Title: CoMC - Outdoor Lesson 1

Mei Feng - May 6, 2008 10:53 PM (GMT)
Since it was after all beginning to get warm, she as professor of CoMC had decided to move the class outside. Altering them all via owl mail in the previous days. She was currently waiting by the edge of the Forrest for her class to arrive, the sun already beating down despite the morning chill.

The heat showed in the very fact even Mei had removed some layers from her clothing, she would even be permitting students to do the same. After all she couldn't expect them to work with creatures whilst all sweaty and agitated. She just hoped no one would get bitten today, she was tired of filling out the forms.

She impatiently glanced at her watch, she wanted the lesson to start already. This was the type of teaching she preferred; outside in a creatures natural habitat if she could, without the use of heavy tomes and quills. A lesson all about hands on experience, this was going to be fun...

Valentina Greysoul - May 19, 2008 06:03 PM (GMT)
Valentina was already making her way down the fields with one of her Slytherin friends, Amanda Dwey, who was passing gossip.

Valentina head straight down the fields. She was so looking forewards for this lesson that she forgot to listen to Amanda, who would obviously be irritated by such a thing.

she was enjoying such a fresh breath of air, hearing the soft crunching of the half frozen grass beneath her feet, and hearing her necklace's soft twinkling sound.

finally, they reached the camp. A tall, beautiful teacher was waiting for them.

"goodmorning!" she greated the lady.

Muchia Dawson - May 19, 2008 09:09 PM (GMT)
*Muchia walked down to the edge of the forest. He was actualy almost excited for this lesson. He had a feeling they were going to be doing something interesting. As he approached the forests edge he could only see 2 people standing there and one of them was obviously the teacher.

Wow he thought to himself. Second to class, thats got to be a first. As he drew nearer he started to look for some manner of creature but saw nothing. they must be farther in he thought to himself and he kept walking. *

Muchia: good morning to you both *he said once he got within earshot*

Nana Dirks'n - May 20, 2008 11:56 PM (GMT)
Nana walked happily towards her COMC lesson. This had always been one of her favorite classes especially when it was outside and they could work with the creatures. As she neared the forest she noticed it felt oddly quieter than it had before. The forest had a looming and a bit of a scary effect on the world around it. Nana walked closer and she only saw three people. ON the the people was oddly familiar looking, perhaps because he was a Hufflepuff too. She walked over to the other students and said cheerily,
"Good Morning."

Valentina Greysoul - May 21, 2008 06:42 PM (GMT)
Valentina waved to the boy, Muchia, who had a very excited expression on his face.

“hi!” she said, “how are you? You’re looking happy today!” sha said with a wide smile, sharing his same excitement.

Than another girl joint in. it was Nana Dirks'n, her Hufflepuff friend. She ran up to her happily, leaving Amanda behind.

“Nana! Goodmorning!” she greeted her friend, giving her a quick hug, even if knowing that Nana didn’t exacly like Slytherins.

That thought made her remember something she knew, so she took a few steps back. She didn’t mean to be offensive, and that gesture wasn’t offensive, but her father had told her something about the
Salazar Slytherin subject.

She looked back at her teacher, who was obviously waiting for the rest of the class.

Jesse Ballway - May 21, 2008 09:16 PM (GMT)
Jesse strolled up to his C.O.M.C. class where a few students were talking amongst themselves and the teacher stood waiting. He saw his fellow Hufflepuffs and threw a nod accompanied by a smile.

Jesse stood by himself waiting for the class to start. Soon enough, he was lost in thought with a blank stare directed into the deep forest. * So much can be takin in from this place. I MUST come back here without so many spectators.* he thought to himself.

He snapped out of his gaze and headed toward Professor Feng.

"Can we just forget about the late comers and get going already? Standing around here looking at eachother is growing quite old."

Noticing he was being rather rude, Jesse hoped to gain a little friendly backing and said loudly, "I'm sure the rest of the class is really anxious to see what amazing creature lies in store for us."

