Title: Getting comfortable

Yuniesky Valdez - May 12, 2008 10:16 PM (GMT)
Yuni looked around at the drab office that encircled him. It was a sanctuary to pureblood, classist ideals. Valdez looked stoically at the room before him. Harshing had legacy, that was for certain. He was evil, though, and that could never happen to Yuni. He gently removed the various wall hangings which gave homage to Harshing, until the walls were bare. He placed the items in a box.

He carried in a box of his own. He took several pictures out of the box. One of his daughter, who remained with his wife at his summer home in Spain. Like himself, his wife was from Cuba, her native tongue was Spanish. So too, would his daughter learn Spanish and be proud of her Cubana roots. He placed a copy of Goodnight Moon, in a drawer in his desk. It was his daughters favorite book.

At the bottom of his box were several prints. He decided to hang wall art, rather than his various degrees and ministry accolades. He hung Starry Night, Three Musicians, and finally a picture of Che Guevara, right behind his head. He hoped that his ideals would not become corrupt such as the revolutionary ones of Che.

He sat at his desk, looking at the room he had prepared. It was beautiful. His office was much more inviting than that of the Headmaster who preceded him. That was going to be his goal. Control the students by being inviting. He would catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

He heard three knocks at his door. He assumed that it must be someone from the school... He had sent notices to the teachers that if they desired to keep their jobs, they must reinterview. This was simply to weed out those who supported the ideals of Coldstone Harshing.

An owl dropped a letter through the window, there was no envelope.

Dear Headmaster,

I am sure you are very, very qualified for the job. However I am also sure than the Ministry have dragged you fresh out of another job in the hope you will adhere to that trivial annoyance which we call "Human Rights."

Please do not be under the misconception that children will simply agree with you if you give them respect, nor do not expect any kindness in return for your hardships.

(the rest is unreadable)

Yours,

Colldston Hashig

Yuni looked over the letter. Could it really be Harshing in hiding? He would have liked to believe that the ministry really did as he was supposed to... He guessed they didn't however. He wanted to find out where the owl was from. He sent one of the several owls from office to follow it, giving it the instruction to bring something back that would tell him where it was from. He waited several minutes, and his owl finally came back with a piece of rock he recognized as being from the Old Colosseum, one of Harshing's suspected haunts. Yuni decided to investigate. He tossed some floo powder into the chimney and left campus for his own house. From there he apparated to outside the Colosseum.
