Title: Getting Away
Description: Anyone Welcome
Rebecca Emery - May 18, 2008 08:49 PM (GMT)
Rebecca sat down on the grass alongside the lake. It was a sunny day and she guessed the temperature had to be around seventy five or eighty degrees. Though even with the sun beating down on her she felt cool because of the on going cold breeze. To her it was a perfect day. The weather was great, it was the weekend and she had no classes. Rebecca couldn't help but smile in relief at being able to have the day off. It was time for her to relax and get away from everything. Something which didn't happen to often.
Sighing deeply at that thought Rebecca's blue eyes watched the lake. It was fairly calm today, practically still. Something most didn't see too often. Some people would call the scene eerie but she didn't agree. Even so Rebecca knew that soon the lake would be filled with swimming students and the eerie feelings would die and be replaced with enjoyment and happiness.
So that’s why Rebecca continued to sit cross-legged on the lake shore and enjoy the moment as the breeze blew around her cooling her off as the heat rose.
April Teagan - May 18, 2008 09:33 PM (GMT)
It seemed to be a good day to relax, down by the lake. April brought only her wand and a long novel that she hoped to read under a tree. It was stifling hot, something she was not used to, especially from back home. There was a nice breeze however, and it kept the temperature from creating sweaty conditions.
April was dressed in Muggle clothes today; long plaid shorts and and a bright red tank top. She had contacts in today, sparkling her eyes a remarkable blue color. It was too hot for black frames. Her red flip flops clopped obnoxiously as she headed down the grass.
She could see a girl sprawled out on the grass near the lake, alone. April was suddenly in the mood for company. She wandered close to the girl and stopped a few feet from her, edging closer to a shady tree.
"Hello. Mind if I sit, also?" she addressed the girl.
Rebecca Emery - May 20, 2008 12:15 AM (GMT)
Rebecca had been in her own thoughts when she heard the voice of a girl. The voice sounded vaguely familiar and she instantly turned to face the other. Once her blue eyes landed on the laugh escaped her lips lightening her blue eyes up. She wasn't sure how April didn't notice it was her. Maybe it was because my back was turned, she thought quietly.
"Of course I don't mind April," Rebecca answered emphasizing the others name. She couldn't help the grin that fell on her lips as she waited to see April's reaction.
OOC: Sorry about shortness.
April Teagan - May 20, 2008 12:57 AM (GMT)
April gasped. She hadn't even noticed that it was Rebecca. She fell onto the grass next to the girl and laid down. The grass was wet; April didn't like it.
"I didn't notice it was you, all alone over here. Usually you're surrounded by your social bubble of dance partners," April said sarcastically, winking at her.
She stared up at the clouds, glancing at the girl sitting next to her. It was a nice day out, April wasn;t surprised Rebecca was outside on a day like today. April was always meeting people on the grounds, it was a common lounge spot.
"So, what are you doing out here all alone?"
Rebecca Emery - May 20, 2008 04:18 AM (GMT)
Rebecca laughed as she heard the gasp April made once she'd turned around and noticed it was her. It was the exact reaction she had been expecting. As April plopped down beside her Rebecca opened her mouth to tell her the grass around them was wet because of it being the lake shore but saw she was too late. Laughing quietly as she noticed the girl's face she said, "I know I picked the best place to sit didn't I?"
Grinning as she said this Rebecca's blue eyes strayed back to the lake which was now moving but only slightly. When she heard April speak she turned her heart shaped face right in time to see the wink. "I know. I have to say though the dancing was fun," Rebecca admitted watching to see if April was going to agree.
When she heard April question Rebecca shrugged. She had come out here to get away mostly, but other than that she had no clue. This she told the other. "I came out her to get away, but other than that I have no clue." Pausing at this Rebecca nudged April gently with her elbow and smiled. "How about yourself?" She questioned.
April Teagan - May 20, 2008 08:52 PM (GMT)
April laughed at Rebecca's expression as she talked to her. She liked Rebecca; she was a very calm person and good to talk to. They seemed sort of alike; perhaps April was a bit more on the meaner side, or maybe more direct, but still alike.
"I came out her to get away, but other than that I have no clue." Rebecca nudged April gently, in a playful manner."How about yourself?"