Muchia Dawson - May 22, 2008 12:32 AM (GMT)
Valentna: You’re looking happy today!

Muchia: ya ive been looking forward to this class all day.

*Muchia looked behind him and saw Nana, A fellow HufflePuff walking in their Direction*

Nana: Good Morning.

Muchia: g'morning

*then another boy came over. He nodded to them and Muchia nodded back Their was a little bit of a pause when noone spoke.

Jesse: Can we just forget about the late comers and get going already? Standing around here looking at eachother is growing quite old.

*that was quite rude. muchia thought to himself. but still he is right, in a way. After all class should have started a few minutes ago.*

Jesse: I'm sure the rest of the class is really anxious to see what amazing creature lies in store for us.

*now thats a little presumtious Muchia thought. He dabated for a moment or two whether or not to agree with the boy and in the end decided that there was no real reson not to.*

Muchia: Yes please lets get started.

Jesse Ballway - May 22, 2008 03:45 AM (GMT)
Jesse backed down from the teacher.

"Thanks man." he said to his fellow hufflepuff sincerely.

He then tried to blend himself into the rest of the students and continued to wait.

*I'm such an idiot*

Mei Feng - May 22, 2008 04:18 PM (GMT)
Mei had noticed the arrival of a few students, but still waiting for some more she had decided to let them chatter amongst themselves. After all she used to be the same, it was better to let them talk now then later when she was teaching. Taking a last glance at her watch she sighed and pushed a strand of hair from her face. Finally acknowledging her class and the few students that were just joining the back of the group.

"Alright i suppose the rest are late, i guess its their loss...." Taking a step to the side she gestured for the glass to follow a small path that lead to just inside the forest to a small clearing.

"We'll be working in the clearing just ahead! But remember don't go off the path. I'm not taking more students to the hospital wing." Her voice was brighter than before, and more like her usual bright tones, like she was cheering up despite the fact some of her class were missing. She motioned with her arms for the class to start moving towards the clearing.

"Okay lets move, we haven't got all day kids. And don't step on any brambles...Right as we move i want to know what you know about Augureys or the Irish Phoenix..."

Fawne Sugarmoon - May 22, 2008 06:22 PM (GMT)
Fawne had been one of the few joining the back of the group as Professor Meng instructed the class to move. She hadn't meant to e late but time had caught up with her and in the end she had run down to the lesson. Which would perhaps explain why she looked flushed, though she was still managing to maintain her wistful outward appearance. She heard the question alright, and she did know a little about Augureys but she choose not to answer this time and merely followed the instructions and walked down the little path towards the clearing, notebook clutched in her hand and her eyes vaguely trained on the floor looking out for brambles.

---------------------------------------------

Craven was not so unnoticeable late, he slipped into the back of the group without announcing his arrival. A skill he'd perfected from years of being a loner. Thankfully it wasn't hard for this slytherin to slip into the group. He didn't even look flustered at being late, in fact he was late on purpose; he was hoping to miss the group entirely and so skip the lesson. Any time he had to spend in the same lesson as his sister was bad enough, speaking of said sister he did nothing but glare at her back as she walked down the path to the clearing, he himself choosing to follow behind a ravenclaw girl in hopes of putting distance between him and Fawne.

---------------------------------------------

Guinevere Kibben, better known as Guinn was unfortunately the ravenclaw stuck walking between the blissfully unaware girl and the glaring slytherin. She often wondered why people had to drag issues into the class, but one look at the boys uniform clarified it. Sytherins had always hated Gryfindors right? WIthout further thought on the matter Guinn, being a 7th year and someone who prised herself on her creature knowledge, announced a reply over her shoulder to the teacher. Choosing to ignore the social events going on around her.

"They live in bramble nests Miss."

