Title: Peaceful Night
Description: Sora

Carly Butank - June 22, 2008 12:51 AM (GMT)
Carly was sitting by the lake. It was starting to get dark out and she had just ate dinner. She left early to come outside. It was so peaceful out here. She also had a lot to think about. Her future had just recently been revealed by Emily. She was happy with it, but wasn't sure about the rest.

As she sat there, she kind of wished she wasn't out there alone. She did want to think, but also wanted someone to come along and distract her. She wanted someone that could take her mind off of it. She looked out onto the lake and sighed.

Sora Hawthorne - June 22, 2008 01:04 AM (GMT)
Sora had skipped dinner. Again. It was starting to become a habit. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy food, it was the loud and noisy Great Hall that he couldn't stand. It gave him headaches as did the bright lights of the room.

He closed his eyes and basked in the darkness of the grounds. And the quiet. He was situated in a tree branch in the grounds, one of his favorite perches. The only annoying part was the sap that would cling to his hair and clothes. He didn't think about that now. He didn't want to be seen moaning over the ruining of another new set of robes.

He drummed his wand against his thigh as the silence pressed in upon him. Apart from the occasional chirping of a songbird, everything was quiet. He was nearly dislodged from his tree as the crunching of footsteps reached his ears. He glanced down through the leaves and was able to distinguish long auburn hair from all of the green. A girl. He mused as she sighed loudly. It seemed to echo in the previous silent grounds.

He pursed his lips before jumping down from his perch, landing gracefully on the grass below. "Mind if I ask why you are out here so late at night, miss?" He asked, turining towards the girl.

Carly Butank - June 22, 2008 01:13 AM (GMT)
Carly had jumped when she heard the boys voice. She didn't think anyone else was out there. She quickly jumped to her feet and spun around, ready to take out her wand. She was always so defensive. She noticed it was a boy with green robes. She relaxed a little.

She was now sort of embarrassed. She cleared her throat and brushed herself off a little. "It's, um..USUALLY quiet out here." She was being a bit rude. That was her typical Slytherin attitude. She never really meant anything by it. "I had some thinking to do." She looked at him, noticing she's never seen him before but he was quite attractive.

She turned back around to face the lake and sat back down. "What's it to you?"

Sora Hawthorne - June 22, 2008 01:20 AM (GMT)
Sora snickered softly as the girl's wand had spun out ti take aim at his face. He nodded thoughtfully. "Yes, it tends to be quiet out here late at night." There was a slight trace of sarcasum in his soft voice. He paused, looking out on the glassy lake before continuing. "It is nothing to me. Didn't think it was a crime to be curious." He said cooly as she took a seat on the grass. He leaned his back against the tree calmly, wincing slightly as the bark pushed against his spine.

Silence fell again. But it wasn't like the previous one. It was slightly more awkward and even more pressing. It hadn't helped that he had chosen that moment the notice she was pretty in an odd sort of way. He hadn't taken offense to her tone but thought it was slightly amusing.

Carly Butank - June 22, 2008 01:28 AM (GMT)
The silence was awkward. Carly wasn't sure of what to do. She looked around. She figured there was no need to be rude. She took a deep breath and looked behind her at the boy. He was now leaning against the tree. "And what are you doing out here?" She looked forward again. "I'm Carly, by the way."

Her tone had changed. She was looking for company and didn't want to scare him away. Besides, he was Slytherin. He couldn't be all that bad.

Sora Hawthorne - June 22, 2008 01:43 AM (GMT)
He bowed slightly in her general direction. "Pleasure. I'm Sora Hawthorne." He said to her before bending down to play with a blade of grass. Sora disliked awkward silence. Almost as much as he disliked dirt. Almost. He turned towards he as he spoke, "What year are you? I'm a sixth year." It wasn't as obvious as it sounded. Due to his small stature, he had been mistaken for a fourth year before. He had not forgiven the teacher who had done it either.

He shredded the piece of grass shortly and bent down to tear off another, hoping she would speak quickly. The lake sparkled in the moonlight as the silence stretched on for what could have been hours. Sora's mind wasn't always accurate with time when he was nervous. And why should he be? She seemed alright. Slytherin, smart as she had been defensive when he had sprung and she was pretty.

Carly Butank - June 22, 2008 01:50 AM (GMT)
Carly thought it was smart to turn and face him. So she did. She noticed he was playing with the grass. He seemed kind of childish. Not in a bad way, though. He just really didn't seem like a 6th year. Regardless, he was good looking. She had kind of gotten lost in her thoughts and noticed she took a bit longer than normally to answer his question.