"Get away? Interesting. Me, I just come out here to relax and, well, I was going to read before I spotted you." She held up the book. "Othello. Classic Muggle novel. It's alright, so far, I guess."
She put the book down and sprawled o nthe grass, though it was wet. She didn't think of drying it with her wand, which would have been the intelligient thing to do.
"Did you want to be alone? You said you wanted to get away... Sorry if I disturbed you," April said quickly.
Rebecca Emery - May 20, 2008 09:40 PM (GMT)
Rebecca was glad to see April laugh. Laughter she'd always heard was the key to a longer and not to mention happier life. The longer part she couldn't be quite sure was true though. Nevertheless if it happened to be Rebecca knew she would be living for quite some time as she loved to laugh. One thing she knew she was good at and enjoyed doing.
Smiling slightly she tuned out her thoughts just as April spoke. As the girl held out the book Othello saying it was a muggle classic Rebecca tried to recall the book. As a few seconds passed though and she had come up clueless. "Othello huh? What's it about?" She questioned with a hint of curiosity in her voice.
Waiting for her question to be answered Rebecca was a little surprised when she heard April speak on. Smiling at the other she shook her head. Yes she did want to get away, but now that April was here and talking with her she couldn’t think of a better way to spend the afternoon. "No don't worry about it. Apology accepted," she told April then added, "Stay for awhile and tell me about your book."
April Teagan - May 20, 2008 09:50 PM (GMT)
April was surprised at Rebecca's curiousity. Most people regarded reading and books are boring and dreadful subjects to talk about, although April was utterly fascinated by literature. She could be a bookworm sometimes, although she never came off that way.
"Othello is such a classic. It's written by Shakespeare, a tradgey play, of course, like all of Shakepeare's works. Othello is the main character, you could say, and is in the army. He marries a young girl and another man, Roderigo, wants this girl as well. Her name is Desmodensa. Of course, there is a conflict over who shall recieve the girl; since only Iago knows that Othello has married her, and Iago was attempting to help Roderigo in his pursuit of Desmodensa."
"That's the beginning part, or as far as I've gotten. It's very well written of course, and I do like it. It's a bit hard to read Shakespeare's writing though, from old times, so I take my time and try to decipher what he's really trying to say."
April stared down at the book, hoping she had explained it in justice. It really was a great book, and it would be a good time to read it later tonight, in bed. April looked forward to it. She hoped she hadn't bored Rebecca to tears with her synopsis.
"I hope that wasn't boring to you."
Rebecca Emery - May 21, 2008 12:31 AM (GMT)
Listening to April explain the book Rebecca nodded here and there to show the other she was listening as it was the polite thing to do. Hearing the name of the author Rebecca bit her lip searching through her memories knowing she'd heard of this Shakespeare person before. Though when she came up with nothing at all she frowned slightly. I'll have to ask April about him, she thought quietly as the girl finished.
"Wow what a love triangle they have there," Rebecca said laughing a little. She knew if she were to ever be in Desmodensa's position she wouldn't of wanted to hurt either guy. Even so she knew it was a tragedy and something along those lines was going to happen. "Old times, like old English? Oh and question. I vaguely remember who Shakespeare is. It seems he's a writer, but does he do anything else?"
As she finished asking her question Rebecca waited for her answer until she heard April's comment. Smiling she shook her head. "No you didn't. Remember I was the one who asked what the book was about," she reminded her with a nod.
OOC: Sorry if my post sounds funny, lol.
April Teagan - May 21, 2008 12:56 AM (GMT)
OOC- sounded fine :)
IC:
"William Shakespeare!" April exploded. "He's the most... arguebly, of course, well respected and greatest English playwright, ever. And yes, Old English. Greatest of all time, brilliant writer. He wrote poetry too, of course."
April paused then asked, "Do you come from a Pureblood family? Even so, you should still know him, because I do... Odd, really."
Rebecca Emery - May 21, 2008 02:31 AM (GMT)
OOC: Haha okay good.
IC:
Rebecca couldn't help but laugh at April's outburst. Listening to the other she now understood the reason for the outburst. It seemed like Shakespeare had a brilliant mind. One that worked out plays and poetry that was still well known nowadays. Part of Rebecca couldn’t help but feel a little embarrassed because she didn't know the guy except for hearing his name a few times in the past. Oh well, she thought, one can't know everything.
