Title: Lesson #1
Sean Avalon - May 24, 2008 09:32 PM (GMT)
Sean Avalon walked onto the grounds to the section where the Flying lessons took place. He was excited to be teaching his first lesson, if he couldn't play Quidditch then this was what he'd want to do.
He laid out twenty or so of the school brooms in two neat rows, allowing enough space between them. Then he stood back and waited for the students to arrive.
Solana Lilly - May 24, 2008 09:43 PM (GMT)
Solana was the first to arrive, and she looked around, selecting the best looking broom on the ground, the one with most of the twigs straight. She was a good flyer, she'd been flying since she was a child and she was taking this class in hopes to learn something from the ex-Quidditch star.
She said a polite 'Hello' to her Professor Avalon then went and stood by her broom and waited for more people to arrive.
Nana Dirks'n - May 25, 2008 01:08 AM (GMT)
Nana walked down the grounds towards her first flying lesson. As she neared the area Nana noticed only one student was there so far. Nana smiled at her professsor and the girl. The professor looked famiar, Quidditch, he was a Quidditch star once. She stood next to a broom that had a downward curved handle and most of the twigs were straight. She was thrilled to have one class that she might excell in.
Muchia Dawson - May 25, 2008 02:20 AM (GMT)
*Muchia walked down onto the ground with his nimbus 2000 in his hand. He felt tht he didn't need flying lessons but he had decided hed take them anyway in hopes to improve his skils. The fact that the proffessor was an ex-chudley cannon was just an added bonus.
He hoped it would be ok to bring his own broom to class and to use it , after all why waste one of the schools brooms when he had his own.*
Anabelle Anderson - May 25, 2008 05:10 AM (GMT)
While she could be considered a smart girl, that meant nothing when it came to flying. She was adequate, but it didn't mean she was good. What would it harm taking a refresher course? After all, she had heard the professor used to be a big quidditch star. Maybe it would improve her skills.
Ana nervously joined the few other students as she walked up to a perfectly good looking broom next to Muchia.
"Hey Muchia. Nice Nimbus," she said smiling. It looked just like the one her brother had received for his birthday not long ago.
Valentina Greysoul - May 25, 2008 09:02 AM (GMT)
Valentina walked over to the field were they would be doing their first quidditch lesson.
She was very excited, especially at the thought that her teacher had been a quidditch player.
Today, Valentina was wearing a long silk cloak with a green jumper and tight black trousers… perfect for flying!
Her mind flew back in time, when she was 4 and she had been flying around on her Star Seeker with her best dress… it had been
terriblly horrible!
She pushed the thoughts away and went near a broom, which looked still quite new, and saluted her teacher with a polite “good morning!”.
She saw three hufflepuff students and one ravenclaw girl.
“hi, guys!” she said happily, while putting some dragon scale gloves.
She waited patiently for the other students to arrive.
April Teagan - May 25, 2008 02:29 PM (GMT)
Arpi lwas angry; she shouldn't have to take flying lessons. She was on the quidditch team for Merlin's sake! But she walked down to the grounds, towards a group of students. She didn't recognize the teacher who would be teaching class. She'd probably be a better flier, she thought quietly.
She carried her won broom; better than any of these crappy school brooms. She entered the group, waiting quietly for class to start. She recognized a few faces, but refused to show her anger in front of them. And she was shaking from anger.
Sean Avalon - May 25, 2008 02:50 PM (GMT)
Sean glanced around at the students that had already arrived. He recognized a few. He checked his watch. Only several minutes until class began. Anyone who arrived late would be punished.
Robyn Singe - May 25, 2008 11:05 PM (GMT)
Robyn ran out to the grounds, hoping that she wasn't late. She tried to be on time, but it seemed all clocks were firmly against her.
Maybe your twin charmed them all.
She's not that smart...
Her own broom was held in her hand. It was the one thing her father was proud of her for, her flying skills. He was against quiditch, he thought it an idiots game, but he loved flying and Robyn coupld fly better than Ravyn.
Robyn's broom was a model that wasn't even released yet, but her father had amazing connections when it came to brooms. Mr.Singe collected brooms, and he had one of every broom model ever created. Robyn was only addicted to the flying part, she didn't even care exactly when the broom was made.
