Title: Strawberries and smokes

Ezekiel Torch - May 26, 2008 06:00 PM (GMT)
It was getting a bit darker outside as Zeke placed the bowl of strawberries on the grass before sitting down in a crosslegged position.
"You wanna sit on my coat, the grass is kind of wet" he asked, but didn't wait for an answer before spreading his coat on the grass next to him for April to sit on.
"The least I can do since I'm dragging you out here" he said with his usual wry smile.
He dexterously got out his muggle matchbook and a smoke, then lit it and quickly replaced the matchbook in his inner pocket.
He inhaled deeply, closing his eyes shortly to enjoy the satisfaction of nicotine.
"Ah," he said, eyes still closed, "if there's one good thing to say about addictions: they are there for you no matter how bad a hairday you're having"

April Teagan - May 26, 2008 06:07 PM (GMT)
April sat on Zeke's jacket, though she felt it was a bit unfair for her to be taking his jacket. He ought to be sitting on it, since the grass was a bit wet. She ran her fingers off the dewy blades, but made no attempt to move. The boy was nice; she wouldn't want to be rude.

"Thank you, the grass is a bit wet," she mentioned, holding up her now soaked hand. She wiped it off on her robes and giggled.

The smell of cigarette smoke hung in the air. She was used to the smell; Tyler smoked back home, although she found it repulsive. She was unsure where he had picked up the habit, but it had been a normal addition to the times they spent together, under the trees. She inhaled the familiar scent and could almost imagine him here, but not just. She would write to him soon.

"Familiar smell," she finally said. "I wondered though, how did you get those here?" she asked, pointing to the pack of cigarettes. "Did you bring them, or do you have someone send them? They surely don't sell them in Hogsmeade."

Ezekiel Torch - May 26, 2008 06:26 PM (GMT)
Zeke smiled mischieviously as he opened his eyes.
"Sorry, love, but a magician's got his secrets.. I have my connections, let's leave it at that" he said, smiling. He did have a lot of trouble getting his smokes but had learned that a couple of sevenyears had made quite the business out of selling them.
Truth was, however, that Zeke was rather light-fingered and had more than once stolen cigarettes from pupils as well as teachers.
He wasn't proud of it, but this was another part of being addicted: he would do most anything to get what he craved.
"Familiar? You used to smoke?" he asked, avoiding to explain further.

April Teagan - May 26, 2008 07:19 PM (GMT)
April had, of course, noticed that Zeke was being a little tricky. She smiled, knowing that this boy was only step away from Slytherin, and that was his blood. Unfortunate, he'd do well in Slytherin. She sighed, wanting to know these secret ways that he was getting what he needed. Not that April needed cigarettes, but it was always good to know the secrets of the castle.

"Familiar? You used to smoke?"
Zeke asked, and April shook her head right away. April tried to stay away from bad Muggle habits. She had never gotten over her obsession with biting her nails, however. She bit at them now, nervously.

"No, no. No bad Muggle habits for me," she said. "My best friend back home, Tyler, picked up the habit a few years ago. He's a wizard though, so I'm not sure where he got it... but I'm used to the smell by now."

April laughed fondly, lost in memories. The smell clung to her clothes and his, worn at home and outside. The constant questions by her parents of bad habits being picked up, and her laughing... Years ago it seemed to her now.

"The smell was all over my Muggle clothes back home... So, I'm a bit used to it by now."

Ezekiel Torch - May 26, 2008 07:40 PM (GMT)
"I see" he said, sensing that she was somewahat abscent.
"My whole family smokes, though my mother doesn't know that I do.. I'm not quite sure I am even able to tell whether something smells of smoke or not anymore" he said taking another drag of his cigarette.
"This Tyler.. A boyfriend, or no?" he said, showing that he was interested in getting to know her better.

April Teagan - May 26, 2008 07:52 PM (GMT)
April watched as Zeke took another drag of his cigarrette. Silly Muggle habit. He exhaled the secondhand smoke, and April leaned away from it. There were cooler ways to die.

