Title: Too Long in the Library

Jenna Wright - June 3, 2008 03:16 AM (GMT)
Jenna had just left the library, she'd been there for hours doing homework and studying. She was a bit flustered at this point, as she always was after studying for long periods of time. She was a bit spaced out after spending so much time with her nose in the books. She sighed and shifted her load of books from her left hand to her right. They were heavy and not fun to carry. A look about the hallway confirm that she was headed in the right direction, it wouldn't be the first time that Jen had taken a wrong turn and wound up in the wrong end of Hogwarts. Even after seven years at Hogwarts it was still easy to get lost.

Jen's stomach growled. She'd missed lunch. Shifting her books to the other arm she looked at her watch. She'd spent much longer in the library than she'd meant to. She heaved her bag, readjusting it on her shoulder and decided that she'd pay a quick visit to the kitchens. She was starving and at this point all she could think about was food. Of course, she wasn't really paying attention to where she was going and ran straight into someone. Her books immediately fell to the floor.

Even more flustered, Jen knelt down, picking up her collection of books. "Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry." She said, "I didn't even see you there. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. I'm sorry." Her words came out in a tumbled rush as she apologized, her cheeks burning from embarrassment.

Jeraud Cynster - June 3, 2008 05:53 AM (GMT)
Jer sighed in irritation stopping in the middle of the hallway as he tried to remember what Shawn had asked him to get from the kitchens for him. Cloak billowing at his feet Jer was pushed back by several students as they made there way passed him. Glowering at the younger kids he watched as they stalked off without even apologizing. “Kids these days,” he mumbled to himself as he turned around deciding to go back and ask the boy what had wanted.

Jer smiled slightly as he realized what he was doing. He was catering to one of the first year boys who happened to be one of his patients at the moment. Nevertheless Jer couldn’t help it. He felt bad for Shawn seeing as how his first year, at least the ending of it, had pretty much been ruined. The ruining caused by an older third year in his house who had pretty much beaten Shawn to a bloody pulp because Shawn had bumped into him. Shaking his head at the memory the boy had replayed for him made Jer angry at the behavior of the third year. Didn’t he remember what it was to be a first year?

Thinking this Jer shook his head in disbelief, in turn not noticing a girl up ahead walking the same path as himself, heading towards him. That’s why when they both bumped into each other he let out a curse. Watching as the girl’s books fell to the ground Jer came out of his dazed state and instantly bent down to help her pick up her books. It was the least he could do after all.

“No no…don’t worry it’s quite alright. I should apologize to you as it seems I wasn’t watching where I was going either.” Pausing at this point of his words Jer finished helping the girl pick up her books and glanced up to see her cheeks beat red from embarrassment. Smiling slightly he stood up dusting off his black slacks and cloak before turning to extend a hand to the younger girl ready to help her up.

“It seems like we’ve both managed to make a fool out of ourselves for not paying attention. Let’s hope that’s our only punishment,” Saying this he waited for the girl to stand up before flashing her his trademark lop sided grin.

OO: Hope you don't mind me using Jer. I haven't role played him much so I thought I'd use him. If you have a problem with just tell me and I'll change to Rebecca. =]

Jenna Wright - June 3, 2008 03:39 PM (GMT)
Jen felt like a complete idiot at this point. It would be just like her to stop paying attention to her surroundings and then run into someone, an adult of course, and drop everything she had in her arms. Quite naturally, she was a little frustrated and very embarrassed. Her cheeks were burning, which didn't lighten her mood at all.

She picked up her array of books, with the help of Jer of course, and greatfully accepted his hand to help her up. Once Jen was up she dusted herself off and shifted her books until they were comfortable. "Well I guess I should start paying more attention when I'm in a hallway" she said with a bit of a laugh.

