Title: Through The Bookshelves
Description: Rebecca
Craven Blackwood - June 8, 2008 08:38 PM (GMT)
Craven had never been one for studying, especially not in the library. The only reason he was here now was becuase it was safe neutral ground to meet Rebecca on. Although he'd only just meet her, and through classes none the less, she was the first person to meet the 'new' craven and he sort of hoped they could be friends even with the house difference.
He'd faced a lot over the past years and found that, more often that not, being the loner of the Slytherin house was not a good thing. Thankfully over the summer her matured and came out of his shell a little more. Now a days he was still as unapproachable and unknown as ever but he was also sarcastic, arrogant and charming. A trait he hadn't realised he possessed till he tried it out. It was a perfect slytherin mixed that suited him well.
With a sigh he stopped infront of a dull window at the back of the library, hidden deep within the shelves next to the fiction section, just like he'd told Rebecca. With no more notice paid to the bookshelves around him he turned to his reflection and adjusted the collar on the green pinstripe shirt he wore. Despite not being in class he still dressed smart; a pair of dark jeans adorned his legs and the shoes were obviously well polished. Although he wore all those high class looking items he managed to wear them in a casual way, the top three buttons of his shirt undone and the cuffs rolled up. He looked much like the arrogant slytherin should. With nothing more to do till she arrived her occupied himself by allowing his eyes to roam over the titles of near by books...

Rebecca walked through the halls of Hogwarts biting her lip in frustration. Today was the day Craven had told her to met him in the library and of course of all days she’d had to be late. Three minutes late but still late in her opinion. She’d wanted to make a good impression like she did with anyone and being late wasn’t the way to start off nicely. Of course now that she thought about it Rebecca thought it quite ironic because when she’d first met Craven it had been because she’d been late to class and in turn collided into him. I guess he shouldn’t be so surprised then, she thought to herself amused as she turned the corner and suddenly stopped in front of the Library doors.
Taking in a deep breath Rebecca ran her hands over her clothes fixing them before she made her way in. Today she’d donned a pair of tan pants and a light blue v-neck sweater which in her opinion fit her rather nicely. Her brown hair was down and flowed along her shoulders and back in waves, a natural look for her. Knowing her appearance wasn’t stunning but rather normal made Rebecca happy. After all she hadn’t been looking to achieve the stunning look and also she’d never been one to dress up when not in school uniform. She was what people called a jean and t-shirts kind of girl. Though on occasion she couldn’t shut down dressing up. In her thoughts when ever she did done a dress it made her feel sexy.
Laughing at her thoughts Rebecca shook her thoughts away letting them fade to the back of her mind as her blue eyes searched the library. She’d known Craven had said to meet him at the back of the library, but she hadn’t assumed to meet him all the way in the back. Even so she followed the rows of bookshelves glancing down each isle as she passed. When she finally came to her destination Rebecca looked to her right expectantly assuming to see Craven. She frowned though when she didn’t. Stepping forward and further into the isle she began searching until finally she called out.
“Craven….are you here?”

OOC: Ignore This Post. Sorry posted in the wrong character.
Craven Blackwood - June 8, 2008 10:12 PM (GMT)
Craven hadn't even noticed the time himself, he had always been an awful time keeper and was usually late more often that not. He supposed that was why it hadn't even noticed Rebbecca wasn't on time, but he didn't class anyone as being late unless they were ten minutes so, anyway.
He placed the trademark grin back onto his lips as he glanced around disinterestedly at the books, looking for something to amuse himself with. Maybe a funny title or a short humour story? Thankfully footsteps cut his browsing short as he turned towards the noise. After all he didn't want people to think he studied, did he? With very little curiosity he realised the footsteps were on the next isle and he almost sighed in annoyance, annoyed his distraction was interrupted and that Rebbecca still wasn't here/
He didn't sigh of course becuase shorty after the footsteps stopped Rebecca's voice rang through the bookshelves. His smirked widened as he headed over towards the approximate location of the voice, staying on his side of the book case mind. Using his hands he quickly pushed a set of books aside so he could see through to the other side. Satisfied Rebbecca hadn't seen him he raised his voice a little and spoke, still in his easy recognisable deep tones.
"Boo!"
Rebecca Emery - June 8, 2008 10:56 PM (GMT)
Rebecca frowned as her questioning voice came unanswered. Part of Rebecca couldn’t help but think that he had gone or maybe she’d read the message wrong. With her luck it was possible. Even so if either of the two possible ideas were correct she knew it was best to search until they seemed true. Sighing at her thoughts Rebecca pivoted and began to head back into the middle between the two bookshelves when she heard a sudden voice say boo. Turing her head to the left she jumped back in surprise to see Craven with his face between books in the bookshelve before her. Her hand going to cover where her heart was she listened to her pounding heart before she spoke.
“Goodness Craven you scared the living day lights out of me! You know you could have come out and answered me like any normal person would.” Saying this Rebecca couldn’t help the small hint of amusement that was conjoined with her words. She wasn’t truly angry with Craven just very surprised. She would have never expected him to show up like that. Nevertheless she knew to him it must be amusing. Anyone in this situation probably would. Shaking her thoughts from her mind Rebecca took a deep breath as her heart began to settle into it’s normal pace. Only when it did, did she speak.
“None that you’ve had your fun how about you come around the bookshelf and join me.” Saying this Rebecca smiled a little and moved away from the wall she had backed herself into when she’d jumped waiting for Craven to join her.
OOC: Haha no worries Fawne. I've done it also.
Craven Blackwood - June 9, 2008 01:08 AM (GMT)
OOC: Right account this time! Yay!
IC:
His smirk grew widely when she jumped, he hadn't expected her to be so easily spooked but then he supposed heads in book shelves were not an everyday occurrence especially ones that yelled boo at unsuspecting passers by. With another grin to himself he continued to stand where he was, not moving just yet as his mismatched eyes started a Rebbecca through the gap. Purposefully delaying his response after she had finished speaking. Finally he spoke as he stepped away from bookcase muffling his voice slightly:
"I never said i was normal person did i? Have you seen my family?" dispite being muffled there was clearly a humour tone in his voice, like it really didn't bother him whether he was normal or not.
By the time he'd finished his sentence he was half way around the book shelf, appearing moments later to the left of Rebbecca. His footsteps were neither soft nor loud, but just their. He seemed to be taking in time to swagger though, like a true slytherin. He finally stopped his walk to wink and respond.
"I'm here now aren't i?...Nice sweater by the way." his comment was off hand and more of an after thought, as despite the arrogance in his deep voice it was a genuine compliment. He obviously did have a nice bone in his body.
Rebecca Emery - June 9, 2008 01:32 AM (GMT)
Rebecca watched as Craven watched her through the gap in the shelf his mismatched eyes beautiful and unique as always. She smiled slightly at that thought. She’d always been a sucker for eyes. Always making them the first thing she looked at when meeting someone new. It was something she’d done forever. A habit of her’s she would never want to die. Shaking her head at her thoughts she turned her attention back to Craven who had moved from the gap in the book shelf and was now, as he spoke, moving towards her. Listening to his slightly muffled words Rebecca smiled. No he never had, but who’s to say she couldn’t dream? She told this to Craven as he finally, after taking his time, came to stand beside her.
“No you never did say you were normal, but I tell you now don’t crush my dreams any further Craven. They’re what I live on.” Saying this jokingly Rebecca grinned at Craven before adding, “And also I don’t think I’ve seen your family unless you have an unknown relative here that I’ve met.” Trailing off she watched as Craven winked at her and complimented her. Knowing it was a true compliment she looked down at herself to hide her surprise. When she glanced back up to Craven she had a smile on her heart shaped face.
“Yes you are here, finally. And thank you,” Rebecca said as she finally studied Craven with her blue eyes. Glancing back up to his face when she was finished she said, “You look quite nice yourself.” As she said this Rebecca laughed a little then shook her head before glancing around them.