Rebecca Emery - May 22, 2008 08:53 PM (GMT)
Rebecca ran, more like flew, down the hillside that lead toward Care of Magical Creatures class. She was late and of all classes she had to be late to was the one class that would be moving around and not staying in one place. Part of Rebecca was frustrated at herself for stopping and speaking with one of her friends while the other half of her was worried she wouldn't catch the group in time. I'll be searching the whole bloody area for ever looking for them, she thought irritably.

Once she finally made it to the bottom of the hill Rebecca practically jumped over a small bank almost hurting herself along the way. She cursed herself and her friend for making her late. As the wind blew her hair all over the place she let out an irritated sigh as she moved it away from her eyes which in turn let her instantly see the group that was making it's way into the forest. Running to catch up she let her pace slow to a walk as she fixed herself up.

Brushing a hand through her hair she pulled it behind her ears trying to tame the frizz that had been caused from the run. Sighing to herself she knew it was a lost cause because of her flushed cheeks. So walking along she mumbled to herself as she dug into her bag. Though her task was soon interrupted as looked up and stopped abruptly. She'd practically ran into the boy ahead of her.

"My gosh I'm so sorry," Rebecca said her voice quiet as she didn't want to catch the teacher's attention. Walking around the boy she glanced at him her blue eyes apologetic. "I feel like such a prat. I hope you'll forgive me...." Trailing off at that she watched waiting to see what the boy would say. Turning to glance at the teacher every few seconds.

Craven Blackwood - May 22, 2008 09:35 PM (GMT)
Craven manged, only just, to keep a careful apathetic look on his face as a small weight virtually ran into the back of him. Despite the slytherin uniform and its reputation he kept his cool and didn't yell at the girl which turned out to be the small weight. Mostly since she was spewing appollogies left right and center and he didn't feel like yelling right now. He realised eventually that looking interestedly at the her would get her to shut up so instead he decided to finally open his mouth and talk, whilst still walking down the path of course.

"You barely hit me so were good. This time." His voice was deep and rough, like it was barely used. Which was slightly true, the only words that came from his mouth were often arrogant or sarcastic. He was full of himself and preferred to keep to himself. The perfect mix for a pure blood slytherin boy.

Mismatched eyes, one of hazel on of green, glanced at her over his shoulder. Finally paying her some human acknowledgement rather than just a vague arrogant reply. It seemed as if he was attempting to pass the time with conversation.

"She wont state your late, she'll just get you doing some rubbish during her lessons as punishment. Likes to strike when your not paying attention, this one." he was obviously referring to the professor.

Rebecca Emery - May 22, 2008 10:10 PM (GMT)
As Rebecca waited for the boy to acknowledge her reply she took in his appearance. The first thought that hit her mind was 'oh no' because of his Slytherin uniform. Though realizing she was once again judging someone she thought no more on his house and only on how he acted. After all actions and words were always good to help make an opinion of someone. Better than a house reputation.

When she did hear his reply, given with a deep yet rough voice, Rebecca couldn't help the small sigh of relief that left her lips. She was glad he didn't take the time to yell and complain about her clumsiness. If he had it would have attracted the attention of the professor not only but a few feet ahead of them and right then that was what Rebecca wanted the least. Even so the comment of this time that he threw towards her was to her meant as a warning. One that she would take without argument.

"Thanks. It won't happen again. I'll be sure it won't," Rebecca told him with a slight nod his way as she noticed his eyes stray to her. Taking in their color she bit her lip to keep from smiling. They were obviously different, but not in a bad way. At that thought she glanced away not wanting to be caught staring. As they continued along the path Rebecca was slightly surprised that he had spoken to her. Blue eyes looking over at him she smiled a little.

"Well I do have to admit that’s better than writing up a paper or having a detention," she told him shrugging slightly as she suddenly extended her arm out to him in greeting. "My name's Rebecca," she told him knowing his reaction to her introduction could go only two ways.

April Teagan - May 22, 2008 10:31 PM (GMT)
April dashed down the grounds towards Care of Magical Creatures. She was very late, she realized. Well, she had wanted to look half decent, of course. She managed to get down there without the teacher noticing. She put her bag and books on the ground and went to stand in the group, waiting for further instruction.

