

"So want to tell me some of Logan's bad habits, or so i tell you?" She giggled and hoped this change in conversation line would mean a more girly chat.

Jenna Wright - March 19, 2008 11:05 PM (GMT)
Jenna felt herself r\elax, at least a little, her muscles loosing her previous tension as she came to realize that Mei was not going to yell at her or convince her to break up with Logan. It seemed, at least for now anyways, that the conversation was taking a turn. She could almost feel it as the tension seemed to lift out of the air as Mei cracked a little joke. She was trying, and that really meant something to Jenna. So maybe she didn't approve of the relationship, but at least she wasn't arguing against it.

Jenna smiled, "I don't think you're old. Honest. I mean, if you were old then I'd have to think of Logan as old. And well.... That's just a bit weird." Her words were in ernest, and rang truth in them. Mei was older, yes, but not old.

Half the time Jenna felt older than her young seventeen years. She supposed that by having to grow up faster in order to be the 'big sister' played some part in that. She was young at heart, but her actions were more mature than many her age. She was leaving Hogwarts this year, just a couple of months really and then she really would be considered an adult.

She couldn't help but laugh at Mei's offer. "I bet you have all the juicy details on him. Spill." She grinned, forgetting about the pillows and ejoying the girly talk that she hadn't been able to have in such a long time.

OOC: don't worry about it :] school sucks anyways.

Mei Feng - March 21, 2008 08:24 PM (GMT)
Mei grinned at Jenna's sincerity, she was happy her and Jenna could find some common ground. Though it was still a rather strange situation. Maybe it could be over looked for now. Still grinning she plopped down on pillow, not worried about hurting herself since after all she was only 5 foot 2. She stretched and lent back collapsing on more pillows before talking to the ceiling. Obviously choosing to completely drop the teacher presence she had been trying to create.

"Neither me nor Logan are old enough to be cranky old Bas- Er gits. Yet" laughing she internally added a list of names as examples of cranky old gits but she didn't think it would be professional to voice them. With a pause she dragged herself back to the present topic, switching her gaze form the ceiling to Jenna.

"No need to ask twice Jen...Can i call you Jen? ..." she was purposefully stalling now, dragging out the dirt. Like every good gossip does. "Well if he tries to give you the pretence of being clean hes lying. His flat looks like the washing machine mutated and vomited all over the place and that's on a good day. He's a a light weight when it comes to drinking" That was a over exaggeration on her part but most gossip was "Oh and don't forget he can be an over emotional Jackass. But i guess we love him for that trait" she laughed to show nothing was malice filled, but her tone of voice suggested that anyway...

Jenna Wright - March 27, 2008 03:06 AM (GMT)
Jenne followed suit, she too lay back on the pillows, staring at the ceiling rather that Mei. At the moment she was beginning to feel like she was talking to someone in her own year, which made her more comfortable with the subject. She felt like the student/teacher relationship was disappearing, which no londer bothered her as it would have.

Jenna laughed, "I'm glad to hear that.... You don't have to screen your language, I've heard it all and said them all." Her tone of voice was light and nonchalant, but she was serious. Mei might be older than her, but she didn't see why Mei had decided to change her words. It didn't really bother Jenna all that much, it was just one od those little things.

Jenna nodded, "Jen's fine." She laughed at the dirt that Mei had on Logan. For the most part she really hadn't noticed any of the traits that she mentioned. But love is blind right? "He mentioned that his flat was a complete warzone once. I don't think I took it seriously, it can't be that bad can it?" She asked, looking over at her companion. "Any other good gossip? i have to know all the details" Despite everything, Jenna felt like a little kid at a sleepover and all the girls were trying to come up with juicy facts on a silly crush or something. She was actually enjoying herself and already forgetting the previous confrontation.
