Appearance
Tristan has almost perfectly straight bronze hair that reaches slightly past his ears. His face is an oval-like shape with a child-like look to it. He has a mostly clear complexion and skin that is a little pale. He has an abnormally large forehead that is somewhat misshapen. He also has a neck that is quite long. However Tristan was blessed with dark blue almond shaped eyes and a completely average looking nose. His hands and feet are quite same for his age and gender. He has a thin frame to go along with the height of five feet six inches. He is satsified with the way he looks and normally doesn't do much to improve or change it.
Personality
The important thing to remember about Tristan is that he is hopelessly optimistic almost to the point of stupidity. He is so nonchalant about well everything that it often stops him from accomplishing things that need to be done. He almost always has a smile on his face even though the situation or emotion doesn't call for it. Only the people who know him well can tell the difference between each grin he posesses. The only way someone else could tell he isn't really smiling is that his expression tends to look fixed and or forced. He smiles so much because he doesn't want others to see or be affected by what he's really feeling. The few times he doesn't seem happy he looks as though he is concentrating or simply not paying attention.
Tristan enjoys being around others and tends to be, but he doesn't mind being alone especially while he is reading. In fact, while he is reading he doesn't behave like himself, he will snap at people and answer rudely if he is interrupted. Often times he is very reluctant to return books that he borrows.
He cares what people think of him, even though that normally doesn't influence the way he acts or dresses. Tristan isn't eloquent when he speaks but is more to-the-point and honest about what he thinks and feels when though there are times when it hard for him to tell people. But if the way he says something matters he tries his best to put it eloquently.
He also embraces or at least tries to embrace whatever is thrown at him or when things change. This attempt isn't always sucessful, "Hey, but at least I tried." He would respond smiling somewhat bashfully. Or, "That works." He would say dismissively
Family and friends mean the world to him and almost everyday he is thankful for the ones he has and spends much of his time with them.
History
Tristan was born into a family that is 'well off' as he would say, not wanting to say they're rich. His life has been good compared to most not that he is bound to say it. He is the eldest in a family of three children with one little brother of thirteen and a little half-sister of eight years old. His brother was a Muggle and his sister has shown a signs of being a Witch. His mother is a Muggle and his father is a wizard so what he would be was a toss-up. To his father's delight he began showing signs of magic at a young age.
The first incident was when he got into a fight while trying to defend his little brother from a kid who knew how to use magic a little. And as his brother, Lucas, described it later to his parents. "Tristan stood in front of me, glaring at the other boy and the boy screamed that he couldn't move. Tristan asked me if I was okay, I said yes and he smiled and then the boy could move again but he had several bruises and burn marks as he ran away."
Right before Tristan received his letter from Hogwarts his parents split. From then on he spent summer with his mother and holidays with his father, not minding having to travel between the two, he could tell they were both happier when they were apart.
When his first year of Hogwarts came his father could hardly wait, taking Tristan to Diagon Alley and purchasing him a small cat, his supplies, and his wand which is made of cherry wood and unicorn tale hair. Tristan himself was slightly afraid of what would happen. not knowing what to except, dispite the number of times his father explained the houses and classes, assuring his son that he would be in Gryffindor (Or whatever house he gets into)
On arriving at Hogwarts Tristan was relieved of almost all of his inital fears. Many others had come from a situation like his and many others had no idea what House they woukd get into.
It when in his Third Year when he really got into the groove of the large castle, acceling at some classes such as Charms and Care of Magical Creatures and struggling in Herbology and Transfiguration. This was also the year when he developed the courage to branch out to the others around him, he stopped being so cautious around those who didn't like him. This was a turning point in his attitude.
In Fifth Year, he decided to come out about his sexuality, he managed to tell his friends that he was bisexual and to his relief few of them cared about it. He know realized what kind of person he was and wanted to be, taking strides to become that if he could. When he told his father about his sexuality his father admitted to being bisexual himself but having a preference to women. After this Tristan lost his fear of what people would think of him, even though he did care about what they thought it didn't effect him.
