Title: The last lesson

Roxane Stalhand - June 12, 2008 04:11 AM (GMT)
Roxane walked into the classroom. She had just became the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. It was the last days of the year but she thought would teach at least one class.

Roxane walked up to the board and wrote on it.

Welcome to Defense Against the Dark Arts My name is Professor Roxane Stalhand. You can call me Roxy.
write down 3 advanced curses, hexes or jinxes and what they do.

Roxane sat down at her desk and waited for the class

Emily Fall - June 12, 2008 06:37 AM (GMT)
Emily walked into the classroom. She was a bit annoyed the fact her cousin was the new teacher.

Emily said "Goodmorning Rox". Emily sat down and looked at the board and wrote down her answers.

Sailor's Curse
The sailor's curse is a very advanced incantation that requires much concentration and will power on the part of the caster. When preformed correctly, the victim will be drowned in a terrible accident the next time they sail at sea. The incantation is Mareo Moreum. There is no known counter curse, so victims are recommended to develop a fish animagus or avoid boat travel altogether.

Cassandra's Curse
Cassandra's Curse is another incredibly advanced curse. It has only successfully been preformed once, on Cassandra of Troy. This curse blesses the victim with the power to see the true future, but only the worst of it, and curses them by ensuring that no one will believe the victim's predictions. The incantation is proeidopoio, and the counter-curse is thought to be kynikos, which was found in Cassandra's diary, however, this is uncertain, because she was killed before it could be tested and the curse has never been preformed successfully again to test it.

The Travelling Curse
The travelling curse is a spell designed to cause the victim to neer be happy in one place. The victim will only be able to live in one place for a few days before they get an insatiable urge to travel to someplace they have never seen. The victim ends up wandering the world in search of new places to live. The incantation is proficiscor. The counter-curse, agmenio, must be preformed by 10 skilled wizards upon the victim while he/she is tied in one place for ten days. If the victim is held in one place without the counter-curse being preformed, they will go insane.

Emily put her quil down and waited for the rest of the class.

Fawne Sugarmoon - June 12, 2008 12:52 PM (GMT)
When she'd heard DaDA was back on should couldn't help but rush to the class, the lesson being one of her favorites. It always made her think of past friends. And so she was aiming to be as early as possible. In fact she as she walked almost silently though the door she realised she was the second student there.

With a small half smile on her lips she gracefully wandered over to a spare seat, sitting down at the desk and removing a sheet of parchment and a crimson red quill from her bag. Without further ado she set to reading the task on the board and completing what she'd been set, writing in red in with loopy yet neat hand writing.

Advanced Hexs, Jinxs and Curses.

The Bedazzling Hex -
This advanced hex can be used as a offensive spell or as a process to make an Invisibility Cloak. The Bedazzling Hex works by dazzling the onlooker so they can not see the enchanted item. A great deal of will power is required to make an Invisibility cloak, and involves coating the clock in a potion which retains the spell for a longer period of time but the effects would ware off eventually.

The Blasting Curse - Confringo
When used correctly the blasting curse can be classed as an advanced curse and can be highly harmful. It causes objects to to explode or in certain cases, and with varying wand movements, it can be used to destroy and entire room by bouncing the curse around it, destroying everything it touches with no regard for what it touches.

The Stinging Jinx -
The Stinging Jinx is an advanced form of the Stinging hex, the hex leaves small red welts where it hits but the jinx can cause a the entire limb to swell and become a unhealthy red colour. Eventually the Jinx wares off but it is advised to get the jinx reversed in case of lasting damage to the skin.

Valentina Greysoul - June 12, 2008 03:22 PM (GMT)
Valentina walked in confidently. She was on time, even if she wasn't first...
She grabbed an empty seat and layed carefully her stuff on the desk.
She was very good in the Dark Arts, but she was curious about the Defence Against part.

Tarantallegra - The dancing feet
The "dancing Feet" has it's origins in ancient Italy, but is best remembered for it’s improper usage by Warlock Zaccaria Innocentini, who is credited with conjuring a “dance” with Mr. Versuvius in 79 A.D.
To cast the Taranatallegra spell, tap your wand against you non-wand hand and pronounce the spell clearly.
for it to work:
~ you must have an unobstructured view of your subject in order to properly cast the Tarantallegra.
~ in order to make a subject dance, it must first possess legs ( a spell for growing legs appears in the advanced book CAST-A-SPELL training handbook1.

(OOC:brb)

Flame Harshing - June 12, 2008 07:50 PM (GMT)
Flame walked in, silent, and sat at the back of the classroom. She read the board and smirked. This was going to be easy. She was a pro at three very advanced, not to mention illegal, curses.

The cruciatus curse
Incantation: crucio
Effects: The cruciatus curse is an unforgivable, which according to some has the least desirable effects. The pain caused by the spell has been known to drive those put under it's influence to insanity, invariably people come out of the curse effected negatively, often skittish, as the pain it causes is unbearable. In the past the dark lord used it to get information out of those he captured, usually members of the order or ministry.

The imperius curse
Incantation: Imperio ((not sure if this is right... can't be bothered to dig out books))
Effects: The imperius is an unforgivable curse which deprives the subject of their free will. Dark witches and wizards use this to control victims. It leaves no effects and so it is never clear if someone says they were under it's effects if they are lying or speaking truths.

The killing curse
Incantation: Avada Kadavra
Effects: The killing curse is the last of the three unforgivable curses and, as it's name suggests, ends the life of the person subjected to it. Only one person was every known to survive it- Harry Potter. The killing curse leaves no mark.

Roxane Stalhand - June 14, 2008 12:22 AM (GMT)
Roxane stood up and decided to talk to the class.