Sometimes, in a situation such as this, the only thing you can do is laugh it off, and that was exactly what Jen intended to do. She grinned, "Well anyways, I'm sorry about that. I just spent hours in the library, so I'm afrid I'm not really with it." She felt like she owed at least some form of explanation. "I hope that was our only punishment, but I have a tendancy to make a fool out of myself, so we'll see on that one."

Upon looking at Jeraud, Jen recognized him to be the healer in the hospital wing. She had made too many trips in there herself, but she knew of him. She looked up at him, still grinning, despite her slightly disgruntled mood.

At this point, the best way to describe Jenna was dishevelled. Her Hufflepuff robes were a bit out of place, her bag looked as if it could fall off of her shoulder at any given moment, she really just looked a mess. Of course, this was a bit normal for her. She was always on the go and only managed to look completely put together when she would care enough to take the time in rhe morning to look good. Her hair was down, as usual, with it's soft, blonde waves. It would be up, if Jenna could have her way with it, but it was a bit short and had a tendancy to fall out of the ponytail.

Jeraud Cynster - June 3, 2008 09:13 PM (GMT)
Jer watched as the girl picked up her things and gratefully took his hand. Helping her up with ease Jer was able, as she fixed herself up, to get a good look at the girl. Tilting his head to the side as a dog would in confusion his hazel eyes studied the girl. With her disheveled appearance he could still make out her face. A face in which seemed familiar to him. Pondering on where he’d seen the girl the only guess, especially since he remembered her face and he spent most of his time there, was that she’d been to the hospital wing one too many times. Nevertheless he tried to put a name to the face.

Coming out of his stupor Jer waved off her millionth, figuratively speaking of course, apology. “Don’t worry. At least you have the decency to say your sorry unlike some choice students around her…” Trailing off he glanced passed the girl just in time to catch those students who had bumped into him moments ago turning a corner. Shaking his head slightly he turned back to the girl noticing the large amount of books she was carrying. Reaching out an arm Jer said, “Here let me help you with some of those.” Waiting for the girl to lighten her load he watched her expectantly. When he heard her last comment before going quiet he chuckled.

“Well for your sake I’m hoping it is. After all we wouldn’t want you in the Hospital wing for falling down a flight of stairs or something. And yes I know that would be a harsh punishment for just making a fool out of yourself.” Smiling over at the girl Jer shrugged his shoulders. As they both went in a silence, a silence in between awkward and comfortable, he glanced at the girl once again frowning slightly as he tried to recall the girl’s name. Suddenly after a few moments Jer grinned and pointed to the girl.

“Miss Wright!” He exclaimed happily shaking his head as he recalled that her first name was Jenna and she was a seventh year Hufflepuff. Turning back to Jenna Jer smiled at her sheepishly before saying. “Sorry I was trying to recall your name and couldn’t contain my excitement when I did. Hopefully you’ll excuse my outburst.”

Jenna Wright - June 4, 2008 12:11 AM (GMT)
Jenna nodded, "I hate it when people bump into and don't apologize, so I tend to make sure that I do apologize. It's only polite of course." She felt like she was rambling of course, just like she always did. Jen was a talker, that much was known. She liked to talk, it was true. But sometimes she had the idea that she was rambling just a bit too much.

When Jeraud offered to take a few books, she couldn't help but feel relieved. They were heavy and her arms were beginning to ache from carrying them. "Are you sure? I'm fine really." In truth, Jen was quite glad that he had offered to lighten her load. but she felt bad giving him her books. She was an independent sort and genereally didn't like accepting help. It could be considered a fault perhaps, but being the eldest in her family she'd learned to do things on her and hated it when people did things for her. But every now and then she wasn't opposed to accepting help, although she didn't like the fact. She decided that this time it wouldn't hurt and so handed Jeraud two of her books, rather gratefully. "Thank you so much. It seems that I've got homework in every subject, which means lugging around all of this books" Jen said, giving the books quite a glare.