"This Tyler.. A boyfriend, or no?" Zeke asked, sounding interested. April smiled but shook her head, no.

"My best friend, since I was little. He's my sister's age, out of school now. A little too old for me, or well, my sister thinks. But we're just friends."

She thought for a second and then coughed. Her cheeks were a bit red as she asked her next question.

"Do you have a... well, a girlfriend, then?"

Ezekiel Torch - May 26, 2008 09:19 PM (GMT)
He nodded.
"You know they say there's no age limit for love, though.. But friends are good to have, not always worth jeopardizing for a quick whiff of love.." he said thoughtfully.

Zeke put out the last ember of the cigarette then put the butt in his pocket. He was not one to leave behind a mess.

"Nah, me? Nope, no girlfriend.. And no boyfriend either" he said, playfully.
" I'm free as a bird" he said, smiling.

April Teagan - May 26, 2008 09:33 PM (GMT)
April laughed; she liked his humor, although she wasn't sure if the crack at having a boyfriend was a joke or not. However, she didn't ask. She liked Zeke because he was secretive, and secrets were always good to have.

"You're very mysterious, aren't you? Shrouded in myserty." she added thoughtfully, looking at the sky for a moment. She watched as Zeke put the butt in his pocket, not leaving behind any messes. Very interesting of him... indeed.

"And I agree about the age and love. Love knows no limits, in my opinion..." she trailed off. She was very curious about Zeke, but was unsure of how to approach his life without seeming rude or too nosy.

"So... about this potential boyfriend you don't have..." April said, laughing, but not saying anything else. If he wished to say anything, he would. If not, she kne whim well enough to change topics.

Ezekiel Torch - May 26, 2008 09:51 PM (GMT)
"Mystery is my middle name.." he said ans raised an eyebrow.
"You're right about the limitless love.. At least that's how it should be" he agreed.

"So... about this potential boyfriend you don't have..."

"Oh yeah, I would make some guy very happy" he said laughing slightly.

"No, actually I did have a muggle girlfriend over the summer, but there was just so much left unshared, you know?" Zeke said, looking at her. Truth was he had had quite a lot of flings and flirts, but Zeke did not consider them too important. He was easily fascinated by, and following attracted to, people, but was not one to get too involved emotionally. He liked being free to do whatever he fancied.

"Any other personal questions you want to shoot my way?" he asked, offering an opportunity to make the conversation a tad deeper.

April Teagan - May 26, 2008 09:57 PM (GMT)
April liked the way the conversation was going, because she was anxious to know more about the mysterious Zeke. She laughed.

"Okay, sure. Two stupid questions first."

April took a breath, and popped another juicy strawberry into her mouth, buying her some time about how to phrase her next questions. She sighed a bit, swallowed the red berry, and proceeded.

"First, what is your realy middle name. Unless, mystery really is it?" she asked.

"And second, do you really date boys, or is that simply a joke?"

Ezekiel Torch - May 26, 2008 10:24 PM (GMT)
"Oh no, it's really Mystery" he said, being jokingly serious, then smiled.
"It's Jonathan, my grandfather's name, but I don't really use it, only when signing really official letters and such.." he said.
He hesitated slightly at her next question, not because it made him uncomfortable, but because he was thinking of how to answer it right.
"I... don't, usually. Not really, at least. I wouldn't mind, though, as I said I agree that love should be limitless.. However, I prefer females." he said, tilting his head. He knew he had left a few things a bit unclear, but that was how he liked it.

"Anything else? I am open, something you probably won't see all that often" he said, truthfully. Most of the time he was a bit reserved, at least to people he had not known for a long time but he was feeling good in this moment.

April Teagan - May 26, 2008 10:35 PM (GMT)
April smiled at his joke about his middle name. Jonathan... she liked that. A much more common name than Ezekiel, she realized, smiling. Very unlike him, since he wasn't a very common person. He was much different, and that was what attracted her to him.