Raising an eyebrow after a few moments of inspection she asked with a hint of amusement in her voice, “So you think were far enough back in the library?”
OOC: Good job! LOL
Craven Blackwood - June 10, 2008 11:04 PM (GMT)
He had merely continued to smirk when she mentioned not knowing his family. He didn't really need nor want to bring Fawne up in this conversation. There sibling-ship was really of no importance and would only serve to prove his family was odd and lets face it most pure blood families were. Besides he didn't want to crush her dreams and further did he?
He was still smirking when she returned his compliment, rather than having the grace to look embarrassed by the comment like most would he seemed rather smug about it. behind his eyes of course, on his face he placed a look of mock hurt, like she'd wounded him with words.
"Only nice? I was tyring for cute, damn..." his laugh was deep and short but it suited his voice well. He seemed to be able to make arrogant come across as cheeky though how was questionable..
With a mischievous grin at her last comment he guestured further back into the library towards a large window. It was only a few steps away and within moments his large swaggering steps had covered the distance and he was no lent casually against the window sill, which was big enough to be a seat.
"Now were far enough back in the library. I don't like to give people the impression i study. I have to have some mystery about me don't i?"
OOC: i did have half a reply to this last night, only i fell asleep. Sorry lol.
Rebecca Emery - June 10, 2008 11:44 PM (GMT)
As Rebecca watched Craven she took notice of the smirk that was pretty much plastered to his lips. It suited him well yes, but still she would have liked to see a smile on his face every now and then. Nevertheless she didn’t say this but watched noticing that he didn’t comment on the family part. Part of her wondered if he did have some here, but just didn’t say so. After all his smirk made her assume so. Even so she didn’t comment yet again, but merely smiled at him.
When Craven went on to let his features and mismatched eyes take on the emotion of mock hurt she laughed softly his. When he laughed along with her she didn’t hide her surprise and grinned. It was the first time Rebecca had heard laugh. No matter how short lived it was she enjoyed it. Rebecca told him this as she studied him once more.
“You know you should laugh a lot more often Craven. Even if their short lived laughs their nice.” Saying this Rebecca flashed him a grin as she tilted her head to the side as she continued to study. She wanted to comment on his teasing words about looking cute but wasn’t sure if she should. Though after a moment of debating in her mind she spoke, rather blurted out.
“You do look cute or should I say handsome?” Once the words came out of Rebecca’s mouth she blushed slightly. It wasn’t like her to blurt out things like she’d just done. Even so Rebecca knew she’d been doing it more often than usual. Speaking her thoughts before thinking them through. Nevertheless to make her comment more casual she shrugged at Craven a small smile on her lips as he gestured for her to follow. When they’d reached his destination her smile widened as she saw the window seal. It instantly reminded her of the one in the Astronomy tower where she sat to watch the sunset.
"Now were far enough back in the library. I don't like to give people the impression I study. I have to have some mystery about me don't I?"
When Rebecca heard these words she came out of her stupor and laughed. “What’s wrong with studying huh? It helps you in getting good grades and good grades usually show people your smart. So you don’t want to look smart?” Pausing at this point she went to stand in front of him and lean into the wall to her left before she went on, her tone amused. “By the way I think you’re already too mysterious. Why don’t you drop some of the mystery. It can get old after awhile you know.” As she finished saying this Rebecca glanced over to Craven her blue eyes intent as she watched his reactions to her words.
OOC: No worries. =]
Craven Blackwood - June 11, 2008 01:16 AM (GMT)
He smiled, it was small and only just surpassed his smirk but still genuine. It took a lot to get a real smile out of Craven, it used to take a lot to get a response at all but thankfully he'd gotten over the apathy. His voice still held its usual cheeky tones as it spoke but the comment could be taken either way, he didn't bare his soul for anyone but he could do slightly sincere.
"I'll laugh if you laugh with me, laughing usually pretty boring on your own...Oh and i prefer cute, handsome far to adult..."
He winked when he said cute, showing he was teasing. He didn't expect her to compliment him at all he was still new to this whole friendship think but he was happy she could take his humour the right way and not be offended. He paused as if thinking on something deathly important before the smirk replaced the smile once more and his comments became cheeky.
"You should blush more often." the comment could have been taken in several ways, the completely innocent way or the implicate way. What ever way he meant it was clear, but just form the tones he applied in his deep voice it was clear her was teaing her, though not in a malice filled way.
He watched her walk to the wall from where he was lent, and watched as she lent against it. Their posture almost mirroring though his was obvisouly more masculine. Despite the fact he was built in a supple way rather than a brawny way.
"I don't need to look smart, people assume already...And as for my Mysterious personality, maybe i was just born this way. Or maybe I'll let you ask a few questions, just to quench your curiosity. What dear Rebecca would you like to know?"
Her rolled her name over his tongue, like he was purposefully drawing the syllables out, his one green eye and one hazel eye boring into her blue orbs. Seeing if he could distract her form the task he just set, for humour purposes of course. He didn't really have anything to hide.
OOC: i hope this make sense, i wrote it in sections. sorry.
Rebecca Emery - June 11, 2008 08:24 PM (GMT)
As Rebecca watched Craven she was fully surprised at the small genuine smile she saw surpass his smirk and land on his lips. She wasn’t expecting it now or ever. Though now it was there for her to see she grinned at the Slytherin and wished suddenly she had a camera. At this this thought she laughed quietly the phrase ‘take a picture it lasts longer’ coming to her mind at this point. Nevertheless she didn’t have a camera. Knowing that though didn’t damper her spirits. She continued on smiling even after she heard his answer.
“Well then I have to tell you Craven you might be laughing a lot because when it comes to me and laughter. We’re best friends.” Saying this Rebecca let her smile soften from his wide stance as she listened to him tease her again. Ending his tease with a playful wink. Shaking her head at him, her small smile still plastered on her lips, she said simply, “Fine cute then.”
As she finished her simple comment Rebecca let her smile die down as she watched Craven go into to deep thought before her. Watching him she wondered what words of hers caused him such thinking. Was it the studying? Or maybe the mystery part? Her curiosity was interrupted though as she watched him smirk and speak. His comment caught her by surprise, just like his smile had, and she felt her cheeks warm. Rebecca wasn’t sure how to take the comment until she heard the underlying teasing conjoined with his words. Knowing this she only smiled.
“Well it depends on what you say to me whether I blush or not. Then again it also depends on my words and actions. Though knowing that my words or actions don’t usually lead to me blushing I have to say it’s all up to you if I do or not.” Trailing off as Rebecca finished this she smiled over at Craven shrugging her shoulders. She felt she rambled a bit there, but even so her words were true. It all depended on both their words and actions whether she blushed or not.
Shaking her thoughts away at this point Rebecca continued to lean against the wall next to Craven and waited for him to answer her questions. Once he did Rebecca couldn’t help but smile. They assumed he was? Well, she thought, wouldn’t that be easy. As he went on to talk about him being mysterious and asking her what she would like to know Rebecca grinned. She did need her curiosity quenched so knowing this she thought on what she wanted to know. All long never breaking eye contact with Craven who seemed to want to distract her. She smiled at knowing that and finally with a ‘ha! You didn’t distract me’ tone she asked her question.
“Alright Craven…how about….what do you like to do for fun?”
OOC: No don’t worry, I got it. =]
Craven Blackwood - June 11, 2008 10:59 PM (GMT)
His smirk became a slightly more genuine smile, it was a strange expression to see on his face but it was obviously he found Rebecca a good enough friend to smile around her. Truth be told he found her funny and kind and he liked that better than the coldness of his own house. With cheeky tones still in his voice he replied to her blushing comment, no shame lacing his tones.
"I suppose I'll have to make you blush more often then." he chuckled this time rather than laughed, the sound was short and sharp but rather charming.
