Title: Fly Away
Description: Open

Eliana Maurson - May 15, 2008 03:01 AM (GMT)
Eliana let a ghost of smile grace her face as the sun started to set. Earlier today she had come outside near the lake to get some reading done, while stretching she noticed how beautiful the sky looked just at that moment with it colors splayed across horizon and the colors splashing on top of the lake like her mother's many desktop's wallpapers. Deciding that she had done enough reading for a while she took off her glasses and closed her eyes as her hair whipped around her face pleasantly.

Eliana couldn't help but take in a big breath. After that big row with her mum in her letters she was fuming. She couldn- Eliana immediately cut her thoughts off. She didn't want to think about that conversation right now. While re-adjusting her skirt her hand fell upon a rock. She looked from the rock to water and decided to give skipping rocks another try. She always loved it when she was younger and her older brother would do it but no matter how hard she tried to do it she couldn't. This definitely did not make this Ravenclaw happy.

Anyone going by would surely see the difficulty she was having seeing how she was trying every hand motion in the book to get that damn rock to skip. Eliana was so immersed at the task at hand that she didn't even notice how it had slowly started raining, though just a drizzle.

April Teagan - May 15, 2008 06:54 PM (GMT)
April was making her way across the grounds, towards the quiet serene calm of the lake, when it started to rain.

"Great..." she muttered, and cursed softly. She drew her cloak around her hurriedly, though the wind was blowing the edges around of the cloak at awkward angles. She scowled against the wind and hurried more towards her destination, not going to allow the rain to damper her mood.

She was close to the lake when she first saw the girl at the edg.e The girl, a Ravenclaw, it seemed, was skipping- well attempting- rocks. April laughed at the pathetic attempts and skipped closer.

She herself picked up a rock, still several feet behind the girl, and angled it perfectly towards the water. Then, she flicked it and sent it skimming across the top of the black, cold water.

1...2...3...5...6 skips. It fell pleasantly into the murky depths. There were ripples in the water, left from her stone skipping expertise. She grinned to herself and turned to the girl who was now standing beside her.

"Having trouble?" she asked, a hint of humor in her voice.

Eliana Maurson - May 15, 2008 07:46 PM (GMT)
Eliana was biting her lip in concentration, still trying her best to get that rock to skip. She was down to her last rock when she noticed a rock perfectly skipping across the water.

"Having trouble?"

At this Eliana looked at the last rock in her hand like a child would look at a broken toy. "Honestly it can't be that hard." she mumbled before just throwing the rock into the water a bit disappointed. After watching the water sink depressing into the water Eliana turned to find herself looking at a 6th year Slytherin. She tried to think if she ever had a class with her but Eliana usually was always too immersed in what the teacher was saying in the front row to notice. Not to mention she wasn't part of the best social circles since she always had her nose in a book. "My name is Eliana" she said extending her hand hoping these were one of the nice Slytherins she heard about.

April Teagan - May 15, 2008 09:46 PM (GMT)
April eyed the girl curiously, and her out stretched hand. People at this school were so formal sometimes. She chuckled.

"Eliana... interesting name. Nice to meet you. I'm April."

She took the girl's hand and shook it quickly, then glanced down at the mound of rocks at her feet. She kicked a few until she found another flat one, and picked it up. She showed the girl quickly.

"Flat ones work best." Then, she skipped ir gracefully across the lake once again, 5 perfectly spaced skips. It sunk again to the bottom, and she looked back at Eliana.

"See. It's not too hard. Try again."

April picked up another smooth, flat rock and handed it over to Elaina, smiling. She watched for her reaction silently.

Eliana Maurson - May 15, 2008 10:01 PM (GMT)
Sighing inwardly that this girl was indeed one of the nicer of the slyterin lot she smiled and shook the girls hand. "Nice to meet you too April." she said with a smile on her face.

She watched curiously as the girl shuffled through some rocks before finding a flat one that seemed to be what she was looking for before skipping it, it too skipped nicely in the water.

For a moment Eliana thought the girl was just taking some pleasure in showing off something Eliana wasn't capable of, at which Eliana scowled she realized the girl was trying to show her how to skip the rock. Though she was the type who rarely asked for help she couldn't help but smile and ruffle through a couple of rocks before finding one that was flat like the one April used.