She also like the idea of Zeke being open to anything in love. April agreed in that philosophy.

"Love being limitless... that's very interesting. I suppose... that would include dating the same sex. I've never thought of it that way..." she trailed off. She pondered that for a moment, then shook her head. She was more interested in guys of course, but she didn't think she would say no to love presented by a girl. Hm.

"Anything else? I am open, something you probably won't see all that often" Zeke asked truthfully. April liked this about him. an open and honest person, for once. She was very much the same.

"You are quite open. As am I. So, I'll ask a question, and you answer. Then you ask me one. And so forth. Deal?" she asked, then proceeded to her question.

"Have you ever been in love? I mean, real love, not a 2 month deal with the girl down the street."

Ezekiel Torch - May 26, 2008 10:49 PM (GMT)
"Deal" he said confidently. He always liked these sort of things since they allowed you to get to know the other person without it becoming all cross-examination-like. Besides, he liked April's straight-forwardness, since it was a bit boundary-breaking. Zeke usually liked anything out of the ordinary.
"Though I have one restriction - none of these 'And you?' questions. You can ask if you want to know, but copying the other person's question does not count for a question, agreed?"

"Hey, hey - I thought we just agreed that love is limitless, so two months or a single day can count as love, no? 'Limitless' includes no time-limitations.." he said, half joking. He wouldn't refer to one day of awe as love.
"But to answer your question instead of shooting it down.." he said,
"No. I am yet to prove myself the 'real deal love' kind of fellow"

He knew what he wanted to ask her.

"What's your worst and best characteristic?"
He always enjoyed hearing how people saw themselves. Most found it hardest to mention the good feature, and he looked at April, curious to know her answer.

April Teagan - May 26, 2008 11:02 PM (GMT)
"I agree on your resitriction as well," she added honestly, making sure to remember not to repeat his questions exactly. She smiled.

"What's your worst and best characteristic?" he asked, and April blinked a few times. That was a very hard question. She wasn't sure if she even knew of a truly good characteristic of herself, to say aloud, that wouldn't sound overly cocky.

"Well, my worst characteristic would be that I am too outspoken. I speak my mind too often, with no regards to the feelings of others or consequences." It was very true, and her father and mother constantly warned her against it. "Now, some may think that being outspoken is good, but it had gotten me into a spot of trouble at some points, at which time only fancy wandwork got me out of." She winked devilishly.

"As for my best trait... well. Hm." She was forced to stop and think about that, because she truly was not sure.

"I think my best trait is accepting others, for who they are. Some people are naturally good at that, so it doesn't seem like much of a 'best trait' material, but I come from a prejudiced family. It's hard for me to overcome stereotypes. But, over time, I've become a much more accepting person; more so, I'd say, than any other Slytherin. I think that sets me aside from those in my house."

She took a sigh of relief.

"I hope that's a good enough response. It's hard to be so introspective. Now for your question."

"How do you think your family feels about you being a wizard?"

Ezekiel Torch - May 26, 2008 11:13 PM (GMT)
Zeke nodded as she spoke.
"Yeah, I know - it is a rather hard questions.. those were good answers though - I believe being outspoken and accepting others are often connecting? I mean if you get to speak your mind it's only natural to let others do the same, right?" he said thoughtfully.
He couldn't help smiling though - she had lived up to his expectations and hesitated at mentioning her good personal qualities. Perhaps modesty was just human.

Zeke laughed a bit when she asked
"Oh, now that's real easy to answer. They absolutely hate it. My father never fully understood the concept of magic and refuses to talk about it when I'm home, and my mother is certain to shake her head at most anything I feel passsionate about, including magic. I think the best part of coming here was getting away from them, not because I hate them or anything, but a guy can only take so much indifference, you know? Nothing was ever good enough, but I guess it toughened me. And don't worry - I'm not one of those 'oh-my-childhood-was-so-tough' kinda guys" he said with a smile.