When she held his gaze he was almost disappointed she didn't get distracted, most people got confused by his eye colour or the intensity of his stare but not her. He found it, dare her think it, endearing. With a slight smile still tugging at the one edge of his lips he adopted a thinking posture and closed his eyes, almost as if thinking about his answer. He was of course since his response would have atomically been "fun?" but he supposed he owned her a true answer of sorts.
"I suppose teasing is not a fair answer?" he raised an eyebrow in question, both eyes now open, though he didn't wait for a response before continuing. "I like music i suppose and Cars, muggle cars." He almost seem nervous as he added the last thing to his list, after all it wasn't normal for a pure blood wizard to like driving around in muggle cars. But what his father didn't know and his step mother kept quiet wouldn't get him in trouble, besides he couldn't drive on muggle roads yet anyway.. He supposed a quick change of topic was in order and his vice was carefully composed when he next spoke.
"What about you Rebecca? What do you do for fun?"
Rebecca Emery - June 11, 2008 11:49 PM (GMT)
Hearing Craven’s comment about having to make her blush more she just smiled and shook her head. She didn’t mind blushing…at least not that much. Sometimes it made her feel vulnerable and to her that was a feeling she didn’t like to feel much. Even so she just nodded as his comment as if to say go right ahead. This should be an interesting meeting, she thought to herself half amused as she nodded to the Slytherin.
Shaking her thoughts away at this point Rebecca listened to Craven chuckle, the sound an enjoyment to her ears. When it abruptly stopped though she frowned just slightly, only for it to be replaced by an amused grin as Craven shifted his posture and closed his eyes. Showing her that he was now thinking and shouldn’t be bothered. It made her laugh at this, her laughter soft and quiet as she didn’t want to disturb his thinking. When he finally came to and answered with a question she felt her lips pull into a smile.
"I suppose teasing is not a fair answer?"
Rebecca shrugged at his question as she watched him raise an eyebrow in question then quickly go on, not letting her comment. Along hearing his true answers Rebecca couldn’t help but feel he was almost hesitant with them. Even so she didn’t comment and merely nodded waiting for him to finish so she could comment. Only when he did, did she speak.
“Music and cars huh? They both sound like fun. I mean I do enjoy music but when it comes to muggle cars I don’t get to enjoy them much. Though when I do I have to say I prefer the fast ones.” Saying this Rebecca grinned wildly. She loved going fast and anyone who knew her well knew that. It was something most were terrified to do and couldn’t help but scoff at her for her ways. Nevertheless she didn’t care what other thought.
“What do I like to do for fun? Well….” Trailing off Rebecca thought on her answer, biting her bottom lip as she thought. When she finally did come up with her answers she brushed her hair back from her face and behind her ear before speaking. “I love to go fast as you might have noticed from my earlier comment. I love to watch sunsets. Ummm….I like to read and like to fly on my broom. Oh and of course hang out with my friends. Hmm…..anything specific you wanted to know if I liked?” Asking this Rebecca let her blue eyes stray to Craven as she shifted her position so that her hands were now in her pants pockets.
Craven Blackwood - June 12, 2008 02:59 PM (GMT)
OOC: Hah stupid moment, Cravens only 16. He's uh driving on a field lol.
IC:
He gave her a curious look when she said she liked to go fast. That was something he hadn't expected her to say and he found it rather curious. Most of the girls he knew had no liking for going fast and the other were far to callous to talk of such things. He almost wanted to offer to drive her around sometime, but aside form the fact his father wouldn't approve Craven was also too young to drive off of the field his step mother had taught him on.
He crossed his arms over his chest and leaned back further into the wall, contemplating jumping up onto the window sill to sit down, but he thought better of it. Besides it was a little rude to start climbing around in the middle of a conversation. With a small smile still tugging up one corner of his lips he continued to speak.
"I'd be happy to challenge you t a game of quidditch anytime, if you like flying fast you'll love a blackwood game of quidditch. Not that you'd win of course." his voice adopted a teasing tone when he told her she'd lose. He couldn't know that of course, she could have been the best player in her year for all he knew.
He watched her change her posture and tuck her hands into her pockets. His smile turned into a frown momentarily before it quirked back up on one corner. He supposed it was stupid but he disliked her shoving her hands in her pockets, he saw it as a nervous gesture. More for his own comfort than hers he unfolded his arms and reached forward wrapping his hand around her wrist and gently pulling her hand from her pocket.
"You shouldn't stand like that, it makes you look...fragile, nervous."the grin that followed his words was a little embarrassed but he let go of her wrist and lent back, replacing the small smile that had adorned his lips previously, now bothering to respond to her question.
"I just wanted to know what you liked in general." He chuckled " I guess its your turn now."
Rebecca Emery - June 12, 2008 08:26 PM (GMT)
OOC: Alright, gotcha, lol.
IC: Watching Craven as they were talking Rebecca couldn’t help but be more than happy that he was starting to open up and talk and actually smile! It was only small, but she knew that was a start. Smiling she kept her thoughts to herself and listened to his words about challenging her to a Blackwood style Quidditch game. At his words Rebecca couldn’t help but blush in embarrassment. She would probably never take on his challenge because well….she’d never played a Quidditch game in her life. Sure she’d watched them but that was about it. Even so knowing this she shifted uncomfortably and glanced up to Craven.
“Well I’m sure you’d beat be any day Craven,” Pausing at this point she glanced up to him once more with her flushed cheeks and a small sheepish smile. “The reason why I say this is because….well….I’ve actually never played a game in my life….” Trailing off at this point she let her blue eyes glace to Craven only in curiosity as how he would react. Her last words were said quietly, but she he would have heard them. The only reason why this was an embarrassment to her was because she assumed she was the only person at Hogwarts who hadn’t ever played. Nevertheless she tried to make her embarrassment go. Once it was gone the feeling was replaced though with something else as Craven took in her posture, frowned, and made his way closer to her.
With the close proximity Rebecca blushed as she did when anyone moved closer to her. She was surprised as she felt him gently take her wrist in his hand and pull it out of her pocket. When he spoke after finishing his task and let off an embarrassed smile she rasied an eyebrow at him in confusion. She wondered why it mattered to him. After all it was her problem if she looked nervous and….fragile? Laughing just slightly to shake of her thoughts Rebecca let her hands hang at her sides not sure what to do with them now. Her thoughts on what to do though were interrupted by Craven’s words and chuckle. Smiling over at him her cheeks going back to normal as she got over both her embarrassment of the quidditch comment and surprise of the close proximity, she finally spoke.
“My turn for a question? If so then….hmmm….” Pausing for a moment Rebecca glanced around them as if a question would pop out at her from one of the books, trying to think of a question that wasn’t too personal. When she finally got one she smiled and let her blue eyes stray to Craven. “What’s your favorite food?” As she asked this her blue eyes filled with amusement. It was a simple yet fun question she thought.
Craven Blackwood - June 14, 2008 11:39 PM (GMT)
He didn't really react when she said she'd never played quidditch, though if he thinks on it later her would likely offer to teach her. At the time he'd been too busy scowling at her posture. It annoyed him no end when women appeared fragile it reminded him of his mother, step mother, and on some levels Fawne who was about as tough as glass when it came down to it. He'd seen each and everyone one of them hurt and dispite being an arrogant flirt, he wouldn't let any lady get hurt under his watch.
His thoughts were cut short when he noticed the cut blush on Rebecca's cheeks at his actions and there closeness. He was half tempted to hug her and see what happened but he knew he shouldn't push his luck to far. After all they were wizards and witches and some hexes left scars...
The one sided smile was back on his lips once more as he watched her recover and go on to ask him a question. He found her cute and charming. He was becoming rather attached already, he would certainly call her a friend in a heart beat. As for the smile, well it would probably only ever be seen by Rebecca and his family, his slytherin friends had no such privilege. As far as they were concerned he was and emotionless, but cunning, rock. His mismatched eyes met her blue ones easily and his gaze was somewhat cheeky.