Robyn came next to April.
"Hello April! How are you today, like my hair?" Robyn pointed to the long wavy blonde hair, although it was exactly long, more mid-length. "Did it a few nights ago."
Zane Hart - May 25, 2008 11:09 PM (GMT)
Zane walked into the grounds noticing the teacher, he recognized him Sean Avalon a Quidditch star a greeting as he walked pass him. Zane didn’t know the rest of the students other then Solana who he waved with his free hand the other griping his own broom. He stopped at the end of the line and spun his broom around waiting for class to start.
April Teagan - May 26, 2008 12:38 AM (GMT)
April was happy when she recognized a familar face worth talking to. She turned to Robyn, still angry, but attempted a smile. That's when she saw her hair.
"I LOVE IT! It's really... that was very girl of me. My apoligies. It looks wonderful," she repeated, in a more polite and reserved manner. She snickered. She was still angry, and waiting for this lesson to start and then be done with.
Muchia Dawson - May 26, 2008 02:59 AM (GMT)
Muchia: Hey Anabelle. thanks. I got it last year for my birthday. You looking forward to flying lessons? I hope theyll be good, after all the proffessor is a former cannon.
Anabelle Anderson - May 26, 2008 03:22 AM (GMT)
She thought for a moment.
"Yeah, I think so. I mean, I could definitely use to brush up on my mediocre skills and what better way to do it than with an ex-quidditch star? I've never been that great at flying anyway." she laughed.
She felt like the nerd in school who could probably score decently on any kind of academic test, but still felt completely unnoticed because she'd never played on a sports team. Maybe this could turn things around. Maybe, just maybe, she could become the athletic person she alway's aspired to be.
Solana Lilly - May 26, 2008 04:15 AM (GMT)
Solana saw Zane walk in and waved at him, calling out "Hey! I noticed you this time," then winking.
Sean Avalon - May 26, 2008 04:28 AM (GMT)
Sean had to admit to himself that he was a bit nervous. This was his first class, he was hoping things went by smoothly, he had never taught anyone how to fly before, he just flew himself.
He wondered how big the class's expectations where. He could teach them a lot, he knew that, he was just unsure of how to teach it.
He looked at his watch. Time for class to begin. Anyone else would be late.
"Alright," he said in a loud, carrying voice. "Everyone please be quiet and pay attention. I am Professor Avalon, the new Quidditch instructor. I trust you all read the rules posted in my office."
"Before we begin there are several things I'd like to adress. One, I noticed a lot of you brought your own brooms. As long as they are safe, I have no problem with that,"
"So," he continued, looking around at his class. "I decided that we would begin at the begining. I'm sure that there are some of you here that are good flyers, but there are also others who aren't."
"Everyone stand beside your broomstick and stick your right hand over your broom. Do not let fear show in your voice, calmly say 'Up'"
He waited to see how the class would do,
Zane Hart - May 26, 2008 04:44 AM (GMT)
Zane blinked, the basics he hadn’t done those in a while. He dropped his broom on the ground and stretched out his palm over it. “Up!” He said as the broom rocketed into the palm of his hand.
Melanie Carter - May 26, 2008 05:39 PM (GMT)
Melanie skidded round the corner to take her place beside any old broom. she knew she was going to get detention, but it didn't matter. He had just told them to say up to their brooms. Easy, she said "up" to her broom. It stayed stationary. This was going to be harder than she originally thought.
Anabelle Anderson - May 26, 2008 06:42 PM (GMT)
Ana put her hand over the boom and calmly, but clearly muttered "up". The school broom flew up and once and into her hand.
She was fairly pleased considering she hadn't flown in quite some time. She watched a few other students try and patiently waited for further instruction.
Sean Avalon - May 26, 2008 07:41 PM (GMT)
"Miss. Carter," Said Sean. "Why have you arrived late?"
April Teagan - May 26, 2008 07:57 PM (GMT)
April stood next to her broom, placing it on the ground. She put her hand over the broom easily and said "Up!" loudly and clearly. Several other students stared at her angrily as her broom flew into her hand simply.
