Title: Writing a Letter
Description: Mel C.

Rebecca glanced around the door and into the empty hallway once more before shutting the door closed behind her. Smiling to herself she pulled the parchment, ink, and quill from her bag and sat down near the only table hiding in the rather empty room. Setting her things on the wooden table she sat her book bag to side letting it lean against the leg of the table before turning her attention back to the blank parchment before her. Dipping her quill into the black ink she began to write....

Dear Julianna,
Hey, how have you been? It's been too long since I've written you and I thought since my classes are coming to an end and I have no homework to keep me occupied what better time then this? I've been a little worried about you I must say from your last letter, even though you told me not to be. It seems your taking things a little harder than expected. I just wanted to let you.....

Stopping at this point of the letter Rebecca bit her lip as she read over her letter so far. Should she even bring up the incident or not? Julianna had told me not to worry, she thought to herself quietly as she pondered what to do. Her thoughts though were soon interrupted by footsteps outside the closed door. Straightening up in her seat Rebecca glanced to the door her blue eyes watching the door expectantly, wondering whether the person outside would enter or not.

Melanie entered the usual silent hideout only to find that another girl was sitting in it. Unhappy, confused and slightly angry to find her secret place had been discovered, she sat down.
"Hey," she said casually to the other girl. Removing her potions assignment from her bag. She looked at it and sighed. Wit-Sharpening potion! Melanie wrote a few pick-up lines about the effects. Two lines and stuck, she had another eight still to go!

Blue eyes still watching the door way Rebecca was only slightly surprised to see a girl walk in. Taking in the other's appearance she saw the girl was white, had blonde hair and seemed to be younger then Rebecca. She must be a second or first year, she thought to herself just as she began noticing emotions showing up on the girl’s face. Watching she knew the emotions consisted of unhappiness, confused and slight anger. Frowning slightly Rebecca knew she should be the one angry, not the girl. Nevertheless she flashed the girl a small smile at hearing a casual 'hey'.

"Hello," Rebecca announced as she watched the younger girl grab a seat and sit across from her at the table. Watching as the other pulled out potions homework Rebecca couldn't help but note the sigh. Seems like no one likes potions, she thought to herself a hint of amusement conjoined with her thoughts as she turned her attention back to her letter.

Biting her lip once again as the room became consumed with an awkward silence Rebecca knew she wouldn't be able to get her letter done. Especially since she didn't have privacy. Something she always seemed to want when writing a letter. So knowing this she glanced back up toward the girl and spoke.

"So....potions homework huh?" She asked her voice filled with uncertainty. Not sure whether or not the girl wanted to have a conversation.

"Yeah, I'm not to good at it, plus it's Wit-Sharpening potion as well, which is like....." Melanie trailed off realising she had said to much. She smiled a bit at the other girl and reveiwed what she had written so far.

The Wit-Sharpening potion is designed to make the drinker feel more intelligent after consuming. Like Felix Felics it is forbidden to take before tests and also with quidditch matches due to the possibility of improving tactics. Another similarity to Felix is that taken to many times it can reduce the drinkers intelligance instead of increasing.

Melanie carfully read through her work and started to write about Edens Petal, the most crucial ingrediant.

Rebecca listened the girl's answer and simply nodding knowing how much of a pain potions could be. Even so Rebecca had to admit to herself she was enjoying it more than she ever had. She assumed it was because of the professor and personally Rebecca couldn't be more than grateful to the woman. Smiling slightly at her words she glanced up to the girl who seemed to be reading her paper over again. Biting her lip she debated on whether to keep on speaking.

Her mouth got the better of her though and she went on to ask conversationally, "So do you like potions?"

Melanie Carter - June 7, 2008 05:07 AM (GMT)
"So far, it's really good. I mean, apart from the homework of course. I hate Homework it takes up lots of reading time. You've probably seen me across the Great Hall reading my books." Melanie said.

The girl she was talking to seemed to be writing a letter to someone. She shook her head and settled down to write something about the Eden Petals.

The Eden Petal needs to be brewed correctly for the potion to take the slightist effect. The Eden Petal is perhaps the most difficult ingrediant to be obtained. The apothacary do not sell them and the only way to pick them is hard. The Eden Flower is actually unique, there is only one plant, which has been forbidden to be touched by the Minister. So a rare silver dotleaf will always be substitutited.
To be brewed:
Tear petal into shreds.
Grind carfully.
Sprinkle in after every clockwise turn.
Boil for 2 minutes.

Melanie wondered what to right next. Thenit hit her a List of Ingrediants.

Hearing the girl's words Rebecca smiled slightly. It seemed they both had something in common. Liking to read. Nevertheless Rebecca didn't say this aloud as the girl went back to working on her homework after her simple reply. Frowning slightly Rebecca turned to her letter, just to grab her things and set them in her bag that had been laying against the table leg.

All through her task Rebecca wondered if the girl wanted to be alone. By immersing herself in her homework and along with the simple answers one couldn't help but wonder. Part of Rebecca was tempted to ask if she could go, but the determined, or sometimes known as stubborn, side of her insisted she stay put. After all she was there first.

At these thoughts Rebecca turned to glance back up at the girl her blue eyes surprisingly emotionless, but not in a cold way. Watching the girl continue to write away Rebecca turned her head away, knowing she was staring and glanced around the room. After a few more minutes of awkward silence (at least awkward to her) Rebecca sighed suddenly and took out the book from her bag and began to read. Hoping to one stop her thoughts and two occupy herself.