"Hm, what to ask you.. what do you wanna do when you grow up? Not just what career but with life in general?"

April Teagan - May 26, 2008 11:21 PM (GMT)
April nodded, understanding his analysis. She listened intently to his discoveries about his family, and the relation to magic.

"Well, personally, I'm just glad I was born into magic, and didn't have it hard like you. But I won't pity you, because you don't want that, I'm sure."

"Hm, what to ask you.. what do you wanna do when you grow up? Not just what career but with life in general?" he asked. Another hard one, damn. She was in for a tough conversation. She was so bad with analyzing herself and her motives sometimes.

"Well, for a career, I either want to teach here, or another magical school, in History of Magic or Potions; or, I want to work in the Ministry. I'm looking into being an auror maybe, but perhaps that's beyond my boundries."

"As for where to go in my life, I just want to suceed. I'm looking to be more like my father than my mother, whose a bit lazy. I don't want to marry and let my husband do everythin, or anything like that. I like to be independant, and I defnately want to fufill my life, for all that;s it's worth."

"In specific, I definately, want to visit France after school, and more countries after that. I'd love to see the world and its' cultures." She took a breath and looked sheepishly at him.

"I talk a lot, I know. Now, for your question... Give me three words to describe yourself, whether it be negatively or positively, and explain them."

Ezekiel Torch - May 27, 2008 09:18 PM (GMT)
"Nah, pity wad never my thing" he agreed.

"Well, for a career, I either want to teach here, or another magical school, in History of Magic or Potions; or, I want to work in the Ministry. I'm looking into being an auror maybe, but perhaps that's beyond my boundries."

"Hey, boundaries are made to be broken, that's the way I see it.. All that stuff sounds really nice, and meaningful.." he said, honestly.
As she spoke of how she wanted to travel, Zeke smiled.
"I know that feeling. I thought the world was big when I just knew the muggle one. Now there's pretty much twice as much to see.. I can't wait to get to travel, either. Exploring is always great." he said.

At April's question, Zeke had to think a bit
"Ah, right on, that's a tough one.. Describe myself? Then I'm going to have to say stubborn, which is both good and bad since it has definately cost me a few friendships not being willing to compromise. On the other hand I think determination can get you nearly anywhere.. For the second word I'll say honest because the one thing I truly cannot stand is when people pretend to be someone they're not .. And the third.." he said, without realising it fiddling with the muggle matchbook. Looking down at his hands he smiled. "I'm always fiddling with stuff, so I guess the last word would be dexterous."

"Now for your next question.. If you could have absolutely anything right now, what would it be?"

April Teagan - May 27, 2008 09:30 PM (GMT)
April did notice that Zeke was a little bit... what was the word he used. Oh yes, dexterous. He was playing with his matchbook, after all. April laughed with him about this, because she thought it was a very cute personality trait.

"Now for your next question.. If you could have absolutely anything right now, what would it be?" Zeke asked.

Ouch. That was a very difficult question to answer, because, meterialistically, she could probably have just about anything. But, materials and things weren't something she really wanted. Perhaps, look a bit deeper...

"Anything? Well, not to be snobbish, but materialistic wise, I could probably buy myself anything. So, stuff is out. No, I wouldn''t want something that money could buy anyways."

"I guess, if I could have anything, it could be happiness. Just, pure happiness. Though I'm not depressed or even remotely sad, but I guess I can't remember that sort of, carefree happiness you have when you're a child. I want to have something like that, no matter what it takes to get it back. Maybe it's love, or success, or intelligience, or friendship. I'm not sure. But if I could have anything, I would want happiness."

"Your turn then. You're trapped on a island, and you can only bring one thing. Not your wand. What would it be?"

