Hadley sat with a random Transfiguration book in her lap,rubbing her eyes.
The library was fairly empty because of the beautiful weather. Hadley gazed out the window,longing to be on the grounds.She sighed sadly,but continued to study-or at least she tried.

There was an informal Transfiguration test tomorrow,and Hadley didn't want to fail.Transfiguration was one of her weaker subjects.Hadley knew if she failed again,she'd be sent back to third year.

She was incredibly tired,mostly because she'd pulled an all-niter yesterday,finishing up all her homework.Now, she wondered how she'd managed to stay awake the whole day.

Hadley pulled the book to her face and shrieked,

"I HATE STUDYING!'

AJ was in the library, reading his copy of Transfiguration Today, just for some pointers. He was the best student in transfiguration at Hogwarts by far. He prided himself on that note. He was told by the Transfiguration professor that he was the best in years.

He noticed a little red header girl studying. He swore it was a Transfiguration book, but couldn't tell. He was trying to lean over to see, but didn't want to be obvious.

Finally AJ gave up when she yelled she hated studying and decided to offer help.

"That wouldn't be Transfiguration, would it?" he was hoping it was.

"That wouldn't be Transfiguration, would it?"

Hadley turned around,surprised at the voice.
"It's Transfiguration,all right." She said,"One of my worst subjects."
Hadley blushed at the confession.She hated talking about classes,especially this one. She slowly closed the book and rested it on the table.

He couldn't understand how Transfiguration could be hard. He always was naturally talented at it. He picked it up immediatly and learned to do OWL level in his third year.

"What are you studying?" he asked her, taking a look at her book.

"What are you studying?"

"Er,turning large animals to objects and back again." Hadley winced.Her memories of yesterday's Transfiguration lesson were not too pleasant.
"In all honesty,I've never really picked up on Transfiguration." She groaned. In a lower voice,she mumbled,"I've never found it useful,at least to me."

AJ was shocked. He loved transfiguration. It was his most favourite subject. "Ah, that's an easy topic. What year are you in? I remember learning that a while back." he told her, not trying to make it seem like he was better than her.

" What year are you in?"


"Fourth." Hadley blushed, "But I learn Transfiguration an the pace of a second or third year."
She shifted uncomfortably in her seat.Hadley appreciated the would-be tutoring,but felt as though she was in the hot seat.
"Hopefully my 'cup' doesn't go crazy again." Hadley put air quotes around the word cup.She grinned sheepishly.

"well I can help you if you want?" he asked not wanting to see anyone struggle with Transfiguration.

"But I'm pretty busy, so I dunno how often I would be able to help." he told her, flipping trhough her book.

"Well,I'd really love help.But maybe only a few times?" she asked,hoping he would agree.
The only thing worse than failing,in Hadley's mind,was failing in front of an amazing Transfiguration talent,as he obviously was.

"Well whenever you want to meet let me know. I'll try and clear my schedule. Not that I'm amazingly busy. But I study a lot. And tutor others as well."

He was reading through her book. He still had his copy with all of his notes. tutoring her would be very easy...as long as she tried.

"Thanks so much.I really appreciate it." Hadley said honestly.
She stood up to leave,but then stopped.
"Before I go...I didn't catch your name."

"Oh, I'm Andrej, but my friends call me AJ. You can call me whichever." he said with a smile. "I'm in Ravenclaw, just knock on the common room door and ask someone to get me. I'm in there a lot."

He stood up and preceded to leave.

"Okay." Hadley smiled.
"Oh and by the way,I'm Hadley!" She called to AJ's back.
Before he could respond,she slid out of the library.

AJ had realized she left her book and went running after her, "You forgot your book Hadley." He handed her the book and smiled at her.

"Oh,thanks." Hadley smiled.

AJ smiled and walked away. He made his way up to the Ravenclaw Common room and fell asleep by the fire. He was dead tired.
