Title: Learning
Description: Jeraud

Carly Butank - June 23, 2008 08:51 PM (GMT)
Carly was sitting in the library. It was a little late and she had nothing better to do than read up on healing. She wanted to be one after Hogwarts. She would've been outside flying, but it was raining. She was getting a little bored just sitting there reading about it. She wanted to actually try it.

She knew the perfect place to go. The Hospital Wing. She wasn't sure why she never thought of this before. She wanted to get a jump start on learning. She put back her books and made her way to the Hospital Wing. When she got there, there was no one but a single student sleeping and a man in the corner. It was dimly lit, being that a few candles were the only light scattered around the room.

"Um, hello."

Jeraud Cynster - June 23, 2008 09:08 PM (GMT)
Sighing quietly Jer checked on the student before him, Lucas to be exact. This was the second time this week he'd seen the fifth year boy and he couldn't help but shake his head. The first time he'd seen the boy was because of a fight he'd gotten into with another kid in his year and today he'd come in unconscious. Beaten by a rouge bludger the other boys had announced all at once. Of course Lucas was fine now, just sleeping. Jer was just now checking up on the boy, making sure he hadn't gone into a coma or anything.

His task though was soon interrupted though by a voice in the distance saying hello. Turning in his tracks Jer's hazel eyes searched the dim lighted room only to have them land on a girl near the doors to the Hospital Wing. Studying her from afar he couldn't help but wonder what she was doing up so late and here for that matter. Nevertheless he made his way forward a small smile on his face as he spoke in soft tones.

"May I help you miss?"

Carly Butank - June 23, 2008 10:43 PM (GMT)
The mans voice was extremely calming. She looked around for a moment than back at him. "I'm sorry to come in like this, but i was just wondering if you could help me." She probably sounded dumb. Atleast, that's how she felt. She wasn't use to asking for help, even to an adult. She saw the man nod for her to continue.

"Well, i want to be a Healer once i get out of here. I've always read a lot about it, but never really tried it. I figured i'd finally give it a shot. And i figured this would be the perfect place to come."

Carly looked at the man, hopeful. She wasn't sure who he was. She was hardly ever in the hospital wing. When she got hurt, she usually just ignored it or something.

As Jer came closer to the girl he only stopped his walking when he was about a foot in front of her. Taking in her appearance in the dim light he could instantly tell she was a student and an older one at that. Maybe fifth or sixth year, he mused in his mind as he waited for her to answer. When she finally did Jer’s hazel eyes softened as he wondered what he could help her with. She didn’t seem to be hurt to him after all. Though as he thought this Jer scolded himself knowing there was pain and sickness one couldn’t see. At these thoughts he went ahead and nodded for her to continue as he pushed up the sleeves of his white blouse which he wore.

Once the young girl began to speak Jer suddenly smiled. So the girl wanted to be a healer. Part of Jer could only help but wonder if Fawne had gone about announcing that he was going to help her, but the other half of him knew that wouldn’t be her style, so to say. Even so no matter if Fawne did or not he continued to listen to the girl intently. It seemed like she’d thought and pondered on the idea of being a healer a while and as she said was just now going to give it a shot. Glancing to the girl he let his hazel eyes stray to her face as he thought.

“Well you are right, you did come to the right place.” Jer nodded at his words slowly taking in the hope on her face. He couldn’t help but smile at this. Who was he to turn her down? Though he had to ask. “So I have to ask, what finally made you want to learn?” Asking this Jer glanced at the girl then back to Lucas to make sure the boy was still sleeping. Noticing the boy was he turned back to the girl as he put his hands in the pockets of his black slacks while he waited patiently for her answer.

Carly was glad he sounded okay with it. As much of an idiot as she had already felt, it would've turned even worse if he shot her down. She quietly sighed in relief. She barely ever got nervous around people. She was very open and social and rarely had problems with communicating. She wasn't sure why that was so difficult.

Hearing his question, she looked around then let her eyes land back onto his. "Well, i've really never thought about it before. I've just read so much about it and i guess actually trying it never came to mind." She smiled. This man seemed genuinely nice. She was glad. She was in here once before with a friend, and she did not like the way she was treated. This man wasn't here that day.