"I've heard of Shakespeare's name a few times in the past but that’s about all I know about him. Until now though," she announced smiling at April. "Yes I do come from a pureblood family. One that is actually interested in muggles. So I guess I should know, but….I don't." She shrugged lightly then questioned, "What are the names of his other writings?"
April Teagan - May 21, 2008 09:51 PM (GMT)
"Well, it can be a learning expierence then, because all Muggle children learn about Shakespeare, especially in thier secondary education..." she trailed off.
April was thinking about which of his works to include. She, of course, had never read all of them. There were so many! But there were the famous ones.
"Well, he wrote plays, and then sonnets. He was a great sonnet writer. And then... there's his plays: A Midsummer Night's Dream, that's a comedy; a tradgedy, Hamlet; Julius Cesear; The Taming of the Shrew; Romeo and Juliet..."
"You've heard of Romeo and Juliet, of course?"
Rebecca Emery - May 21, 2008 10:26 PM (GMT)
Rebecca nodded at April when she spoke about the muggles schooling. That was one thing she knew about. She always remembered the muggle kids in her neighborhood complaining about school. Always saying they didn't see why they had to learn any of what their teachers taught them because it was completely useless. That they weren't going to use any of the information when they grew older. Shaking her head at her thought s Rebecca tuned back into April who was speaking again.
"Romeo and Juliet is one I've heard. Especially from all the muggle kids who live near me," she answered with a nod. She wasn't sure about most of the others except maybe Julius Caesar so other than that she was clueless.
"It seems you know a lot about him," she told April then paused turning her heart shaped face toward the girl. "Do you read a lot?" If April did Rebecca knew that was one thing they had something in common.
April Teagan - May 21, 2008 10:51 PM (GMT)
April snorted. Of course she read a lot, it was one of her favorite things to do, other than magic.
"I do read a lot yes. I've just recently gotten into Shakespeare though. They have so many books here, it's hard not to take advanatage. But I like all sorts of books. We have quite a library at my house; my mother is a big reader too, and my sister. So we have a large library that I read from on holidays and the like, but nothing compared to here!"
April stopped, turning red. That was an embarassing and revealing spiel of hers. She giggled nervously.
"What about you? Do you like to read?"
Rebecca Emery - May 21, 2008 11:25 PM (GMT)
Rebecca grinned when she heard April speak enthusiastically about loving to read. She too usually had the same enthusiasm when books were the topic of conversation. Especially when it came to her favorite books. Tuning out her thought for the moment she listened to April's nervous giggle and laughed. To her being a lover of books was nothing to be ashamed of.
"Oh yes I love to read also. My parents always have to come and literally drag me away from any bookstore we walk into. I swear I could live in one if I could," she answered a smile brightening her heart shaped face. " I don't think I could live without books."
Nodding to confirm this Rebecca suddenly remembered April saying sister in her answer. Turning toward the girl she had to asked, "So you have a sister. Does she go here?"
April Teagan - May 21, 2008 11:28 PM (GMT)
April audibly groaned. She shouldn't have brought her sister up. It always put her in a bad mood; always, without fail. She sighed.
"Yes, I do. She's a 7th year Gryffindor, and she's a pain in the arse. I'd rather not talk about her though, unless you want to see me throw things into the lake. I can't promise it won't be you." April winked.
"Do you have any brothers or sisters?"
Rebecca Emery - May 22, 2008 03:15 AM (GMT)
Watching April Rebecca couldn't help the raised eyebrow she gave the other after hearing the audible groan and sigh that came after the question of her sister. Part of Rebecca had a feeling it was because April didn't care for her sister. Even so Rebecca didn't understand how any person could hate or despise their siblings. Well....maybe she could, but sometimes it was a lot harder for her to understand. Probably because she was an only child.
"Yes, I do. She's a 7th year Gryffindor, and she's a pain in the arse. I'd rather not talk about her though, unless you want to see me throw things into the lake. I can't promise it won't be you."
Hearing this and seeing the wink that was given to her after April finished her sentence Rebecca smiled at the other. Gryffindor and Slytherin were definitely two different personalities. Two that probably caused a lot of conflict. Especially while living in the same house for most of one's life.
"Well since I don't feel like being thrown in the lake right now we will change the subject immediately," she announced smiling before she went on to ask April's question. "Actually no I don't. have any siblings. I'm an only child."