"Cherries..."his voice was deep and his reply almost automatic, it was true, his favorite food was cherries. He had always preferred fruit over snack food. He reached forward, closing the distance once more, as surprisingly nimble, yet calloused, fingers bushed a strand of hair behind her ear. He was trying to make her blush again.
"My turn. By any chance is you favorite colour red?" he chuckled then and removed his hand allowing the distance to increase once more.
Rebecca Emery - June 15, 2008 12:30 AM (GMT)
As Rebecca watched the emotions and expressions on Craven’s face she couldn’t help but wonder why they were in place. Especially with her. For example she couldn’t see why it bothered him so much that she had looked nervous and fragile with her hands in her pockets. The only reason why she came to this conclusion was because of his words and scowling face which was now peering at her. She frowned slightly wondering, finally not being able to hold her curiosity in anymore she went ahead and blurted out, “Why does me looking nervous and fragile bother you so much Craven?”
Looking to him her blue eyes interested Rebecca half wondered if he would answer her. Though the other part of her was sure he would, after all they were friends right? She knew she considered him a friend already, a good one that. And from taking in his flirting words, questions, and actions she believed he did to. At least she hoped so. Shaking her head at these thoughts Rebecca watched as his mismatched eyes locked gazes with her own blue ones and smiled that one sided smile. When he finally answered her question with one word she smiled at him laughing softly knowing she would have never expected that answer.
Her laughter though soon died as she watched Craven close the space between them once again. As he lifted his hand to brush away a strand of her hair and push it behind her ear Rebecca felt her blush and badly at that. She wasn’t used to so much closeness, though part of her couldn’t help but think that would change if she hung out with Craven so much. Nevertheless even though she wasn’t used to the closeness Rebecca felt herself frown as Craven moved away once again and returned to his spot against the window. Frown still there and cheeks still red from the blush she hardly heard his teasing question. Though once she did fully register it Rebecca turned on Craven and pointed at him a knowing grin now on her face.
“I know what your doing! Do you enjoy making girl’s blush Craven?” Saying this Rebecca let her hand fall to her side as she noticed she was now standing in front of Craven instead of next to the wall. The red in cheeks brightening once more she stepped back, but let her blue eyes stay trained on Craven as a hint of amusement filled her eyes. “Oh and by the way no red is not, blue is.”
Craven Blackwood - June 15, 2008 09:43 PM (GMT)
He didn't respond to her question about being fragile, though he didn't move his gaze from hers... The fact was he was a slytherin and every bit of information could be used against him. He couldn't see Rebecca doing so but still. Besides could he stop being so naturally mysterious and just hand out of piece of inner knowledge to a girl he'd only really met a few times? Yes he probably could, she'd been nothing but trusting to him, why couldn't he extend the same trust even if it wasn't in his nature...
His attention was called back as he responded to her questioning about foods and he lent forward to reach to her. When she responded to his closeness by blushing he smiled, he found it so entertaining to make her blush. He was a flirt yes, but this was different he'd made it his goal to see just how much he could affect her. He noticed her frown when he stepped back and he almost took some sort of possessive joy at that, not in a mean sense but in the sense that she actually wanted him to tease her.
With out realising it she closed the gap as she spoke, protesting against Craven's reply about her favorite color being red. He just watched with amused eyes as she realised her reaction and stepped back. Almost in instinct he closed the distance by taking a mirroring step forward. his voice deep and full of humour when he spoke a grin on his lips.
"Funny i did peg you for a fan of red, or yellow...i suppose blue is the colour of your eyes though...I don't bite by the way, there's no need to step away from me..."t hat little one sided half smile worked it was onto his lips as he leaned a little closer to speak again. He'd made his choice and he would answer that question, but he didn't have to do so in detail.
"Women i care for should not look fragile, it leads them to harm." his voice was rough, raw almost like blocking back memories, Though he still managed to cover it with a cheeky charm like he was calling all the females he knew clumsy or something of the sort.
OOC: I hope this make sense, the first line of the second paragraph is sort of a recap of his last post, so i could fit together his response...Sorry. heh.
Rebecca Emery - June 16, 2008 09:34 AM (GMT)
As Rebecca backed away from Craven realizing where her reaction had left her, closer to him, she went off and answered his teasing question about her favorite color being red. As she finished her answer she watched as Craven took a step forward making it so they were now as close as they’d been when she’d stepped forward. A light blush filled her cheeks as her blue eyes looked up to take in the grin that brightened his face. As he commented on her words Rebecca stood her ground and didn’t move one inch away from. She, after all, felt like she had to prove something to Craven and being as determined and stubborn as she was she would do it one way or another.
As his words registered in her mind Rebecca laughed aloud. The bite remark got her thinking about their second or third meeting in potions class. It was a short one, but she remembered it well. Craven had said the words along with the sentence about her worrying her reputation was going to be ruined by being seen with him. It had come up because of how surprised she was that he’d sat down next to her of all people. Grinning at Craven she replayed her answer from the past in her mind as she let amusement fill her tone before she spoke.
“If you did bite I’m sure you would have done so already.” Saying this Rebecca’s grin widened, if it was even possible as she still stood right in front of him. Her words were pretty much exact as to how she replied in the past. Part of her wondered if he would remember and the memory would come to him. Tuning out her thoughts for a moment Rebecca watched as Craven leaned in even closer and spoke his next words. She blushed almost automatically, but still didn’t move. Instead she stood frowning slightly as she took in his words.
“Leads them to harm?” Was what Rebecca finally asked as she tried to search for the right question. Part of her wasn’t even sure, because of the rough and rawness conjoined with his answer, that it was even a good one to ask. Nevertheless she thought it a little better to ask this one then ask about the caring part he let slip into his reply. After all he was a human being and most didn’t like to share their feelings. And no matter how curious she was on why he’d said it she wouldn’t let herself ask. Shaking her head slightly she let the corners of her lips pull into a soft and gentle smile.
“You don’t have to answer that if you don’t want.” Pausing for a moment she let her blue eyes stray to his mismatched ones to reassure her him that he didn’t have to answer before saying, “It’s your turn to ask a question.”
OOC: Yours was good. Hope mine made sense too. =]

He grinned when he heard her repeated a familiar line, the smile going from a lopsided one to a full one. It suited him well thought it was a unusual expression to see on is lips. He remembered that lesson quite well and the sense of de ja vu was immense. That lesson set the tone that the rest of there relationship would develop on. Or so he thought at least. Her watched her blush again with some sort of pride, it wasn't exactly his ego's pride but he liked how she reacted to him.
The pride suddenly vanished when she questioned his reply, memories pulling to the front of his mind as the smile dropped slightly to a vacant expression. With a small silent sigh he prepared to answer only to have his train of thought be interrupted by her words. She was offering a chance not to answer. He suddenly felt a great deal of gratitude for Rebecca. She wasn't pushing him to act any diffrent nor reveal his past, she was wiling just to befriend him as he was; flaws and all.
her meet her blue eyed gaze with his own, still not decreasing the distance between them. Aside from breathing he didn't seem to moth. That was of course until he laughed, a happy laugh not a mocking one,. The laughter lasted only a short while before a gentle mirroring smile was on his lips in response to her, though his eyes seemed to be laced with teasing mischief.
"You're easily distracted aren't you? There you go asking deep and meaningful question only to tell me to ask you instead..." he paused as if collecting his thoughts. "I suppose its only fair i share some of my history with you, as long as you return the favour once in a while..."
His expression was sincere now, the gentle smile looking foreign on his face and his eyes still gazing into hers as if gauging her reaction to his demands. He didn't wait for her reply before launching into his explanation, though short and vague it was still more than he;d ever handed out before.
"how to start...Yes it leads them to harm. My mother died when i was young, my step mother has suffered a lot emotional if not physically. And don't even get me started on Fawne. That girl is a walking trouble magnet...Can you perhpas see why i dont like them, you, to look fragile now? "his voice, though still deep was calmer than before, like in a practiced patient tone.