"Good morning class, I am your new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Now can anyone tell me what the Cauda hex is? Its an easy one" Roxane said waiting for someone to answer,

Fox Canning - June 14, 2008 05:38 AM (GMT)
Fox casually walked into the Defense of the Dark Arts class. He was late as usual but didn't seemed to be phased by it by his lack of enthusiasm making his way through the room. He let his blue eyes rest upon the new teacher as he caught her last couple of words before letting his eyes trail around the room for what he was looking for.

He spied the long dark hair of Flame Harshing and the open seat next to her. As he settled his large, looming self into the small chair, his hand reached out and grabbed Flames chair, sliding her closer to him. The chair made a seconds loud noise as its legs dragged across the floor quickly.

Fox put his arm around the back of Flames chair and sprawled his legs out under his desk, quite relaxed. He flashed Flame a charming smile before taking a quick peek at her notes and smirking. Unforgivable Curses.

"... 'Adda girl." He whispered.

Roxane Stalhand - June 14, 2008 06:28 AM (GMT)
Roxane saw a student walk into the class and said "Mr Canning is there any particular reason why you are late?"

Roxane walked up to the students desk, leaned over it and said "Well are you going to answer me or not?"

Flame Harshing - June 14, 2008 11:22 AM (GMT)
Flame smirked playfully at Fox and rolled her tongue across her lips flirtatiously- a clear message, I want you. She was pulled towards him and she smirked playfully, glad to have his attention, she liked his attention, and they were good together.

"What else was I going to put down, Fox? Do you really think I'd settle for anything less?" she asked him, hand running his cheek, and winking.

She completely ignored the fact the professor was even there. "So what you been upto Fox? Playing the girl's again?" She tormented. "I feel left out."

Fox Canning - June 14, 2008 06:47 PM (GMT)
Fox looked upward his professor a brow raised at her. He didn't have a care in the world that he had just interrupted her clas by his tardiness but he found it quite amusing that she had interrupted him to say something about it. "Would there even be an excuse that you would find mildly accepting, Professor?"

He looked back at Flame. "I've been making my rounds." He grinned boyishly at his all too serious reply.

Roxane Stalhand - June 14, 2008 09:57 PM (GMT)
Roxane heard what Fox said and she didn't really care. "Oh well Fox I don't care if you are late or not. But try not to make a habit of it" Roxane said walking back up to the bored.

"Well does anyone know? It was easy" Roxane said. Roxane wrote on the board

Cauda hex: Tail-growing Hex, this hex will force the intended to sprout a tail.

"Now can anyone tell me three Advanced Dark Potions?"

Mona Woods - June 15, 2008 10:26 AM (GMT)
Mona arrived at the door, out of breath, when Professor Stalhand had asked the question. She had developed a habit of arriving late these days.
"Ninth Ocean Potion, Caseo Concoction and Calamitamos." She answered breathlessly. "And, am I in the right classroom? I'm supposed to be having Defence against the Dark Arts."

OOC: i don't recognise the potions from the book.. are they from this website?

Roxane Stalhand - June 16, 2008 07:31 AM (GMT)
Another student walked through the door. "Good morning Miss Woods, please give me a reason not to give you detention" Roxane said as the student sat down.

"And yes this is defense against the dark arts. Welcome, very good answers. Finally someone here has a brain" Roxane said. "But can anyone tell me what they do?"

OOC:no not from any website. I don't mind, any website will do.

Mona Woods - June 16, 2008 01:16 PM (GMT)
"Uh, I was reading this particularly interesting book." Mona reasoned and took a seat in a desk next to Valentina's.

"By the way, the Ninth Ocean Potion is highly dangerous, and therefore, a restricted substance. The potion causes the seas to immediately become incredibly rough and violent, posing a hazard to anyone on or near it.

The Caseo Concoction is used by dark wizards to affect the future. The potion takes a year to brew. After it is finished, the wizard drinks the potion, then writes out the curse they wish to affect. The curses caused by this potion are very hard to counter. This potion is restricted because of its harmful nature.

The Calamitamos potion, closely related to the Caseo Concoction, requires a crystal ball and a talent in divination. To use, the dark wizard drinks the potion and gazes into the crystal ball, concentrating on the part of the future they wish to affect. The ball will show them specific events leading to that future, allowing the drinker to mould the events as he/she wishes. This potion is highly dangerous and illegal. An overdose can have a lasting, incurable effect simmillar to that of Cassandra's Curse. "

Mona felt like her throat had dried up after reciting the three potions' uses.

Valentina Greysoul - June 16, 2008 02:09 PM (GMT)
"Wow, Mona!" Valentina exclaimed, surprised that Mona, too, was so good in DADA.

Valentina showed Mona the seat next to her, and waited for Mona to seat down.

She was pretty annoyed by the teachers comment.
Her, daughter of the vice-Minister of magic, having no brains?
She was pretty ticked off!

Solana Lilly - June 17, 2008 12:52 AM (GMT)
Solana sprinted down the hallway, running as fast as she could. Her alarm hadn't gone off and now she was late for a class. She was never late for classes, she was usually super early!

She arrived outside the door and stopped for a moment to collect her breath and fix an indifferent expression on her face before pulling open the door and stiding in, taking a seat beside the door and glancing around, trying to discover what she had missed.

[OOC: I don't have internet conection now so I can't post as often :( ]

Roxane Stalhand - June 17, 2008 04:56 AM (GMT)
"Ok you don't have detention" Roxane said sitting down.

Roxane didn't mean what she said about the other students having no brain, she had just had had a bad day.

"Ok the class is over. I hope you have a good holiday's"