Easy job. This class would be an easy A, she had decided. She wauted for the teacher to provide more instructions, but he was too busy yelling at some girl who had attempted to walk in late. She snickered.
Solana Lilly - May 26, 2008 08:15 PM (GMT)
Solana placed her broom on the ground. This was going to be the easiest class she ever took. She had been flying all of her life. Sticking her hand out over the broom, she said "Up."
It soared into her waiting hand and she held it, waiting for the teacher to continue and laughing at the late girl.
Lisette Rasmuse - May 26, 2008 09:29 PM (GMT)
Lisette was sprinting down the path to where the class was meeting. She knew she was late and kenw she would be introuble for it. She had her broom in hand and ran right up to the professor. "Sorry im late." Lis said panting. "I had to help Professor Rasmuse clean up. Shes my cousin and after class, no one had cleaned up and I stayed back to help. Im sorry." Lis hoped this might get her out of trouble, but she didnt get her hopes up.
Sean Avalon - May 26, 2008 10:11 PM (GMT)
"Ah, your cousin is Professor Rasmuse. Well, as a professor, she should know better than to keep a student behind and make them late for another class. Both you and Miss. Carter can report to my office after class for detention."
Then he turned his attention back to the class.
"Alright, if you have managed to successfully call you broom, please mount it using the correct grip. I will be by to adjust incorrect grips before we continue. If you have not called your broom, I suggest you try again."
April Teagan - May 26, 2008 10:22 PM (GMT)
April laughed as the other girl got detention, but she felt bad for Lis. She had just been helping her cousin clean up her room. It hadn't been her fault. However, she wasn't in the mood to get a detention either, so she shut her mouth.
April mounted her broom correctly and put her hand on the broom in the way she had her whole life. She felt idiotic, standing like this while the Professor came up and down the rows, trying to correct faulty grips. She knew she would do fine, since she had flown all her life. She wasn't nervous for this class, as she had been in other ones.
Solana Lilly - May 26, 2008 10:32 PM (GMT)
Solana mounted her broom, then gripped the handle as she had her entire life.
She waited for the teacher to pass by.
Lisette Rasmuse - May 26, 2008 11:25 PM (GMT)
Lisette gave the professor a dirty look when he wasnt looking, then she turned to April. "Can you believe I got a detention for that! Well I hope it isnt too bad." Lis hopped on her broom very routine-like. She had done thins a million times. She waited for the professor to walk by and make sure she was doing everythign right. She knew she was. She waited with a smile on her face.
Robyn Singe - May 26, 2008 11:26 PM (GMT)
Robyn mounted her broom correctly and forced herself not to roll her eyes at the easiness of it all.
Give me a challenge, flying is easy for me!
That is because, like your mother, you are a bird.
Do you really think so?
Yes.
Well that is quite nice of you to say.
Don't expect it.
I'm not.
Yet, Robyn held a soft smile on her lips.
April Teagan - May 27, 2008 12:38 AM (GMT)
"I agree, Lis, a bit ridiculous..." she muttered quietly, so the Professor wouldn't hear her. She just stood next to Lis, holding her broomcorrectly, and waited for the signal to begin flying.
Sean Avalon - May 27, 2008 12:53 AM (GMT)
Sean walked around, making sure everyone's grip was right. He stopped to help Melanie call her broom up, and then help her adjust her grip. Everyone else was fine.
"Alright," he said to the class, "You may now kick off, not to hard and begin to fly. I will join you in the air. Those of you that are good flyers can join me to learn the sloth-grip roll, the rest, just get the hang of flying first."
He smiled and Accioed his firebolt. He could see that Miss. Rasmuse looked p****d off. Perhaps he'd let her off easy...
Lisette Rasmuse - May 27, 2008 01:03 AM (GMT)
Lis looked at April. She gave her a smile and said, "Lets have some fun, shall we April?" Lis said this and hoped that April knew she was up to something. Lisette kicked off the ground and flew around in the air. She was whizzing through the trees and the castle walls. Lis pulled her broom back and waited for April.