Rebecca Emery - June 18, 2008 12:34 AM (GMT)
At seeing Craven’s reaction to her comment about not biting she instantly knew he remembered because of the full out grin spread out on his face. Rebecca grinned along with him glad to finally see him smile fully and not to mention that he remembered. For a moment it was almost as if he needed to remember or otherwise things would change between the two of them. Nevertheless she was glad he remembered.
Shaking her thoughts away at that moment she went on to ask how just looking fragile lead the women he cared about to harm. The reaction she got was one Rebecca knew was coming. The smile on his face faltered to leave him with a vacant expression. She barely heard the silent sigh but noticing his chest rise and fall along with his shoulders lead her assumptions to be correct. That he had indeed sighed. Nevertheless she watched on and blinked in surprise at his sudden laughter. It was happy and ended with a gentle smile.
Seeing these sudden changes in Craven made Rebecca not only smile but her left her heart beat speeding up a little. That in turn made her blush just the slightest hoping he didn’t hear her heart, but half knowing with her luck he probably did. As she kept her blue eyes gaze locked with his she noticed the teasing mischief and laughed quietly. He sure is one for teasing, she thought to herself. After all half of their conversation had been nothing but teasing. Not that she, or even he, cared. She had to admit she’d actually been enjoying it.
Smiling at her thoughts Rebecca went ahead and listened to what Craven said. Grinning at the easily distracted part she only nodded in answer. Truthfully, she could be sometimes. A pain it was, but it did happen to make conversation’s interesting to say the least. As she took in the second half of what Craven said and he looked into her eyes to see a reaction she only smiled. She didn’t mind telling him more about herself. She was actually excited and happy that he was going to get to know her better. That was unless he didn’t want to. She frowned slightly at that thought before tuning back into his deep voice.
As he finished his answer to her question of leading to harm Rebecca let herself nod before she commented, her blue eyes understanding as she gazed at Craven. “I understand. And I’ll promise you now that I won’t look fragile around you. If I am all you have to do is tell me so. By the way I’m not as weak as you might think Craven. I know how to handle myself if the need arises.” Trailing off she gazed into Craven’s mismatched eyes before tilting her head to side slightly and smiling.
“By the way if you ever want to know anything about me, don’t be afraid to ask.” Asking this Rebecca’s voice held a hint of happiness. She was glad to tell Craven about herself. It was weird feeling, but a good feeling in her opinion.
Craven Blackwood - June 22, 2008 11:12 PM (GMT)
He didn't hear her hearts speed up at his actions, though he did notice the blush, his eyes smiling at it lightly. His gaze still locked on hers. Hes actions seemed a little calmer than before almost as if the topic of his past was still a little raw. Though if anything he seemed more intense with this new bout of emotion. Though it wouldn't last long, only until he felt like he could let the topic lie comfortably.
He smiled at her reply, about being able defend herself, it was a calm smile in some sense like he felt bad that he couldn't allow her to be fragile. He suppose it was a mental thing of his, he wasn't exactly sure he caused the damage or was even linked to it but he had just grown up being around it and his mind made a mental connection between the two. His voice was still its normal rough teasing self but somehow slightly softer. His hand reaching forward to play with the strand of her hair he had recently tucked behind her ear. The movement was absent minded like he active without thinking. Which lead to some questionable lines of thought.
"I'm sure you can but if you insist on spending time with me from now on I'll have to look after you." his attitude suddenly seemed lest intense as he responded with a crooked smile to her smile. Suddenly all the emotion gone again as soon as it appeared, though not in a bad away.
"Ask i shall then, but we'll make this game fair, no? For everything you tell me I'll tell you something in return, as long as you want to know that is..." he didn't wait for a reply nor did his voice sound any less confident at the end of his sentance despite the fact he was was expressing a very real worry. "Hum...Tell me about you family?"
Rebecca Emery - June 23, 2008 12:46 AM (GMT)
As Rebecca watched Craven react to her words she had to admit she became a little concerned. It wasn’t ever she saw such emotion with his expressions, tone of voice, and actions. He seemed calm, too calm in her opinion and she couldn’t help the concern shining through her blue eyes which continued to gaze into his mismatched ones. As she continued to watch him she could only curse herself for asking about the subject. It seemed to bring back raw memories for him and truthfully it hurt her to see him like this. An emotion which she tried not to let show, though if she succeeded she wasn’t sure.
Her thoughts about being concerned though soon vanished and replaced themselves with a new emotion for Rebecca as she watched Craven extend his hand and begin to play with the strand of hair he’d earlier tucked behind her ear. She stiffened at the sudden touch but quickly relaxed as she felt her heart beat speed up even more than last time. Glancing to Craven briefly Rebecca looked to him as she wondered if he even knew what he was doing. Though she didn’t get to dwell on those thoughts long because he spoke. His voice still teasing yet soft. A sound Rebecca couldn’t help but admit she liked coming from him.
"I'm sure you can but if you insist on spending time with me from now on I'll have to look after you."
Hearing these words made Rebecca laugh softly as her blue eyes sparkled with amusement. “I think no matter how much I tell you I can take care of myself you’ll continue to insist that you do. So to save us both the trouble I give you permission to look after me. Though I have to ask….what makes you think I want to spend more time with you?” Asking this Rebecca grinned wildly. Her question held tons of amusement knowing Craven was right. After this Rebecca knew she’d want to spend more time with him whether he liked it or not.
As Rebecca smiled at her train of thought she watched the intenseness of Craven’s emotions die down. The sudden change left Rebecca glad and less concerned then before.
As he went ahead and continued speaking she listened to his words and only nodded in okay to him. It seemed fair to her and she didn’t mind at all. Maybe, after all, they could get away from all the pain and move on to happy memories. When he went ahead and asked about her family she instantly knew that it might happen that way. Smiling at the question she went ahead and answered.
“My family? Well it’s only me and my parents at home. And my parents are well….great. My mum’s a fun girl and very intelligent, even though sometimes it might not seem that way and my dad loves to joke. They’re both a lot like myself, except for my mum, she’s a lot calmer than my dad and I. When it comes to my relatives there’s really not much to tell. They’re great and all, but I don’t see them much. Only once or twice a year.” Trailing off Rebecca shrugged before smiling at Craven and asking, “How about your family?”
Craven Blackwood - June 23, 2008 10:42 PM (GMT)
He noticed her stiffen when he played with her hair but it took him a full moment to realise what he was even doing. He was torn between stopping and claiming it was a blushing ploy and just continuing to play with her hair until she stopped taking notice. He didn’t have to make much of a choice though because she relaxed again and he was already moving on to talk about protecting her.
He quirked his eyebrow when she laughed at his words, he was being deadly serious although he was amused by her reaction. He wanted to get his point across without reeling off his past and sounding like a complete nut case. However her words saved him from deliberating it further and he relaxed slightly satisfied she got the point; a little at least. His attitude change immediately when she spoke those words “Though I have to ask….what makes you think I want to spend more time with you?” his smile suddenly turning into a cocky grin as he decided he was happy he was still playing with her hair. This gave him a perfect excuse for his next actions.
With deliberate slowness he brushed the back of his hand across her jaw line before returning to playing with the same strand of hair. If someone were to walk up to the pair the moment would have looked overly intimate but in all honesty it was in Cravens nature to tease and flirt. Not that he minded, he rather liked provoking Rebecca into reacting. He only hoped their growing friendship survived his personality flaws. His voice was teasing as he spoke, confident in its deep tones.
“Oh i know you want to spend more time with me. “He laughed once more, the reaction causing his chest to rise and fall rapidly. His attitude now completely changed from the emotionally intense one before. He smiled that crooked grin he was beginning to adopt around her. He was watching her think, his hand no longer playing with her hair but resting on her shoulder; almost in an absent minded manner. His words were sincere when he spoke, almost as if he couldn’t bring himself to tease her about her family. He didn’t know them personally after all, though his tone did turn humours at the end of his sentence.
