Title: Midnight reading
Description: Open!
Robyn Singe - June 8, 2008 02:21 AM (GMT)
Robyn had gotten a letter from her father but hadn't thought to read it. She merely thought of the cookies attatched. She HAD been talking with Zane when she was thinking about reading it, but now seemed to be the only time she could read it. She wore her regular sleep clothes, very short shorts and a tanktop. She stepped onto the slightly wet grass with grace. She unfolded the letter and looked mildly shocked. It was LONG, her father never wrote LONG letters. Robyn stopped walking, thinking she heard someone...
She shrugged, deciding no one was there although... someone really was there. Robyn began to read out loud.
"Dear Robyn, I have learned that you are companions with a Gryffindor. I do NOT approve of this and you KNOW it." Robyn paused and stuck her tounge out at the letter, she then continued to read, "Also, I learned that you have been late to almost ALL of your classes and that you have caused Ravyn to be late to several of her own classes." Robyn mumbled, "She had it coming." And then continued, "These all have made me decide on one thing. You need discipline and for now, I'm just going to make you take ballet again. I know you hate it and that's exactly why you're taking it. If you do not get any better in behavior I will keep you from all band activities, and also I will send you to live with Aunt Tinsle. Sincerly, Your Father." Robyn threw down the letter, and began pacing. "Who the hell does he think he is!? I won't take BALLET again. It was hell! And keep me from the band!? How will he do that? Make my friends stay away? They know all the ways in!! They even have KEYS. And then Aunt TINSLE. The womans INSANE what does he-" Robyn turned on her heel quickly, looking in someone's direction. "Quite being nosey, whoever you are. And COME OUT." Robyn stayed staring in that direction, not planning to move till she heard the person.
Fox Canning - June 8, 2008 03:24 AM (GMT)
More often than not Fox found himself unable to sleep these nights. Perhaps it was the unbearable way the beds at Hogwarts did not accommodate his hulking size, even though throughout the past two years he had demanded something be done. Or perhaps it was his own thoughts screaming at him that kept him from his slumber. Either way, Fox found himself wandering aimlessly about the grounds, not necessarily running from his thoughts, but trying to keep them at bay.
Amidst his absentmindedness a voice fell to his ears through the darkness of the night. He narrowed his azure eyes, peering ahead trying to find the owner. A cool smirk played on his lips as he let his eyes first fall upon those short shorts the girl was wearing. Still using the night as his cover he gave her a once over as he normally did. It had just become habit by now. He was close enough to hear her, but at a safe enough distance to not be considered shadowing her. Fox listened half-heartedly to her reading her letter out loud, turning his attention away and letting his eyes roam over the grounds and then distractedly towards the night sky; his thoughts beginning to return after a pleasant break. They were quickly dismissed again as fast as they were brought on when he was abruptly addressed.
“Nosey?” Fox let out the rumblings of a fourth coming chuckle. The tall blond turned his attention back to the girl. After examining her face a little bit more, he vaguely recognized her from his house. He knew her last name was Singe, but couldn’t recall if she was important enough for him to know her first name. “I believe you are the first person to ever use that adjective to describe me.” The Canning heir raised an eyebrow. “I assure you I am quite burdened with my own business to be concerned with anyone else’s.” Although the statement carried arrogance, his voice did not.
Robyn Singe - June 8, 2008 12:15 PM (GMT)
Robyn crossed her arms and rolled her eyes, “Well, there’s always a time for firsts isn’t there?”
Canning, he’s a Canning… doesn’t Daddy do business with the Cannings?
Yes. He does. They are quite powerful, or were, or something along those lines.
You know I don’t care for power. All it does is tear people apart.
Whatever. You look like an idiot standing there saying nothing.