"Also a 6th year," He looked nervous. It was kind of cute. She was also amused by this. She just sat there and stared at him for a moment. "You know, it's probably a little more comfortable over here." She gestured for him to sit next to her, turning to face the lake again.

Sora Hawthorne - June 22, 2008 02:05 PM (GMT)
Sora grinned slightly before taking a seat on the cold, damp grass beside her. He would have to clean his robes again with that charm, but it wasn't too much trouble. "Grass isn't always as comfortable as you would think. Er, at least I don't think it is." He said, picking up a small pinch of soil and letting it fall to the ground in indication of his last statement. He examined his two nail, looking for any paritcles of dirt lodged underneath the perfectly manicured fingernail.

Finding none, he as turned to look out on the lake. It was stagnant and was quite nice in the twilight. He usually wouldn't have stopped to notice it, but this evening he seemed to be different from his usual self. He was actually sitting on the ground, for a start.

"You get the Potions homework done? I thought it was pretty tough. N.E.W.T's are going to be interesting." He said, chuckling without amusement.

Carly Butank - June 22, 2008 03:36 PM (GMT)
As Sora sat down next to her, she took notice to how tidy he looked. Not many boys at Hogwarts were so clean. His hair was almost perfectly in place and there was no sign of dirt anywhere. Not even under his nails. She watched him play around with the soil a little bit.

Then there was some silence. They had both turned to look at the lake. So peaceful. This is exactly why she loved to sit out here. Even on the 'uncomfortable' grass Sora so claims it to be. The silence this time wasn't as awkward, thankfully. Carly then heard him speak up.

"Yeah, it's finished. Potions is my best class." She smiled, she loved Potions. The professor was a bit tough, but had no problems with her because she did so well. "I find a lot of it easy. The homework wasn't too bad." She paused. "As for N.E.W.T's, i'm hoping they're as easy as the class itself."

Sora Hawthorne - June 23, 2008 02:19 PM (GMT)
"That would be a miracle. I wish the professor took a liking to me." Sora grumbled, envious. It wasn't that the class was challenging, it was that Sora didn't have a very long attention span. And the professor didn't like him. At all. The boy usually managed to scrap together a good potion, slightly off the mark of perfect (which bothered him often) but that wasn't good enough.

"N.E.W.T's." His stomach squirmed at the word. He had done spectacular on his tests in fifth year but was slightly more worried about this time around. "I chose some...interesting classes, so it might be an...interesting time." He finished lamely. He was very aware that his Transfiguration homework sat in his bag, waiting for him. Sora wouldn't have been suprised if dramatic music began playing at the moment. He chuckled at himself .

Carly Butank - June 23, 2008 04:33 PM (GMT)
"N.E.W.T's really aren't all that bad." She shrugged. Carly has always been pretty naturally smart. She loved that. She didn't have to put so much time into study. That way, she had more time to fly. She smiled. "What classes are you taking?"

Carly knew she shouldn't be making too much conversation. After all, she did have some homework to finish. She wasn't too worried about it. She was actually enjoying his company and didn't want to end it so suddenly. She played with the ring on her finger as she waited for his answer.

Sora Hawthorne - June 24, 2008 07:11 PM (GMT)
"The only ones I'm worried about are Medicinal Magic and Transfiguration." He said, pointing towards a book that was visible over the top of his bag. It read in gold letter Healing: A Practice Guide to Wizarding Medicine . The book was thick and foreboading, as if it were the tall, intimidating teacher himself was staring at Sora from the depths of his bag.

Sora hoisted the book from his bag and flipped open to the week's assignment. A piece of parchment lay stuffed into the pages. But it was blank.

The boy groaned and rolled his eyes. "More homework I forgot." He muttered, staring down at the numerous questions that were yet to be answered.

Carly Butank - June 24, 2008 08:41 PM (GMT)
Carly smiled. She was glad he had brought this subject up. She loved everything about healing. She wanted to be a Healer once she got out of Hogwarts. "Well, it's your lucky day then i guess." She smiled, grabbing the book from him and looking at it.

"I've read this before. I'm hoping to become a healer." She glanced over the homework. She read a lot of books about healing and had just recently practiced some of it with Jeraud. She looked back up at Sora. His eyes looked hopeful. She really took notice then to how good looking he was. She didn't want to do homework. She'd rather just sit and talk or something.

If he wanted to get it done though, she would help him. "You want to get this finished then?"