“They sound cool, and who needs to see relatives aside from birthdays and Christmases” his tone didn’t change from humour filled as he spoke of his family, despite their arguments and differences his family were still a unit. “My house is a full one unfortunately and also a bit of a nut house but it’s massive. I’ll take you to visit some time if you like... There’s my Father who’s right pain in the ass, all rules and formalities. Then there’s my step mum she’s sweet but quiet and always looking after the baby; Marcus. Oh and you can’t forget Fawne but she’s rarely in the house, you’ll know her from around here the dreamy one from gryffindor. Of course add me to that list and you can see the amount of fun in that home” he laughed again almost as if in on a private joke.
Rebecca Emery - June 24, 2008 12:58 AM (GMT)
As Rebecca watched Craven’s gentle smile turn into a cocky grin at her words of wanting to spend more time with him her own grin faltered knowing something was coming next. When the back of his hand suddenly, slowly, brushed across her jaw line her blue eyes closed briefly as if trying to memorize his touch one might think but in reality she was trying to slow her now racing heart and lessen the blush that creped into her cheeks making them pink for the millionth time that day. When her eyes opened seconds later it was to see Craven’s hand moving back toward the strand of her hair and begin to play with it once more. Part of Rebecca wanted to groan aloud, but she didn‘t. Did he enjoy tormenting her like this? She asked him this as she let her blue eyes gaze into his mismatched ones.
“Do enjoy tormenting me Craven?” Asking this Rebecca’s voice was soft as a small glint of mischievousness sparkled through her eyes. She had an all of a sudden urge to get back at him for his ways. He was purposely dragging her out of her comfort zone, making her vulnerable than ever, by his teasing and flirtatious personality. In turn because of this she wanted to make him feel uncomfortable hence the sudden mischievous glint in her blue eyes. Though how to get back at him she wasn’t quite sure yet. Coming out of her thoughts the only words that came from Rebecca’s mouth to comment on his ‘Oh I know you want to spend more time with me’ was, “We’ll have to see about that.”
As Rebecca went ahead and answered Craven’s question about her family she felt his hand let go of the strand of her hair and lay instead upon her shoulder. She couldn’t help but glance briefly to his hand smiling just slightly as she turned back around and listened to his sincere yet humorous filled words. It did seem like Craven had a house full by the sounds of it. Part of her wondered how he could handle it. And he had a little brother and sister? She smiled wondering how he acted around them. That would be very interesting to see, she thought briefly as he went ahead and spoke about taking her there to visit if she would like. At this sudden revelation Rebecca grinned. Wouldn’t that be the perfect way to get back at him in a way? Maybe, just maybe, she thought to herself before she commented.
“Your family sounds interesting to say the least. I think I might have to take you up on that offer of coming and visiting your home and family. I mean what better way to get to know you right?” Grinning at Craven as she said this the mischievous glint from earlier sparkled in Rebecca’s eyes once again as she suddenly lifted her right hand to his cheek and patted it gently before letting it rest there and announcing, “It’ll be so fun, I’m sure of it.”
Craven Blackwood - June 24, 2008 10:18 PM (GMT)
He watched her blue eyes close and her cheeks redden once more. He didn’t know why she reacted the way she did but he assumed it was something to do with personal space boundaries, something Craven had no sense of. This was his immediate thoughts anyway since any other theory seemed absurd and involved guessing how her emotions worked.
This was never easy with anyone, especially not women. He held her gaze easily, happy that she didn’t seem put off by his mismatched coloured eyes like most people seemed to be. His musings were cut short when she spoke, her tone mischievous. He smiled, properly not a grin or smirk but a smile. He could tell from her tone she was after revenge and he wouldn’t stop her, he was actually glad she was. It was something they could have in common. His voice was smug when he spoke as if daring her to try.
He went on to tell her about his family, still amused from her reaction so his tone was still light. He decided though that he wanted to pick up on that previous strand of conversation and backtracked a little too. Family might have been a getting to know one and other topic, but this topic was much more interesting.
“Of course I enjoy tormenting you. Don’t you? It’s so fun to watch you react.” He winked at her then an unreadable emotion flickering through his eyes. “And the day you don’t won’t me around I’ll go. But I won’t hold my breath for that moment in time.” He raised an eyebrow now daring her to disagree, if she sent him away he’d go of course. Flirt or not it wasn’t in his nature to torment girls in a maleficent way.
It was then she reached up and patted his cheek, resting her hand there. Without even blinking he reached his spare hand up to hers, holding it in place. She could take his reaction in whatever way she wanted since he couldn’t quite figure it out himself but he wasn’t bothered by the touch, his eyes seemed curious to why she did it but he didn’t blush like she would have. He merely seemed as confident as always, which could get quiet infuriating. Her words finally sunk in and cut across his inner monologue. His thoughts acting now instead of his instincts.
“Invite accepted, how about this summer? This weekend maybe?” his voice was calmer than normal, just as deep but maybe a little rougher around the edges. It didn’t matter for long though because his eyes showed clear amusement at her declaration and fun and he nodded his head slightly in agreement, though keeping her hand in place with his. His voice was smug and teasing when he spoke again, the roughness gone now.
“I’m sure it’ll be fun but just don’t listen to my family too much.”
OOC: Does that make sense, i kinda butchered it a little so she could response to his teasing. opps lol.
Rebecca Emery - June 25, 2008 12:37 AM (GMT)
As Rebecca listened to Craven’s smug and amused voice as he went back and answered her tormenting question she only smiled, though it wasn’t a full one. Of course she did enjoy the flirting and teasing, but it was hard to ignore the vulnerable feeling she got every time. Though if Rebecca looked deep down she had to admit she was getting used to all the closeness.
“Craven I’m sure you know there won’t ever come a time when I don’t want you around.” Saying this Rebecca’s voice was soft finally giving in and admitting she enjoyed his company no matter how uncomfortable, vulnerable feeling, or annoyed he made her feel. Her blue eyes locked onto his gaze as she said this sincerity flashing through them as she waited for his response to her words. Very curious on how he would react though already having a feeling.
His reaction was delayed though as Rebecca went ahead and spoke about how fun it would be visiting his home and family then going along and patting his cheek with her hand before letting it rest there. His reaction to this, by letting his spare hand hold hers in place, made Rebecca look to his face suddenly very aware of the warmth of his hand. As she looked into his eyes and face to see the emotions hidden there the only ones she came up with were curiosity and confidence. At seeing the confidence she suddenly felt envious of him. Didn’t her touch bother him in any way? Pondering this she felt her lips pull up into a rather sudden smile. She was now very curious and she was going to react on it.
Tuning back into Craven’s voice and reality Rebecca let her curiosity rest for a moment at his questioning words. “This summer sounds great and this weekend sounds even better.” Pausing for a moment Rebecca listened on as he spoke once more. His smug yet teasing words just made her smile. Looking to Craven she suddenly glanced to their hands which rested upon his cheek. Suddenly her thumb began to caress his cheek softly, a little bit of a hard task because of his hand resting on top of hers, but she made it work nonetheless. Letting her blue eyes suddenly look to Craven, first at his face then to his eyes she smiled as she stopped her task of caressing his cheek with her thumb and instead turned her hand and took a hold of his hand interlacing her fingers with his.
“I’ll be sure to not pay attention to what your family says. Anyways what’s the worse that could happen…” Trailing off Rebecca squeezed Craven’s hand gently at her words her smile widening. Her sudden actions were brave ones. She was stepping out of her comfort circle so to say and doing this. The only reason behind it being trying to see if her touch could unnerve Craven in anyway. A silly price to pay some might say, but not to her.
OOC: Hope mine makes sense too, lol.
