Title: Sing a song a six pence
Ellie Patterson - June 9, 2008 07:27 PM (GMT)
Ellie was sitting on a rug down under her favourite oak tree beside the lake. She was lying in the sun thinking to herself. She however began singing to herself without really noticing, soon enough she was singing full belt a muggle song. She loved singing, but she didn't do it very often as she didn't like singing in front of crowds she only sang to herself when she was on her own and being at hogwarts she didn't really get much time to herself.
April Teagan - June 10, 2008 02:08 AM (GMT)
April was walking along by the lake when she heard singing coming from somewhere. She didn't know the song, but she followed the noise until she came upon a girl sitting under a big oak tree and singing. It was a nice melody, and the girl's voce was pretty good. April drew closer.
She wished she knew the song, but she didn't. The girl didn't notice her yet, so April walked right up to her, and stared for a second. When the girl paused in the song, April spoke.
"You're a good singer, you know," she said easily.
Fox Canning - June 10, 2008 03:29 AM (GMT)
Coming from the opposite direction, Fox heard the young girls singing as well. As usual he was lost in his own mind, weighing pros and cons, establishng costs, figuring out where and when Damien would show up, and why the constant thought of Flame Harshing kept inturpting him and his planning.
He shook his head a looked up to find the cause of the interuption to his thoughts. His azure gaze fell upon a girl sitting below a tree just a few paces ahead of him. Coming from the opposite direction and fellow Slytherin that he recognized as April Teagan. He had seen her around a few times before and maybe exchanged a word or two, noticing too that she was a fairly good-looking girl.
The one with the voice, however, he was unsure of. He continued on his way over, deciding he was bored and not one to attest female company. The tall blond ran a hand casually though his spiked hair.
"You're a good singer, you know,"
"And you're quite the opposite of the typical Slytherin, offering compliments so courteously." He said with a teasing smirk as he leaned and arm against the tree that shaded the other girl below it.
Ellie Patterson - June 10, 2008 04:54 PM (GMT)
Ellie nearly jumped out of her skin at the sound of the girls voice. She stopped singing instantly and looked up to see a girl standing in front of her. "Ehh...thanks". Then she noticed the green trim on the robes, this girl was Slytherin?
Ellie wasn't exactly a fan of the house, it was known for being the house that all Dark Wizards came from and a stereotype slytherin didn't generally go around giving out compliments.
Another boy came over, he appeared to agree with Ellie, "And you're quite the opposite of the typical Slytherin, offering compliments so courteously."
Ellie wasn't sure if he was joking from the smirk on her face so she let out a general laugh at the boys remark.
"I didn't realise I had an audience, If I had I would have spared your ears!" she said.
April Teagan - June 10, 2008 07:11 PM (GMT)
April didn't recognize the other boy who came up beside her, but she did think his comment was quite appropriate. The girl who had been singing, however, seemed taken aback quite suddenly. April knew the boy from sight; he was in her house. However, she had never spoken with him. He seemed to be a good judge of character, however.
"I didn't realise I had an audience, If I had I would have spared your ears!" the girl squealed. April laughed.
"No problem, your singing is just fine." She rounded on the boy. "Maybe I am a bit nicer than expected, but hey, how else do you make friends in this place?"
Fox Canning - June 10, 2008 10:47 PM (GMT)
Fox shurgged at his fellow Slytherin. The other student seemed to agree with his comment with her laugh. Slytherin had gotten softer since the day of the Dark Lord, but it still had its typical characters. Fox hid his Sltherin stereotype pretty well and managed to carry himself neutrally. Never one to go out of his way to compliment someone but then again never to go out on a limb to curse their head off. That would just end up as a messy execution. Fox knew better.
He let his azure gaze drift between the girls offering each of them a small nod. "Fox Canning, and you two loely ladies would be?"
((Sorry so short...not a lot of time atm. :) ))
April Teagan - June 10, 2008 10:59 PM (GMT)
April laughed again, this time at Fox. Lovely lady, huh? April got a kick out of that. The other girl seemed to be waiting for her response, so April turned to the boy named Fox and addressed him.
