Title: Stuck

Ezekiel Torch - May 23, 2008 07:53 PM (GMT)
"Oh, bloody.." Zeke muttered under his breath.
He had placed himself in the library to get a moment of silence.
The rain was heavily falling outside and Zeke felt nice and comfortable. He was doing a solitaire but unfotunately it didn't seem solvable. He was stuck but wasn't willing to give up.
He sat there staring at the cards layed out on the table in front of him.

"I can't believe out of this whole library I can't find one book that catches my interest," Rebecca mumbled aloud aggravated. She'd been searching for the past hour for a book to replace the one in her arms. She'd needed to return the book but thought that instead of making two trips to the front desk that she would go in search of her next entertainment. But the way it was going Rebecca had a feeling she was going to be leaving the library empty.
Sighing to herself at this thought Rebecca rounded the corner and came to a stop when she saw she had made her way to the tables were students took to doing their school work. Frowning slightly Rebecca deicide to just turn her book in and leave but her attention was caught by a boy to her left.

Walking by him she saw he seemed to be flustered by....looking down at his table she saw, a game of cards? Laughing quietly Rebecca walked back toward his table. Stopping she looked across the wooden piece of furniture at him and asked with a hint of amusement in her voice, "So do you need any help? It seems to me like your stuck."

Ezekiel Torch - May 23, 2008 08:22 PM (GMT)
Zeke glanced up as someone approached him. It turned out to be a girl, he recognized her as a Hufflepuff.
Stubborn as always, Zeke shook his head.
"I'm not. And I don't need help.. I'm perfectly fine" he lied. He couldn't stand feeling ridiculed, and even though the girl probably didn't mean any harm, the hint of laughter in her voice had gotten to him.
He looked down at the cards and wished he was able to figure out how to solve the solitaire so he wouldn't have to loose face in front of the Hufflepuff girl.
After a while he sighed.
".. perhaps a hint might be good." he said quietly.

Rebecca Emery - May 23, 2008 08:34 PM (GMT)
When Rebecca heard the boy's stubborn reply she shook her head slightly and let the amusement that lit her blue eyes die away. She hadn't meant to offend him in anyway but it seemed she had. Rebecca instantly felt bad, but her feelings lessened a little when she heard his reply. She knew what it meant to be stubborn or otherwise known as determined as she too was. Even so Rebecca knew when it was time to leave.

After a few seconds past she began to move away from the table her book in her arms. Though when she heard his quiet comment her lips lifted up into a smile. Though she removed it from her face the moment she turned to face the boy who she now noticed as a Ravenclaw.

Walking over to stand next to him she studied the cards. This was one thing of the muggle world she knew well enough about to help others out. Tuning out her thoughts Rebecca looked through the deck of cards looking at each card in turn then suddenly turned to the boy. Smiling she said, "Look through the deck again. Maybe you missed something."

Ezekiel Torch - May 25, 2008 12:07 AM (GMT)
Zeke cast her a look of disbelief. It couldn't possibly be as simple as that?
He reluctantly turned the cards of the deck, one by one, as he spoke.
"But I already tried this, and there's not going to be anything new in he--" he stopped himself, as he had just turned the card he needed.
"Wicked!" he said, the exclamation a bit too powerful to fit his usual laid-back attitude.
"I mean.. that's cool." he said, as he eagerly began placing the cards in their right places. Within a short amount of time, the solitaire was solved.

Zeke's face was one big smile as he proudly looked up at the girl.
"Thanks" he said, with his trademark wry smile and a grateful nod.

Rebecca Emery - May 25, 2008 12:19 AM (GMT)
Rebecca watched as the boy gave her a look of disbelief. He reacted just like any other person she knew would. A lot of time's she noticed people overlooked the simplest problems and made them sound or seem bigger than they already were. Rebecca found that when it happened to her it was best if she just retraced her steps, taking her time. Sooner or later she knew she’d figured out her problem.

Tuning out her thought’s while hearing the boy's sudden exclamation on finding the card Rebecca heard herself laugh. It wasn't every day she saw excitement when playing a card game. Then again as she watched him play on she heard him rephrase his happiness, so to say. She smiled at the action finding it a little amusing.

Once she saw the Ravenclaw finish the game she clapped, though it was soon interrupted as she heard his thanks and watched as he flashed her a wry smile and what seemed to be a grateful nod.

"Your welcome, anytime," Rebecca told him smiling before saying, "Sometimes we over look the simplest things don't we?"

Ezekiel Torch - May 25, 2008 12:27 AM (GMT)
"Sure do" Zeke replied shortly.
His mood had gone up remarkably. He was always a bad loser, and even though he hadn't technically won, since solitaire is a oneperson game, he was still feeling good.

"Have a seat?" he offered, pointing at the chair next to him.
The rain was still pouring down outside and Zeke exhaled deeply as he looked out the window. There was truly nothing better than being warm and comfortable indoors when the rain was falling outside.

Rebecca Emery - May 25, 2008 12:37 AM (GMT)
Rebecca smiled at the boy's short reply a little surprised. Him being a Ravenclaw, she had been waiting for a longer answer. A thoughtful yet witty answer. Then again there Rebecca went judging a person by their house yet again. Something she had been trying not to do. She mentally cursed herself as the boy offered her a seat.

"Thanks," she said flashing him a smile before pulling out a chair beside him and sitting down. Setting her book on the table her blue eyes followed his gaze to the pouring rain outside. It had been that way all day. Keeping her and everyone else inside for the day.