"I'm Carly, by the way." She put her hand out in front of her, smiling.

As a grateful look came over the girl’s expression Jer smiled to himself. She’d probably thought he was going to dismiss her with a no. If she were to know him she would have known that wouldn’t be the case the moment she stepped into the Hospital Wing. Nevertheless Jer knew she didn’t know him. Shaking his head hoping to push his thoughts to the back of his mind he watched as she looked back up and locked gazes with him then answered.

Nodding at her words Jer knew it was like that for some people. Looking at a career, studying it yet not fully knowing that’s what you want to do until weeks, months or even years later. Thankfully he’d never had that problem. Smiling at the girl he watched as she extended her hand in greeting then introduced herself. Taking hold of her hand in his large one he shook gently as he spoke.

“It’s nice to meet you Carly. I’m Jeraud, or Jer, Cynster. One of the Medi-Wizards here though I’m sure you’ve already guessed that.” Trailing off for a moment he flashed the young girl his trademark lop sided grin as he let go of her hand and resumed his posture moments ago; hands in pockets. “And I’m here to tell you I’ll be happy to teach you a few things. Though I have to tell you there might be another girl in here, Fawne Sugarmoon is her name. I’m teaching her also so don’t be alarmed if you ever see her in here with me or helping out.”

Carly hadn't realized how small her hands were until she shook his. Either that or his hands were rather large. Nevertheless, he shook her hand softly. She could already tell she ran into the right person. After he introduced himself, he flashed a grin. Carly couldn't help but stare at this. He was attractive. She knew she shouldn't have those thoughts. She cursed herself mentally for always taking a liking to older men.

Her thoughts were interrupted when he spoke again. Carly nodded and smiled. "It's fine. I'm sure i could use extra help in learning anyway." She laughed a little, looking down. She was normally pretty open and never shy, but she couldn't help but feel a little awkward with him. It wasn't really his fault. Actually, she wasn't sure what it was. It was different. She looked back up at him. He had nice eyes. "Is it too late now? Because i can come back another time.." Her voice trailed off. She wanted to start then, but it was late and wasn't sure if he wanted to stay up.

As Jer went ahead and spoke flashing her his lop sided grin it wasn’t easy to dismiss the looks and staring Carly expressed. He smiled just slightly to himself. He’d always attracted females, many at that, but this was different. Carly was young, probably seven years younger, and Jer didn’t want to get himself caught up in a situation like that. Even so deep down Jer knew he couldn’t stop his charming ways, they came so naturally half the time he didn’t realize he was doing it, and also he knew he couldn’t stop Carly from taking a fancy. After all he’d learned the hard way the heart did things it’s way.

Coming out of his thoughts and glancing back to Carly he listened as finally she spoke up laughing slightly at the end of her words. He smiled at her and nodded. Jer knew he would have needed the extra help back when he was also young. Even now he had to admit he need help sometimes. After all there was probably many things he still didn’t know and hadn’t learned yet.

Shaking his thoughts away Jer turned his attention back to Carly as she asked hesitantly if they could start now. Smiling at her he shrugged. He didn’t think it would be a problem and he told her this so. “Nah I think you’ll be alright. We’ll just have to be a little quiet cause of Lucas sleeping over there. Wait on second thought maybe we should be loud and obnoxious. Heaven knows he is.” Chuckling at his words Jer’s hazel eyes sparkled with amusement as he began to walk waving Carly to follow him.

Carly Butank - July 2, 2008 11:59 PM (GMT)
Carly laughed at his joke. She liked his humor. It reminded her of her own sense of humor. She always had a tendancy to make things very sarcastic. She never even tried really, it was just a natural thing to her. She has yet to figure out if it's good or bad. She looked at his hazel eyes as he began to walk. They were the kind of eyes that would throw you off track of anything. They made you think. They were just mysterious. She noticed him waving for her to follow, so she did. She glanced at Lucas, wishing he wasn't there. She hated being quiet. It was actually pretty hard for her.