April Teagan - May 22, 2008 10:41 PM (GMT)
April sighed. She wished she was an only child, it would make life so much easier around the house.
"I wish I was an only child... Although, ym parents treat me as though I am." She laughed. "They couldn't care less about her... although she does better in school, she's all into... muggles. And my parents aren't. So, they adore that I'm in Slytherin. They just KNEW I'd be in Slytherin, you know?" she gushed obnoxiously, trying to imitate her mother's annoying tone.
She had done it. She had revealed family information; she never did that. And to a girl she barely knew... it was innapropriate.
"Sorry about that... rant. I'm sure you wish you had siblings, but really, you shouldn't. They are very annoying."
Rebecca Emery - May 23, 2008 01:18 AM (GMT)
Listening to April Rebecca couldn't help but be a little surprised that she was giving away such personal information. No that she minded it was just this was only there second meeting. Nevertheless some people were more open to talking about their personal life while others happened not to be. Again not that she minded.
"It's alright April. No worries," she told the girl flashing her a smile of reassurance. "Sometimes we let things slip. Say things that weren't meant to be said. I think you get what I mean." Nodding at that she shrugged. After all Rebecca knew she'd done it a couple of times in her life. It was only human.
"Ha I know they can be. From listening to my muggle neighbor's and students here at Hogwarts it's something I hear about a lot. Even so I can‘t help but wonder what it would be like sometimes...." Trailing off Rebecca frowned slightly. It was time to change the subject to something that wouldn't upset them both.
"So April, after we parted how did the rest of the dance go for you?"
April Teagan - May 23, 2008 01:27 AM (GMT)
April was glad for a subject change; she did't want to embarass herself even further, which she would be sure to do. She shouldn't tarnish the family name by being a bit too open. She sighed and tried to think back to the dance.
It had been a fun night; met some people, danced a lot,and went to bed exhasuted. Probably her favorite part was dancing, of course, but that had left her tired for days afterwards, so there were reprecuctions of course.
"It was good, of course. I danced a whole hell of a lot, and met a few people, and met up with some friends, which was good times. It was definately my favorite dance I've been to in awhile, which isn't saying much however, I haven't been to many..."
April thought for a moment about her last dance. Basic education for wizards in a private school. Reading ,writing, math, the essentials she had been ten. Funny dance. Awkward little kids dancing 2 feet apart from each other. But she did attend social gatherings with her pureblood family and close friends, so those had been good times. They were hardly dances though; more ike parties turning into dances.
"How was your night? I shouldn't talk about myself so much, or let my mind wander," she said, laughing to herself.
Rebecca Emery - May 23, 2008 04:58 AM (GMT)
As April went to answer Rebecca smiled at her answer knowing she was one of the people April had met and danced with. Rebecca had to admit she also had a fun time. She usually never went to dances or events that required formal dressing but when she did she had a blast. Dressing formal was one of her favorite parts because Rebecca usually never wore frilly things. Her outfit usually consisted of her Hogwarts uniform or jeans and t-shirts. Though when she did get the chance to dress up she had to admit she felt pretty sexy.
Laughing aloud at where her thoughts had roamed Rebecca listened as April spoke again. Smiling at the girl she shook her head. April always had to crack a joke no matter where she was or who she was with. That was something she’d learned about the other in their last two meetings. Not that it was a bad thing. Jokes always kept the conversation going and even dragged a conversation back from the depths if necessary.
“Don’t worry about it April. It happens to the best of us,” Rebecca said referring to the mind wandering part of her comment. Thinking about the question of the dance Rebecca replied with, “Well it was fun. After I left you guys I met up with a couple of friends and hung out with them for awhile. Then was forced to dance with the same guy I was running away from when I met you.” Pausing at this moment Rebecca laughed quietly recalling her second time dancing with the boy. It was as boring as the last time, maybe even worse.
“That’s what I get for not saying no,” she told April smiling a little then adding as if in explanation. “It’s always been hard for me to be rude or say no to any person. A weakness of mine I know many people can take advantage of.”
April Teagan - May 23, 2008 07:55 PM (GMT)
April nodded through Rebecca's explanation of her night, and the disaster of having to dance with the same awkward boy twice. She laughed. It was rude, but her situation had been very enjoyable for everyone else to hera about.
