Title: Treading Water
Description: Open to All
Fawne Sugarmoon - June 15, 2008 12:05 AM (GMT)
She took another step, causing water to slosh up her legs, She giggled in delight enjoying herself immensely in the morning heat of the summer sunshine...
Fawne had always loved treading water in the shallower parts of the lake, the parts were you could see the bottom. She had missed taking part in the simple bits of life and so on a whim that morning she'd chucked on a pair of denim shorts and a red checkered blouse, pulled her curly long hair into a messy bun and chucked on a pair of bright red sandals before heading out onto the grounds.
By the time she'd reached the waters edge it was already warm out.
Without a pause she slipped her feet out of the shoes, leaving them on the banking and trotted into the edge of the water; mud sloshing up her legs and her pale skin seeming even whiter in the sun light. It hadn't taken her long to wade slightly deeper into the lake, footsteps careful but eyes trained away from the murky depths.
Just as she was deliberating wading further in the lake, though well away from the dark sections, a splosh caught her attention. As her grey eyes widened she realised with a start that her red beaded necklace had fallen into the lake. She looked rather forlorn at the loss, it had been a gift after all. And so she began to search around the shallows, peering down into the water looking for it. Forgetting the use of her wand entirely...
"Oh bother."

Calum walked down the smooth lawn and to the lake. He really enjoyed the lake, it was his favourite place to go when he was not at the Ravenclaw tower doing homework and studying.
He soon noticed a girl, standing in the shallow water, searching for something. Calum walked to her enquiringly.
"What's the matter?" he asked. "Lost something?"
Fawne Sugarmoon - July 16, 2008 10:58 PM (GMT)
OOC: sorry i hadn't even realised someone had replied O.o
IC:
She hadn’t heard his footsteps so when he spoke she was a little shocked, after all she’d been concentrating on finding her necklace. On reflex her hand reached up to grab at her blouse, above the area her heart would be and her feet took a step back, causing her to slip slightly on the bottom of the lake; though thankfully she didn’t fall.
“Oh you startled me” Her voice was softer than normal, shocked even. Although moments later she’d recovered; a small smile of greeting working its way onto her lips.
“My necklace; It rather seems to have fell into the lake.”
Calum Ferguson - July 17, 2008 03:28 AM (GMT)
OOC: No worries. I usually reply to those which doesn't have much people and that usually hasn't been replied by anyone for a long time. So, I'm used to it.
IC:
Calum got a little shocked when she nearly fell when he spoke.
"Sorry." he said. "Your necklace in the lake? Well, if it's in there, you're wasting your time, it's gone."
He grinned.
"I'm kidding." he said, reassuringly. "Do you remember getting something from Ollivanders? That might help."
He smiled.
Is this girl really a witch?.. he thought to himself sarcastically.
Fawne Sugarmoon - July 18, 2008 12:14 AM (GMT)
Her eyes widened when he commented it was gone, it was only his smile that caused hers to calm down. He was joking or at least he seemed to be. A half smile worked its way onto her lips as he spoke, seemingly not insulted by his words though she should have been really since they made her sound a little daft; especially since she was a good few years older than him. Though as her twinkling voice spoke her reasoning became clear.
“Oh? I have never set foot in Ollivanders.” she giggled, her words leaving a series of questions unanswered. Instead of commenting further she dug around in the pockets of her shorts, looking for the wand he had hinted for her to find. Within moments it was clutched faithfully in her hand, pointing at the water. Even when speaking spells her voice was strangely soft;
“Accio Necklace” a red necklace shot out of the water a few feet ahead of her, obviously having been moved by the current, it raced to her hands and she held the muddy item in place. “How silly of me, thank you ?” the question was posed as a chance for him to introduce himself, after all she didn’t know his name.
Calum Ferguson - July 18, 2008 02:56 AM (GMT)
"Never?" he said, in a slight english accent, pretending to be surprised. He smiled as she giggled and retrieved a red necklace from the lake with her wand.
"Calum. Calum Ferguson. Third year Ravenclaw." he said. "And you are?"
Fawne Sugarmoon - July 18, 2008 11:40 PM (GMT)
His accent drew her attention immediately, it was so typically English that she couldn’t help but love it. Just like her words were so typically old fashioned. She smiled at him as he spoke, her hands still clasped around the bright red plastic beads and her feet still in the water. She hadn’t left the lake yet.
“Fawne Lunette Sugarmoon, 6th year lion…I find the lake rather delightful, would you care to join me?” the water sloshed up her legs as I on response to her words and she smiled at him sweetly, trying to encourage him into the water.
Calum Ferguson - July 19, 2008 05:31 AM (GMT)
He looked at the lake unsurely, then shrugged. He pulled of his sneakers, socks and rolled up his trousers, walking slowly into the cool lake.
"I seem to meet a lot of sixth years.." he said. "You're so sure there isn't any giant squids in here?"
He grinned and looked around his feet.
Fawne Sugarmoon - July 19, 2008 09:41 PM (GMT)
"We sixth years are good at being everywhere..."her tone was mischievous, playful almost, Callum reminded her a lot of her brother when they were both younger. She found it cute.
She smiled brightly when he walked into the water, the expression bringing some life to her other wise wistful persona. She hadn't expected him to join her so easily, it was a nice change.
"I believe the quid dwells deeper in the lake, stay away form the black spots though." She kicked playfully towards a black spot of water, the spot rippled but didn't move, it was a just a deeper patch of water.
Calum Ferguson - July 20, 2008 06:09 AM (GMT)
"Yeah." he said, accidentally walking backwards into one. "Whoa."
He steadied himself.
"Stay away, indeed." he said, smiling.. "Wouldn't it be delightful to swim right now? But really cold."
Fawne Sugarmoon - July 24, 2008 10:58 PM (GMT)
She giggled when he nearly stumbled, at least he hadn't chosen a deep dark spot to walk on; they were much like holes in the lake bed.
She sloshed around the in the water slightly, like testing the temperature, she'd adjusted to it already since she'd been in there so long but she supposed she could see his point, even the sun wasn't making the water warm enough to swim.
"Perhaps i could cast a warming charm? It would be wonderful to swim.."
Calum Ferguson - July 26, 2008 01:01 AM (GMT)
"A warming charm would be perfect." he said as he placed his hands in the pockets of his jacket. He stepped further into the water.
"So, um.." he said, finding his brain rather mushed, causing him to give someone a quiet moment of peace instead of the usual rollercoaster ride.
Fawne Sugarmoon - July 28, 2008 10:12 PM (GMT)
She watched him curiously as he placed his hands in his jacket, surely he wasn't that cold. It was the morning but the sun was out, she was out in only shorts and a blouse after all. But then Fawne had never really been normal. With a quick flourish of her still held wan the temperature around the increased slightly, she'd used the spell silently.
"I have not made the spell to warm? Perhaps we can swim now"
She took a few step backwards into the deeper parts of the lake, her eyes not leaving Calum. the movement showed she had complete faith in her balance since she couldn't see her footing.
Calum Ferguson - July 29, 2008 12:27 PM (GMT)
Calum took of his jacket and threw it on land, but preferred to keep his shirt on. Perhaps that will answer her question. He smiled and moved further into the water, finally diving into it. He felt the warm water against his face. It, indeed was very refreshing. His eyes searched the water, examining it.
OOC: sorry, it's just cold where I am