His comment on falling down the stairs made her laugh. She'd done that a few too many times. "Yes, well it wouldn't be a first time for me. Seems I'm a bit of clutz when it comes to the stairs, so at this point it's more than likely." Jenna said with a shrug. It was true. One time she had fallen down the stairs and broken a toe. Not her proudest moment of course, but it was pretty an every day occurence, only occasionally (lucky for her) did she ever hurt anything more than her dignity. "But I hope that I today's not the day I make another visit to the hospital wing, no offense, but it's not my favorite place in the world."

When Jeraud exclaimed her name she couldn't help but jump. She'd been a bit surprised, but she laughed. "Yes... Jenna." She said, she preferred not to go for the 'miss wright' thing. "Don't worry about it. Really. But you're right on the spot" Jenna said with a bit of a chuckle. She had to admit, she liked Jeraud, he was a nice guy and quite suited to his profession.

Jeraud Cynster - June 5, 2008 02:37 AM (GMT)
Jer laughed and nodded in agreement when Jenna told him she made it her job to apologize as it was the polite thing to do. He to felt the same way. It was rude and disrespectful for someone not to apologize or even give any notion that they knew they’d bumped into you. Quite rude indeed. After all as the say went don’t treat someone they way you wouldn’t want to be treated….or something along those lines.

“I know exactly how you feel. If I didn’t apologize I’d feel like a complete jerk,” he announced with a nodded then smiled at Jenna when she went on to say he didn’t have to carry any of her books. “Yes, I insist. After all I’m sure that load is heavy, it looks like it to me….” Trailing off he watched as Jenna seemed to be debating on whether or not to let him help. From her actions he couldn’t help but assume she was an independent girl and didn’t really care much for help. Nevertheless it seemed Jenna was willing to change her ways this once and Jer was grateful. Taking the two books she handed him Jer raised an amused eyebrow at the girl. She, after all, had at least six books and only handed him two. Even so he didn’t comment.

“Your welcome,” Jer said happily flashing Jenna a smile as she went on to explain why she was dragging around so many books. Nodding at her explanation he said, “Yeah I understand I remember my seventh year. Homework every day, studying harder than ever, getting hardly any sleep. I thought it would never end. Even so in the end it was worth it. Passed my N.E.W.Ts with pretty good grades.” Trailing off Jer chuckled a little as he watched Jenna give the books a glare.

“If that didn’t scare them I don’t know what will,” Jer commented jokingly as he grinned. It was in his character to joke around and he hoped Jenna didn’t take anything he said offensively. She should know my ways though, he thought quietly knowing she’d been in the hospital wing quite a few times since he’d started working. That’s why he finally remembered her name. Shaking his thoughts away Jer went ahead to listen on as Jenna commented on the falling down the stairs. Frowning slightly at her words he thought, No wonder why she’s always needing a healer.

“None taken. I know how exasperating the place can be. Remember I work there,” Jer announced rolling his hazel eyes slightly but then smile over at Jenna. It was true and something he could never deny even though he loved his job. Even so it had never been enough for him to quit what he was doing and leave. The goods had always seemed to way out the bad. A good thing in his thoughts.

"Yes... Jenna. Don't worry about it. Really. But you're right on the spot."

Hearing Jenna’s words and seeing her jump in surprise made Jer laugh. “Alright…Jenna,” he said then thought for a moment before asking. “Now where might you be heading with these loads of books?”

Jenna Wright - June 5, 2008 03:09 AM (GMT)
It seemed that Jeraud had had a couple instances in the past few minutes in which many students had bumped passed, not appearing apologetic at all. It was normal these days, everyone was in a hurry to get to their destination and they forgot about the every day courtesies. It was no excuse of course, but it was slowly becoming one. She knew, from personal experience, how frustrating it was to have someone completely run you over and then keep on walking as if nothing had happened.

Jenna sighed, "Too bad there aren't that many people that go by that policy anymore. At least there are some of us who have the deceny to apologize left out there." Of course that was a bit melodramatic and over the top. Their was a hint of sarcasm in her voice, playing to the exaggeration.

