Adriaan Layton Murphy

What you get when you meet him

Looks
Adriaan is tall and very lanky, standing –already- at just about 6 feet. His is light and has little muscle; just enough so that he doesn’t look like a stick, which makes for quite a weak boy. He is still quite clumsy with his body, often misjudging how long his limbs are and knocking things over.

His hair is long and sometimes drapes in his face, though it’s hardly long enough to cover much. It has just enough curl to, sometimes, give him a horned-owl look which is rather goofy. His facial structure is rather unique, though his feminine cheek bones leads to him looking like a woman from certain angles. He has a heavy jaw line, that compliments his high cheeks well, and two blue eyes. The majority of the time he isn’t seen with his glasses on, but he does need them, so he is usually squinting.

Acts
Being born of pure blood Adriaan was raised to dislike anyone who wasn’t. Of course he didn’t know better until he came to Hogwarts. He had been afraid that he would be put in Slytherin, though he definitely lacks the self confidence and sometimes sociopathic behavior. He doesn’t embrace this dislike, but it seems to have snaked in to his heart. He does his best to ignore it and pretends there is nothing wrong –to him- with being different. This leads to an odd split in his personality. At home he displays a strong hatred towards anyone who is muggle-mixed. While at school he avoids anyone who he knows is muggle-mixed, including muggle borns, afraid that his attitude could sneak its way out.

There are plenty of people Adriaan knows that may not be pure blood, but he spends his time avoiding any talk of people’s past or home life. He’d rather just not know, of course most of his relationships with others tend to stay very shallow because of this. His free time at Hogwarts is spent avoiding people who want to have conversations about themselves.


About his home life

Past
Adriaan was born in to a family full of wizards, being the oldest of the grandchildren a lot was expected of him. He wasn’t very socialized, especially with muggles, so he read to get away from boring times. His parents were very secretive, even when it came to him. There would always be low whispers that would stop abruptly anytime he walked by. He never questioned why things were this way; it had never occurred to him that it was odd. His parents didn’t allow pets in the house, and didn’t see a point in having an animal. Though they had one dog, for a short while, that stayed in their yard until one day he was gone. Adriaan never took an interest in animals or being with other people until his sister was born, he was about 10. He grew very attached to her and followed her everywhere when she began to walk. He would play tea, even if his cousins said it sissy, and talk to her dolls with her. He learned through her that having friends could be fun, but he always played with family. Surprisingly Adriaan never outgrew his love of children and continued to choose dolly, or a silly game of horribly tossing a ball and then dodging it when came flying back.