Ezekiel Torch - May 27, 2008 09:59 PM (GMT)
Zeke didn't let it show on his face, but he found her answer a bit.. well, cliché was perhaps the best word. However as he got to thinking, it made sense. Especially when she began speaking about the carefree-childhoodlike happiness. He did remember that, though only very briefly.
He felt bad for a moment since his answer would most likely have been something materialistic.

"Your turn then. You're trapped on a island, and you can only bring one thing. Not your wand. What would it be?"

Zeke did not even have to think. He answered promptly and shortly.
"A boat."

Often feeling like he had too much time on his hand, Zeke had found himself thinking about stuff like this before. He had never spoken these seemingly unimportant thoughts out loud, though.

"I easily get bored if I'm alone for too long. I need the inspiration that other people give me" he said, explaining a bit further.

"Now.. if you had to give up either your ability to hear, see or speak, which would it be?"

April Teagan - May 27, 2008 10:26 PM (GMT)
April laughed at the bluntness of Zeke's answer. Too logical for her to think about, although she would have said broom probably. A more Muggle type answer for Zeke, but to be expected. She liked his sense of humor and deep wits. Very smart answer.

"Now.. if you had to give up either your ability to hear, see or speak, which would it be?" Zeke answer.

Damn. Another hard one. April wasn't really too sure on that one at all, but didn't want to lie. She though it through carefully, then spoke slowly.

"Wel, honestly, losing any of them would be a complete loss to me. But, I'd have to say speaking. Although I love to talk, I could probably just magic the words to appear in midair, could I not? I'm sure there's some sort of spell. I like to hear other people talk, and it would be hard to get by life without hearing... And seeing is just too important to me. I need to be able to see the world through my own eyes."

She hoped that answer was thoughtful enough. Seeing was too important to her, although losing speech would be a terrible thing. She had remembered when she younger and had been silencio-ed by her parents before she could do magic... it was horrifying.

"Let's see... If you were a criminal in jail, would it be for stealing, or lying under oath?"

Ezekiel Torch - May 27, 2008 10:44 PM (GMT)
"I suppose there would be some kind of magic solution to it - I don't recall ever having met a witch or wizard who could not speak.. I suppose that would be my answer too, the other too are just crucial" he said, her answer having convinced him.

"Let's see... If you were a criminal in jail, would it be for stealing, or lying under oath?"

Zeke's face turned into a frown.
April probably wasn't aware of the fact that her rather innocent question had hit a nerve in Zeke. He at once fell silent.
The question had painfully reminded him of how he could not seem to stop 'borrowing' things that rightfully belonged to other people.
It was a part of him he did not wish to accept, yet a part he could not let go of - he was a cleptomaniac, although he had never said that word aloud. Still, if anyone should happen to look beneath his bed they would see a bunch of things that did not belong to Zeke. He did not steal from his friends and never from someone who were worse off financially than him. But sometimes he just could not help it.
The mood between them were very different as he turned to her, looking her straight in the eye as he spoke.
"I don't lie" was all he said before he looked away. He did not offer another question in return.

April Teagan - May 27, 2008 11:51 PM (GMT)
April felt the mood change around them. Obviously, the question had not been appropriate. There April went, ruining good moments with her extremely rude outakes. She really needed to learn to be less outspoken. She wished she would have known this before hand.

Clearly, Zeke may have some sort of a problem with stealing. April herself stole, sometimes. It wasn't a nice thing to do, but it happened. It was an interesting quality in Zeke, and she didn't look down on him for it. Some people just had bad things about them that no one else knew about. Secrets. More mystery regarding Zeke.

She placed her hand on Zeke's shoulder casually, and lifted his head up to look at her.

"I'm sorry if I offended you in any way. Of course you don't lie. Is there something else you might want to tell me?" she asked, sounding sincerely apologetic. April rarely said sorry to anyone; but then again, she very rarely admitted her was wrong.

"You are very mysterious... but you can share your secrets with me, Zeke."