Carly continued to follow him and as she did, she realized it had gotten a bit hotter. A simple solution to this, she tied her hair back. It wasn't much, but it did help. She didn't care how it looked either, she had no one to impress here. Unless, of course, you count Jeraud. She didn't want to get into that type of situation. Although she knew it would be hard. She was a natural flirt and just hoped she could hold herself back. Thinking of this, she laughed aloud a bit. Doing this brought her back to reality. She realized they had stopped walking and she probably looked insane. She laughed nervously. "Oh, sorry about that." She didn't want him thinking she was laughing at him. "I was laughing at.." She noticed him looking at her strangely. "Oh nevermind." She looked away. Great, That was all she could think.

Jeraud Cynster - July 3, 2008 09:20 PM (GMT)
As Jer began to walk away and motion for Carly to follow there was no mistaking her gaze which continued to look to his eyes. If he was a foolish inexperienced young boy he would have the decency to blush or become flustered but since he wasn’t Jer only smiled. Though as his head was turned if Carly saw it was beyond him. Though now that he thought about it Jer hoped she didn’t. After all some of the most innocent little gestures could cause a problem, a big one at that and Jer wasn’t particularly looking for one.

Shaking his thoughts away Jer continued to walk to his office were the books he’d just bought were held. At first he’s just gotten them for himself for a light read and to catch up on new healing techniques though now that he thought about Fawne and now Carly, who he was both teaching, he knew his books could come in handy. Thinking this Jer nodded to himself, happy with his conclusion as they finally reached his office. As he began to open the door he suddenly stopped at the sound of laughter, Carly’s laughter. Turing to the girl he rose a quizzical eyebrow her way, wondering what had been so funny.

As he listened to her laugh nervously and go on and apologize then try to explain what she was talking about he couldn’t help but laugh a little. He concluded she was laughing about something she thought of and to Jer it seemed she didn’t want to share. Knowing this he spoke to her gently as he watched her turn away embarrassed.

“Carly….” Jer announced first trying to get her attention. When he had it his hazel eyes looked to her. “It’s alright. No need to be embarrassed. I’m guessing you were laughing about something you thought of? If so don’t worry we’ve all done it.”

Carly Butank - July 4, 2008 01:48 AM (GMT)
When Carly looked away, she had no intention of looking back. She was afraid she just looked hopeless now. She heard him call her name, which caught her attention. She looked up at him without even thinking, then realized she was stareing into his eyes again. She cursed in her head. She really wished she hadn't looked now. She then heard what he said, and calmed down a bit. This was right, most people did laugh at their thoughts. That's when she remembered what she was thinking about. That was probably more embarrasing, although she knew he had no idea.

She laughed again. "Yeah, it's more of the thought that was embarrasing." For a second she considered telling him, but that would make everything worse. She brushed that thought aside and looked away from him. Looking in his eyes like that sure wasn't helping to control those thoughts. She turned her focus to the door that Jer had just opened and quickly changed the subject. Peaking in the door, she saw it was his office. "That's a nice office you have there." She was hoping that statement would make him forget about the previous subject.

Jeraud Cynster - July 6, 2008 07:55 PM (GMT)
As Jer watched Carly look back up to him at the sound of her name he could only smile, thought it was a small one. He knew she was probably reluctant to look at him probably because she just stared, something which she was doing now. Though at least it was at his eyes. It obviously could be called keeping eye contact which was fine by him. Shaking his thoughts away Jer went ahead and told her it was okay for laughing at your own thoughts and in doing this he listened to her laugh and reply. He smiled softly as she said the thought was more embarrassing. He knew those type of thoughts.

“I think we all go through that time where we have those embarrassing thoughts. I know I have, many times. It’s just the ay you react to them that makes you more embarrassed probably. Though what do I know?” Laughing a little at his words Jer watched as Carly suddenly looked to the door he was holding which was slightly ajar. He watched the young girl as she looked in and couldn’t help but take a once over. Taking in her appearance. She was young, that something he knew for sure but she didn’t look like it. Even so he pulled himself out of his thoughts at laughed at her words, knowing she was trying hard to change the subject.

“Well thank you, but it’s not just my office. Every one who works her use it. That’s why if you look…” Pausing for a moment he opened the door wider and leaned against the door so she could go in first and get a good look. “There’s a more feminine touch to the room. Not that I mind. I’m really one of the only guys working here and I really don’t want to make the females mad by changing it in anyway.” Grinning his lop sided grin he glanced into the room himself.