April Teagan - May 27, 2008 01:35 AM (GMT)
April listened to the instructor's directions, and kicked off the ground harder than he expected them too. She followed Lis around into the air, soaring through the air happily. She loved to fly, and it was taking away her anger very quickly. Flying was the cure for all, she knew.
"Lets have some fun, shall we April?" Lis screamed. April knew she was up to something. She paused in midair, waiting for the Professor to instruct them on the Sloth Grip Roll. She had never learned particular moves, but she was sure she'd pick up fast. Anything to help her become a better Seeker, after all.
"Ready to learn the Sloth Grip Roll, Lis?" she asked sarcastically, grinning at her. She knew Lis was preparing to do something tricky to the instructor.
Zane Hart - May 27, 2008 01:38 AM (GMT)
Zane mounted his broom and kicked off into the sky sighing, 'boring.' He thought as he hovered above the ground rolling his eyes.
Lisette Rasmuse - May 27, 2008 01:40 AM (GMT)
Lis was still air borne and April had joined her. "What do ya say we both fly REALLY close to the professors head, and not hit him or anything, just have a little fun. What do ya say? Unless you can think of something better." Lis laughed a bit. She was ready to start making mischief.
April Teagan - May 27, 2008 01:46 AM (GMT)
April giggled.
"Give him a second to get everything else under control before we make a commontion. Wouldn't want anyone to fall. Then we'll DEFINATELY get docked some points. And we wouldn't want that. I'll take a detention, after all."
Lisette Rasmuse - May 27, 2008 02:07 AM (GMT)
"Yeah good point April. Lets wait till hes got everyone settled down. Then we will go for it." Lis was ready. She was eager, then a thought came to her. "I already have a detention for this class...do you think he will knock points off since I already am in trouble or maybe Ill get sent to the headmasters...I dunno anymore." Lis hated sounding like a scardey cat, but she didnt want to get into more trouble than necessary.
Muchia Dawson - May 27, 2008 02:34 AM (GMT)
*as soon as proffessor avalon told them they could push off, Muchia pushed off hard. He zoomwed into the air and flew around for a bit. Flying had always been a skill of his. He had been flying sinse before he could remember. He did a few rolls just to warm up for hopefully some serious flying instruction and then pulled up to see how everyone else was fairing.*
Sean Avalon - May 27, 2008 03:23 AM (GMT)
Sean looked at the giggling girls, wondering what they were planning.
"Alright, everyone that knows the basics of flying can join me now." he said, mounting his broom and kicking off hard, enough to send a twinge of pain through his injured knee. He grimmaced and slowed his broom. Then he called out to the class.
"The sloth grip roll is a technique that Quidditch players use usually to avoid being hit by a bludger.
You grip you broom, throw your weight into either one of you shoulders and roll in that direction. The weight you throw will carry you and you'll roll around once in midair. Afterwards make sure you brake and stop your broom or you'll keep rolling and fall off."
He steading his broom and followed his own directions, successfully completing the sloth grip roll.
Robyn Singe - May 27, 2008 12:32 PM (GMT)
Robyn kicked off, and sighing, crossed her arms patiently to listen to the rest of the instructions. She'd learned this "roll" from one of her flying tutors, they figured she would be allowed to play quiditch so they taught her most things about it. Robyn was not, however, allowed to play. If she went behind her fathers back and signed up, she would no longer have brooms and would be homeschooled.
Robyn did the roll expertly, and stopping hovered for a moment. She'd gotten a bit dizzy and shaking her head she crossed her arms again and waited.
Anabelle Anderson - May 27, 2008 02:51 PM (GMT)
Ana kicked up off the ground to catch up with the others and watched the professor roll so expertly.
She took a deep breath, gripped her broom, and rolled to the right. She did quite well, only she was a little shakey coming out of it.
"This isn't so bad," she thought to herself.
Ravyn Singe - May 27, 2008 05:11 PM (GMT)
Ravyn knew she was late but she slipped in anyway. Robyn had been messing with her watches again, but she said nothing.
She mounted the broom identical to Robyn's and kicked off. She did the roll, and stopped perfectly. Ravyn gave a sigh.
This was pure boredom.