Ezekiel Torch - June 3, 2008 10:48 PM (GMT)
Zeke wasn't sure how to react to this reply.
He had half expected her to walk away and the fact that she didn't made him feel good and scared at the same time. Their conversation had turned out to be a lot different than what he had expected: more meaningful.
As she lifted his head he merely looked in her eyes for a moment, but in them he saw no sign of ridicule, no dishonesty.
To his great surprise, he trusted her, and decided to tell her so.

"I trust you" he said, shortly, then added "but I'm not sure I can talk about this stuff.. at least not at the moment.." his voice trailed off, but he knew he had to say something more.
"I'm sorry.." he said, his voice small. He had no right to react like that and he knew it.

April Teagan - June 4, 2008 12:29 AM (GMT)
April tried to smile helpfully, knowing it must take a lot of courage for someone she had just met to trust her. She was a Slytherin after all... and barely more than strangers. However, she felt much more deeply connected to him than anybody she had met thus far... except perhaps Robyn, who was probably her best friend here. she felt bad for upsetting him, and wasn't sure how to continue thier conversation. She wanted to see him smile once more.

"You don't need to be sorry. Understandable, everyone has parts of thier life they don't feel comfortable talking about, especially not right away." She paused, smiling slowly at him.

"I'm sorry to have brought this sensitive area up with you. Do you still feel like talking, or do you want to go? It's your turn to ask a question, and you can ask me anything."

Ezekiel Torch - June 4, 2008 10:45 PM (GMT)

Zeke looked at her for a moment, then his usual wry smile spread across his face, giving it a boyish look for a second.
"You are awfully nice for a Slytherin.. But don't worry - I won't tell anyone" he said, jokingly. He had no reason to keep being in a bad mood. April seemed to be very understanding and, unlike most people, able to make him feel calm.

"I don't wanna go.." he said truthfully. "Though I don't have a question right now.. If you do, feel free to ask. I promise I won't become all.. " he finished the sentence by imitating the serious look that had been on his face only moments earlier, then smiled widely.

April Teagan - June 4, 2008 10:53 PM (GMT)
April laughed at Zeke's playful puppy dog face.

"Yes, don't become a sad, paethetic puppy. We wouldn't want that again," she joked, nudging him a little. She moved her hand from his face now, feeling a little awkward. She wasn't sure how he felt about her touch. Her cheeks went a little pink.

"And yeah, please don't tell my housemates I'm nice. It'll give away too much," she said, laughing and winking at him. She felt really comfortable around him, and it was a really great feeling for her.

"Okay, I have a question. Do you feel like you and I... connect in any way?" She wasn't sure how she meant the question, so she hoped he would take it the way she had said it and just answer.

Ezekiel Torch - June 11, 2008 12:47 AM (GMT)
Zeke smiled, now completely cheered up again. He was becoming sick and tired of his mood changing all the time, and lately this was happening a lot.
He grinned as she nudged him and didn't mind at all. However, he felt a sudden shyness or hesitation in the way April was acting. He figured she probably didn't think they knew each other well enough to be acting like this.
"Yeah, no, I promise - wouldn't want to ruin your cold-hard-surface-Slytherin image" he said jokingly as an answer, before listening to her question.

As April spoke, Zeke kept his eyes on her, detecting her face for any kind of clue of what the question was supposed to mean. He didn't really find any, so he hesitated a little, considering the question.
After a moment he answered steadily.
"Yes." he said, because this was the truth. He did feel a connection between them, but wasn't quite able to put his finger on which. He decided to let April know this as well.
"Though I am not quite sure in which way exactly, yet" he said as he smiled wryly and tilted his head, his eyes still on her face.

April Teagan - June 11, 2008 06:58 PM (GMT)
April nodded her head, understanding the confusio nthat clouded Zeke's answer. She wasn't sure how she felt the connection, but she did. She wanted to know, so she could let him know, but she really didn't get it. After all, they had just met. She knew, through time, they would both better understand each other and thier intentions.