What? OH! Ugh…
Robyn blinked, and shook her head slightly. “Alright then, what adjective should I use? Arrogant? Pompous? Smart Ass? I can use any of those if you like.” Robyn said coldly. “And too busy to follow a third year while she reads a letter? Really, I think that if you were too busy as you say, then you’d be inside where there are more resources to work on things. And you know, it isn’t healthy, when you’re expected to be busy, to be up at midnight. I am not expected to be busy, I CAN be up at midnight, but you… you could get serious health injuries.” Robyn smiled, and winked. Taking her hair band she pulled her thick and wavy blonde hair up and back, but bangs still tended to get in her eyes. “Well, I do like to know the name of the people I’m arguing with. I know a few things about you already, You’re a Canning, You’re father and my father did, or still do I’m not sure, work together and you’re too big for your bed.” Robyn smirked. “I however, doubt you know anything about me except that I’m a Singe, I’m from Slytherin, and I DO fit in my bed. I’m Robyn, although listening to you I bet you’d be much better friends with my twin Ravyn who is… well an arrogant, pompous, Nosey, Know-it-all smart ass.” Robyn shrugged.
Fox Canning - June 8, 2008 03:42 PM (GMT)
Fox studied her again, narrowing his eyes slightly as they both stood there in silence. Had she even heard him? After an unnecessarily long pause he got his answer.
“Well, if you used those words then you’d just end up being like everyone else, and you already don’t seem like the type to just blend in with the crowd.” Fox shrugged.
Running his hand coolly through his spiked blond hair he listened to her speak again. In a low tone he replied, “Sorry to disappoint you, but I didn’t follow you. You just happened to be in my path.” He made a motion with his hands. “And I only came out here to clear my head.” Fox shook his head as if trying to shake away the words he just spoke. “You know, I don’t even know why I’m explaining anything to you.” He muffled a confused laugh at his own expense.
The tall blond walked closer.“ Fox Canning. And I wouldn’t doubt that our fathers have done business. My father likes to make …valuable…alliances with those that he can.”
He smiled at the bed comment. “ It's one thing to know my name or my father. But my bed size?" He chuckled lightly. "Now who’s stalking who?”
“Perhaps I will have to introduce myself to your sister.” He paused. “But then again, I usually like to meet people unlike myself so that I see the error of my ways and want to change for the better.” His words were coated in a thick amount of sarcasm, but as usually carried by a light tone with his voice.
Robyn Singe - June 9, 2008 12:36 PM (GMT)
Robyn watched him, “How exactly, because I really don’t know, do I seem like the type to not blend in?” Robyn DID know how. Maybe it was the multiple piercings she wore, although now she just had her nose piercing and her ear piercings in. But maybe it was the fact that in class she would wear rainbow accessories that made lots of noise, and use the excuse that they made her concentrate better. Or maybe it was that she wasn’t really scared of teachers, they just got on her nerves sometimes. Perhaps it was because she knew so much about muggles, but that was really her father’s fault. But Robyn doubted he knew even HALF of that stuff, so she wanted to hear the answer.
Robyn didn’t move when he walked closer, though a bit of her wanted to, but that bit was hidden extremely well. “Well you see, a friend of mine has told me that the beds in the dorm are the SAME size as ours and you are… no offense, quite large which led me to conclude you won’t fit in your bed, I’m SHORT and I can touch the edge of my bed with my toes.” Robyn blew a few bangs out of her face, not out of anger or anything at all, they were just there and she didn’t want them to be.
“Oh no, you see my sister will act like a TOTAL angel, mention me to her, she’ll tell you I’m the work of the devil. She’ll tell you I’ve put people in the hospital because I got mad at them and got into a fight. I’ve done it ONCE and that’s because the girl cheated on my friend, but let’s not get into that. She’ll tell you I lie like crazy, which I don’t. She’ll look beautiful, and innocent, and smile that perfect little smile like she does to ALL the other guy that’s cross her path, then the next day she’ll push you away and have another poor little puppy to follow her around. You’ll feel like you aren’t even worth DIRT. And don’t give me the, ‘I’m strong, she won’t hurt me’ crap, seriously, my sister can tear you apart in minutes.” Robyn shrugged, “And then she’ll be an angel again and you won’t know what hit you.” Robyn didn’t like her sister, and vice-versa, except Ravyn HATED Robyn, not just dislike, absolutely HATED Robyn.