Jenna realized that she perhaps should've given Jeraud more than two books. It was obvious that she was struggling the with the books she was carrying, but as usual, pride and independence had gotten in the way. Still, she was grateful for the fact that her load had been lightened, it was amazing how much lighter a pile of books could be when two were taken off. She couldn't help but laugh at Jeraud's statement, "Ah well, I was hoping that if I scared them bad enough they might just shrink in terror. That's usually what happens isn't it?" She paused, realizing what she'd just said. "Wow, that sounded lame. I think I need to think more before I speak" She said with a shake of her head.

Jen smiled, thinking back to her trips down the stairs that always seemed to land her in the hospital wing. Of course, over the years her curiousity had often gotten the better of her, unfortunately landing her in the hospital wing on many occasions. She was a curious girl who had a knack for getting in trouble as well as getting hurt. She knew her way around the hospital wing at this point, that much was for sure. Shaking herself out of her thoughts, she responded, "Well I'm sure I'll be paying one last visit before I go, however exasperating the hospital wing may be."

At his question, Jenna looked around, trying to remember exactly where she'd been headed. After a moments hesitation she suddenly remembered how hungry she was. "I was headed towards the kitchens. I spent longer in the library than I'd meant to and missed lunch, consequently." With that, her stomach grumbled.

Jer couldn’t help but laugh a little at Jenna’s sarcastic, melodramatic comment on people not having the decency in saying sorry. It being so melodramatic was the part that left him amused. Any drama influenced comments tended were usually annoying, but this one was welcomed with open arms. Smiling slightly at his thoughts Jer’s amusement was further
indulged by Jenna’s rather corny comment. Laughing at it, his hazel eyes were filled with amusement. That was definitely a first.

“Don’t worry Jenna. We all have our times. And personally I find it more amusing and more informing to one’s personality. When people just go out and say things I find you learn a lot more about them then you would if they sat and thought about everything they were to say before speaking aloud. You get what I mean?” Saying this Jer shrugged. It was the truth and the truth he liked. Some people were just so conservative, some to the point where it was annoying as hell. Even so he knew that it was made as a defense mechanism. Every one pretty much had them.

"Well I'm sure I'll be paying one last visit before I go, however exasperating the hospital wing may be."

“Before you go? Ahh yes you’re a seventh year. Well I’m glad you’ll pay one last visit, hopefully it’s not because of any injury though. I’ll wish you luck for your future then,” Jer announced smiling over at Jenna. As the blonde went on to answer where she was going he opened to his mouth to tell her how perfect that was since he was heading the same way, though his mouth closed as Jenna’s stomach growled. Chuckling softly he grinned over at Jenna before he spoke.

“Well Jenna it seems like we’re heading in the same direction. Do you mind if I join you?” Pausing to wait for a moment Jer suddenly winced as he remembered he was carrying her books. “Stupid question, don’t answer. I have your books remember. I was just being polite in asking.” Saying this Jer grinned trying to make up for his forgetfulness. At his words though he started off walking past a few students before motioning Jenna to come along. Once the girl was near him he turned to her and asked, hazel eyes watching her.

“So what career are you planning on taking up after Hogwarts? Or have you decided yet?”

OOC: So sorry about the wait! I've been busy and have finally gotten back into chracter.

Jenna Wright - June 10, 2008 02:48 AM (GMT)
Jenna was glad that she hadn't made a complete fool of herself, it would seem that Jeraud was rather amused at her comments. With that said, she was quite relieved. She generally had a habit of saying weird things that she regretting ever saying. But, of course, seh'd never learned from it. Perhaps it was better off that way.

"Yea, I get what you mean. That's a good point actually, and it's true. I'd never really thought of it that way before. I guess if I thought about everything before I spoke, then I'd turn out to be a very boring person, and life isn't meant to be boring." Jen got the feeling she was rambling and so cut herself off. She had a habit of that too, she supposed it went along with not thinking before speaking. But in some ways, that fault was also a good thing. It really showed her true personality, she wasn't worried about speaking her mind, where some people spent too long thinking about what others would like them to say.

