Title: First Boy
Description: Zeke
April Teagan - May 18, 2008 07:39 PM (GMT)
OOC- Title is because, you're the first boy I've RP-ed with on the sit :).
April was in a cheerful mood. She had been wandering around the castle for quite some time now, and was particular interested in the set of stairs before her. She had never been here. They wound up and up, rickety and wodden, not stone like most other. She gripped the rail and headed upwards, as the temperature soared.
She screamed as an owl swopped over her head and almost took over her head with its' talons. Her breath came fast as her heart caught up with the stress it was put under. She hated surprise attacks... especially by birds.
So, this must be the Owlery. Right. Her owl must be hiding up here then. Good thing she had a few treats i nthis cloak pocket; it'd be nice to pay Zeus a visit for once. She smiled and hurried up the remaining stairs.
She wasn't alone in visiting owls however; across the circular room stood another boy. She smiled but didn't say anything, she would wait for him to notice her, if anything. She tried to spot Zeus and coax him into coming closer. She was still looking when he noticed she was in the room.

Zeke had blocked out everything around him.
He was focused on the bird sitting in front of him, eyeing him suspiciously. Zeke kept looking back and forth from the bird to the sketchbook he was holding in front of him. He usually sketched things that weren't moving and felt a bit stressed by the fact that the bird might fly off every moment.
He hadn't been able to resist the temptation of painting this particular bird, however. There was something about it that caught his attention immediately.
Zeke snapped back to reality as the bird spread out its wings and flew across the room.
"Bloody.. bird" he muttered, then turned around. As he did so he realised he wasn't alone. A girl was in the room.
How long has she been there he wondered.
"Um. Hi." he said awkwardly, as he closed his sketchbook.
April Teagan - May 18, 2008 08:04 PM (GMT)
April looked at the boy and then at the bird he had been staring at. Then she noticed the sketchbook in his hand. He was drawing, or painting, or something creative that April couldn't do. She smiled.
"Um. Hi." the boy said. He seemed nervous, or awkward maybe, like he wasn't used to introductions. Or maybe he was upset April had disturbed his privacy. She almost wanted to leave, but then decided that would make him feel bad.
"Hi." She turned away for a second, to see if she could find Zeus. Maybe he was out flying, or hunting. He probably hadn't had a lot to eat, April remembered sheepishly. She was very neglectful.
"I'm April, by the way. Sorry if I disturbed you. I'm just looking for my owl... but he doesn't seem to be here." She was talking too much, she realized. She stared at the boy awkwardly, shifting from foot to foot in anticipation.
Ezekiel Torch - May 19, 2008 08:50 PM (GMT)
Zeke glanced at her, as she turned away.
When she spoke again his eyes wandered around the room.
"Yeah, I figured" he said with a wry smile as she went on explaining what she was doing up there.
"The owlery is a pretty good place to be looking for owls" he said, nodding, being slightly sarcastic but still with a hint of a smile on his lips.
He hesitated for a moment.
"I'm Zeke" he said, shortly. "And don't worry about the interrupting part"
April Teagan - May 19, 2008 09:42 PM (GMT)
April laughed at Zeke's sarcasm. True... Owlerly... Owls. April saw the connection. She gave up looking for Zeus and put the owl treats back into her pocket. She'd have to come back later, she guessed. Maybe he would stop by for a snack i nthe Great Hall later.
"Zeke, huh? That's an interesting name? What house are you in? I don't think I've seen you around Slytherin..."
Ezekiel Torch - May 20, 2008 01:01 PM (GMT)
Zeke raised his eyebrows slightly.
"You're in Slytherin?" he asked, trying not to sound as prejudging as he really felt. He had spoken to a couple of nice Slytherins and yet had not been able to shake off the thought that it was the mean and sly people who was in that house.
"I'm a Ravenclaw.." he said. He didn't share the 'Housepride' of many of his fellow students, but had never been able to imagine himself in any other house. Ravenclaw was well suited for him he thought, though he had in fact been mistaken for being a Slytherin more than once.
".. it's Ezekiel, really.." he said, answering her questions in a random order. There was a moment of silence and then his stomach churned, loudly.
Zeke smiled.
"I missed lunch.." he said, and shrugged.
".. you didn't happen to bring anything edible up here?" he asked, hopefully.
April Teagan - May 20, 2008 06:52 PM (GMT)
April laughed, not wanting to be mean or harsh on the boy.