Fox Canning - June 10, 2008 02:42 AM (GMT)
Fox lightly cleared his throat. "As for you not blending in, well lets see shall we? " He paused. "You like to talk, that's apparent. Speaking your mind seems to be something you pride yourself in, Miss Singe...Whether or not it leads you to be the know it all you make me out to be." He flashed her a teasing grin.
He drew in a deep breath while he half listened to Robyn talk about herself and her sister Ravyn. So, really all Fox heard was something about doing IT once, cheating, and getting himself torn apart, and none of those seem particually bad to Fox in the context he put them in. Whether it was or wasn't what she had said, it was what Fox took in.
He noticed that she had stopped talking and quickly replied. "Again, it sounds like I may have to introduce myself to Ravyn." He winked.
Apparently Robyn wasn't aware of Fox's reputation. He didn't get into relationships, nor expect them. He couldn't even count on two hands the amount of girls he left broken hearted. His conscious was very limited and pretty much only belong to his brother and sister. He didn't care what he did to anyone else. It was always about number one.
Robyn Singe - June 11, 2008 11:54 AM (GMT)
Robyn smirked, her speak her mind? She didn’t even speak half of it, and if she did speak her mind she’d probably be banned from the school, and her own home. There was always something deeper to almost anything Robyn said, she just made it SEEM like she spoke her mind on purpose. But, she did like to talk. And, she did think Fox was only slightly a know it all.
“I never CALLED you a know it all. I CALLED you a smart ass.” Robyn told him, nodding seriously, but rolling her eyes showing that she wasn’t at all serious. Robyn stretched up her arms, her belly button piercing gleaming slightly in the moon light, she put her arms back down and shook her head at Fox.
“You ARE just like her. I bet, anyways. I bet you only got what you wanted to hear out of that, and I bet it was NOTHING like what I really said.” Robyn raised an eyebrow, “Yea, I really do think you ought to meet her.” Robyn shrugged.
You really should be more polite to him.
Really!? And since when are you polite? I AM being polite considering all the other things I could call him.
Oh Robyn… do grow up.
At least I don’t nag people to tell other people things I DON’T want to tell them.
Are you talking about the Zane incident? You do really like him, I just thought…
That you’re invading my privacy of MIND, AND making me look like a fool.
Robyn shook her head slightly, again looking as if she’d zoned out again. Oh how she hated when the voice interrupted too much.
Fox Canning - June 14, 2008 04:50 AM (GMT)
Fox eyed Robyn's naval piercing as she stretched, He couldn't help it. He was a guy. She may have been just short of a year too young for him but, there was no harm in giving her the once over. He smirked.
"Okay..Since we've already established that I really should meet your sister, how about I finish meeting you?" Although it was typical for Fox's words to sound forward, he hadn't meant it to be this time. He smirked at himself.
"So what were you doing out here so late at night? A pretty girl like yourself shouldn't be out alone."
Robyn Singe - June 15, 2008 01:48 AM (GMT)
Robyn knew he stared, and it wasn’t the fact that she FELT it, it was because she just knew. It was funny to her, because even Brandon (a boy who could’ve been her brother and already had a girlfriend) stared at her when she stretched with a shirt a bit too short. Of course, it didn’t bother her, but she wasn’t like some girls and absolutely enjoyed it, but instead didn’t care one way or the other.
Robyn smiled, innocently, “If you really want to meet me then let me tell you some things that may help you out a bit in this conversation. This one will help a lot, I’m not one who likes compliments, and also I don’t like being treated like the damsel in distress. Those idiots could use a lot of help anyway.” That last bit was referring to the damsel’s in distress. Robyn opened her mouth, closed it, thought about what to say, and opened it again, “And, I’m out here because I can’t sleep, in fact I normally am awake and outside at around this time.” Robyn shrugged.