She held it in her hand and tried to position it like the way April had done and let it go not expecting much. Mu to her surprise the rock skipped twice, though it wasn't up to April's level it was certainly improvement. She turned to April with a bright smile, "Thanks." she said as if she had just gotten a new book for christmas.

"So the castle got stuffy for you too hunh?" she said as she ruffled through some more rocks.

April Teagan - May 15, 2008 10:08 PM (GMT)
April watched Eliana's decent attempt at skipping the rock curiously. She laughed when it made two skips and died in the water, but it was indeed an improvement from before.

"So the castle got stuffy for you too hunh?" Eliana directed towards her, and April nodded, skipping another rock gently. She turned to face Eliana again.

"I'm a bit new here, and it was just too loud in the dorms. I needed some fresh air too, although I wasn't counting on the rain..."

She stared at the sky angrily as a water droplet fell onto her glasses and left a streak of water. She pulled them off and dried them on her robes furiously, and placed the spectacles back on the bridge of her noise. April shook her head.

"What's your excuse for being outside on a crappy day?" she asked, paying more attention to the light ripples on the smooth lake surface.

Eliana Maurson - May 15, 2008 11:34 PM (GMT)
"I'm a bit new here, and it was just too loud in the dorms. I needed some fresh air too, although I wasn't counting on the rain..."

Eliana until now had not even noticed the rain. She looked up at the sky and could tell this was going to be as calm as it was going to get before tomorrow.

"What's your excuse for being outside on a crappy day?"

"Oh it's not crappy, I rather like the rain. But I just wanted a change of scenery, I got tired of the girls throwing themselves at the guys because of how this was the season for relationships." she ended with a expression on her face that looked she had something bad tasting in her mouth.

Eliana was now close enough to the water where she could see her reflection in the water which was becoming more and more unrecognizable as the rain slowly started getting harder. What she saw in the water wasn't someone who was relationship material. What the hell she had a hard time just making and keeping friends.

April Teagan - May 15, 2008 11:39 PM (GMT)
April contemplated that for a moment and chuckled to herself, digging her hands deep into her cloak pockets. She stepped under the shade of a tree before turning her attention back to Eliana, who was now staring into the depths of the lake. April's brow furrowed a bit and then relaxed, trying to decide what she was doing.

She had the sudden urge to push the girl into the lake as a joke, but then realized that wasn't very proper or at all funny in this weather.

"Well the rain is rather nice, but not exactly when you're caught in a sudden storm," April sighed, leaning against the tree trunk and twirling her wand in her hand lazily, as always.

"And I agree with you... it is rather disturbing to watch the hormone crazed teenagers flirt obnoxiously. I find the same problem in our common room. What's your problem with it so much, though?"

April was now intently staring at Eliana, trying to determine what she was doing by stairng into the mirror of the lake.

"And I agree with you... it is rather disturbing to watch the hormone crazed teenagers flirt obnoxiously. I find the same problem in our common room. What's your problem with it so much, though?"

Eliana looked at her reflection for a few more seconds as it stared right back at her in disappointment before throwing the rock in her reflection in the water, not even trying to skip it this time.

"It's just so," Eliana stopped and thought for moment wondering what was it exactly that bothered her about it. "Its so disgusting how they demean love by using it every chance they get just so the girls can stay trendy and boys can get inside their knickers." Eliana said a bit to passionately for her liking. April was a complete stranger, she probably didn't ask so much of her opinion any way. This always happened, when she was riled up it took her a good couple of days to get her temper back in check and return to mellow Eliana.

"Sorry" she mumbled, thinking that this was probably making April a bit uncomfortable she tried to find another flat rock.

April Teagan - May 15, 2008 11:59 PM (GMT)
"Not at all, don't worry." April thought this girl had some deep problems of her own that she was hiding behind these angry feelings. She patted the ground next to her.

"Sit down," she suggested, staring at the spot next to her. From her position, she grabbed a rock and chucked it as far as she could. It landed a good amount of feet away, in the lake, and make a small splash. She turned to look back at Eliana, who had finally stopped looking at her reflection.

"I agree with you to an extent, if that helps," April suggested. She looked away from Eliana for a second, contemplating the girl's wise words. They reminded her of a boy, a long time ago, that she had known. But he had changed... he had seemed so innocent before, his innocense in her mind now shattered. She shook her head angrily, for even thinking of head, and turned back to Eliana.

