Title: Complete and Utter Boredom
Description: Shane

The weather outside was kind of weird. The sky was pretty cloudy, but only thin clouds lined the blue sky. The sun had managed to poke through, creating a rather bright day outside, despite the clouds. It was still a bit chilly outside, so Casey had found herself in a pair of jeans (with holes in the knees) and a purple shirt. Her long copper hair was down and in its natural waves. She'd taken her flip flops off and was carrying them. Despite the fact that she'd found herself rather bored, she couldn't help but smile. She was in a great mood for no particular reason.

And once again Casey found herself completel and utterly bored. She'd finished her homework, and had nothing else to do. She found herself rather alone, which, even with so many people in the school, came easily to Casey. She sighed rather heavily, what was there to do? She'd been wandering about the grounds for a little while, but most people were in their own groups, and she hated approaching groups of people. There goes that shy and quiet side of her again. She kicked a pebble, watching it bounce a few times in front of her before rolling to a slow stop.

In retrospect, the robes were a poor choice of attire today. It was a little chilly outside this morning so he had opted for the normal Gryffindor robes instead of a longsleeve shirt. Considering his current predicament, a poor choice. Shane was now at a dead sprint acrossed the school grounds, in hot pursuit of what appeared to be a twisted cross between a textbook and a dingo.

The dingo..book..zig zagged wildly across the lush green grass, the sixth year only a few feet behind it. Finally having had enough running for the moment, Shane skids to a stop and draws his wand in a one fluid motion, taking careful aim. "Fine book..we can do it this way..Stupefy!" The red hex streaks across the grounds, catching the book's tail and sending it tumbling forwards, landing at the feet of a girl in a purple shirt. Jogging over to collect his homework, he cant help but grin at the girl; he had to have looked rediculous chasing his book all over the grounds. He stopped for a second to catch his breath, a little winded. "Hey..."

Casey stopped and stared. So it was rude to stare, but she couldn't help herself, it wasn't every day you saw someone chasing a random thing across the grounds. She let out a soft chuckle, it proved to be rather amusing. At this point, she really wasn't all that bored anymore, just amused. She watched as the Gryffindor stupefied the book//dingo thing and came to a stop before her.

"Hello..." She said a little shyly. "So uh... Do you usually chase books around the grounds?" She couldn't help but ask. She smiled and picked up the book, handing it to Shane. "I must admit, that's not something you see every day."

Shane reversed the grip on his wand, smoothing out his robes brushing some grass from them. Taking his book back with a smile, he tucked it underneath his left arm. He seemed to be taking his embarassment in stride; Shane wasn't the type to be easily flustered. "Thanks..no not often, only when it fits in my workout regimen, or when I'm ruining my transfiguration homework." Smiling, he looks down at the book in his hand and racks his brain for a good spell.

A look of satisfaction comes to his face as he spins the wand in his grip, pointing at the book and muttering "Locomotor mortis.." The legs sprouting from the covers of the book snap together, immobilizing the book in case the hex wore off. "No I suppose you dont see it often. Shane Cross.." he says, placing his wand in his left hand before extending his right.

"I guess that is a great way to get a good work out. I'll keep that in mind next time I need a work out. It'll keep me running, that's for sure." Casey laughed, "Transfiguration homework, huh? That does not sound like fun." She watched as he cast yet another spell on his book. She wondered, momentaril, what he could've been trying to do to the book originally. Before it took off. With curiousity getting the better of her she decided to ask. "So if you don't my asking, what exacly were you trying to do?"

She watched as the book froze, that was a good idea, not something she would of thought of. "Still, it was rather entertaining. Much more entertaining than watching a pebble role around anyways." She shook his hand, offering a friendly smile. "I'm Casey." She said introducing herself. In all of this, she'd forgotten her shyness. That was a good thing, she was improving. She was actually having a conversation with someone she'd never met before.

Shane laughed, shaking his head. "Great workout if no one's looking. I suppose it'd be a better workout to get your book to chase you around" he says, taking a moment to ponder the applications of a dragon/book hybrid. Nodding, he motions toward the book under his arm. "Yeah..supposed to turn the book into any animal tomorrow in class. I thought it would be kinda funny to turn it into a dingo and run around the room. Didn't think about what could happen if it got away from me in the dorms."

He raised an eyebrow as she mentioned watching pebbles roll. "Well yeah...wow..you must be bored." Shaking her hand, he wore that charming smile of his. He was an easy guy to get along with; even shy people seem to come out of their shells when he would talk to them. "Pleasure to meet you Casey. Mind if I tag along with you?" The book twitching under his arm, he nods towards it. "Mission accomplished after all."

"Good point. Well I make sure no ones looking if I ever give that one a try!" Casey said with a laugh. She looked at the book a bit wearily, she wasn't sure she'd enjoy turning a book into an animal. "That sounds interesting. I wonder what other people will turn their books into.... That classroom could be a zoo" She laughed just thinking about it.

"Yup. I was pebble watching. They're a fascinating sort you know." Casey said sarcastically. "But boring. I admit it, I was extremely bored. But, no offense to you, I quickly became amused." She smiled and looked down at her feet momentarily, her shyness returning for a second. "Pleasure to meetcha too Shane. No no not at all. In fact I'd really appreciate it if you tagged along. You might just break my streak of boredom!"