“And, what’s a pretty boy like you doing out here? You look like you shouldn’t be out here alone by yourself either.” Robyn smirked, she would be cruel but that was just how she acted with most Slytherin people, she couldn’t help it.
Fox Canning - June 15, 2008 02:27 AM (GMT)
"I wasn't going to be your prince charming." Fox wasn't they type to interefere with anyone's business but his own. If Robyn had gotten herself into trouble, Fox was the type to say, she got herself in, she can get herself out, and be on his own way.
The only reason he bothered to talk with her was the fact that she was a Slytherin, and she was the type that he would be caught talking with. Girl. Girl was Fox's type.
"Well I guess my looks, just as yours, can be deceiving. Very deceiving." He put emphasis on the word very. Fox hid his magical prowess from everyone, keeping himself under the radar. Thats where many witches and wizards went wrong. Already announcing themselves to Hogwarts staff who then inturn alert the Wizarding world. Fox's face had been sudenly serious as he thought about needing to practice his spells in order to be able to duel his mentor.
He folded his arms and bend his upper half in toward Robyn. Finally his usual Fox Canning smirk reappeared on his face. "So..You think I'm pretty?"
Robyn Singe - June 15, 2008 07:32 PM (GMT)
Robyn shrugged, “Didn’t want you to be, never even said I did.” Robyn always listened to what she said, and what others said, very carefully. She did this, because words where just invisible traps. Words were how Robyn had gotten AJ to tell her he had in fact slept with April, not Veronica, and it was in the Room of Requirement, not the Forbidden Forest. Robyn played words around and used them for her own, that’s why she was so good at writing songs, she knew words far too well.
Part of her wanted her to be polite but that bit wasn’t actually HER but was the VOICE which told her what to do. Another part wanted to play a Ravyn and make him hers for about two seconds and crush him, the next part wanted her to just walk away ignoring him, and the part she was playing now… well just didn’t care. A lot of her attitude had to do with the fact that she hadn’t taken any of her bipolar medication in two days, that seemed to have lots of affect on her. Robyn listened to him and rolled her eyes, yes she believed he was a deceiving little brat but she doubted he hid things as well as she. She murdered a girl for God’s sake!
“Do I think your pretty…?” Robyn mused to herself, “Yes.” She finally answered, “But I would prefer to use the term Handsome but you’re not quite…” Robyn sucked in her breath, she only thought of two people this way and she was thinking about them for half a second,”…hot.” She felt slightly small when he bent down to look at her. She knew she was short, and very skinny, but she normally didn’t feel small . Robyn decided she didn’t like it.
Fox Canning - June 16, 2008 01:42 AM (GMT)
"To each their own." Fox shrugged as Robyn tried as a feeble attempt to shrink Fox's opinion of himself. "I've had numerous others tell me otherwise to keep my ego completely inflated."
Fow now just noticed the letter Robyn must have been reading out here in the dark. He cocked his head to the side, "So what, are mum and dad sending you lovin' from home?"
Fox didn't expect anyone's letters to be liek the ones he recieved from home. The nicest was usually a firm scolding, which he felt certain was the meanest many of the student at Hogwarts received.
Robyn Singe - June 16, 2008 01:56 AM (GMT)
Robyn bit her lip. What to say... Normally she would've just told him but he had said MUM and dad. Her mother was dead. And that was why Robyn was out here to begin with. The nightmares where terrifying.
"Mommy dearest is sending love from hevean or hell and so I can't hear it, and my dad is p****d off at me for being late to classes. It's not anything new, either I get a one line letter from him or a two page letter telling me what an aweful daughter I am compared to Raavyyn." Robyn put agnry inphasis on her sisters name, "My whole family hates me, so I'm pretty used to it." Robyn told him, shrugging. She wondered if it was normal to have a dad that cruelly taunted your insanity and a sister who beat the tar out of you and you couldn't say anything because she'd tell EVERYONE she murdered a girl. Was it?