"I'm April Teagan. Interesting name, Fox, isn't it?" she asked, with a hint of humor in her tone. She didn't mean to insult the boy, but by Merlin, there were some interesting names in this school.
Fox Canning - June 11, 2008 02:32 AM (GMT)
Fox playfully narrowed his eyes at April after she questioned his name. Of course it wasn't entirely his real name. But he perferred it. One would have to know him better to realize how fitting it really was. But then that would just be asking for trouble.
"I like to keep things interesting."
He sighed and leaned into the tree just a bit more. "If you find it so interesting...Its a nickname I've had since I was a boy and has stuck ever since. The only person who refuses to use it is my father."
April Teagan - June 11, 2008 07:29 PM (GMT)
April thought about it for a moment, and then smiled. The name Fox wasn't so bad... it reminded her of sly little beings. She knew that Slytherins tended to be very sly and cunning, so it sort of made sense. She smirked, despite herself, and laughing. She too leaned against the tree, now closer to Fox, easier to hear.
"It makes sense, then. I feel as though, as a Slytherin, the nickname perhaps may be quite suitable..." she said, contemplating. "Anyways, what's your real name? Is it something extremely embarassing?"
Ellie Patterson - June 13, 2008 04:29 PM (GMT)
"I'm Ellie Patterson" she smiled at the boy, "Yeah Fox is an interesting name," she agreed, "But I like it!" she smiled.
Ellie didn't know Fox or April but they seemed quite nice, so far for the usual slytherin stereotype but she would hold back her opinion for a bit.
"What year are you guys in?"
April Teagan - June 13, 2008 06:50 PM (GMT)
April looked down at the girl, who introduced herself as Ellie, and she smiled helpfully. She was glad that she was continually meeting new people, it always made her feel so mucb better about leaving home and coming to Hogwarts finally. Made her feel like she had some sort of reason to be here, other than to learn.
"I like your name, also," she said nicely.
"I'm in 5th year, but I guess almost 6th now, huh?" she said, laughing. "What about you? And you, fox?"
Fox Canning - June 14, 2008 04:32 AM (GMT)
"Well you have my sister to tank for my nickname. She's so clever..." His last statement was obviously meant to me sarcastic. His sister Gwen was anything but clever. She was your stereotypical blonde. Daft but beautiful. Good looks ran in the family. The worst anyone was, was average.
"I was born Nicholas Foxworth Canning." He smirked playfully at Ellie, "...but I only hear that when I'm in trouble." He made the samll joke knowing full well that when he was in trouble he didnt get a mear scolding by mommy and daddy. No, his kind of trouble was almost unbearable, and he made sure that it happened infrequently.
"Seventh year." He stated shortly. Finally, this year he was at the top of the school. On top. A place he liked to be in various situations...
April Teagan - June 14, 2008 03:36 PM (GMT)
OOC: Fox, nice sexual reference.
IC:
April smiled at both of them, and sat against the tree. She hated standing, especially when around new people. It just made the whole situation ten times more awkward, and she tried to avoid such situations.
"I like your name," she said to Fox. "Nick... Nicholas. Either way, you have a great variety of available names, I think I'm going to call you Nick," she said in a singsong vice, as if she was teasing him. He probably wouldn't take that too well.
Ellie Patterson - June 16, 2008 12:11 PM (GMT)
Ellie smiled, her parents did that too,
"Yeah I can usually tell how much trouble i'm in according to what they call me, If it's just Ellie then its okay, If Its Ellie Patterson I'm in trouble, but if they through in my middle name too, Jessica by the way, then I know I'm definitely for it!" she laughed.
She couldn't help but noticing that Fox wasn't exactly bad looking, however he was in slytherin and 7th year so he wouldn't exactly be interested, "I'm fifth year too," she smiled at April.
"So your leaving then now that it's nearly summer, what do you want to do when you leave school?" she added to Fox.