Eliana Maurson - May 16, 2008 01:32 AM (GMT)
"Sit down,"

Without thinking about it much Eliana sat down next to the girl as if she knew her for a while. Watching April chuck the rock into water instead of skipping it. now this is something I'm good at Eliana thought, since every time she got angry she tended to just fling things. Her mothers warned her that temper of hers would one day land her in anger management one day.

She tried to find a good size rock and threw it as hard as she could enjoying the splash it made.

[i]"I agree with you to an extent, if that helps," [i]

Eliana wasn't sure what to say to this so she just picked up another rock and threw it across the water until she heard, not saw, the splash. "Don't worry I don't have a tragic past with anyone if thats what your thinking. It's just what I observe day to day" she said picking at the grass.

April Teagan - May 16, 2008 01:47 AM (GMT)
April was still merely caught up in her own thoughts when Eliana spoke.

"Don't worry I don't have a tragic past with anyone if thats what your thinking. It's just what I observe day to day" Eliana said.

April blinked at that, and chucked another rock further than the other. She turned her face back to look at Eliana, who seemed to still be deep in thought.

"I don't judge," April said quickly, not wanting to embarass the girl. "You don't know me... and I don't know you. But if you need someone to spill your guts to... well... I'm sitting under this tree in the rain with you, so I guess I'm not going much of anywhere."

She hoped it sounded sincere. The rain had picked up, though the tree shelted her. April had no plans to try to get back to the castle now. Just in case, she cast a spell that would reflect ater onto her robes and cloak. She had no time for laundrey at this moment.

Eliana Maurson - May 16, 2008 02:13 AM (GMT)
"You don't know me... and I don't know you. But if you need someone to spill your guts to... well... I'm sitting under this tree in the rain with you, so I guess I'm not going much of anywhere."

Eliana was kind of caught up in the moment before thunder stroke and she remembered that this was her and this girl was someone that Eliana hardly knew.

"There isn't much to say really. I guess I just get tired and cranky with school work." she said jokingly hoping that April wouldn't press on. Spilling her guts at the moment wouldn't be wise. Because not only would she be telling a stranger some of her inner private thoughts but also it would flare her temper which she would later take on innocent by standers and take days to get rid of.

April Teagan - May 16, 2008 07:05 PM (GMT)
"That sounds alot like me," April stressed. She couldn't shake the feeling that the girl had a lot more on her mind than she was willing to divulge. It wasn't her business, however. She knew that if she continued to press the girl for information, she'd think she was a creep. And April hardly wanted to make a stalker out of herself in her first week at school.

She stared at the raindrops as they fell into the lake, creating splashes and ripples in the usually serene lake. April sighed and scuffer her shoes into the pebbles, wishing that she knew what to say to seem trustworthy. She hated when people were upset. Not only did it create awkward silences, but it didn't kindle any new friendships either.

"I can see that you're upset Eliana. If you want to be alone right now..." April trailed off, and waited patiently for the girl's respons.e

Edit.Sorry.

"I can see that you're upset Eliana. If you want to be alone right now..."

Eliana couldn't help but frown at this. There she was once again unintentionally pushing people away. She was about to just tell the girl to leave if she wanted to. But honestly she was enjoying the company. "I'm not upset honestly. " she said truthfully somewhat. "Having company once in a while is nice." she muttered while resting her chin on her knees. Someone once told her that she made it difficult to love her. She didn't want to stay like that forever.

"So how do like this school so far." Eliana asked hoping to make conversation

April Teagan - May 16, 2008 07:51 PM (GMT)
April thought about the Eliana's question thoughtfully for a moment. How did she like school here... hmm.

"Well, school will be school. It's typically very boring, or so, I think so. But it's a bit different here, so I'm definately enjoying it. The scenery is..." April paused, not sure how to describe. "Overwhelming, but breathtaking. Very interesting place for a school, I might add."

April sighed, kicking at more rocks. She wondered how school would really be, once she made friends. Suddenly, she had more to say,

"It's just hard to adjust, you know. Not having too many friends... it's often difficult. Maybe you understand, I wouldn't know."

She went quiet again, though he thoughts we just as loud.