"Slytherin isn't all bad; we all have our moments, of course. My whole family has been in Slytherin, and I don't think I'd fit in too well anywhere else, except maybe Ravenclaw too. But I'm not much of a studious person."
"I missed lunch... you didn't happen to bring anything edible up here?" Zeke asked, and April smiled gently. She did have food.
"Unless you'd like an owl treat..." She help it up, and then laughed. 'No, just kidding. I have an apple, if you'd like it." She took it out of her pocket and showed him; it was green and shiny.
Ezekiel Torch - May 20, 2008 07:37 PM (GMT)
Zeke's eyes widened at the sight of an apple. He was like a child who had just spotted a toy he really wanted.
His eyes fastened on the green apple he swallowed, then looked at April.
"I.. I wouldn't want to take that from you.." he said, but knew it was a lie. He wasn't one to bum anything from anyone, but he was suddenly aware of how hungry he had actually become.
He tilted his head slightly and looked at her face, then back at the apple, biting his lower lip without realising it.
April Teagan - May 20, 2008 08:44 PM (GMT)
Zeke had a weird reaction to the sight of the apple. He looked like he half wanted to back away, and half of him wanted to wrestle April to the ground for it. She wasn't sure which, though. His yes seemed to be pleading to bite into the juicy green apple. April had had one before hand; they were excellent. She had been planning to eat this one later, but she supposed she could share the treat with her acquantance.
"You want it, don't you? Stop being so nice. You can have it, here," April said, shoving it into his hand. He was biting his lip. April knew he would soon be biting her apple. Yum, it looked delicious.
"Go on, they're very good. I had one earlier. Very juicy, well ripe."
Ezekiel Torch - May 20, 2008 08:51 PM (GMT)
She had said it herself: stop being so nice.
Zeke decided to do so, and greedily took a bite of the apple, maintaining his usual laid-back attitude, however. Once he knew he was going to have what he wanted, he had no trouble controlling himself.
"You're right" he said, after swallowing his second bite.
"It's delicious."
He took another bite, chewed and swallowed it, feeling comforted already.
"May I offer you some of your own apple, miss?" he asked, being playfully polite, and extended it for her to take.
April Teagan - May 20, 2008 08:57 PM (GMT)
April chuckled and grabbed the apple. She took a big bite. Yum, it was juicy. She enjoyed it; chewing it slowly and feeling the nice cool drips of apple juice drip down her throat. She swallowed contently and handed it back.
"Miss? What am I, old? Call me April, none of that polite, midevil servant crap, Unless you'd like to be my slave, that is." April laughed to show hi mshe was joking.
Just then, her owl swooped in the open window and attempted to snatch the apple out of Zeke's outstretched hand, grabbing it back.
"Get away from that Zeus! That's not yours to eat!"
Ezekiel Torch - May 20, 2008 09:06 PM (GMT)
He smiled to show that he too had been kidding.
"Okay, April it is" he said, nodding.
He was just about to take another bite of the apple when something came in the window. Zeke gave a jump of surprise and let go of the apple he was holding. The bird seemed to catch it in midair.
It took a moment for Zeke to realise what had just happened.
April Teagan - May 20, 2008 09:41 PM (GMT)
Stupid bird! April cursed in her head and went to shoo the bird away from Zeke's head.
"Zeus! That wasn't polite." Zeus continued to peck at the apple. "I had a treat for you, you dumb bird!" Zeus ruffled his feathers and hooted angrily at hre, turning his break away from her. April stomped her foot like a little kid.
"I'm sorry. That's my owl, he's very impolite, apparently. Sorry about the apple."
Zeke seemed upset that the apple had been eaten. Stupid bird, it needed to eat its' own food, and not steal from people. She wanted a way to make it up to the boy.
"Want to head down to the kitchens and get another?" April suggested. "If you want one, that is."
Ezekiel Torch - May 21, 2008 09:32 PM (GMT)
"Don't worry about it" he said. He didn't have an owl, and was honestly a bit afraid of the birds.
Smiling wryly Zeke nodded. Mischief was his prefered way of spending time, and it wouldn't be the first time he visited the kitchens.
"Yeah, sounds good" he said, nodding again. Perhaps befriending a Slytherin wasn't a half bad idea?
April Teagan - May 21, 2008 09:53 PM (GMT)
OOC:
I'm gunna make a new thread in the kitchens :)
IC:
"Off we go then!" And April led the way.