Then she noticed the group was moving forward, down a path. She hurried to keep up, trying to catch a bit of the teacher's conversation. She didn't see ayone she really knew, except... yes. Rebecca. Talking to a ... Slytherin boy, she recognized. She skipped up to her, but didn't want to be rude.

"I don't mean to cut in," she saids to the boy, and then turned to Rebecca. "But, did I miss anything? I'm terribly late."

Craven Blackwood - May 26, 2008 09:03 PM (GMT)
Craven smirked at her comment about detentions, that much was true. If Feng ever gave you a detention it was a pretty one, you were best just to do the rubbish tasks in class. Which is why he intended not to be noted as late ever again. He wasn't a lazy boy just a clever one.

"Very true, shes doesn't get you writing papers; Feng prefers practical detentions and lots of dirt."

His smirk turned into more of a polite, yet formal, smile at her name. It was almost as if he was giving her a little more respect because she appoligised. Which was probably true, he wasn't alone by choice but more by reputation.

"Well Rebbecca, I'm Craven. Its been nice bumping into you so far."

He pondered for a moment on playing on his formal side, perhaps bowing to a lady, Rebbecca; maybe he could reinvent himself a little this year before the summer? He didn't get to think on it long before another person appeared late. This time it was a Slytherin girl he recognized form is own house, it was this fact that kept him fro rolling his eyes at her interruption.

"No, no, its fine everyone seems to enjoy cutting in this year." His comment was rough and sarcastic but held a tint of amusement to it, t obviously held a little malice but not enough to be purposefully mean.

"And to my knowledge you missed very little, but perhaps we were both late too?"

Mei Feng - May 26, 2008 09:19 PM (GMT)
Mei smiled at Guinn, who she'd found to be a well of knowledge of CoMC, the girl was obssessed with muggle and magic animals alike. She continued with a fast pace, hoping to reach the clearing quite quickly since the class were starting to ramble once more, and she had only one response to her question. With a smile at Guinn she spoke once more, her bright tones still carefully in place but a bit of a fiery look in her eyes.

"Thank you Guinn, That's correct. Augurey's do live in brambles, they are considered to be the 'water phoenix' as there cries are known to predict rain. Has anyone been in contact with an Augurey before?"

With a few more steps Mei had reached the clearing she inteded to teach in. Around the clearing there were several stumps and rocks all magically fashion to represent seats, she'd obviously taught her before. The area was bright and in the middle of the clearing there was a mass of bramble, probably nest or two of Augureys. Which Mei was now stood next too.

With a glance back to her class she notice tree students having a conversation, the rest weren't silent either, dispite the fact she allowed them to chatter a little she expected reposes to her questions. Deciding to address the class a whole she spoke in same bright tone as always however her voice was laced with a little warning as she spoke.

"Okay i know i let you chatter on the way down but i need your full attention now or things will get messy, this is a practical class after all."

April Teagan - May 26, 2008 09:29 PM (GMT)
April turned to the boy she had been walking with and smiled slightly, knowing his comment had been sarcastic. April herself also happened to be very sarcastic. She smirked and listened to the Professor as she reprimanded everyone for talking.

She shut up quickly, but kept stride with the un named boy and Rebecca, not wanting to miss anything now. She would need to pass this course if she had any chance of not being skinned alive when she returned home.

Rebecca Emery - May 26, 2008 10:03 PM (GMT)
Rebecca smiled at the boy’s comment on the Professor. She knew she would prefer lots of dirt than anything else any day. After all she’d never had a detention and wasn’t quite ready to receive one and writing papers on how being tardy was unacceptable and such was very repetitive and agitating. Sighing quietly at her thoughts she turned back to watch as Craven, which she now knew him by, give her a smile. Surprised, but not showing it her own smile widened brightening her face.