"That's how I feel too. I just wanted to see if you saw the same things I do," she said, trying to clarify her intentions.

"Also, I didn't mean to make the situation awkward or anything." She shifted for a moment, and then looked up at him. He was staring at her, with an odd expression on his face. She smile lightly, trying to relax him.

"Have you ever played... would you rather?" she asked, not knowing if he had. It was a bit of a Muggle game, so perhaps he had heard of it.

Ezekiel Torch - June 12, 2008 08:44 AM (GMT)
"No harm done" he said as an answer to her comment of how she didn't want to make things awkward.

Zeke's face spread into a smile as she spoke of the game 'would you rather'. He had indeed played. At summercamps, sleepovers, breaks in muggle school.. his friends at home seemed to have loved this game.
Zeke always found it a bit silly, but he imagined that April might be able to come up with some good questions, so he simply nodded.

"Yes, I have.. wanna play?" he said, figuring that was why she had asked.

"Ok, I'll go first though I usually come up with strange ones... let me see.." he let his gaze wander across the lake.

"Would you rather be able to foretell the future or change the past?" he asked, his eyes still on the lake. He hoped she wouldn't find his question too stupid.

April Teagan - June 12, 2008 02:23 PM (GMT)
April was glad that Zeke knew how to pla, and wanted to. She liked to spend time with him, and games like these usually passed the time, but not too quickly. She was also ready to get to know him, and knew that this was a good way to do that. Asking stupid questions definately helped bring out a person's character.

"Would you rather be able to foretell the future or change the past?"

"Well, I don't think I'd want to know the future. I'm scared of future things anyways. So, I guess I'd rather be able to change the past. It could come in handy."

"Would you rather be forced to live in the Muggle world forever, never seeing Wizards, or be forced to live i nthe magical world, never seeing Muggles?"

Ezekiel Torch - June 12, 2008 09:24 PM (GMT)
"Yeah, I agree.. thinking about the future can be scary, but actually being able to tell it?" he said, shaking his head.

As April posed her question Zeke scratched his head.
"Arh, that's a really tough one since that means choosing between my muggle family and friends and everyone I know here.." he said, the part about his family not really that important.
"But if I had to choose, I'd stay in the magical world. After all, I have a lot more in common with the people I've met here" he said, truthfully.

"Um.. okay, would you rather find true love or a million pounds?" he asked, looking at her.

April Teagan - June 12, 2008 09:37 PM (GMT)
April liked Zeke's answer, knowing that for her, the question would have been ten times easier. She had nothing to live for in the Muggle world, really. She'd do well with a break from them, anyways. And Zeke's answer made a lot of sense, since he was surely a brilliant wizard.

"Um.. okay, would you rather find true love or a million pounds?"

"Are you saying I'm shallow?" she joked, and then laughed. "I have enough money, I think. Either way, true love. I'm a romantic," she clarified.

"Hmm... would you rather be an international famous quidditch player, or the greatest Auror in the department?"

Ezekiel Torch - June 12, 2008 09:52 PM (GMT)
"Just had to check" he said as an answer to hers. "I mean, if you had chosen the money I think I might have had to leave" he said, with a smile. Anyone who put material stuff above emotions were strange to Zeke.
"Though a million pounds wouldn't be bad" he said, nodding.

At her next question, Zeke smiled widely.
"Ah, that's incredibly easy. I'd be an Auror, no doubt" he said.
"Mainly because I couldn't ride a broomstick to save my life" he said, truthfully.
"I'm not exactly a fan of heights when there is nothing but a stick seperating me from the air" he said, smiling.

"Hm.. okay, I'll stick with the romantic theme.. Would you rather love or be loved?" he asked.

April was glad that Zeke had chosen to be an Auror. She wasn't sure which one that she'd choose, but she knew that Zeke seemed the type to be an Auror. It didn't seem like too much fame would really be his thing either. April laughed about not liking heights, either.

"Hm.. okay, I'll stick with the romantic theme.. Would you rather love or be loved?"

