Title: the emerald
Description: for me and April
Valentina Greysoul - June 3, 2008 06:10 PM (GMT)
Valentina and April made their way down the deserted corridor and infront of a vast looking wall.
"it should be here!" she said, more to herself than April.
she put her hand on the wall and closed her eyes.
she felt a weird rumbling, and the cold stone on her hand turn into a smooth surface.
"h-here we are!" Valentina said chuckling, maybe just to comfurt herself.
she was still holding the emerald, with the small red blood light inside.
she couldn't wait to tell April everything.
((( OCC: sorry if it's so short )))
April Teagan - June 3, 2008 06:48 PM (GMT)
April followed Valentina into the Room of Requirement. It looked different than the first time she was here. There were two comfy chairs on top of a nice soft rug, and low candelight. There were no tables or books or anything to disract them. April knocked on the wood.... sound proof.
"So, spill," April said simply and sat down upon a comfy leather chair to await Valentina's response.
Valentina Greysoul - June 4, 2008 02:09 PM (GMT)
Valentina slouched down on her chair. it was very comfy.
"well..." She began, trying to choose the right words for that weird event that just happend to her.
"... i had just came back from dinner, when i saw something shiny from the Common Romm's oposite direction, so i followed the reflection down the long corridor, you know, the one where noone ever goes down, and i saw a frame..."
she held up the emerald, examining it more carefully.
"... but it was empty... and there were all these emerald stones... and there was a wrighting carved on one edge... i read it out loud and something happend - i didn't see what-... it was really scary!" She gasped.
"still, what the hell's going on with this one?" Valentina pointed at the Emerald, it was picoming fuzzy inside, and the red spot had become larger.
She passed it to her friend.
April Teagan - June 4, 2008 09:59 PM (GMT)
"I don't even know what's going on with this emerald thing... why is it shining like this?" April was stumped, and didn't know what to do with it. what if it was dangerous, or somehow important? She wasn't sure what to do at all, but maybe they shouldn't have kept it.
"...Maybe we should put it back, before it explodes or something," April suggested, only half joking. "We really don't know what it could be... unless we researched it."
Valentina Greysoul - June 5, 2008 07:19 PM (GMT)
"right!" Valentina said gloomly.
she was scared it really would explode. and going to put it back wasn't going to help her relax either.
She got hold of the emerald again and examined it. Valentina gulped worriedly.
She thought of the idea of going back down that dark corridor alone, and it gave her the shivvers.
"can we put it back together, please?" she asked, in an unusual high pitched tone. In that very moment, she didn't care weather she sounded like a scardy cat.
She was not going back there alone!
April Teagan - June 5, 2008 08:10 PM (GMT)
"sure, sure," she said, and grabbed it from Valentina's hands. The poor girl looked like it was going to explode if she looked at it too much, and that wouldn't be good.
"On second thought, maybe we should just hide it in here..." April thought of a hiding place, and soon the room was filled to the top with mountains of hidden objects.
"Woah..." April said, kicking away an old set of quidditch robes and a broken champagne glass.
"That's a lot of stolen and hidden stuff...."
Valentina Greysoul - June 6, 2008 01:26 PM (GMT)
Valentina looked around in amazement.
she picked up a remembrall that was lying next to her left foot.
"y-yeah! that's a clever idea..." she said, still shocked at the sudden change of the room.
"how will we find it back, though? there are many things here!" she pointed out.
there was a potion book lying in one corner, and she nearly tripped over it when she turned to look back at the door.
Advanced Potion Making. she read. she turned it over and saw that there was a writing on it:
Half-Blood Prince
She frowned and checked it back in the pile of stuff.
"where can we find a good hiding place?" she asked her friend.
April Teagan - June 6, 2008 06:24 PM (GMT)
April was swamped with several things around her feet. even so often, something would tip over and a bunch of broken objects would crumple to the floor in a heap. April gigled and started hopping into spots where nothing was in the way. There were mountains of hidden things here. She almost wanted to treaure hunt.
"Forget that, look what I found!" she exclaimed, picking up a large box, which contained a trapped snitch. It tried to flutter out of her grasp but she grabbed it.
"Nice!" she said, pokceting it. She could feel it struggle aganst her pocket and then die down when it realized there was no escape.
"We could hide anything here... but I bet we could find some neat stuff. Hey..." she said, looking back at Valentina. "What did you find over there?" Valentina was holding an object in her hand
Valentina Greysoul - June 6, 2008 07:00 PM (GMT)
Valentina laughted when she saw April picking up the trapped Snitch.
"perfect for our new seeker!" she said happily. She too whent over to the piles of objects. [Iso many things!... [/I]]she thought in delight.
then, something caught her attention.
She climped over an old Shooting Star and scrambled to pick it up, digging things out of the way.
There it was... a golden necklace with a big lock, Snake shapped. Valentina strode out from the small pile of objects. She was lucky it wasn't stuck in the huges of the piles.