“The same goes for me Craven. It’s been a pleasure so far,” she announced her voice filled with amusement as she turned toward the teacher who was now congratulating the Ravenclaw girl in front of them for giving a correct answer. Her listening though was soon interrupted by a voice, one she was familiar with. Turning to watch April she flashed the Slytherin a girl a friendly smile.

“As Craven said you missed nothing to important as far as I know. Which is of course good,” Saying this Rebecca nodded just in time to hear the Professor begin to speak. With one glance to both Crave and April she turned toward the teacher her blue eyes intent.

Robyn Singe - May 26, 2008 11:17 PM (GMT)
Robyn wanted to scream. If she was late one more time she'd die. She knew her father was going to kill her, and she also realized that the class had gone off. She hunted for where they were and spotting them, she ran down. Robyn ended up standing next to Jesse, someone she had met earlier.
"Hello Jesse." She said simply as she caught her breath. Robyn decided to listen to the teacher, for once.

Anabelle Anderson - May 27, 2008 03:05 PM (GMT)
Ana ran as fast as she coud to catch up to the other students.

When she approached them, she quickly quieted, but leaned against a tree to catch her breath. CoMC was never really her thing, but she wanted to still try her hardest because it was important.

She stayed quiet as she caught her breathing and waiting for instruction from the professor.

Jesse Ballway - May 28, 2008 01:51 AM (GMT)
" Hey Robyn " Jesse replied.

"Try to fit in real quick and be quiet, the teachers gettin a little annoyed with us." he said to Robyn.

Mei Feng - June 7, 2008 08:50 PM (GMT)
Mei looked around the class, waiting for the response that never seem to come. Apparently nobody had seen an Augurey before, she sighed inwardly this was going to be a long class. With a small calming smile she waited shortly for the rest of the chatter to end before she began her lesson properly.

"Alright then since no ones seen an Augurey before i want you to split into grounds of three and for each group to go to one of the bramble nests that have been charmed red. Now don't worry Augreys don't fly when its not raining so each nest will be full."

She herself moved over to the middle nest in the clearing, pulling a pair of dragonhide gloves from her pockets and pulling them up her arms, all the way to her elbows. hoping this action gave her class enough time to move into the right positions she continued with her instructions.

"Now you shouldn't need your gloves today since i don't want you man handling these Augureys, they might be mostly tame but they can still nip. Once i show you the head Augurey i want you to carefully move your brambles and reveal the Augurey in your nest. Then you can sketch it, does everyone understand?..."

Guinevere Kibben - June 7, 2008 08:59 PM (GMT)
Guinn had been one of the few not talking, not becuase she didn't want to but mostly becuase she loved this lesson far to much to not pay attention. She wanted to follow in similar footsteps to the teachers a work with magical creatures after her final year. Maybe she'd even be able to work here with magical creatures. Now that she'd enjoy; the forest was full of life.

She was snapped to attention by the instructions being given by Mei. She didn't wait to find two people but headed over to her nearest red bramble bush and hoped two people would follow. It was in her nature just to do as she please, tom boy at heart and all that. If no one followed she guessed she'd work on her own.

Guinn knelt down near the bush, Quickly grabbing some parchment and a quill from her bag, ready to sketch once the Augurey was revealed. And nodding to the teacher in assent that s understood.

Craven Blackwood - June 7, 2008 09:08 PM (GMT)
Craven was a little annoyed at being scolded but he was happy that it was just a general warning, at least he wouldn't get detention yet. This teachers detentions were always manual and horrible, not something he liked. Not wanting to risk further trouble he kept his mouth firmly shut but flashed Rebecca and then April a smirk like grin in return to show the conversation wasn't done yet.

With a small inaudible sigh and a nod of understanding he followed the professors instructions; moving towards a charmed red bramble bush, he choose the one nearest the edge of the clearing hopefully this would mean he could talk to who ever he was working with. With his mismatched eyes he looked back over towards the group whilst finding some parchment and a quill ready to draw the stupid phoenix bird they were studying today.