Craven Blackwood - July 1, 2008 10:20 PM (GMT)
He watched her full lips pull into another smile and he almost, very almost, allowed himself to run his fingers across them. Of course there were some boundaries he didn’t cross on a first, er second, meeting. Despite how much they seemed to have learnt about each other, and the fact they’d spent quite a lot of time stood in an intimate position. He supposed he didn’t want to push her too far, he enjoyed the time spent with her so far and she had just agreed to visit his home on a random whim. He didn’t want to risk that by being pushy. He was almost sure she understood this was part of his attitude, though he was acting up a little more than usual. He couldn’t quite figure out why just yet and he was a bit afraid to look into at the moment.
With a surprisingly clarity her voice brought him back to his senses and he watched her carefully, her every movement trying to interpret her thoughts. Almost like he was trying to read her mind, it created a different intense look in his eyes to the mourning one of before. Though before he could reply he felt her thumb begin to caresses his cheek, this time his reaction was slightly more obvious as he seemingly pushed his face towards the touch. Closing his eyes and savouring the feel of her touch. However it was over before it started as she twisted her hand to interlock their fingers. Without even blinking he fixed his gaze back on her and gave her hand a gentle squeeze. Without really thinking about it his deep voice replied, a lob sided smirk on his lips and his voice tinted with underlying happiness.
“This weekend it is. I’ll owl you directions later…You know you could always stop at my house for the weekend. I’m sure you’d fit in my bed.” His tone was rougher, rawer than normal but it was clear he was joking about the insinuation; the mischief and the snicker gave it away. Though he decided to clarify his point with further words. He certainly did not want her thinking she was just another notch on a bed post somewhere. Contrary to popular belief Craven was not like that and he didn’t think Becca was either.
“Not that I think so lowly of you, you could just visit for the day or spend the night in the guest room…”
He almost apologised for being crude, but he seemed to realise that she had mentioned something else before. About meeting his family couldn’t be too bad. He quirked and eyebrow at the thought automatically. His family belonged in an insane asylum, at best. With humour laced in his voice he replied once more, still holding her hand tightly, whilst the other played with a strand of hair. His mind vaguely wondering how to up the game they were now playing without pushing it too far.
“Hum, the worst scenario would be you being unleashed to the wrath of my pureblood father, the insanity of my sister, the ditzy cunning of my mother or best of all my baby brothers baby sick…But I’ll make sure to keep you safe from most of that, or I’ll try my damn hardest anyway.” he laughed then showing, it probably wouldn’t be all that bad but she had, had fair warning at least.
As he finished speaking an idea popped into his head. He would up the game another step, he was glad she was finally playing back. Though the game seemed to have more depth than usual. With a swift movement his hand withdrew form her hair, moving down to her waist, grasping it lightly and pulling her closer; in a sort of weird hug. He didn’t remove his hand but left it rested there above her hip and on her waist. She was now so close he could feel her body heat.
Rebecca Emery - July 2, 2008 08:36 PM (GMT)
As Rebecca went ahead and spoke her lips pulling into a smile once more, for the millionth time that day as she spoke she couldn’t help but notice Craven’s mismatched gaze. Which were directly on her smile, well lips to be exact. Her smile faltered just slightly as she wondered where his thoughts were. Instantly one reason came to her mind and she felt herself begin to blush. This time she turned her thoughts away knowing Craven wouldn’t do that. She was sure of it. At least I hope, she thought to herself though her emotions were saying something different.
Shaking her thoughts away Rebecca went on to speak about his family not being that bad and caressing his cheek with her thumb before interlacing their fingers. Her actions were obviously brave ones and they had been made to see if he would react to her touching. Actually she’d been hoping to see him flustered. Though as she watched him, waiting, she noticed the intense look in his eyes as he looked to her. Briefly she wondered what caused it, but didn’t get to dwell on it long because she felt Craven lean into her touch and close his eyes. It was pretty much the same reaction she had when he’d brushed his hand across her jaw line. Though the reason he closed his eyes was a mystery to her as Rebecca suddenly smiled happily. Glad he’d reacted to her touch even though it hadn’t been quite the reaction she was looking for. After all he’d seemed to like her touch a knowing fact that made a flash of excitement yet confusion flow through her veins.
As she’d finished her actions Rebecca watched as Craven donned a lop sided smile he was beginning to adopt and squeeze her hand gently in return to hers. As he spoke she gazed into his mismatched eyes which were locked with hers. His words though made her smile noticing the underlying happiness conjoined with them. Though soon, very soon her smile faltered completely and she stood frozen gaping at Craven as she listened to his last words. Rebecca knew he was a flirtatious person but she hadn’t expected this and she felt her self blush a deep red the warmth rising in her cheeks. How was she supposed to take his words? That’s when she suddenly realized the mischief and snicker that came along with his words. Letting her eyes glance away from him she knew he was joking….but still.
Rebecca’s blue eyes soon turned back to Craven though as she heard him speak, almost apologizing for his words. Smiling a little she just nodded. After all she wasn’t that upset with him, just overly surprised at the comment. Now if he had meant it and she hadn’t heard the mischievousness conjoined with his words, well let’s just say she wouldn’t still be standing here especially in such an intimate position with him.
“Well I’m very glad, to say the least, for both of our benefits you don’t think so lowly of me,” Rebecca announced letting out a short small laugh as she shook her head hands still clasped with Craven. As she watched him raise an eyebrow at her earlier words of his family not being so bad her smile widened half thinking he would probably prove her wrong on the subject. Those thoughts were confirmed true as he spoke amused yet honestly. Listening to him Rebecca was fully aware of his other hand playing with her hair and in return she lightly let her thumb caress his hand though still keeping their hands intertwined.
As he finished speaking she felt herself laugh along with him, the sound echoing along with his around them. “I’m sure you will Craven. Though knowing parents and families you might be up against a challenge.” Saying this Rebecca smiled softly knowing her words rang true. Families were after all so unpredictable most of the time.
Smiling at her thoughts Rebecca watched Craven silently as they went into a sudden silence, though not an awkward one. He seemed to be thinking, his expressions telling her this, and she couldn’t help but wonder about what. At this exact turn of her thoughts was when Craven’s hand suddenly left her hair and grasped her waist pulling her closer. Her reaction to this was a gasp, surprised at his sudden actions. Though the feeling of surprise vanished as quickly as it came and was replaced with new emotions. One’s that left her feeling aware of his body heat and not to mention the hand he kept perched on her waist just above the hip. Instantly her heart started to pound and her blue eyes which were slightly widened flew to his mismatched ones. So this is how he’s going to play is it? Well I’m still going to play right along.
Thinking this Rebecca didn’t bother to dwell on the emotions she was feeling or the pounding of her heart but instead brought there intertwined hands closer to her. As she stopped them a couple inches from her face she flashed Craven a grin before leaning in and turning their hands so she lightly kissed the back of Craven’s hand before letting her lips linger an inch above, her breath probably warming the back of his hand as she let out a soft laugh. Once her laugh was finished Rebecca lifted her lips away a small smile forming as she looked back to Craven looking for a reaction, her blue eyes peering at him carefully.
Craven Blackwood - July 2, 2008 11:44 PM (GMT)
He was relived when she didn’t take his comment too badly, although it fit with his teasing style deep down he knew he didn’t want her thinking him to be like every other hormonal teenage boy. He was happy however with the dark crimson that stained her cheeks, he had to admit there something dazzling about Rebecca when she blushed, he was sure he was just happy he had that effect on her. After all guys had egos. This was probably why he was trying so hard to up the game, or so to speak. He listened to her laugh at his words with some sort of rapt attention, finding reactions interesting to watch. Maybe i just from Rebecca dazzling full stop Nope it’s defiantly just her reaction to me I like. He didn’t quite get to further these thoughts since she was speaking in reply.
He watched her smile, again staring at her lips as his mind thought over his next actions. That’s when his hand left her hair and grabbed her waist, pulling her closer. She gasped and he smirked, happy he’d upped the level of the game sufficiently. He tapped his fingers lightly on her waist, like one would tap their fingers on table. He wasn’t sure why he did it but it seemed appropriate, that he liked holding her, not that he’d admit it. He met her gaze easily, his eyes holding a challenge. He wasn’t sure this was a game anymore but he was pretty sure if it was he could win any way. He’d had years of practise at this behaviour he was after all a Slytherin and a guy.