April had to think about that one deeply. She knew which answer would seem most appropriate, but she didn't think it was true about herself, and thats what was important her. Answering truthfully.

"I think I'd rather be loved honestly. I'm not much for loving someone who has no feelings in return. Although, that's not to say I don't love people... but I'd rather know that I was loved before committing myself to something too deeply."

She hoped that was sufficient enough for him.

"Would you rather have loved and lost, or never loved at all?"

(Ignore this.)

He nodded at her answer, agreeing completely. It was a good an honest answer, an this particular one made him feel like he had gotten to know something a bit deeper about April. He liked that.

Zeke too had to think hard before he answered.

"The first. This may sound incredibly corny, but love is basically what it's all about isn't it? Besides, I like to live a risky life, and I take chances on most everything else, so I don't see why love should be an exception" he said, turning his eyes from the lake and looking straight into hers. The was a moment of odd silence between them and Zeke thought he sensed something, though he wasn't exactly sure what to do with himself.

"Um, I.." he said, looking away, a bit confused. He failed to ask another 'would you rather'.

April Teagan - June 12, 2008 10:45 PM (GMT)
April liked Zeke's answer, because that's the answer she would have chosen, so she was glad theat they had similar feelings. She smiled at him warmly, and he was now staring at her. E didn't ask a new question, and he actually seemed to look a little shy.

She wasn't sure why he was acting like this, but she felt it too. A sort of spark, but she didn't know what it was. They were really close now. Zeke had said he was a risk taker... she wondered if he would take a risk with her. She didn't know.

She moved really slowly, and kissed him really lightly. It lasted a few seconds, and then she pulled back and smiled at him shly, though she didn't know if that had been okay. He was a really closed up person.

Ezekiel Torch - June 12, 2008 11:22 PM (GMT)
For a second, Zeke didn't actually get what was happening. But he did know one thing: it felt nice.
As April kissed him he felt a warmth running through him. As she pulled back he merely sat there for a second, his eyes still on hers.
He wondered whether to say something or not, but figured that he wasn't going to, since words would probably ruin the moment.
Instead he did the only thing that felt right, as he leaned in on her and let his lips meet hers, softly, without a hint of hesitation, but still allowing her to pull back if she wished.

April Teagan - June 12, 2008 11:30 PM (GMT)
April liked the feel of Zeke's lips on hers, so she didn't pull back this time. She had hesistated before, only for his benefit, so she didn't deny the fact that she was enjoying herself now. She was overjoyed that he hadn't felt awkward after her kiss. She knew she was good at making the first move.

She pushed the kiss a little deeper, and allowed her hands to loop around his neck gently. She knew what the connection between them was, and she hadn't misinterpreted it. This was the first time since coming to Hogwarts that she had really felt a spark with anyone this way.

She pulled back eventually, not wanting to get carried away on the grounds, where people may or may not be watching. She didn't like to have an audience with these things, as she typically was a private person with specific things, such as this.

"Was that okay?" she asked gently, but at the same time, knowing that it was. She was smiling from ear to ear, happy that this conversation had gone a good way, and not badly.

Ezekiel Torch - June 12, 2008 11:41 PM (GMT)
Zeke let himself fall into the kiss completely, forgetting everything around him for as long as it lasted.
The physical part of this conversation was a great way to top it off, since he felt they had connected as they had been speaking as well. It seemed only natural to kiss.

As April pulled back, Zeke merely smiled.
"It was magnificent.. And as a bonus.." he said as he kissed her cheek, then her neck, shortly. He pulled back and looked at her.
".. you taste of strawberries"

He grinned wryly, then removed a piece of hair that had fallen into her face with a soft movement.
Zeke didn't want to rush things forward, and he figured it was probably best to leave it at this for now, considering the fact that they were in the grounds and all. It was getting rather dark out, and just a bit chilly.
He leaned back as he smiled at her and put his hand on hers.