When he'd found all he needed to he turned his gaze back to the group and gestured for Rebecca, the girl he'd been talking to on the way down to the lesson to follow him and join his group. Of course she was quite welcome to bring April along too.

Fawne Sugarmoon - June 7, 2008 09:16 PM (GMT)
Fawne hadn't really been paying a great deal of attention to the lesson at hand, every time she went into the forest memories of past adventures and mishaps flooded her mind and stole her attention. it took her a full moment to realise the class had been told to stop talking. It took her a moment more for the teachers instructions to sink in. Without thinking about it she gravitated to her normal CoMC partner; Guinn.

With a few silent steps she was next to the same red nest Guinn was a half smile of greeting on her face but no words spoken since after all they'd been told not to talk. With minimal noise she found her note book and a quill ready to draw what she had too, though she did transfer her gloves to her pocket. Just to be on the safe side. Her misty unfocused eyes turned in the vague direction of the teacher as she waited for further instruction...

Rebecca Emery - June 7, 2008 09:29 PM (GMT)
Listening to the professor Rebecca took in her annoyed appearance and couldn’t help but assume that it was because of the cluelessness from all the students. Nevertheless she frowned slightly. Not everyone was aquatinted with animals like she was. Most students dropped this class after the year they needed to take it. Shaking her thoughts away Rebecca took a hold of her bag and glanced around her noticing April was the only one near her. Frowning slightly at this her blue eyes wandered around finally noticing Craven who was smirking at both April and her and gesturing her over.

“April care to join us?” Rebecca asked flashing the girl a smile to let her know it was okay if she didn’t want to come, but if she did she was welcome to. Without waiting for an answer, knowing April would follow if she wanted to, Rebecca made her way over to Craven and took a seat next to the nest he’d chosen. Sitting cross legged she pulled her bag into her lap and began to retrieve what she needed for the task of drawing. During her task she couldn’t help but frown knowing she wasn’t a good drawer at all.

Mei Feng - June 11, 2008 12:26 AM (GMT)
Satisfied the group had split up to a nest approprietly, or were on their way to getting there, she continued with the lesson. A smile was on her face now since this was he bit she enjoyed most, actually giving the class hands on experience with magical creatures. It was easy to see, with the smile, what type of person Mei was outside fo class. Which would perhaps explain why she didn't give out dententions very often; she was too busy having fun.

When she next spoke her bright voice was tinted with excitement like she waiting for the classes responses to the Augurey's.

"Remember now, they can nip so don't touch. When i call out the head Augurey the rest will respond to his call and exit the nest. They're friendly enough but still wild so, no fingers and no feeding. All i want you to do at this moment is sketch the Augurey and label anything you think is important, then we'll discuss the Augurey"

Well discuss was another term for 'I'll teach and you respond' but she always liked to make CoMC as practical as she could. Without further ado she whistled loudly and bet down next to the bramble nest she was stood at. Within moments the greenish-black rain Phoenix exited its nest. Looking around curiously for the noise, when spotting Mei, who it associated with a food giver it cawed loudly causing the other nests occupants to move. Without waiting for them to exit the Augurey clambered onto Mei's gloved arm and she was careful to keep its height close to the floor since they only flew during rain...

Mei Feng - June 18, 2008 12:19 AM (GMT)
She noticed the lack of the student response and sighed, though a grin was on her lips. She knew it was last day before summer term and she couldn't really expect them to pay proper attention. She reached her hand into her pocket and pulled out a collection of seeds and dried fish throwing them onto the floor and watching as the Augureys ran to eat them, the one perched on her arm jumping own to join the masses.

"Alright class i can see you minds are else where, like the summer. So go on be gone with you. Though i do want you to be prepared for the first lesson of next year..." she paused and laughed brightly, she didn't really expect any of them to read the book. Who did? "oh and don't mention this to anyway, earlier lessons ends aren't usually normal...See you around class..."