He watched her carefully when she lifted there entwined hands, kissing the back of his knuckles. It was something he hadn’t expected her to do, and some decidedly more intimate than any of his flirtatious moves. He was a little shocked and the only thing to show it was the slight lessening of confidence in his eyes. His arrogant nature keeping the rest of his reactions intact. With a deep breath he managed to bring the confidence back to his eyes and laughed roughly with her when she laughed softly. His mind completely leaving the topic of his family in the past, now intent on getting his revenge; he didn’t often get flustered.
“You know, Pet, I think your becoming immune to me. I’m disappointed I rather liked your reactions. Never mind I’m sure our friendship will survive this immunity.” His voice was teasing and rough, a tone that she would probably begin to associate as the one he used around her the most. He didn’t seem bothered by her breathing on his hand, though he was incredible aware of it. In fact he didn’t seem aware of anything other than the person in front of him. Having no personal space boundaries meant he wasn’t bothered by the proximity but he could feel it.
His eyes seemed to search hers for something; he was trying to figure out how far he could push his luck and new found friendship without breaking some boundaries. Before he could think about his next move footsteps reached his ears and he was suddenly aware of another presence. A small blonde first year girl walked round the corner of the book shelves her eyes glued to the titles of the books; obviously looking for one in particular. She stopped suddenly when she noted Rebecca and Craven and her brown eyes widened comically her lips attempting to stutter so form of apology or hello.
Craven didn’t seem at all bothered by the appearance of the student and just to make sure Rebecca didn’t jump away he tightened his hold slightly, though not painfully, and squeezed her hand a little. He smirked at her, daring her to jump away and react to the visitor. Just as his eyes met hers he suddenly had another idea. Using his height as an advantage he pulled her closer and pressed his lips to her forehead; kissing her lightly before resting his forehead on hers, upping the game once more. His mouth was pulled into his most arrogant smile yet, sure he’d won. And his eyes were full of mirth though his voice was rough deep and emotionless when he spoke, since he wasn’t speaking to Rebecca.
“Can we help you?”
OOC: Feel free to control the girl, i imagine her to be a short, nervous first year...Sorry for the mega length too
Rebecca Emery - July 3, 2008 08:54 AM (GMT)
OOC: Okay first off I'm really sorry for the length....it just all came out and it fits, lol. If you really want me to I can try and shorten it, but yeah. Sorry! Also I hope it makes sense. If not just let me know. =]
As Rebecca felt Craven’s fingers lightly yet suddenly start tapping on her waist where his hand rested she felt herself smiling almost in a way knowing his actions were now not absentminded but fully aware. Why this made her smile happily though was beyond her thoughts. Well not technically, she would just rather not think about them because if they meant what Rebecca thought they did she knew she would start acting awkward, something she didn’t want. Not now and really not ever, but who was she to hide her feelings forever? No matter how hard people tried to remove, push back, or forget matters of the heart they usually came back to bite them in the a**. Something of course Rebecca didn’t want to happen to her, but still she thought it the better choice for now.
As her thoughts died away, for good hopefully, Rebecca watched as a determined glint flashed through Craven’s eyes, challenging her. Almost instantly she grinned at him her own emotion of challenge flashing through her blue eyes as she lifted their intertwined hands closer and kissed the back of his knuckles lightly before laughing softly and pulling away to see his reactions. As she noticed the confidence in his eyes lessen. Of course the action was briefly lived as he took a deep breathe and managed to call it forth again she still grinned wildly. She was extremely happy to see him befuddled for a moment and she almost wanted to jump up and down with joy, knowing her touches did affect him though she didn’t get the chance as he spoke up.
Hearing the word, or name, pet made Rebecca smile as she knew the word could be used as an endearment just like dear, love, darling, etc. Knowing this fueled her emotions of earlier though and she almost wanted to curse Craven. Didn’t he know? Probably not, she thought to herself absentmindedly knowing how arrogant he was. The rest of his words which were spoken teasingly yet rough made her laugh softly. He seemed so sure of it and she could only hope he was right. After all if anything she didn’t want to lose Craven’s friendship. It would be to hard to do so, especially if they spent more time together in the future which she knew was quite likely.
“Well I will certainly continue to hope your right Craven. And I’m sorry to disappoint you, but it was bound to happen sometime.” Letting her gaze locked with him as she said this she felt herself grin. It was true, at least Rebecca was sure of it. In time, sooner rather than later she’d hoped, she’d become immune as Craven put it. After all she didn’t want to be the only one embarrassed half the time they were together. It wasn’t an enjoyment for her after all. She told him this as he began to study her carefully; her eyes especially. “I wouldn’t want to be the only one embarrassed all the time after all.”
As her words died away and a silence over came them Rebecca could only wonder if he would up their little “game” and if so how though her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps. She froze automatically and waited. When she heard the footsteps stop and a presence fill the room she glanced to Craven before looking to see a blonde haired, brown eyed, short girl who seemed to be a young first year. A very nervous and embarrassed first year because of what she’d just interrupted. Almost instantly Rebecca blushed embarrassed herself to be found in this type of situation. Of course her first instincts were to move away and Craven obviously sensing this tightened his hold on her waist and squeezed her hand a little. As she glanced away from the girl to look at Craven her blue eyes searching his mismatched ones she noticed he wasn’t bothered by the younger girl’s presence in the least bit.
Scoffing at this realization Rebecca became slightly agitated at Craven it furthering as she noticed his smirk which dared her to move away. In return to this Rebecca’s blue eyes flashed with determination as she kept close only to be pulled even suddenly closer. As she registered this move, the girl completely forgotten at that moment, she felt lips on her forehead kissing her lightly before another forehead, Craven’s to be exact rested on hers. At the touch of his lips on her forehead she closed her blue eyes but when the action was over they opened and stared into his smiling face, a very arrogant smile if she might add. Seeing this and the mirth only made her want revenge more though it was suddenly forgotten at Craven’s emotionless words of ‘can we help you’.
Not even turning her head she listened to the girl stutter along in a nervous action. “Umm…I no…I was just looking for a book….then I stumbled…and gosh I’m so sorry! I would have never….if I had known…” As the girl went on Rebecca couldn’t help but roll her eyes, something new for her as she interrupted the girl though her voice soft when it spoke.
“It’s quite alright though if you wouldn’t mind it would be appreciated if you grabbed what you need and left.” As she finished her words Rebecca suddenly realized no matter how soft her words were how harsh they sounded. She frowned just briefly as the first year moved once again and she heard a book slide out of place. As the girl mumbled a small sorry once again and left Rebecca let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding and mentally remanded herself to apologize to the girl later if she found her.
Coming out of her thoughts Rebecca suddenly remembered Craven who’s forehead was rested against hers and who’s eyes were probably watching her. Letting her blue eyes glance back up into his from the ground she’d been staring at during the girl’s presence she was suddenly aware of the agitation and need of revenge of earlier which hit her with full speed. She was fairly sure Craven could see these emotions flash through her eyes and knew she was up to something. Though what she wasn’t quite sure.
After a few moments a new revelation hit her. There was really only one thing she could do to beat him, at least that she could think of and that involved….kissing him. Staring into his eyes she debated in her mind for a moment of what she should do, if she should risk it, when her actions decided for her. With her forehead still touching his she leaned forward so that they’re faces became inches and inches closer as her unoccupied hand went to rest on his cheek. She was pretty much an inch away before she stopped her eyes closing as she hesitated. She couldn’t do it.
Pulling away at that sudden but very clear thought she opened her blue eyes defeat flashing through them obviously announcing ‘you win’ as she pulled away the hand that rested on his cheek and smiled. A small smile as she watched Craven, not sure what to say or even do. Hoping she hadn’t pushed things too far.
