Title: Getting reacquainted with familiar things

Gwen Ravin - May 31, 2008 06:09 PM (GMT)
It was almost the same town she had left three years ago, when she had left with her then husband to Spain, the same shops, and some of the same faces, but things were still different. New faces and new things showing in the windows. With her white purse in hand and the skirt of her knee-length blue dress blowing slightly in the breeze, she walked down the street, wondering who or what would catch her eye, as she started to reacquaint her self with the familiar things of years ago.

April Teagan - May 31, 2008 06:27 PM (GMT)
April enjoyed the breeze of Hogsmeade, and was running along the cool streets. She wanted to fetch her broom from Hogwarts, so she could zoom along the tops of the shops. She wasn't sure if she could do this by the rules, but she didn't care. She was trying to get close enough to actually magic her broom to her.

She was looking the other way when she smashed into something. Or someone. She shook her head and looked up from the ground where she had fallen. She had run into some sort of woman, not too old it seemed, but still not young enough to be a student or anything.

"Oh, sorry," April said, hastily getting up. She was very clumsy, it seems. "Didn't mean to run into you..."

Gwen Ravin - May 31, 2008 09:06 PM (GMT)
"Oh, don't worry about it." She said with a smile to back up that statement as she picked up the purse she had dropped. "Are you okay?" She asked the girl, who looked like she could still be in school. She held out a hand to help her up, but was a little to slow as the girl got up herself. "I'm Gwen." She said, she might as well introduce herself to someone while she was here.

April Teagan - May 31, 2008 09:22 PM (GMT)
April smiled, feeling awkward now that the woman had tried to help her up, and she had done it herself. She shurrged and wiped a bit of dirt off her robes. Stupid Hogsmeade and thier no pavement. Merlin's beard they were behind the times.

"I'm April. Nice to meet you... under better cirumstances, of course. Should have watched where I was going. I was in sort of a rush..." April babbled, not realizing totally what she said.

"You must not go to Hogwarts, you're too old... excuse me for saying that however. Don't take offense. But much too old to be a student. Are you visiting?" she asked politely, blushing a bit as she stumbled over her words.

Gwen Ravin - May 31, 2008 09:38 PM (GMT)
"Yeah, I graduated about 5 years ago .I just moved back around here a week or so ago, so I'm just getting around to see what's changed since I last saw it." Then she remembered that the girl had said she had been in a hurry. "Oh, I'm sorry if I've been keeping you."

April Teagan - May 31, 2008 09:44 PM (GMT)
"It's quite alright... it wasn't important. I'd like to hear about your school days though, and I could catch you up on news, if you'd like. The Three Broomsticks is right over there and I could get us some drinks, my treat. Unless you're in a rush, of course."

Gwen Ravin - May 31, 2008 09:50 PM (GMT)
Oh god her school days it felt like such a long time ago. "It would be nice to find out some of the things that have been going on here. Don't worry I can buy." She said with a smile, ok so it might be a little odd for the first person she went to go get drinks with was a kid, but she was happy just to have someone to talk to.

April Teagan - May 31, 2008 09:56 PM (GMT)
April laughed, and agreed. If she wanted to pay, well by all means, April would let her. It seemed every time she came into Hogwarts, she ended up having drinks with an adult. That was always interesting. Maybe it was because students weren't supposed to go down to Hogsmeade except on certain weekends. Oh well.

She lead the way into the bar and ordered a butterbeer, and sat down in the booth. She waited for Gwen to join her, and comfortable rested into the booth seat. She loved the air of the place, it was so calming.

"So, what house were you in, back in the day?" April asked, taking a sip from her bottle and loving the feeling of the warm liquid seeping through her body.

Gwen Ravin - May 31, 2008 10:08 PM (GMT)
Ordering a raspberry iced tea and paying for the drinks, Gwen followed April to the booth and sat opposite of her. "Huffelpuff." She answered the girl. she couldn't remember how the rhym the sorting hat had sang went, but it had been a joke with her friends that she couldn't ever fit anywhere else. "What about you?"

April Teagan - June 1, 2008 01:29 AM (GMT)
April smirked, taking another sip of warm frothy butterbeer to hide it. She placed the bottle on the scrubbed wooden table and looked at the girl, twiddling her thumbs.

"Couldn't fit in anywhere else?" April joking, laughing. She really needed to learn to not be so rude, however. She was dealing with an adult, after all.

"As for me, I'm in good old Slytherin. Probably wouldn't have gotten along, back in your day. However, I tend to keep my manners in check." She smiled warmly.

Gwen Ravin - June 2, 2008 12:47 PM (GMT)
"No, to passive compaired to my friends." She said. "No, probably not, too mush of a personality clash. Well, that's always good, manners are a nice thing to mind." She said taking a sip of the cold beverage. "So, has anything been going on lately?"

April Teagan - June 2, 2008 07:42 PM (GMT)
"No, no, not really. We recently had a Spring Formal, which was nice of course. Quite the party animals at that school, and I can assure you I joined them..." April paused to take a sip of butterbeer. "But not much is new up there it seems. I'm actually kind of new, so I'm not sure what it was like previously..."

April thought for a moment while taking another sip and then said, "Actually, there's going to be a tournament of some sort during the summer. Sounds interesting enough. I'm planning to watch before I go on my trip."

