Melanie collapsed next to the Beech tree. It had been a tough day. She delved in her bag and pulled up the Skill Of The Dark Arts novel she had been reading all day.
The lazy sunshine floated across her body illuminating it. It was comfortable in the shade of the Beech tree. Everyone was shouting, splashing in the lake or just generally making a lot of noise.
Melanie scanned the contents and started to read chapter twelve. A blissfull, and peaceful sunny day.

Zane was several feet into the air lying down on his broom. He looked down at all the students playing mostly first or second years he thought as his eyes drifted to a lone girl reading under a tree. “Well, considering she seems to be the only sane one here I suppose ill say hello.” He brought his broom stick down and hung from it by his legs behind and above the girl reading long with her. “Good book.” He whispered waiting to see her reaction. .

Melanie jumped about a foot.
"oh um yeah it is" she stammered, "hi."
Melanies heartbeat slowed down a little.
"Gawd you scared me" she accused and looked up at the boy who had scared her. She smirked.

Zane laughed softly as she jumped at the sound of his voice. “Sorry didn’t mean to, well I kind of did but im sorry anyway.” He waved his hands around to prove the fact. “I haven’t read that in forever…” Zane added and reached out his hand. “Zane Hart, fifth year and you?” He asked giving her one of his most charming smiles.

"Melanie Carter, slytherin first year" she said relaxing, "yeah, I think most Slytherins have read it," she said indicating the book.
A person nearby screamed in laughter. Melanie shot a grimace up at Zane who was still flying above her and covered her ears.
"I don't like to insult my fellow first-years but if she screams one more time I'll swear I'll..." Melanie trailed off looking at the offending girl.

Zane shrugged the best he could still hung upside down. “It’s a pleasure, and most first years are like that. Actually you’re the only sane one I see at the moment.” He watched her as she grew more annoyed by the second and waved his hands around to regain her attention. “Hey now, don’t get expelled during your first year you can save that for your last year!” He laughed again.

"Thanks," she said, "Are you gonna land or what, so I can see you without getting a considerable crick in the neck. I wasn't planning on getting expelled, its just those insane first years make me soo mad I want to hurl sometimes."
Melanie calmed down a bit after releasing her pent up anger. She watched the stupid kids playing about near the water. 'One of them is definatly gonna fall in' she thought and she was right.

Zane laughed at the sight of one of the kids falling into the lake as he dropped like a sack of potatoes next to her. “Come on, your young you should have some child left in you. Your becoming like one of my other female friends Flame, wow she can be reaaaaally scary but at the same time really nice but anyway back on track be happy!” He nudged her a bit and looked over at her as he rested his back against the tree trunk.

"Sorry, I wasn't born with any fun. And thanks for joining me down here anyway. I wasn't actually kidding. My neck is gonna need a whoooole lot of therapy after this." Melanie grinned to indicate she was kidding.
The annoying screamy girl had fallen into the lake and now all the others were joining her. Melanie rolled her eyes, didn't they have a mature bone in their body? It was like watching toddlers who could swim.
"You know what really bugs me?" she said suddenly, "the fact that all these kids probably have a pile of homework and now they're gonna have to dry off and take a shower. Plus they probably will get detention. Not that thar's such a bad thing." Melanie smirked.

Zane motioned his head to the side. “None? That’s a boring way to live im going to have to fix that now wont I?” He asked as Zane pulled out his wand and pointed at her grinning. “Wingardium Leviosa!” He wished then flicked the wand at her as she levitated off the ground. “Il just hold on to this and wait for you to get back. Bye, bye and enjoy the flight come again.” He gave her a strange salute and took her book from her hands as he flung Melanie into the lake.

"Arggghhhh" Melanie screamed and landed with a splash. She quickly resurfaced yelling insults at Zane.
"I can't swim you b****y idiot" she yelled. She whipped out her wand muttered "Wingardium Leviosa" she muttered and sent him hurling through the air to join her and gave a satisfied smirk.

Zane pointed his wand at her again. “Expelliarmus!” A yellow blast knocked the wand out of her hands keeping her from doing the spell. “Come now, that water isn’t even deep if you stood up you would touch the bottom I threw you in the shallow end!”

Melanie gave him an evil eye and waded out of the water with sopping wet clothes. Now Zane had her wand no doubt she was helpless and he was an all powerful mischeif maker. Who knows what he was going to do next. He had already thrown her into the lake, now he might call the giant squid! Melanie shivered at the thought. Melanie dragged her feet over to Zane.
"Now what are you going to do to me?" She said patheticaly.

Zane smiled and pointed his wand again as he retrieved her dropped wand. “Well if you insist... Rictusempra!” He cried out as a white blast engulfed Melanie and began tickling her.

Melani fell to the ground rolling about and hunching up in laughter.
"Sto-stop!" she yelled out as she rolled over yet again over onto a stone.
"h-h-hu-hu-huh! he-help Me-mee!" Melanie fell all over the place and rolled over his feet. She silently begged him.

Zane motioned his head to the side once again as he canceled out the tickling spell. “No? Ok how about some dance moves?” Zane asked as he shot off another white blast toward her. “Tarantallegra!” Making Melanie start to dance uncontrollably.