Turning back to the boy slowly Rebecca suddenly remembered she hadn't introduced herself. So extending her hand out to the boy in greeting she announced, "By the way I'm Rebecca, Rebecca Emery."

Ezekiel Torch - May 26, 2008 07:57 PM (GMT)
Shaking her hand shortly then letting go, Ezekiel introduced himself in a more casual way.
"I'm Zeke" he said, and smiled, glancing at the window again.
"I feel ambivalent about rain.. On the one hand I like the cozynes it creates, but on the other, it makes me feel like I'm trapped.. Limited, you know?" he asked, then shook his head at himself.
"I'm sorry - I have no clue why I am burdening you with this useless information" he said with an apologetic smile.

Rebecca Emery - May 26, 2008 08:18 PM (GMT)
"Nice to meet you Zeke," Rebecca replied with a smile before he went on to speak about the rain. Glancing out the window she nodded at his words. She had to agree with him fully. Trapped yet cozy. A weird combination but yet very truthful.

"Yes I know exactly what you mean because I know that's how I feel every time it rains. I'm sure people who love the rain though have a very different opinion," Rebecca said smiling over at Zeke when she heard his next comment. "No don't worry about it. Useless information is what keeps a conversation flowing."

Saying this she glanced as Zeke blue eyes watching him as she asked, "So going back to the game you were playing moments ago....do you often win at solitaire?"

Ezekiel Torch - May 26, 2008 09:58 PM (GMT)
Zeke was about to lie, but decided not to. He sighed.
"Actually, no. In fact, I usually get stuck and annoyed and when I don't have someone around to help me.." he said, glancing at her with a wry smile ".. i give up"
He began randomly playing around with the deck of cards, mixing them in a lot of fancy ways, not to show off, but to have something in his hands.
"No, I prefer card tricks" he admitted, then sighed again.
"I know, pathetic, right? A wizard doing muggle card tricks.. Silly" he said shaking his head slightly.

Rebecca Emery - May 26, 2008 10:42 PM (GMT)
"You know you shouldn't give up so easily. Back track and see if you might have missed something. It's usually always works for me," Rebecca said laughing quietly at the wry smile sent her way. She knew how it felt to get frustrated and want to give up. Hell she'd even given up sometimes. Though usually in the end she would go back and try again knowing giving up wasn't going to get her no where.

Coming out of her thoughts Rebecca watched Zeke as he played with the cards. Hearing him speak she couldn't help but smile and shake her head at what he said. She didn't think it was pathetic at all, especially if it was something he loved to do. She told this to Zeke as she moved in her seat trying to find a more comfortable position.

"Actually I don't find it pathetic at all. Especially since it's something you love to do," Nodding as she said this Rebecca went on to add, "I'm sure there's a lot of students here who enjoy doing muggle things."

Ezekiel Torch - May 26, 2008 11:00 PM (GMT)
"Guess so" he said as he replaced the cards on the table.
"I usually find the magical stuff more interesting, but strangely enough a lot of toys from the muggle world has stayed with me" he said.
"Like yo-yos - I love playing with those. I guess I like how muggle stuff is so easily figured out and down to earth. Sometimes magic can just be too big of a moutful, you know?" he asked, as he noticed she did not bring a book with her.

"Did you come in here to read? I'm sorry if I disturbed something important" he said, smiling in a slightly apologetic way.

Rebecca Emery - May 27, 2008 06:59 PM (GMT)
As Zeke went on to say that most muggle toys had stayed with him since a little kid she briefly wondered if he was muggle born or a half blood. No that a pureblood didn’t know about the muggle world, after all she knew about some of it. It was just most purebloods didn’t have a clue. Muggleborns and half bloods were more prone to know about muggle things.

Coming out of here thoughts Rebecca listened just in time to her about a yoyo. Flashing him a confused look she wondered what a yoyo was. She assumed it must be a muggle toy and couldn’t help but wonder what it exactly did. Nevertheless she was caught out of her stupor when Zeke apologized for disturbing her. Turing to him she shook her head.

“No you didn’t disturb me. Don’t worry. The book I have is something I have to return, but it can wait. I was really looking for a book when I found you,” Rebecca replied smiling over at Zeke her blue eyes turning curious as she asked. “So if you got my confused look earlier I was wondering what is a….yoyo?”

Melanie Carter - May 31, 2008 07:21 AM (GMT)
Melanie searched the shelves in vain. There was not a single solitary book that she wanted to read in that section. Finally her eyes fell on a potions book. She took it and wandered over to a rather busy place where she could see two people and some cards. She sat down next to the boy.
"You don't mind if I sit here do you? I won't bother you I'm just reading and there aren't many other comfy chairs in the library."

Rebecca Emery - May 31, 2008 08:55 PM (GMT)
Rebecca had been watching and waiting for Zeke to answer her question, but before he could they were interrupted by a young Slytherin girl. Watching the girl Rebecca almost frowned, almost being the keyword. It seemed the girl had no use for her and was only speaking to Zeke. Even so she flashed a smile over to the girl, it was in her nature to be nice no matter what. A trait Rebecca couldn’t help but dislike sometimes.

"Well I really don't mind....how about you Zeke?" Turing to glance at Zeke Rebecca waited for his answer. Half hoping he would agree and half hoping he wouldn’t.
