Pearl walked up to the town late one night to get some alone time. Everyone seemed to find there nitch in school, found someone who liked them for who they were and nothing more then that. Pearl wished she could find that, she thought she did but it was all a lie. She doesnt trust anyone but herself. Secretly she wisjed someone would just prove themselves to her but who was she kidding. She sighed and took a seat on the rather cold stone floor. She gazed up at the deep blue sky and the stares reflected in her green eyes. She had to addmit nothing was more beautiful the a clear night sky from the top of the tower.

Jesse was bored with sitting around the common room pondering life, so he headed up to the astronomy tower. He was quite interested in space and what magic might call its home up there. As he reached the top of the tower, he noticed a girl sitting on the floor staring into the night sky. Jesse was about to turn around and leave so he wouldn't interupt the girls daze when he sneezed very loud.

*Oi, perfect, another smooth move.* he thought to himself.

"I'm so sorry" he told the stranger.

"I really didn't mean to bother."

Pearl heard the sneeze and the appology. In all honest it had startled her because she was jumpy in the dark as it is but Pearl being as well composed and having the refusal t let anyone know she had a weakness merely lifted her wand and said

"Lumos" Standing before her was a boy from what she could see at least. She raised her wand a bit so the light flooded over a face. She would have cracked a smile because of the look of slight embarassment on his face but once again she never showed her emotion.

"It's fine." She said in a rather flat voice.

Jesse squinted with the strangers wand in his face. He had to put a hand up to shield himself from so much light.

"Do you want me to leave you alone? I feel like a jerk." he said to her with a very red face and an eyefull of the back of his hand.

Seeing his hand fly up to shade his eyes from the light she lowered her wand feeling a bit silly for whiping it out in the first place.

" You can stay." She said almost longing for some company in the dark night. "I don't like the dark much." She mentally kicked herself. How could she have actually spilt a secret that know one knew to a complete stranger.

Jesse slowly put his hand down and said, "Thanks. I don't blame you, there's a lot of weird things that can happen at this place in the dark. My name's Jesse."

He held out a hand for the girl to shake and gave her a smile and an inviting nod.

Pearl lightly shook his hand and turned on her charm.

"I'm Pearl, Pearl Levie." Her tone was on the verge of being snotty but she smiled as she said it. Almost as though to make up for her tone she then said

`"Nice to meet you." Once again she mentaly scolded herself for being soft. She couldn't trust anyone especialy a guy. She then gave her wand a little wave and said " There's nothing out there I can't handle." Her tone wasn't cold but confident and slightly cocky.

Jesse wasn't really sure how to take her last comment. After a few very awkward seconds of silence, he spoke.

"Well, I'll remember that next time I come creeping up behind you." he said with a laugh.

"So what brings you up here Pearl? he asked

Pearl thought about it for a second before answering.

" It's away from everyone, so I can think and be on my own." Her voice hadpicked up it's usual flat tone. She looked off into the sky for a moment. "But let me guess, you came here for about the same reasons? To think." It sounded slightly sarcastic but not enough to call her out on it. Pearl had mastered using these kind of tones.

Jesse wasn't very surprised at her answer. He felt kind of stupid for even asking.

"I actually just got bored and came up here in search of some inspiration. I'm trying to write a new song and sitting in the boys dorm or common room just isn't cutting it anymore." he replied.

"I tend to get very lost in thought, so I coame here, a place where, if seen, it doesn't seem so unusual." he said to Pearl with a smirk. Jesse could tell she was expecting a completely different answer by the look on her face.

Pearl paused and looked at him. So maybe he wasn't as cliche as everyone else here but so what, it didn't mean anything. She really didn't mind the company but her unstincts kept telling her to trust no one.

"Oh, my mistake." The light from her wand was still shinning and she had to admit it took awayfrom the beauty of the sky. "Nox." The light currenty shinning on both of their faces was stop abruptly and was no longer blinding jesse