"You really ought to... stick up for yourse.f I'ts not good to be a pushover. You'll learn, however. Or maybe that's just the Slytherin in me talking."
Rebecca Emery - May 23, 2008 08:21 PM (GMT)
Rebecca knew her comment about the boy would get April to laugh. She knew it was a funny situation until of course you were the one having to go through the event yourself. Smiling slightly at April she listened to what the girl said. She nodded in agreement to April's comment. Rebecca knew she needed to learn to be not such a push over as April called it. But as the saying goes old habits die hard.
"Yeah I know I do April. It's just..." Pausing for a moment she shrugged at the Slytherin girl. "Old habits die hard ya know?"
OOC: Sorry so short!
April Teagan - May 23, 2008 08:29 PM (GMT)
OOC: Understandable.
IC:
"Of course. Rude of me to point out flaws, though. My apologies. Everyone is different, and we can't all be Slytherin material here." April smirked and puffed out her chest, trying to seem smug. She knew she looked like an idiot.
"So, I have a question. I'm wondering, did you want to be in Hufflepuff? Or, before, did you have a different house in mind? I'm just wondering how you like being in Hufflepuff. It always seemed like the... outcast house, to me. No offense, of course. Just a personal family observation, I think."
Rebecca Emery - May 23, 2008 08:46 PM (GMT)
Rebecca let out a laugh when she heard April's comment and watched as she tried to look smug. Try being the keyword in that sentence. "Don't worry April. Your apology is accepted," she told the girl with a wave of the hand. She didn't take offence to what the Slytherin girl said because she knew it was right. Even so it wasn't something she was proud of.
Shaking her head Rebecca listened to April's next question. Biting her bottom lip out of habit she thought on the question. Had she ever expected a different house? Searching back through her memories Rebecca nodded. She had. Ever since she was little she'd thought Ravenclaw was the better house for her. Nevertheless she knew the sorting hat had it's reason when putting her in Hufflepuff so she didn't dwell on it much.
"It's alright April. I understand completely when you say that. I think everyone's had those beliefs since...forever?" Smiling a little at April she shrugged and continued on to reply to the girls question. "Yes I did always picture myself in a different house. Ravenclaw in fact, but ever since the sorting hat ceremony I've learned the sorting hat had it's reasons and not to dwell on them." Smiling at April she went ahead and asked the other the same question though already having a feeling she knew the answer.
April Teagan - May 24, 2008 02:35 PM (GMT)
April sighed and the look at the girl pensievely.
"Yes, I originally placed you in Ravenclaw. That was my belief... very deep, thoughfuly, witty perhaps. Not Hufflepuff. Of course, the hat always knows..."
April had always knew she'd be in Slytherin. Since forever, a young child. And she had wanted it. Badly. Not only to prove to herself, but to prove to her sister, and her parents. She had been taught that Slytherin was the way to go; a place to shine for. And she as successful in Slytherin. It did indeed help her; in friendships, and schooling, and if finding herself.
"Yes, I knew I'd be in Slytherin .Of course, you can't really know, can you? But I had a very very good idea. y whole family, save my sister, was in Slytherin. My mother and father were both Head Boy and Girl, also, and one of my great relatives use to be the Head of House at one point."
She took a breath, but continued.
"Of course, it isn't only family relations that I believed would get me here. I'm more of a Slytheirn than anything else. I hate Gryffindor house, of course. I wouldn't do to be a Hufflepuff, no offense again. I wouldn't perhaps, mind, Ravenclaw. But I preferred Slytherin, and that set me apart from others. I chose m own destiny, and just happened to have the background and personality to go trhough with it."
Rebecca Emery - May 25, 2008 12:43 AM (GMT)
Rebecca watched as April looked toward her pensively. What came out of the girl’s mouth made Rebecca smile. She was thoughtful and perhaps witty sometimes but very deep? Not so much. It was nice though to know how April viewed her. It was nice to know how anyone viewed her. Even if some people’s views weren’t meant in a good way.
“Well I thank you for that April. I’m pretty much everything you said except probably deep,” Announcing this Rebecca emphasized the word deep. Laughing at the word because she knew she was pretty far from that description. Tuning out her thoughts though she continued to listen and watch April.