She sat back down on the clear space of floor she had been standing on before.
She then turned all her attention back to the necklace.
The golden snake was magnificent, it had his back carved with tons of emeralds all down it's back up until the head. Insted, the eyes were rubies.
she was about to say "wow! april, look at this!" but she didn't even get started. She couldn't speak. her throat was dry.
"What did you find over there?" April asked from behind her.
Valentina held back the necklace. the ruby eyes seemed to flicker across the room.
Valentina was starting to sweat cold, when she heard the voice speak. A cold, liveless voice:
"How dare thy wake me?" it said.
a sudden force pulled her down to the floor, flat. She heard April fall behind her.
"Thy will pay for my wakening!"
an indiscribable feeling ran through her. As if she was being slowly killed. as if a cold sword had just when though her.
Valentina screamed. tears feeling her eyes. The emerald in her left palm was shaking, as if pleading to be freed. But she wouldn't. A flush of anger overtook her.
" STOP IT! " she shouted, with all the air she had in her lungs. Only, it didn't come out like she expected it to. It was a loud hissing.
Without warning, everything stopped.
The force that was pulling them down disolved. the pain she had felt varnished.
she was shaking. Tears running down her face. She turned to look at her friend.
"A-A-April?" she asked, scared that her friend wouldn't reply.
((( OOC: so sorry about this part... it's really sad (and scary!)... this can be a kind of spoiler...)))
April Teagan - June 6, 2008 07:11 PM (GMT)
April was frozen in place. She had tripped when the ... whatever it was, had awoken, and was now on the ground. she scampered away. She was almost positive Valentina had just spoken Parseltongue, or at least was pretending.
The necklace, it seemed, was growing red in the eyes. April was sure its' eyes were rubies, and glowing brightly. Valentina had screamed very loudly ,which seemed to have angered the poor thing as well.
"Drop it..." April whimpered, trying to put as much space between her and the snake necklace as far as possible. She took out her wand as well, pointing it towards the necklace, and thus, Valentina.
"Just put it down slowly, and then we'll... get out of here."
Valentina Greysoul - June 8, 2008 12:54 PM (GMT)
Valentina was relieved that April wasn't injured.
She looked back down at the necklace. it seemed to be waiting for something to happen. It was looking straight at her (at least, she thought it was).
She looked back at April.
"Just put it down slowly, and then we'll... get out of here." April said. Valentina saw that she had took her wand out, but she doughted it would stop the situation.
she did as she was told, letting go of the necklace slowly. She didn't notice before that the necklace had burnt the inside of her hand. there was something written in her palm.
The necklace hissen, or spoke, again:
" mistress... "
for a split second, she thought that the necklace had moved, wriggled it's golden tail. But once she managed to let go of it, the scorching metal went back to the cold, dead, sparkling gold.
She sat up, removing her fringe from her sweaty face. And looked back at April. Valentina was still shaking.
"what now?" She asked. The emerald wasn't shaking so hard now, but it was still begging for freedom.
She looked down at her right palm. Written in long and swayish writing, was:
Heir
April Teagan - June 8, 2008 02:07 PM (GMT)
April could see that something was written on the girl's palm, but she couldn't make it out. Valentina looked very shocked by it, almost scared. The emerald was still trying to make a bid for its' freedom in her other hand. It seemed too much to control.
"What does your hand say?" April asked, not wanting to get any closer. Her wand was still firmly clutched in her hand.
Valentina Greysoul - June 8, 2008 02:10 PM (GMT)
Valentina looked up to see April looking worried.
"What does your hand say?" April asked her.
Valentina fidged with her necklace, unsure to tell her.
"heir" she said at last, "it sais 'heir'..." She looked up again.
"what do you think it means?"
April Teagan - June 8, 2008 02:43 PM (GMT)
"Well, let's think logically. It must be you're the heir to something... but to what? Why can't that thing like... talk again, and tell us!"
April immediately took that back, because she didn't want the snake necklace to talk ever again. She still hadn't gotten up.
"Maybe one of the teachers or something will know?" she suggested, eyes still on the necklace.
Valentina Greysoul - June 9, 2008 02:47 PM (GMT)
Valentina blinked a few times.
The idea of talking to the necklace again sounded ridiculous, apart from dangerous... but telling a teacher would be just as dangerous as the necklace...
"I-I don't know!... They could expell me!... And i'm only in my third year!"
Valentina was now panicking.
"I... I can't be expelled! what would my father say?! And Brandon will tease me for the rest of my life!" She was talking more to herself than to April.
She finally turned back to face her friend.
"Let's just go back, can't we? i need to rest!" Valentina's voice was clearly shaking.
April Teagan - June 11, 2008 07:13 PM (GMT)
"Yes, yes, we'll go back. Calm down."
April lead the way to the door, not taking her eyes off of the necklace. She and Valentine sped out, closing the door behind them. They practically ran through the halls and into the Slytherin common room, back up to Valentina's dorm.
"What now?"
