Title: Late at Night
Description: Open.

Trinity McKnight - June 19, 2008 05:46 AM (GMT)
Trinity hummed almost inaudibly as she entered the owlery. There was not a soul in sight besides herself and the winged animals that called the tower home. She smiled grateful for a moment of peace away from the mass of other students. Today had been positively dreadful. She had overslept causing her to be late to Ancient Runes. In Herbology she had overwatered her plant to the point of death. Then right when things were looking up she had spilled a suspicious purple liquid all down her new robes in Potions class. Yes, some time alone would be nice.

She slowly walked forward until she was leaning against the ledge, taking the twinkle of the night sky. A quick glance down at her watch told her the time, ten past three. It was far past the hours that students were allowed to roam the castle. Still it hadn’t stopped her from throwing a faded yellow Hufflepuff sweatshirt over her pajamas to make the journey into the darkness.

Trinity took quiet comfort in the fact she was alone. Almost as if to mock her, the sound of someone climbing the owlery steps echoed through the tower. She sighed softly and turned to face the newcomer.

Emily Fall - June 19, 2008 09:48 AM (GMT)
Emily was could get to sleep, the thing was she didn't want to.Emily decided to go up to the owlery and send her friend a letter.

Emily walked up the steps up to the owlery, as quiet as she could. When Emily got to the top she noticed there was another Hufflepuff girl sitting up there. She was Emily's year. Emily knew this because she had seen her some of her 5th years only classes.

Emily smiled hoping not to look like she didn't really want to be around anyone that much. "Hi, I'm Emily" Emily said to the girl. "Nice to meet you."

Trinity’s eyes slowly adjusted until they could fully focus on the person standing in front of her. She recognized the girl and a smile crossed her face. In her mind she was silently thanking her lucky stars that it wasn’t somebody looking to assert their authority.

Trinity nodded when the girl introduced herself as Emily and took it upon herself to do the same. “I’m Trinity. And it’s a pleasure to meet you too.” She smiled as she hopped onto the ledge making it her personal makeshift chair. Her eyes were momentarily drawn back towards the stars. It was like they were winking at her. Beautiful.

Not wanting to seem rude she turned back towards Emily. “What brings you up here at this hour? I thought I was the only one craving detention by being out this late.”

Emily sat down next to Trinity. "Just up her to send a letter to my friend Anel to see how she is. Her Dad just died so I think I should send her one." Emily told Trinity."I do really miss her, she's my best friend."

"So why are you out here? You really want detention?"

Trinity smiled when the girl sat down next to her. Yet her smile quickly morphed into a frown when the girl explained her reasoning for being out so late. “That’s awful. I’m so sorry. How did it happen?” Trinity pursed together her lips not sure if that fell under the category of an appropriate question.

In reality she couldn’t relate to what the grief of losing a loved father would be like. Perhaps that was because she hadn’t thought about it or perhaps it was because her father faced death everyday. Frankly he almost deserved it for the things he had done.

"So why are you out here? You really want detention?"

Trinity felt a grin extending on her face once more, the thoughts of death quickly leaving her mind. “I guess I don’t have a real reason. I was looking for a peaceful place and this is where my feet led me.” She rolled her eyes at how corny that must have sounded. “And if I have to risk detention then bring it on.”