Hearing the girl speak about always knowing she was going to be in Slytherin Rebecca nodded in agreement. April certainly was your typical Slytherin, for the most part. The only thing separating her from being a true Slytherin was her enjoying about almost anyone’s company. Usually Slytherin’s kept to their selves and the others in their own house and maybe a few Ravenclaw’s here and there. Other than that no one.
“Of course. I would never ever suspect you anything but Slytherin April. Maybe a Ravenclaw but other than that nope. Your attitude and the way you see life along with your family relations is what makes you a Slytherin. Something I’m sure will ever change,” Smiling at that she knew no one would ever be able to change April. But if there was someone in the future Rebecca knew she would definitely have to meet him or her.
Shaking away her thoughts Rebecca thought for a few moments before asking with a hint of amusement and curiosity, “So you make your own destiny huh?”
April Teagan - May 25, 2008 02:50 AM (GMT)
“So you make your own destiny huh?” Rebeeca asked, and Apri lwas sure she heard a hint of sarcasm and slight amusement in her voice. April nodded slightly and smirked, not sure what Rebecca expected as an answer. She thought hard.
"Well, of course, how could one not shape thier own destiny? You are surely put onto this Earth to do something great, whether it is by your standards or the world's. But you should live for yourself, you know? Do something you enjoy, and succeed at it. Well, that's what my father always says..."
April thought hard again, trying to decide how to better explain it.
"It's a moot point, Rebecca. One may argue that fate is predetermined... but, really, only you can decide what to do. I choose to be a leader, not a follower, and to put in an effort only when needed to accomplish what I think is necessary. Well, I digress, really."
Rebecca Emery - May 25, 2008 05:27 AM (GMT)
Rebecca watched April’s reaction to her question. A smirk and slight nod was her reward so far. Rebecca laughed a little at this watching as April went into deep thought. Not wanting to interrupt she took to looking away from the girl and to the lake which was now full of students. I knew the calm of the water would be ruined soon, she thought to herself slightly disappointed as she finally heard April speak.
“This is the reason why I said Ravenclaw was the only other house I’d see you in,” Rebecca announced smiling as April finished. The Slytherin girl she knew seemed to have strong opinions on the matter and Rebecca had to admit the girl was right. The topic was a very arguable or moot point, as she put it. Even so when it came to April’s explanation Rebecca knew it made sense.
“I agree it is a moot point. Some of course as you said think there destiny is already made the minute their born while other’s believe they make their destiny the way they wanted it. Either way as you said you decide. You make the choices that takes you to your destiny whether predetermined or not…” Trailing Rebecca laughed suddenly. She had repeated pretty much what April said just changing some words along the way.
“Ha I guess I pretty much said what you just did huh?” She asked smiling over at April before shrugging lightly. “At least we both got our points across.”
April Teagan - May 25, 2008 02:26 PM (GMT)
"Well, that's the beauty of it. Great minds think alike. Again, you'd do well in Ravenclaw..." April trailed off. The girl would do well anywhere, April decided. Perhaps not Slytherin, though he rPureblood nature would allow her entrance. She was too nice for Slytherin.
"One wonders... you're a bit too nice for Slytherin, I expect. But you and I are not much different. And you are Pureblood, correct? So one may wonder, why you wouldn't fit in with us..."
Rebecca Emery - May 26, 2008 08:32 PM (GMT)
"They do don't they," Rebecca said more as a statement than a question. She laughed knowing she'd heard the saying great minds think alike many times in the past. Shaking her thoughts away though when April once again referred to her being best in Ravenclaw Rebecca nodded. She knew it was true, but there was nothing she could to about it now. She told this to April.
"Well there's not much I can do about it now. Plus I like Hufflepuff. It's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be, really," She said nodding to confirm. Pushing those thoughts away, back into her mind, Rebecca listened to April. Hearing the girl's words made her think. She's right, she thought quietly. Her and April were alike in many ways. She had never wondered before but now she did.
"Yes I'm a pureblood," Rebecca answered simply. "But then again as you said I am very nice. Too much for a Slytherin’s liking. That's probably one of the biggest reasons why as you said." Trailing off Rebecca shrugged her shoulders.
"To tell you the truth I wouldn't have liked being put into Slytherin, no offence of course," she said flashing April a smile.