Gwen Ravin - June 2, 2008 09:59 PM (GMT)
"New? Where were you before?" she asked as the chilled beverage went down her throat. Atleast she wasn't the only one new around here. "A tournament , huh. That sounds like it would be fun. Where are you going on your trip?"

April Teagan - June 3, 2008 01:06 AM (GMT)
"Oh, I wasn't anywhere before. I was home-schooled. Bit of a long story," April said, not sure that the woman would really need an in-depth history of her life andreaosning behind staying home to be taught magic. Most people asked about it, but she wasn't going to bore the woman if she didn't truly want to know.

"A tournament , huh. That sounds like it would be fun. Where are you going on your trip?"

"Yes, the tournament seems interesting. As for my trip, my friend has kindly agreed to take me to her various homes scattered throughout the world... very rich, you see. France, New York, Japan perhaps. I'm very excited. We're going to leave shortly after the tournament I believe."

Gwen Ravin - June 4, 2008 02:15 AM (GMT)
So she had been home schooled, that was intersting but not enough so to make a conversation about it. The girls home life wasn't her buisness anyway. "Well I hope you have a lot of fun with that." She said
(guh, sorry that sucked.)

April Teagan - June 4, 2008 11:01 PM (GMT)
"thank you, thank you."

"So, are you staying long here? Or, do you have some sort of family to go back on home to?"

Gwen Ravin - June 5, 2008 03:22 PM (GMT)
"No, I'm now single and I don't really have anything else to do today." She said, okay so she could be unpacking the rest of the boxes that were currently filling her apartment, but walking around, or just talking sounded much more appealing.

“So, what about you? Do you have anyother plans for today?” she asked. "Do you want another drink?"

April Teagan - June 5, 2008 06:50 PM (GMT)
April shrugged, looking at her empty bottle. She supposed she could use another drink.

"Sure, thank you." She put the empty bottle on the table, waiting for the maid to come and take it away. They always had good service here.

"when you say now single, do you mean, you were married before? Or just a petty boyfriend? Sorry to be so nosy."

Gwen Ravin - June 5, 2008 07:00 PM (GMT)
She ordered both of them another drink before going back to their conversation. "Yeah, I was married, I lived in spain with him for a few years, but hings didn't work out, so were just finalizing the devoirce. And that puts me back here."

April Teagan - June 5, 2008 08:34 PM (GMT)
April smiled and thanked the bar maid and Gwen for the drink. She took a sip. This one was warmer than the other had been, and filled her right up. Yum. Very tasty. She loved butterbeer.

"You lived in Spain? That must have been fascinating. nkow any Spanish?" she teased. She didn't want to force Gwen to talk about her divorce, which would probably be a bothresome topic.

Gwen Ravin - June 5, 2008 10:57 PM (GMT)
" Yeah, in a little town just out of Madrid, it's a beautiful country." She said sipping her drink. "I know a little bit of spanish, but languages has never really been a strong point for me." she told her, happy she hadn't asked the usual 'oh what happened' question.

April Teagan - June 5, 2008 11:32 PM (GMT)
"Ror me either. Can't speak a word of anything but English. I'd be completely lost in any foreign counry, for sure." April giggled, taking another sip. Gwen was a very casual conversationalist, so it was easy to skip around on topics that neithe rof them would find uncomfortable.

"Where are you located now? Around London, or in one of the other counties? I'm from Essex myself."

Gwen Ravin - June 5, 2008 11:46 PM (GMT)
"Yeah, It can take a bit of getting used to, I'm not sure why I thought it would be a good idea to move there. I just got into a new apartment." She said "I haven't unpacked all the way, but it works good for just one person living there."

April Teagan - June 5, 2008 11:57 PM (GMT)
"I'm sure that was the smart move to make. I've been to London, and it's a really interesting place to be. I plan on renting a flat there at some point in my life, just for the expierence. It's very busy and such."

April finished her second butterbeer with a long swig of it, resting it on the table when she was done.

"Thanks for the drink. Really good stuff."

"Have you been up to the school any? There's some teaching posts available I believe, not sure what you do ,really."

Gwen Ravin - June 7, 2008 02:53 AM (GMT)
"I was up there just the other day, I applied for a job as a medi-witch at the school, I’m judt waiting to hear back from them about it. It hasn't changed any since I was there last, just some new faces around. There are still kids there that were first years when I left, it's crazy." She said taking a sip of her drink

April Teagan - June 7, 2008 07:20 PM (GMT)
April privately agreed. Her sister was one of those students.

"My sister was probably there... she's a seventh year now. You'd be much older than her, though."

She also didn't want to talk about Taylor, so she changed the subject quickly.

"A medi-witch huh? You'll probably get the spot, we haven't got many people working in the Hospital Wing. I haven't really been up there myself, not being injured, but I'm sure they need the help."

She sipped her drink casually.

Gwen Ravin - June 9, 2008 01:50 AM (GMT)
"Well, that's a good thing isn't it? Well about not having to go to the hospital wing. I really hope you're right, I really like that stuff, helping people and stuff you know? That and I think most of the kids there are great." She stopped herself before she could get to far into the 'woman who wants a child' mode as it had been dubbed. "Do you wan't another drink, or do you wan't to go somewhere else?"

April Teagan - June 10, 2008 01:38 AM (GMT)
April finished her drink just as Gwen suggested another one, but April was too full by now. She shook her head.

"No thank you, to another drink. We can do whatever you'd like, though. I wouldn't drag you to anything you would't want to do."