"Oy Zane, this is NOT funny,"
She did a complicated jump twist and landed on her backside with her legs still moving uncontrollably. She tried to do the twist again but instead flipped onto her front receiving a mouthful of grass. She did a kind of lying down-headstand-kicking Zanes face with her feet. She went flying.
"ZAAAANEEEE!"

Zane was kicked in the face groaning. “Mmmmhmm…it’s funny to me..” He sat down rubbing his face as she danced. “Should, I or should I not free you?” He thought for a second. “Nah.” He waved his hands around at the thought laughing then thought up something that will REALLY get her blood boiling. “Lets see dear if you give me a kiss on the lips for one minute ill free you.” Zane looked at her trying to keep a perfect stoic poker face.

"One minute, you must be kidding me!"
A look at his face told her he wasn't.
"Come here then," she said trying to get up and over to him without falling down again.
"Anything to be free from this darn wretched curse."

Zane canceled out the spell and walked up to her. “Don’t try anything dearie or you shall find yourself with a mouthful of slugs, never tried it myself but they see quite interesting might have to test it on someone sometime.” He threatened as he stopped in front of her.

"Oh don't worry I won't, I'm literally just glad to have my legs back under my control really."
She sighed and then with a smirk, kissed him with all her might.
'Actually this wasn't so bad' she thought. As the minute went on Melanie noticed that her blood was boiling.
"Oh shoot" she whispered through her lips.

Zane waited counting the seconds along with what he was going to have for dinner as the kiss went pass a minute. He was waiting for her to notice but if she didn’t he wasn’t going to mention it, her lips tasted like strawberry maybe? Perhaps from some type of lipstick. He cleared his head from those types of thoughts and focus only o making the kiss more passionate.

She wasn't counting but assumed Zane would tell her to stop. She figured she might as well do something instead of just standing there so she tried to make the kiss passionate. His lips tasted of butterbeer and some kind of gorgeous fruit. She noticed that he was trying to make it more passionate and she wasn't sure what to do
a) Run her tongue along his lips
or
b ) Pull out
She was attracted to a) but she wasn't sure...

Zane pressed Melanie’s smaller body against the tree and wrapped her arms around her tiny waist pressing Melanie against him.

Melanie found herself pressed against a tree. She decisively ran her tongue very gently against his lips while running her frail fingers through his hair. She had a feeling it had been way over a minute now but she didn't care. All she cared about right then was Zane and the kiss.

Zane stroked her face softly playing with her tongue as he broke the kiss. “Hmm, have fun?” He asked as he once again jumped on the hovering broom and hung from it.

"Of course" she smirked.
"Oy no fair," she said as he jumped on his broom, "don't you know I can't fly?" She scrambled onto the broom. She grinned at him cheekily.

Zane wrapped his arms around her and pulled her over and off the broom. “Opps…” He laughed hanging from the broom as he had it rise in altitude.

"No fair" she wrinkled up her nose and traid to grab the tale end of the broom, unsuccesfully.
"Wouldya stop playing games with me," she pleaded, "big show off."
She just knew he was gonna fly higher, but she didn't know why he kept playing with her.

“If I let you on do I get another kiss?” He grinned as he hung from the broom dropping small things like sticks and leaves at her.

"Youch" she said as sticks hit her. she smiled up at him.
"deal," she said in sweet tones, "Now get down from up there, I can barely see you, never mind kiss you if I'm gonna get on that darning broomstick." she yelled upto the tree.

Zane nodded as he lowered the broom stick slightly higher then her and grabbed her face kissing her upside down.

Melanie wondered how on earth he could stay on his broom, but decided to forget about it and just kiss him with as much passion as she could manage. She ran her tongue along his lips again and her hands took hold of his head gently.

Zane grabbed her by her waist and pulled of on the broom setting her in front of him. “You don’t know how to ride a broom?” He asked as he set her on his lap wrapping his arms around her waist. “Grasp the front of the broom tightly...”

She grasped the broom.
"I'm just no good at all," Melanie said to Zane, "I can't even do the Sloth Grip roll! I am really that bad, I make a mess out of most things to do with flying. It's my lack of quidditch-crazed brothers, I'm sure."

Zane nodded, “You can get it with practice…” He jumped off the broom after sliding her off his lap. “Right lets see you fly normally…”

"Uh okay," Melanie said.
She tilted the broom a little bit and bolted up to the sky.
"Argghh, help," she yelled.
Trying to get down she pointed the broom down. She shot down at about 50 miles an hour. She pointed the broom forwards and leant forwards and bulletted towards the castle walls. She leant to the right hurridly and before she knew it, it did a 360 degree turn. She pointed the broom slightly down and spiraled down to earth. She landed with a bump and fell over dizzily.

Zane sweat dropped as he walked over to her flipped on her back and sitting on her stomach. “Ehh, you ok?” He asked poking her slightly.

"Yeah......." she said firmly and bucked him off her stomach so she could sit up. This wasn't easy, she was a first-year female while he was a fifth-year male.
"Told you i wasn't any good," she said in spite of knowing that he knew that now she had demonstrated her extremely bad quidditch skills to him.

Zane stood up and stretched. “Good effort though, hers your reward…” He thought for a second. “Ok I don’t have one but you can have anything that’s reasonable...”