April Teagan - May 26, 2008 09:15 PM (GMT)
April agreed, understanding. Many people had the same reaction... not wanting to be in Slytherin. It did have a bit of a bad reputation, and it could be a bit rough at times. But then again, it wasn't as bad as those often spoke about it. The rumor starters were, of course, not in the house. All Gryffindors, April presumed. She cracked a smile.
"None taken. There are too many rumors about Slytherin though. We may not all be nice, but that is because we're very goal oriented. We just... don't have limits to how we attain it. A bit of pain, rule breaking, cheating.. we take it as it comes. Perhaps you wouldn't fit in," April replief, smiling slightly.
She knew the reasons why she was in Slytherin. She would achieve her ends in a bad way if needed or told to do so. She was courageous of course, but not loyal to anyone but herself, or maybe her family and very close friends. Some may believe that's a bad thing... but April believed sometimes it was necessary to get somewhere in this world.
"Is there a ... specific reason, you wouldn't like to be in Slytherin? Other than that we're all a bunch of pricks?"
Rebecca Emery - May 27, 2008 01:39 AM (GMT)
Rebecca was glad to see the smile and hear April’s words of reassurance that she’d taken no offence. She knew from experience some times people would take things seriously when you spoke bad about their house or anything important to them, even if you went ahead and said no offence. Rebecca was glad April wasn’t one of those people, just like herself. At least most of the time.
Coming out of her own thoughts Rebecca focused on April as the girl spoke. Hearing her last question made Rebecca purse her lips in thought. Specific reasons why she wouldn’t like to be put in Slytherin….were there any except the one April pointed out? She didn’t care for the attitude’s one adopted in Slytheirn and wouldn’t want it for herself. Plus she wouldn’t be able to stand the rudeness and pureblooded unity. As she thought about these though she wondered if they really mattered. Without thinking Rebecca relayed these matters to April before saying,
“If those aren’t specific answers than I guess I have to change my answer of not wanting to be in Slytherin. After all you guys aren’t really that bad…” As Rebecca trailed off she bit her lip and wondered if she’d always judged Slytherin to harshly. As she thought back on her reasons part of her had to admit that it seemed she’d always had.
OOC: Sorry if any point this doesn't makes sense. =]

April nodded her head in agreement. She laughed at herself, realizing she had taken up many of the good reasons not to be placed in Slytherin already.
"Understandable. We aren't all bad, and I just needed to tell you that. Although, there are some bad ones, but hey, you get those everywhere. Not everyone is perfect, especially not myself. I know a few fiesty Slytherins myself, even ones I tend to shy away from."
She paused, and then had a weird thought. She hated when she taked too much, but she had always been a big talker. She wanted to listen now, however. She turned back to Rebecca.
"So , you've heard about Slytherin. Tell me aobut Hufflepuff. Your housemates... what you guys believe in.. are there secrets I don't know about? Spill."
Rebecca Emery - May 27, 2008 07:02 PM (GMT)
Smiling over at April Rebecca was glad that girl got what she had meant. After all to her it sounded sort of confusing. All in all she nodded at April’s words.
“I know not all of you are bad. I have a close friend in Slytherin and I’ve talked with many other Slytherin’s before with out getting my head bit off so to speak. I guess being we’ve all just judged you Slytherin’s for so long. It’s like a habit. One that dies hard.” Saying this Rebecca smiled over to April shrugging her shoulders. It was just how things were and probably always would be.
"So , you've heard about Slytherin. Tell me aobut Hufflepuff. Your housemates... what you guys believe in.. are there secrets I don't know about? Spill."
Hearing April say this Rebecca laughed but answered her question all the same. “Well us Hufflepuff’s we aren’t so innocent or goody goody everyone makes us out to be. We all like to joke and just like everyone we have dreams that we wish to acquire.” Pausing at this point Rebecca shrugged and took a deep breathe before going on. “We’re pretty much like everyone else. Just we show more of one side then others. Like we are always nice and bubbly people so to say. While, in your case, Slytherin’s don’t show that side very much. But anyways I think you get what I mean. We have different sides like everyone does we just don’t show them much.”
Trailing off Rebecca thought for a few moments before saying, “I hope I answered your question.”
April Teagan - May 27, 2008 07:15 PM (GMT)
April nodded in agreement. Rebecca had done a very good job answering her question.