Jenna grinned, "I guess we'll have to see on that one. I might just have to make one last trip down the stairs, for old times sake," She said with a laugh. "Hopefully I don't show up with too many bad injuries, who knows?" She smiled, it seemed like she still had forever left at Hogwarts, but the truth of the matter was that she really only had a couple of weeks left. It was going to be hard saying goodbye to something that was such a big part of her life, and the friends she was leaving behind, it wasn't going to be easy. "Thanks, hopefully everything works out."

Jenna laughed, "That's fine, really. Oh, and thanks for carrying my books for me. These things weigh a ton, you'd think being in the wizarding world they'd find a way to make these things weigh next to nothing." she paused at that idea, why hadn't she thought of that before. Of course, she didn't know a spell off the top of her head, she'd have to do some research, but that sure would save her a lot of weight. She caught up to Jer.

“So what career are you planning on taking up after Hogwarts? Or have you decided yet?”

Jenna groaned. That question again. Why did that always come up in every conversation. It always reminded her of the craziness she was about to enter. "Honestly, I've no idea what I'm doing. I've thought about a ton of different things, but I just don't know what's right for me." Jen shrugged, somewhat frustrated. It seemed as if all of her friends had these great plans that would really get them started, and here she was, lost, clueless, and freaking out.

Jeraud Cynster - June 12, 2008 08:42 PM (GMT)
Listening to Jenna comment on his words Jer nodded. Life was boring when others kept in their mind rather than talking. That’s why he actually liked random outbursts and outbursts of anger, happiness, sadness, excitement or anything else. Of course he wasn’t happy about the person being sad or angry, but more that the person didn’t keep their emotions in. He liked the outburst. Laughing suddenly at his thoughts Jer listened on as she went to joke about going down the stairs once more for old times sake.

“Don’t do it for my sake Jenna. But by all means if you want to go down the stairs well….wait I really should be encouraging this should I?” Asking this Jer shook his head but was laughing as he did so. I really hoped Jenna didn’t go off and do that, but then again he had no right in telling her what to do. Nevertheless he thought her smart enough not too. Coming to this conclusion made Jer smile, happy, before he spoke up. “Your welcome Jenna. I think you’ll do just fine out there in the real world.”

Hearing her next comment Jer laughed again but nodded in agreement. “Your welcome once again Jenna. And yes I do have to agree. It would make a lot of sense after all. Hmmm…..I wonder if they have one. If not you should go ahead and invent it Jenna. What do you say? You’ll be saving the next generation from all these aches and pains the people before them have suffered…” Trailing off Jer grinned his lop sided grin. He was just joking with her. Though only on the creating the spell. He actually really did wonder if there already was one created. Could have saved me, he thought to himself wryly.

Coming out of his thoughts as he asked the question he asked of every seventh year her passed or met Jer couldn’t help but laugh at Jenna’s reaction. It seemed like with some of the other’s he’d met that she didn’t like the question. Maybe I should really stop asking it, he thought to himself then smiled suddenly. Nah. He knew it might pain them to think about their future but since they only had one year, or weeks in Jenna’s case they needed to think about it. Sighing in his mind Jer knew he was being a pain in the a** about it, but oh well.

“Really, you have no idea after all this time? By the way I’m sorry about bringing up the question, but I do this with all the seventh years I meet so don’t feel all alone. But anyways….” Pausing for a moment Jer let himself glance at Jenna wondering what she might be good at. “Do you want to work in the Ministry? You know now that I think about it if you know a lot about muggles you could always take up one of their jobs. Not so harmless. Anyways if you don’t want to talk about this let us change the subject.” Nodding at her he smiled waiting to see which road of topic she would take.