"I think that's the thing about Houses. Most of all have a bit of every good or bad quality, just it doesn't blossom or show at such a young age. Who knows, by the end of my schooling years, I may be the nicest person. But, probably not. Being around people like you tends to bring out the qaulities you are all cenetered about. That's what house unity is meant for, I think. To be around people who can make you the best you can be, with what you've already got."
April sighed. She was getting too philosophical and deep hereon Rebecca. Nobody wanted to hear her ideas of house unity and all that crap. Sometimes, April only believed half of it. But she did know that she was more loyal to Slytherins than to anyone else. It was how she had already adapted to the school.
"I talk to much, I know. It's a flaw."
Rebecca Emery - May 27, 2008 07:53 PM (GMT)
Rebecca nodded in agreement to everything that April said. The girl was right. Even though she'd never thought about house unity in that way she knew her friend was right. As Rebecca thought back over what April had said she smiled at one sentence in particular.
"Your right April. I have to agree with you on this. I'm sure most people don't even think about it. But really I have to tell you I like your last sentence. It's very true now that I come to think about it. And of course the best of you is always different from the person to your left or right. I guess that's what causes many problems here and every where else. People just don‘t like difference."
Trailing off Rebecca couldn't help but smile at April's comment on talking to much. That was something Rebecca didn't mind much. Sometimes she did but most of the time she could care less.
"I don't mind at all actually. It keeps the conversation going does it not?"
April Teagan - May 27, 2008 07:59 PM (GMT)
April laughed. It sure did keep the conversation going. Well, she had always been a big talker, always brought to social events as a child and everything. she had been forced to communicate with many people, young and old, so she was used to polite and forced conversation, flowinginto deeper meaning later on.
"Well, I'm very used to it. I was taken to so many social gatherings as a child that I learned to speak politely and everything. Conversation was always available and necessary; so many new people, that I just got used to it..." April sighed in reeponse, the good old days.
"I'm sure you don't need to hear about that, though. So long ago..."
Rebecca Emery - May 27, 2008 09:31 PM (GMT)
Listening to April Rebecca couldn’t help but shake her head and smile. She’d always been in the spot light herself, since she was an only child, and hardly ever got timid. She was social but sometimes she just preferred to listen. It was something she was good at and loved to do. She liked to hear about other people and what they thought about the word. It always interesting to hear peoples different opinions, she thought to herself with a smile.
“Well I have to say that’s a good thing. I mean I think it’s better to be social than timid. Maybe’s it’s because I’ve learned to be because I’m an only child, but….” Trailing off Rebecca shrugged. “By the way if you ever feel like sharing something go right ahead. I have to admit I like to listen. Sometimes more than I like to talk. It’s something I’m good at. I guess you could say I love to hear about people’s past and there opinions. It’s crazy seeing how alike and different people are. Especially when they won’t admit it.”
Smiling at what she said Rebecca shrugged her shoulders. She liked for everyone to know that if they really needed to talk then she was up for listening. It had always been a thing of hers - helping people. She loved it and sometimes it got to the point where she was quite persistent. A very annoying trait to some.
April Teagan - May 27, 2008 09:48 PM (GMT)
April smiled at Rebecca. She would share a bit of family history, if the girl was so inclined to listen. She took a deep breath. She often got on long tangents.
"Well, growing up in a very social pureblood family is a little hectic, especially to a younger child. I'msure you may know, being Pureblood yourself. We had so many parties, and dinners, and random gatherings, I can barely remember half of them! I always had to dress up in little dresses and ridiculous dress robes and put on a big fake smile and entertain hundreds of guests. People I didn't even know. It was a bit ridiculous at times. I'm sure you could imagine."
"Looking back, I sort of hated it. My father had a lot of business partners, and when I was about 13 he started introducing me to his wealthy partner's sons, and tried to have some sort of suiter thing going on with them. My mother wouldn't have it. Anyways, it got all a bit monotonous after awhile. But once my best friend Tyler started showing up at the house with the guest, it wasn't so bad. Us little 'tykes' as my mom put it got into lots of trouble, so it was more enjoyable. And, it turns out, I was a great dancer."
"did you parents bring you to all these social events? I can't be the only poor pureblood child forced to endure the ridiculous things.
